“Maaaaa! Turn your light off! I can’t sleep when it’s this bright!” Ochette loudly complained, covering her head with her pillow. A chorus of similar complaints echoed from various spots around the camp.
The source of their ire came from a bedroll containing a certain apothecary and warrior. More specifically, from a curious ability recently acquired by said warrior.
Hikari Ku was glowing a bright blue as Castti snuggled up to him. After rejecting the Shadow powers from his father’s bloodline and embracing the Radiance of his mother’s, he found that close contact with anyone he deeply cares for will cause him to emit a strong glow. Of his companions, each had a different color. Agnea was a vibrant orange, Partitio a shining yellow, Temenos a pale silver, Throné a deep purple, Ochette a lovely pink and Osvald a comforting brown.
“Try as I might, I don’t believe I can turn it off,” Hikari said, apologetic over the fact he’s hindering his companions' sleep.
“Well ya only glow if Castti has a’hold of ya, so maybe if you two didn’t share the same bedroll it’d fix the issue,” Partitio said from his bedroll, hat over his eyes to try and block out the light.
“I don’t want to let go of my light,” Castti replied, earning a blush from Hikari.
“Well I want to get some shut eye,” Partitio said.
“Are you maybe jealous that you don’t have someone of your own to hold?” Castti teased, earning laughter from half the group. Partitio lowered his hat to cover the rest of his now blushing face, mutters of “devil woman” faintly heard.
“Unless anyone else has any ideas, I suggest we just throw blankets over them until it drowns out the light,” Throné said, starting to get up to do just that with Partitio, Ochette and Agnea following suit.
“There’s no need for-” Hikari began to say before he was interrupted by several blankets being tossed over the pair. As soon as they removed the blankets, Castti and Hikari retaliated by launching their pillows at the closest target, knocking over Ochette.
Temenos, first watch of the night, merely observed as the resulting pillow fight escalated to the point where the lone survivor stood above their fallen adversaries. He offered Hikari a round of applause, earning him an exasperated look.
“Well at least they won’t be bothered by you glowing any more,” Osvald, who had been woken up by the commotion, remarked. “Now goodnight.”
Hikari groaned in agreement before curling up next to an unconscious Castti and joining the others in exhausted slumber.
