Chapter 1: Stories
Chapter Text
It was the second semester for team RWBY at Beacon and safe to say, it was off to a... interesting start. Beacon, like most schools, performs blood tests for the students, only this time, a sample accidentally fell into a DNA kit. When Ozpin saw the results, he immediately called in the team.
"I'm glad you could come on such short notice, Team RWBY." Ozpin said, "I have so much to discuss with you right now."
"What is it?" Ruby asked.
"I'm glad you asked." He said, holding up a vial of blood, "Do you know what this is?"
"Uh... blood?" Yang asked.
"Yes, more specifically, Miss Rose's blood." He said, "See, earlier today, a bit of her blood had fallen into a DNA test and the results were... interesting to say the least."
"Interesting? How interesting exactly?" Yang asked.
Ozpin took a sip of his coffee before placing his mug down and pulling out the results from his desk.
"Very, interesting but I think it would be more…believable if you all saw them yourselves." He said, sliding the results across his desk to them.
Team RWBY looked at each other with a look of nervousness, before grabbing the papers. It took all but a few seconds of them looking at them before Weiss had something to say.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?" She screamed in outrage.
"Weiss, calm-"
"DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!" Weiss yelled, "THESE HAVE TO BE FAKE!"
"They aren't." Ozpin said, "I must say, I'm quite surprised, but perhaps I shouldn't be."
Yang was struggling think right now.
"W-w-why does it say unknown father?" Yang asked.
Ozpin simply pulled out a book. He put it on the desk and started flipping through the pages.
"There are many legends in Remnant, some true, some false." Ozpin said, before landing on the page he was looking for, "Ah, here we are. The legend of The Daughters of Light."
The team looked at each other.
"Long ago, there were two beings, brothers. They formed Remnant, but then left suddenly." Ozpin said, "Legend says that before they left, the God of Light said that one day he shall send four girls to bring balance to the world. These girls are his daughters, formed by using a piece of him."
Ozpin slid the book towards the girls. Showing a picture of four shadows, clearly female, holding what looked like weapons. Weapons similar to team RWBY's weapons.
"I believe you four are these daughters." Ozpin said.
"B-But this is just a story. There's no way this could be true." Blake said, looking at her book in shock.
"Just as it is with myths and legends, Ms. Belladonna, every story has a sliver of fact in it." Ozpin said.
"No... NO!" Weiss said, still in denial. "This is just some stupid prank!"
"I have no reason to prank students, Miss Schnee." Ozpin said, "I can see you girls need time to process this, so perhaps you should head back to your room. And please, take the book with you."
Weiss was the first to turn and leave with Blake and Yang slowly following, leaving Ruby as the last one before she reached out and took the book with her.
As Ruby left, Ozpin couldn't help but wonder.
'So, the day has come.' He thought, pulling our his scroll and making a call.
"Glynda, please inform me if anything changes about team RWBY. It's time." He said.
Chapter Text
When Team RWBY returned to their dorm room, they were all silently stirring from this "news" from Ozpin.
Wondering how this could be, why this was happening, and what would this mean for their families if they found out?
"It's a joke, a prank. I don't believe this for one second!" Weiss said.
"It seems kinda elaborate to be a prank." Blake said.
"The most annoying pranks are! And I never expected a headmaster of a huntsman academy to still find pranking fun!" Weiss said as she crossed her arms.
"For someone we call the Ice Queen, you really do seem heated right now." Yang said, "That's meant to be my thing."
"It was a waste of time!" Weiss said, before rubbing her head, "Now I'm getting a headache."
"But Weiss, what if….what if it's true?" Ruby said, looking at the picture of "them."
"It's hogwash, Ruby! There's no way we could be the children of the God of Light AND be born into different families! It's completely insane!" Weiss said.
"I mean... these do look like our weapons, and those silhouettes do kinda resemble us." Yang said, leaning against Ruby with her arm on Ruby's head as she looked at the book.
"Oh my... Blake, can you be the voice of reason to these idiots?" Weiss asked, pinching her temple.
"…" Blake was still silent from this, thinking of the possibilities and implications of they truly were the "daughters" of the God of Light.
"Blake?" Ruby asked as she and Yang looked to her.
"I think… we should just push this away until tomorrow." Blake said, gazing at her friends. "I think this has been a stressful enough day with us coming back for the second semester and we're all a little tense from traveling back here."
"That's putting it lightly." Weiss said blankly.
"Anyway, I think we should get some food and just relax here the rest of the day." Blake said.
"Food does sound good." Weiss said, rubbing her stomach.
"Good… you're paying for it." Yang said with a grin.
"I shouldn't be surprised at this point." Weiss mumbled.
'Considering that I'm the heiress and they all eat a lot, I'm surprised they're not like the literal fat cats back in Atlas.' Weiss thought, glancing at her friends.
The first true friends she had ever had now that she thought about it.
"So, what are we getting?" Yang asked.
"Sushi?" Blake asked instantly.
"That's up for discussion, I guess." Weiss said, before glancing at Ruby. "As long as Ruby gets a bucket of Cookies, she probably won't care."
"That's not…entirely true." Ruby said, glancing away.
"Plus all that chocolate and sugar isn't good for growing girl." Yang said, patting Ruby's head.
"Yang!" Ruby said, slapping her hand away.
"Im just saying, sis." Yang said with a shrug.
"I do not want a bucket of cookies for lunch! I would like a large pepperoni and sausage pizza with stuffed crust, breadsticks, and pretzel bites!" Ruby ordered as she closed the book.
"Guys, I think we made her mad." Yang said, grabbing Ruby by her chin, "Look at this little red face, she's furious!"
Yang learned one vital thing right there... despite being younger... Ruby can hit as hard as her as she elbowed Yang in the boob.
"Blake, can you go see if Team JNPR is here so they can help us handle these two idiots?" Weiss asked, seeing the sisters start fighting.
"Sure, just make sure they don't break anything before I get back." Blake said, getting off her bed and walking to the door.
When she was before Team JNPR's room, Blake knocked on the door and waited. After anout a minute, it didn't seem like anyone was in there.
'Huh, I thought I saw them earlier... maybe they're hanging out somewhere.' She thought before walking back to her dorm room.
"Okay, so, they don't seem to-" Blake stopped talking after she walked in.
Seeing Ruby and Yang frozen in ice, with Weiss holding her weapon into the ground. Her hair completely covered and stained with black ink.
