Summary
Jason’s room never changed, no matter how many times Bruce stepped into it.
At first, Bruce told himself it was a kindness—keeping things as they were. As if preserving the room might preserve Jason too, caught in a still frame where nothing bad had happened yet. The books on the shelf still leaned at odd angles from where Jason had yanked one out too quickly. His boots were by the desk, scuffed and uneven, laces curled like question marks. A Titans poster peeled slightly at the corners, and Bruce had never worked up the courage to straighten it.
But now—now the stillness gnawed at him. Now the air felt hollow. Like even the dust was afraid to settle too loudly.