"What...took you...so long?" Weiss asked while gritting her teeth.
"... ... ...You know you actually look really good with black hair. Ever thought about dying it?" Blake asked, gazing at Weiss' "new" hair color.
Immediately, Weiss pointed the sword at Blake.
"Don't." Weiss warned, her teeth grinding from anger. "Just don't."
"But it's a good look. I'm serious." Blake said with a nod.
"NO. It is not." Weiss said before stomping towards the dorm bathroom. "I am going to take a shower, you order the food and I don't care what it is!"
When the bathroom door slammed shut, Blake looked at the two trapped in ice and let out a sigh.
"Let's be honest, you two kinda deserve this." Blake said, before pulling out her scroll.
Chapter Text
Blake brought her sushi to her lips and ate it with joy.
"Why did you guys never tell me they had Sushi places here!?" She asked with a wide grin. "This is so good!"
Ruby was wrapped in about 7 blankets and eating pizza that was basically on fire. She shivered slightly.
"W-w-we d-d-d-don't g-g-go th-th-there o-o-often." Ruby said, still freezing as she slowly took a bite.
Yang was fine, she was naturally hotter than most people... and her body temperature was high too. Plus her semblance made her warmer.
"It's your own fault you're cold." Weiss said, out of the shower and in a bathrobe. "You guys had to fight and kick ink onto me. It took me almost an hour to get it all out of my hair!"
"S-s-sorry." Ruby said with chattering teeth.
"Yeah, sorry. Our fights can get pretty messy when we're really in it." Yang said to Weiss.
"You can both apologize by washing my clothes and cleaning the tub. The ink stained the tub." Weiss said.
"We'll get to it." Yang said.
Ruby still shivered, and Weiss took pity on the younger girl. She walked over to her and hugged her.
"I'm doing this because I don't need our team leader to die of hypothermia, not because I like you." Weiss said.
'BFF!' Ruby thought.
Ruby nuzzled closer to Weiss as the heiress took a slice of pizza and ate it.
'Hmmm, worth every lien.' Weiss thought, enjoying the "commoner" food.
"Guess you could say Weiss is… warming up to you Ruby." Yang joked with her usual grin.
"You know, I should freeze solid you again just for that pun." Weiss said blankly to Yang.
"Yeah, it was really bad, Yang. Like really bad." Blake comments.
"You guys just don't understand humor." Yang said.
"We understand it as much as you do." Weiss joked, getting a chuckle from Blake and Ruby. "See? Now that is how you tell a joke."
"Pfft. Like you know how to joke, Weiss." Yang said, rolling her eyes.
"Wanna bet?" Weiss challenged.
"No! No pun off!" Blake quickly shouted.
"C-c-can w-w-we j-j-just..." Ruby shivered more.
"I think what Ruby is trying to say is, can we have a nice evening for once?" Blake asked.
Ruby nodded.
"So long as nobody ELSE makes bad puns or jokes, I will agree to that." Weiss said, eating more pizza.
"My puns aren't bad. You all are just "comedy challenged."" Yang said, eating some breadsticks.
After eating, team RWBY got into bed and did their own nightly routines. For Ruby, it was play games on her scroll until she passed out, for Blake it was reading, for Yang it was just passing out the second her head touched the pillow, and for Weiss it was count all the ways she is better than everyone.
Which to her, was at least 20 things.
Within the hour, they all were asleep... which is why it was strange when they all woke up in some strange room.
Fully dressed and sitting in comfortable chairs like they were all sitting in a living room.
This wasn't right, not at all.
"Uh... am I dreaming or is this real?" Blake asked.
"I... I don't know." Yang said.
"H-How are we all having the same dream at the same time? It's not possible." Ruby said, looking around the room.
"Have we been kidnapped?" Weiss asked.
"Worry not, you are not in danger." A voice said.
The team turned towards the voice and gasped at the sight of the "person."
He looked like he was made of... gold... with... deer antlers on his head?
"W-w-who... who are you?" Ruby asked, wishing her weapon was here.
"Please, there's no need to be afraid." The being said, "After all, why would I try and destroy you? I spent so much time creating you."
"C-c-creating?" Yang asked.
"Of course, and I must say, it's such a pleasure to finally meet my daughters." He said as he "smiled."
Chapter Text
To say that team RWBY was shocked was an understatement.
"W-w-what are you!?" Weiss demanded.
"I believe the answer to that is your father." He joked, "But I know what you mean. I am called the God of Light in your world, one of the two creators of Remnant. My brother, your uncle, is currently dealing with his own kids. I'm sure you'll see them later on."
"Are we... supposed to fight them?" Ruby asked.
"Oh good heavens, no!" He said, shaking his head. "You and your cousins are meant to help bring unity and peace to Humanity. To work together, as my brother and I did with our creations. Light and Dark cannot exist without each other, perfect balance must be kept in order to keep peace."
"You mean creation and destruction?" Yang asked.
"Yes that. My brother was responsible for the birth of the Grimm while I am responsible for the power that can destroy them." The God of Light said.
"You mean aura?" Ruby asked.
"Not that, my child." The God of Light said before pointing to where his eyes should be. "Your silver eyes."
'My eyes?' Ruby thought in surprise.
"We always made sure that for everything one of us made, the other would create the equalizer to it. Perfect balance." He said, "Sadly it seems as though the world is leaning towards imbalance."
"Wait, before anythign else, we have some questions!" Yang said.
"Yeah, if you're our dad, why did you make Ruby younger?" Weiss asked.
"Why did you put Yang and I together?" Ruby asked.
"What are we supposed to do?" Blake asked.
"Well, to answer Blake's first." He said, turning to her. "I sadly don't have much time, but there are people you need to speak with that can help. Such as Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch."
He then turned to the others.
"As for your questions, I wanted to make sure Yang could become a responsible young lady." He said, "And by giving her a sibling would help with that. As for Weiss' question... have you met Yang? I didn't want to repeat the mistake I made with her and took some time with Ruby, I didn't need to create TWO girls with that much firepower."
"... That's fair." Yang said.
"Now sadly, you are waking up soon. I have just enough time to unlock your powers, but you will need to train hard and work to master them." He said, "When you wake up, you will have a symbol on your hands, that is to help with your abilities until you can truly master them."
Before they could ask anything about their powers, the God of Light held his hand out and sent a wave of energy from his hand . Washing over the four of them as their right hands glowed, a symbol of two deer antlers forming on their palms.
Then there was a bright light... and they all shot up in their beds.
"Oh Gods... I just had the weirdest dream!" Weiss said.
"So did I." Yang said, "There was a god there, we were all there!"
"I had a dream like that as well!" Ruby said.
"Blake? What about you?" Weiss asked.
Blake... was the only one to look at her hand.
"Guys... I don't think that was a dream." She said, showing her palm.
And just like in their "dream," there was the same of two deer antlers right in the middle of her palm.
The others checked their palms and eyes went wide. Weiss shook her head.
"N-n-no! This... it's not... how can-"
In a burst of petals, Ruby brought her team together and hugged everyone.
"I have more siblings!" She said, happily.
"We….We really at the kids of the god of light….holy shit." Yang said with wide eyes.
"RUBY, LET US GO OR ELSE I'M GOING TO SLAP YOU!" Weiss yelled.
"WORTH IT!" Ruby shouted, still hugging her new and current family.
After Ruby let go, AKA Weiss hit her in the head with the handle of Myrtenaster, the group sat down and discussed everything and what they should do.
"I mean... D... Dad... did say that Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch could help." Ruby said, rubbing her head a bit from the hit.
"That would mean they know a lot more than they're telling us. Ozpin I expected but not Ms. Goodwitch." Blake comments.
"Those two are close, I'm not that surprised." Yang said, "But until then, let's try and think things through a bit. It's one thing to tell people that might already know, but let's not go around saying we're gods to everyone."
"Who said we were telling everyone? Not like they would believe us but still." Weiss said, crossing her arms.
"I'm just saying, this one is a bit of an open book." Yang said, pointing at Ruby.
"What does that supposed to mean?!" Ruby said.
"Now don't steal Weiss' catchphrase." Yang said, "But sometimes you speak before you think."
"Coming from the girl that always thinks with her fists!" Ruby argued.
"Well when you have to knock someone out after you told them a secret, it's an important skill to have." Yang argued.
"Hey, that only happened one time!" Ruby countered.
"Um guys, we have more important things to worry about." Blake said.
"She's right, like talking about the symbols that randomly showed up on our hands!" Weiss said.
"Well, it's obvious proof of our-"
"I KNOW what it means! I mean how will people react to seeing it?!" Weiss asked, jabbing her finger into her palm several times. "We can't just suddenly say we got matching tattoos as a group thing like when you got out on a party bender!"
"How do you know what people do in a party bender?" Yang asked.
"I watch trash TV too, you philistine!" Weiss shouted.
Blake let out a sigh.
'I found hell.' She thought, 'And it's related to me... oh shit, I should get rid of THAT book!'
"Blake, can you please join the conversation before Yang and Weiss start throwing hands?" Ruby asked.
"Should I? Cuz I think they would want to fight each other regardless of my intervention." Blake said blankly.
"I could still use some help here!" Ruby begged.
Blake sighed and stood up. She got in between everyone.
"How about instead of fight, we talk like normal people?" Blake suggested, "After we get some ideas of what to do next, we then have our sibling bickering. Sound like a plan?"
"…That sounds agreeable." Weiss said, crossing her arms.
"Good to me." Yang said, shrugging.
"Good, now, let's just calmly explore our options." Blake said.
"Right… ... ...anybody want to figure out what kind of magic powers we have now?" Ruby asked with a grin.
"Well, from what I heard from legends, the god of... I mean... our father and his brother could do pretty much... anything." Weiss said.
"Anything and more. It's almost intoxicating to imaging the power that could literally be at our finger tips." Blake said, looking at her hands.
"Like changing ourselves into the opposite gender or another race to see what it's like?" Yang asked out loud.
"… … …Not that. I am perfectly content as a Faunus woman." Blake said blankly to Yang.
"Your lose." Yang said with a shrug.
"Could they... bring back someone from the dead?" Ruby asked, rubbing her arm.
"There... is a legend that says so, but it's not a verified source." Weiss said, "Why?"
"... Ruby... are you thinking what I think you're thinking?" Yang asked.
Ruby nodded. Yang sighed.
"Her blood related mom, Summer Rose, went on a mission and the only thing that came back was a torn cloak." Yang explained, "Ruby was only around 5 or 6 at the time."
Weiss and Blake looked at the youngest sibling with wide eyes.
Out of everything they had expected one of them to want with their godly powers, raising a loved one from the dead was not one of them.
"Ruby…do you understand what you want? You want to mess with the natural order of life and de-"
"And is that so wrong when someone so many people loved was taken before her time?" Ruby cut her off, clenching her hands.
That...was a good point but still, it was ethically and morally questionable.
"Look... it will be a while before we do something like that." Blake said, "But, if we get good with these abilities, then maybe... maybe we can make things better for everyone, including ourselves. So... maybe... what I'm trying to say is... maybe you need a hug from your new big sister?"
Blake opened her arms to let Ruby hug her.
"Both of them?" Weiss asked, holding her arms open.
She had never wanted to her little brother from Atlas like this, but Ruby was different. And it looked like she NEEDED to be a better big sister now more than ever.
"…" Ruby was silent as she grits her teeth, trying not to cry as she walks towards them both.
Hugging them tightly as Weiss and Blake hugged her back.
Ruby needed this…. and maybe… just maybe… they could bring Summer Rose back one day.
Chapter Text
Team RWBY walked into class, noticing that team JNPR and Glynda Goodwitch weren't there. Instead, Professor Ozpin was in class.
"Ah, Team RWBY, glad you showed up for class." Ozpin said, "Any… interesting developments happen today?"
Weiss gave him a look as she adjusted her new gloves.
"Where's Professor Goodwitch?" Weiss asked.
"She and Team JNPR are on a small mission today, so I am teaching class until their return." Ozpin said.
"A small mission? What kind of mission if you don't mind me asking." Blake said.
"Reconnaissance, simple and safe as can be. So don't worry." Ozpin said. "A great learning opportunity for them. Now, take your seats and class can begin."
"So, if we stay standing, class can't start?" Yang asked.
"No, you will then have to fight me In a spar, and I don't care how good you are. I will, as the kids say, wipe the floor with you. I am the Headmaster of this school for a reason." Ozpin said, sipping from his mug, "Now sit down."
That made everyone sit down, even though they have never seen Ozpin fight before they had heard stories of his skills.
His nickname from his youth was "The Flash" because he could kill an entire pack of Grimm before you could blink.
"Good. Now, before we get into your typical sparring, I want to go over an old legend." Ozpin said before looking directly at Team RWBY, "Who here has heard of the brothers of light and dark?"
They flinched from this, almost as if he was expecting them to raise their hands.
So, slowly, Weiss decided to raise her hand for everyone in her team.
"Excellent." Ozpin said, "And since no one else seems to know, I'll give a brief summary of it."
Everyone but Team RWBY leaned forward and listened to Ozpin.
"Legend says that Remnant was formed by two brothers. One controlling light, the other controlling darkness. The two of them created everything from the land, to Grimm, even humanity." Ozpin said before he took a sip of his coffee/tea/whatever he always drank from his mug. "However, there is a part of this legend that many forget. The brothers have disappeared, leaving the world to balance itself out, but they left something that can bring them back. Four relics, that when combined can bring the brothers back to this world. It's said that their children will collect them."
"Children? The gods had children?" One person asked in surprise.
"Indeed. We have legends of the God of Light's four daughters, but we know very little about where the idea of the God of Dark's children came from. All we know is there are two sons and two daughters. As to where these legends came from, we aren't sure, though I myself am a big believer." Ozpin said, once again looking at team RWBY, "I believe they will come and will collect the relics."
RWBY looked at each other with nervous looks and sweat forming on their brows.
"... Now, I do believe this is a combat class." Ozpin said, "It sure has been a while since I've seen student combat class in person, I look forward to this."
'Especially Team RWBY if they have unlocked their powers already.' Ozpin thought.
'Is he trying to draw attention to us?!' Team RWBY thought as Ozpin activated the randomizer for sparing matches.
"First up... Cardin Winchester against Ruby Rose." Ozpin said, displaying the results for everyone.
"Hehe, this is gonna be easy." Cardin said with a grin, sitting with his team.
"Seriously? Why the school racist?" Ruby muttered with a groan.
"At least he'll be easy for you, sis. Cardin and his team are the worst fighters in school." Yang said.
"Doesn't mean I want to waste energy dealing with him." Ruby muttered.
She walked to the battle stage and got Cresent Rose ready. Cardin had his weapon ready and smirked. Ozpin smiled slightly.
"Begin." He said.
Using Crescent Rose, Ruby shoot forward to Cardin as he swung his mace but she easily jumped over it and shot at his back! Making him stumble a bit before planting his feet.
"Lucky shot." Cardin said with a frown.
"Skill, not luck." Ruby said with a grin.
Cardin growled led as he slammed his mace down, sending a wave of flames from the fire dust inside! Using her semblance, Ruby sped around the flames and fire more bullets at Cardin but he managed to block each one of them.
Ruby then spun Cresent Rose and switched to Scythe mode. She ran at him and swung at him, only for him to block it with his weapon. The sudden block resulted in Ruby being knocked back from the force. Cardin then ran at her, and Ruby only had time to put her arm up in order to block any blow to her face. The second Cardin's weapon hit... it bounced off Ruby as if she was made of metal. Ruby was shocked, Cardin was shocked, WBY was shocked. Ruby quickly shook off the nerves and brought Cresent Rose close, returning it to its sniper form and pointing it at Cardin's chest. She pulled the trigger and shot Cardin right in the chest, knocking him away and breaking his aura. Ruby then looked at her sisters, who were confused, concerned, and some other word that began with a C that they couldn't think of right now.
"Well done, Miss Rose." Ozpin said.
"H-h-huh?" Ruby asked, a little taken back.
"An Aura Block is a hard technique, that even some of the most skilled Huntsmen struggle to perfect. Tell me, did your mother teach you..." He took a sip from his mug, "Or did your father?"
Ozpin gave a look that made Ruby a bit pale. It was very obvious he knew, and they knew that as well. They couldn't deny that now. The other's on team RWBY looked mad.
'Might as well just put a giant glowing sign over our heads that says Demi-Gods!' Weiss thought.
Ozpin looked at his tablet.
"Oh, it would seem I have a message from Glynda." Ozpin said, "Team RWBY, would you please join me in my office? I have something I was hoping to wait until after class but it seems it can't wait. Class, take a free period while I take care of this."
Team RWBY shared a look and walked after Ozpin.
"You're hiding something." Weiss said, seeing the look on Ozpin's face, "I know that look."
"I can assure you, you and your sisters will receive the answers to your questions." Ozpin said, pressing the button on his office elevator, "However, there is much that we need to do before that. Such as training. I can guess that Miss Rose did not deflect that attack on her own?"
"I... well... no." Ruby said, rubbing her arm.
"I see... well." Ozpin and the girls got on the elevator, "I think it will be better to bring this conversation up with everyone together."
"Everyone?" Blake asked.
"You will see."
They rode the elevator to Ozpin's office, where Glynda and team JNPR were waiting.
"Ah, Glynda, how did team JNPR do on their... mission?" Ozpin asked.
"I think there will need to be more... Missions... but they have shown potential." Glynda said.
"Good." Ozpin said, before turning to the two teams, "It is quite funny to be honest, you are often called Sister Teams, when in reality... you're cousins."
Chapter Text
To say the two teams were shocked was an understatement. However, Weiss in particular was very disturbed as well.
"I've been getting hit on by Jaune, my COUSIN!?" Weiss yelled, remebering all the times he hit on her! "UGH! I feel gross now!"
"It's not much better on this side of the equation, either." Jaune mumbled.
'Oh uncle (God of Light) and father (God of Darkness), why is the first girl I have a crush on have to turn out to be my cousin?! Why do you hate me so much?!' Jaune thought as his dreams of getting Weiss to fall for him came crashing down.
Pyrrha was having a similar issue in her mind.
'The guy I like... is my brother.' She thought as her heart was slowly breaking.
Ozpin looked at the teams and could clearly see this is a bit confusing.
"Well, I think you need some time to process this." Ozpin said, "Which is why I found a mission for you all to go on.
"A mission, professor? No offense but after the last "mission" we went on, I think it would be better if we had a small break." Ren suggested as he glanced at Nora, whose world also seemed to have been "shattered" in a sense.
"This one is a bit different." Ozpin said, "And it will be simple and give you the chance to bond as a family."
Weiss let out a sigh.
"What is it?" She asked.
"Simple. You have to go to a specific location and collect something." Ozpin explained.
"Collect something? Like some old relic?" Jaune asked.
"Yes, what I want you all to collect is a relic of sorts. One of a kind". Ozpin said with a nod.
"I believe that it is far too dangerous for it's current location and I'd rather it not fall into dark hands." Ozpin said, "Get this, and I will explain everything you wish to know."
"Why us?" Yang asked, "Something tells me this is one of those 'Only you can do it' type situation."
"It's been dormant for centuries, however Glynda's report of the area confirmed my suspicion." Ozpin said, pulling out the tablet and making a holographic display appear with the location of the relic. "You awakening your godly nature, has only resulted in its power becoming too dangerous for a normal person to collect. Not only would it attract Grimm the second it's taken out of its vault, but the power it gives off would more than likely kill an ordinary human."
"And because we're not human, you want us to do this." Weiss said.
"Cruel as it may sound, yes. With you all being children of the brother gods, Demi-humans and a Demi-Faunus, you are all the best option I can trust to retrieve this relic." Ozpin said, gesturing to Blake for a moment. "Up to the task, Ms. Rose and Mr. Arc?"
Both team leaders looked at each other and their teams/siblings, getting reluctant but accepting nods and mumbles about the mission.
"Fine." Ruby said with a sigh, "I suppose we'll have to go. But you better start talking when we get back."
"I swear, I will explain when you get back." Ozpin said, actually being honest with them.
"Well, the sooner we start, the sooner we get answers, let's get going, guys!" Jaune said.
They left, leaving Ozpin and Glynda to speak with each other.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Glynda asked.
"There's not much of a choice." Ozpin said, "They are the children of gods, meaning it is their responsibility to do this. We can only help guide them and help them control their new abilities, the rest is up to them."
"For both our sakes... I hope you're right." Glynda said, "I had difficulties with getting them to use any ability you have listed."
"They are young and only just learned the truth, they need time." Ozpin said, sipping his drink, "We just have to wait."
(Line Break)
The two teams were a good distance away from Beacon.
"And you're sure this is the right way?" Yang asked.
"I mean, this is where the map I was sent says!" Ruby said, "It's only been ten minutes, give it time, would you rather be in Professor Port's class right now?"
"Honestly, I wouldn't. His "stories" might or might not be important but I'm tired of hand cramps from trying to keep up with all of his exaggerated details." Pyrrha said.
"You and me both." Jaune said.
It got quiet for a bit after that. A bit too quiet... ... ... ... ... ...Uncomfortably quiet.
"Okay, raise your hand if you had a crush on someone in this group." Blake said suddenly as everyone stopped.
Slowly, everyone raised their hands. Blake sighed because she knew this was something they had to move past.
"We're getting over this, right now, because its going to be awkward if he hold it in and it will be awkward if we say it, so we might as well just say it!" Blake said before turning to , you start and we'll go from there!"
"…Does it really have to be me that goes first?" Pyrrha asked with a small squeak.
"NOW, WOMAN!" Blake practically roared at her, making Pyrrha jolt a bit in fear.
"Okay, okay! I was in love with Jaune because he didn't know who I was and treated me like a normal girl instead of a celebrity!" Pyrrha said quickly.
'Wait, what?!' Jaune thought as his jaw dropped.
No one but Jaune was shocked from this.
"Honestly, you weren't subtle about it." Weiss said with a shrug.
"Yeah, sis, we all knew." Nora said, "Well, except for Jaune."
"It was almost PAINFULLY obvious." Yang comments.
"Why didn't anyone tell me?!" Jaune shouted at them.
"I didn't think we needed to. I personally thought growing up with seven sisters would've helped you know when a girl likes you." Ren said, shrugging his shoulders. "Even I could see the signs."
"HA! Like you know the signs of when a girl likes you." Nora exclaimed as she crossed her arms.
'Oh boy, here we go.' Team RWBY thought, glancing at Nora.
"Let me tell you something Mister, you are almost as oblivious as Jaune is!" Nora said, jabbing her finger into Ren's chest. "I have been in love with you for literal YEARS! Not a single hint have you picked up on!"
"Since when have you ever done that?" Ren asked, trying to remain calm.
"ALWAYS! We've been with each other since childhood! Why do you think I have a heart shaped chest window on my shirt?! It was to trick you into looking at my girls!" Nora said, gesturing to her chest. "But apparently, since we're literally siblings now, it was all for nothing!"
Seeing her anger rising, Pyrrha took Nora by the shoulders and brought her over to boulder she could punch to get her anger out on.
"Wow…and I thought I could explode." Yang said, staring at her cousin as she punched the boulder.
Shattering it to pieces.
Nora let out a few breaths.
"… I feel better now!" She said, looking back at her new family. "Who wants to go next?"
"Well… I think we all know about Blake's book." Yang said.
"W-w-which book?" Blake asked trying not to blush.
"The smut fic you wrote about us." Ruby said, "We've all seen it, by the way, I would NEVER say something like that!"
"And I would never act so vulgar!" Weiss said, covering her chest on instinct.
"I... can't say much... you got me pretty accurate." Yang said.
Blake turned beat red and covered her eyes in embarrassment.
"UGH!" Blake let out as she covered her face. "I hid it so well!"
"It was in your pillow case!" Weiss said.
"We're just glad we weren't included." Pyrrha said, motioning between her and the rest of team JNPR.
"... You were being saved for the second half." Blake said, looking aezy.
"Well you better finish it because I want to keep reading." Yang said with a grin as everyone looked at her. "Look, we read the thing before we found out we're related, and now the book is a bit weirder than it was when we found it... but you have to admit... she's a good writer. Besides, I think she's been embarrassed enough as is, she's been punished enough for it."
"She's right." Ruby said, "About her being embarrassed, not it being a good book. Weiss, your turn, who did you like?"
"... You." Weiss mumbled.
"… … …I'm sorry, but did you say "me?" As in me, Ruby Rose?" Ruby asked, blinking slowly.
"…Yes. You were the one that I liked, Ruby." Weiss said.
"Well... dang it! The one time I have a crush she's my sister!" Ruby shouted angrily.
'For some reason, I feel both offended and relieved.' Yang thought with a release of breath.
"So, Yang what about you?" Weiss asked, hearing the release of air.
"Well... Blake's got the Bellabooty." Yang said, making Blake blush.
"I don't even know why I asked." Weiss said, "And we all know Jaune had a crush on me. I think we got it all. Can we get back to the mission? Because I want to get back and learn what Ozpin knows."
"Yeah, I think it's best we get to work and get back so we can talk to him." Blake said with a nod.
'I better hide my book in a MUCH better place too.' She thought as they continued to the sight where Ozpin said this "relic" was hidden.
Chapter Text
After what felt like forever, they finally arrived at the large vault.
"Okay, we're here... I don't see any Grimm." Ruby said, "I figured this place would be crawling with them."
"Better for us." Weiss said, "Now... how do we open this?"
"Maybe Nora and I could smash it open?" Yang suggested.
"Oh! I like that idea!" Nora said.
"... Starting to see how you two are related." Blake said blankly.
"Maybe before we smash something open, we could find some sort of hidden switch to open it?" Jaune suggested, looking over the door while rubbing his chin.
"Hm... what if... we try our blood?" Ruby suggested, "I mean... surely that should work, we're the children of gods."
"You mean cut our palms and just throw out blood against the door to make it magically open?" Weiss sarcastically asked.
"Yes. Or just press your hand against the door with the blood." Ruby said bluntly.
"How about we call that plan B?" Blake said to her.
"And what is plan A exactly?" Ren asked.
"SMASHING IT!" Yang and Nora shouted.
"As much as I hate to say it... go ahead." Weiss said with a sigh. "Smash away, girls."
The two cousins smiled. Nora held her hammer up and Yang activated her semblance. The two rushed at the door and slammed their fist/hammer into it... only for nothing to happen.
No crack, no budge, and barely even a sound.
It was like the door just absorbed the hits.
"Huh?" Nora let out, confused.
"Well…that's never happened before." Yang said with wide eyes.
Though also shock, Nora swung her hammer again but got the same result.
And again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and-
"WHY WON'T YOU BREAK?!" Nora shouted as she kept trying to smash the door open.
"Nora, I don't think that's going to work." Jaune said blankly.
"Then I guess we move onto plan B?" Blake asked as Yang stared at her fist.
'Am I not strong enough to do this?' Yang thought.
"Yeah, plan B!" Ruby said, pulling out a knife.
"... Where did you get that!?" Weiss yelled.
"Weiss, just because I use a scythe doesn't mean I'm limited to it." Ruby said, "You never know when I'll be away from Cresent Rose."
"And what if you're away from your knife?" Weiss asked.
Ruby said nothing and reached into Weiss' ponytail, pulling out another knife.
"I use a spare I hide on one of you." She said.
"You keep blades on me hidden on me?!" Weiss shouted, covering her body.
'I feel so violated.' Weiss thought.
"Don't worry... I didn't do it to just you." Ruby said, "But I think we should get back to the problem at hand."
"…This feels like a giant invasion of privacy." Blake said, searching herself for blades she didn't know about.
Yang didn't do the same but she was also shocked by this.
'Oh my father, Ruby is an even bigger weapon maniac than I thought.' Yang thought as she watched Ruby approach the door.
Cutting her hand with the knife and put it against the door. Her blood began to ooze onto the door, getting a reaction as it began to spark and glow with energy.
"It's working!" Ruby said happily.
They suddenly heard a howl and turned around, seeing a large horde of Grimm rushing towards them.
"I knew there was something wrong when there were no Grimm!" Ruby said.
"We'll have to fight them before that door opens fully." Yang said, starting up her gauntlets.
"Now that sounds like a plan." Jaune said, drawing his sword and shield.
"Good! Mama needs to smash something!" Nora shouted, still frustrated that she couldn't smash through the door.
"This is going to be fun." Pyrrha said, wanting a little normality in this crazy day.
"I suppose this is a rather fun family bonding moment." Weiss said.
"Just like Nora and I before Beacon." Ren said, slipping his guns from his sleeves.
"Guess there's no choice." Blake said, pulling out Gambel Shroud.
"Let's do this!" Yang said, finally over her shock and ready to fight.
"ROOOOOAH!" The grimm horde roared as the demigods rushed towards the advancing Grimm.
"NORA SMASH!" She shouted as she literally jumped with her hammer held high.
She seemed to need this more than anyone as she smashed an Ursa's head in.
'I love this damn family.' Yang thought, finally having a relative that is as destructive as her.
"DIE FUCKERS!" Yang shouted, lunging a pack of beowolves.
She unleashed a barrage of punches, seemingly faster and stronger than ever before as she punched holes through them all instantly!
'I feel... stronger...am I... am I becoming more God like?' Yang thought.
And Yang wasn't the only one that felt stronger or faster due to their god blood.
Jaune himself felt his senses were sharper as he could dodge and block claw attacks much easier than he could before.
He raised his shield and blocked an attack, rebounding with his sword to the chest of the Grimm.
'Yes! Pyrrha's training is paying off!' Jaune thought as he swung his sword and threw the Grimm into two more.
Sensing something underground, Jaune jumped and stabbed his sword into the ground to kill a centipede type Grimm that tried to attack him.
More Grimm tried to rush at him from behind, but Ren was there to protect himas he fired bullets from Stormflower at them.
'Hmmm, if the God of Darkness created the Grimm, does that mean I, Nora, Pyrrha, and Jaune could create our own Grimm?' Ren thought, calm and collected as he continued to kill his father's creations. 'Or wait, do these things count as our older siblings instead?'
He pushed that thought out of his head and continued to kill as more began to arrive.
"They just keep showing up!" Pyrrha shouted, shooting multiple Grimm.
With team RWBY, Ruby was swinging her scythe so much she was afraid she was about to make a damn tornado. She was slicing them into nothing but black powder.
"Then we keep fighting them!" Ruby said.
"Why are they swarming now of all times?!" Weiss shouted as she fired multiple fire dust attacks.
"Maybe it's Ruby's blood! Like black bears to honey, it's attracting them like crazy!" Blake shouted.
"Which means that they must be attracted to us as well!" Yang said, getting scratched by one, "The more we bleed, the most show up!"
"We can't take them all, not by ourselves!" Ren said.
"Then we need to work together, all eight of us!" Jaune shouted, blocking a grimm's claw! "We need to form a united front and press forward as one!"
"Got it!" Ruby said, before gazing at her partner/sister. "Weiss, I can clear more out easily with Cresent Rose's reach, I need you to use your glyphs to help move everyone into a centralized position!"
"Easy." Weiss said as she smirked, "Ready when you give the signal."
Weiss spun her weapon's dial, switching from fire dust to gravity dust while holding her fingers out, preparing a glyph.
Ruby went rushing in. She spun her scythe was speed and grace, enough that Weiss is reminded how much she hates being her sister.
'Stupid genetics means that I can't be with her.' Weiss thought, before sending glyphs onto the ground.
"One direction is set!" Weiss said, "We just need two more!"
"Working on it!" Ruby said.
"Nora, give Ruby a hand!" Jaune said.
"You got it, bro!" Nora said, swinging her hammer at the Grimm around the darkness siblings.
'I don't care if we have the same dad! You monsters ruined my life!' Nora thought before switching her hammer to grenade launcher, firing multiple pink explosives.
She destroyed several Grimm, allowing Weiss to make a bridge of glyphs for them. Now for Blake and Yang... who somehow ended up by themselves in the horde... not even Weiss understands how they did that.
"You two better not be talking about that damn book!" Weiss shouted.
"Shut up about my book!" Blake yelled, face turning red, "Yang, we need to try and help clear a path."
"Got it! Leave it to me!" Yang shouted, popping out the empty shells from her gauntlets.
She then pulled out new bullet shells, special ones loaded with a mix of fire and gravity dust. Tossing them into the air and throwing her arms back, Yang instantly reloaded her gauntlets.
'Let's go!' Yang thought as she jumped in the air and slammed her fist on the ground!
Unleashing a purplish, flaming shockwave that knocked a bunch of Grimm away.
Not stopping the "fun," Yang unleashed mixed shots of gravity and fire dust as more and more Grimm were sent flying or destroyed.
"Path is clear! Let's go!" Yang shouted.
The two started running, along with team JNPR, and Weiss and Ruby. The three groups met in the middle.
"Great, now what?" Blake asked, seeing lots of Grimm coming at them.
"We go hard and fast! Weiss, charge up everyone with a time dilation glyph like you did for Blake against Roman!" Ruby said with a grin.
"You want Weiss to what now?" Jaune asked, confused.
"ARE YOU MENTAL?! I just mastered that technique and you want me to use it on all EIGHT of us?!" Weiss shouted at Ruby.
"Yes!" Ruby said with confidence.
'It's official, Ruby is textbook insane.' Blake thought but could see the upsides as she remembered that rush of energy that let her unleash slashes of energy and slice through missiles like butter.
'Ohohohoho, this is gonna be good!' Yang thought.
'I hope this works.' Pyrrha and Jaune thought.
"UGH, FINE! But I'm not responsible if we die!" Weiss said, before stabbing her blade into the ground.
A large time dilation glyph formed around them, spinning and glowing brightly as they all could feel an incredibly rush of power!
'I... I haven't felt like this before with time dilation.' Weiss thought, feeling this rush kf energy was more powerful than the last time. 'Is my godhood affecting my glyph and making it stronger?'
"Everyone, attack!" Ruby said, bursting forth in a tornado of rose petals!
Beheading 10 Beowulves in an instant!
"You heard the girl!" Yang said, going to attack and punching through 4 Ursas.
"LET'S FUCKING GO!" Nora shouted as she rushed in, her muscles sparking with electricity as her semblance activated and went into overdrive!
She slammed her hammer down and sent an explosion of that killed all grimm around her!
'Oh no. This won't be good.' Ren thought, even though he does have to admit this rush of energy felt good in a way.
It seemed like he was just strolling through the battlefield, slicing and shooting through sevral charging Boarbatusks.
"Whoa! This is awesome! Let's do this!" Jaune shouted, feeling the rush of energy as he charged!
He didn't even use his shield as he playfully and cockily slashed through a pack of "slow" Sabyrs!
Pyrrha felt the rush of power and rushed in with Milo. She barely blinked by the time she had sliced through several Manticores!
'This is... incredible.' Pyrrha thought, throwing her shield as it spun like a buzzsaw!
Going right through a giant Death Stalker before it returned to her hand.
'I feel like I've never truly been in touch with my semblance before. I feel like I could summon a hundred shadow clones.' Blake thought as she used her semblance to dodge and sliced through multiple Grimm with her weapon.
Though as she looked back, Blake saw that the clones didn't vanish yet. Confusing Blake as they suddenly began fighting on their own.
'...Did my semblance just evolve?' Blake thought in confusuon AND shock before she shook her head.
Focusing back on the fight.
From an outsider's view point, it was like a meteor shower piercing through a storm of darkness.
Fast, flashy, nearly untraceable, and fleeting…because as soon as it begun, it had already ended.
In just THREE seconds, the entire horde of Grimm was reduced to ashes in the wind.
"I think... we did it." Yang said, falling to a knee, "Phew, I'm tired."
"Well... we can go through the door without issue now." Jaune said, still standing despite how much heavier his sword felt now.
"Yeah, let's go." Ruby said.
The group went through the doors, unsure of what's on the other side.
Chapter Text
Everything in the vault was dark after walking in, confusing the group as they didn't expect the vault to be so…empty.
BAM!
Suddenly the doors slammed themselves shut, seemingly trapping the eight children of the gods inside!
"... I don't suppose night vision is one of the abilities we have?" Weiss asked, the room being pitch black, "Blake, do something!"
"What do you expect me to do? I can see in the dark, yes, but I can also tell you there is literally nothing in here!" Blake said.
Suddenly, a small opening appeared on the floor, and something rose from it. The room was suddenly lit up by blue fire on torches.
"... Anyone else getting bad vibes from this?" Yang asked.
"It feels like the part of a movie where you take something and then a giant boulder chases after you." Jaune said, looking around.
"Or if you step on something that triggers a trap. Did anyone step on a trap title?" Nora asked, looking around the floor.
"Don't be ridiculous. Why would anyone make this place nearly impenetrable and add traps inside?" Weiss asked, stepping forward.
"You can never tell, Weiss." Ruby said as everyone followed Weiss.
But with caution in each step.
"Whatever let's just get this thing and get out of here." Weiss said.
"Sure, because getting an old crown made by our uncle has been easy so far." Ren said, rolling his eyes.
"Crown?!" Nora yelled excitedly.
'I almost forgot during all the Grimm killing that there is a crown!' Nora thought as she rushed ahead without a care in the world!
Nora, wait!" Pyrrha yelled.
Too late... she rush back to the group, already holding it in her hands before putting it on her head.
"Guys, look, I'm really the queen of the-" Nora suddenly fell to her knees and held her head while screaming in pain as images flashed through her head.
Images of Grimm she had never seen, people she had never seen, and fire! Lots and lots of fire!
Nora quickly threw the crown off her head and started breathing heavily.
"Nora!?" Ren asked as he approaches her.
Nora looked up and saw her family looking at her with worry.
"... We need to speak with Ozpin." Nora said, "... We need to find out who Salem
"Salem?" Jaune asked as he and everyone else got a suddenly shiver up their spines for some reason.
"Nora, who is Salem?" Pyrrha asked as she used her semblance to pick up the crown.
"I... I don't know." Nora said, sweating from the mere thought of her, "She had this white hair, gray skin, and controlled Grimm... but... also somehow white, blonde, in love with this guy named Ozma. I... I don't know what any of it means... It's... I want to go back to Beacon... I don't want to stay here any longer."
Ren had rarely seen Nora like this as he helped her up to her feet. Feelings Nora's legs were shaking so much that Ren had to keep holding her up to prevent her from falling.
"Pyrrha... keep that damn thing away from me." Nora said, looking at the crown.
"I will." Pyrrha said, still holding the crown at a distance. "We had better leave and speak with Ozpin, clearly he knows something."
"Yeah... let's go." Ruby said with a nod as she heard the doors open themselves for them.
No longer needing to hold them "hostage" since they now had the crown.
(Line Break)
Ozpin was looking out the window of his office when the sound of metal landing on his desk could be heard.
"You're keeping something from us." Ruby said with a glare.
Ozpin sipped his coffee, fairly unfazed by this as he continued to stare our the window.
"Who is Salem?" Jaune asked.
That caught his attention.
"…How do you know that name?" Ozpin asked, firming his grip on his coffee mug.
"Nora put on the crown and started screaming before taking it off. She said that we needed to talk to you about this woman." Ren said firmly, still holding a shaking Nora close.
"That was a foolish decision, you shouldn't-"
"Don't change the subject!" Weiss shouted, slamming her hand on the desk, "What are you hiding!?"
"And you either tell us the truth or we're gone. All of us." Yang said, glaring at Ozpin as her eyes turned red.
Ozpin let out a sigh.
"Salem is the woman that the academies were created to fight against. She controls Grimm and is hellbent on destruction." Ozpin said, "She only understands destruction and will not rest until her goal is achieved."
"What is her goal?" Blake asked.
"... To kill your fathers." Ozpin said.
The rest of them went wide eyed.
"Why?!" Jaune yelled.
Ozpin walked over to a shelf and pulled out a book.
"To understand that, we have to go back to before she was evil." Ozpin said, "She was once a princess locked in a tower, begging for help. A brave man known as Ozma freed her and they fell in love. Sadly, Ozma died not long after and she went to the gods begging to revive her."
Ozpin closed his eyes and took a breath.
"The God of Light said no, but the God of Darkness said yes. They fought, and in the end, cursed Salem with immortality. After that, Salem went through the kingdom, gaining supporters. They were going to fight the Gods... it went as well as you think it did." Ozpin said, "Humanity was wiped out, the moon was shattered, and all that remained was Salem."
"All alone?" Nora asked, feeling a moment of sympathy for Salem.
"All alone, nobody else in the entire world but mindless Grimm." Ozpin said, shaking his head. "She tried to end her suffering by jumping into a pit of Grimm essence... it resulted in her changing."
"Changing?" Ren asked.
"He means she turned into a QUEEN Grimm. Pale skin, black as night nerves, white hair, red and black eyes, and could create and control Grimm." Nora answered, remembering the images she got from wearing the crown.
"Precisely, Ms. Valkyrie." Ozpin said with a nod. "She is a threat to everyone in Remnant... she... she killed Summer Rose."
Ruby and Yang gasped from this, the latter turning towards the former as this revelation would shock her the most.
'M-My mom died…by Salem's hand?' Ruby thought.
"I didn't realize what she was doing." Ozpin said, "Had I known about it... I would've done anything to prevent her from trying."
"So you knew their mother was going to die?!" Jaune shouted.
"I didn't know, it is a risk all huntsmen face but Salem especially targets ones with silver eyes. But we are getting off topic." Ozpin said before returning to the story. "Ozma was brought back… in a way. He reincarnates each time he dies into a person with a similar mindset to his own. Once he and Salem reunited, their love sparked once more. They had four girls, but ozma began to notice that Salem was acting… different."
"Different from now?" Ren asked.
"Very different. She wanted to rule all of humanity under the guise of "guiding them" down the proper path. In reality, she was just trying to become a better god than the brothers." Ozpin said, shaking his head.
'I wish I could've been able to help you find a different path.' Ozpin thought
"And what did Ozma do about it? He didn't go along with her plans did he?" Pyrrha asked.
"No. He did not. He couldn't work with her yet at the same time, he couldn't find the woman he loved. So in the middle of the night, Ozma tried to escape with the four children he had with her." Ozpin said with a long sigh. "… sadly… she caught him while trying to escape."
"And…she didn't like it?" Weiss asked delicately.
"No…Salem did not. They fought and the children were…caught in the crossfire, despite how hard Ozma tried to protect them." Ozpin revealed, clenching his fist. "And in the end, their home was left in ruins and Salem pinned all of the blame on Ozma before killing him."
"Well, that was a while ago, right? I'm sure Ozma's latest incarnation has found some way to stop her!" Yang said, still hopeful.
"She can't be stopped." Ozpin said blankly.
"How do you know?!" Yang yelled, "We have to-"
"Because I have tried! Time and time again, I tried and I failed!" Ozpin snapped at them, shattering bis favorite coffee mug!
They were shocked by Ozpin's outburst as he looked out the window, breathing heavily to calm sown.
"... In all the lives I've lived... I've never been able to stop Salem, simply stall her... and it cost me my children and the love of my life." He said, "I will NOT make that mistake this time."
There was a pause.
"... You mean-" Jaune let pjt.
"Yes... I know every bit of the story... because I was there." He said, turning to them once again. "... I am Ozma."
