Chapter Text

Obito yawned. It was dawn, and Suki would be meeting with him in the breakfast place just down his room. They had rented the inn, after taking care of the S rank they were hunting.

Suki didn't sleep. Obito hadn't seen her since yesterday night, when she told him she'll be outside, taking a fresh breath of air.

As Obito zipped up his Akatsuki robe, he read over the mission details Minato had given him, hidden safely in his pocket.

Duration: 11 years.

Eleven years?!

Obito remembered Minato saying something about the mission being long-term, but he was too invested in what type of mask he should wear to hide his face under.

Eleven years.

Tobi rolled his eyes, putting his mask on and slipping into his shoes.

He hummed, skipping downstairs and finding Suki already at the inn table, looking refined and polished, mesh shirt under her robes and all.

She nodded at him as he sat down across her.

'Hullo! Good morning, Suki-chan!' he chirruped. 'Tobi is very hungry! When will food come?'

Suki smiled, looking up from a piece of parchment she was clutching. Tobi noticed, raising an eyebrow.

'So, so?' said Obito, leaning over to peek at the paper. 'Who's that from? Does Suki have a love letter I see-'

'It is our latest mission, this letter is from Pein.' said Suki, chuckling softly. 'Do read it.'

'Let me show you a magic trick, Tobi.' said Suki, as they walked down the road, right after breakfast 'But you must cover your eyes.'

Obito made a face, before sliding his hands under his mask, covering his eyes.

'Open them, now.'

In front of him stood a large dog, dressed in the same red and black dawn clouds, but dog-sized. But this dog was the size of a horse.

'C'mon, sit.' Suki sat on the edge of the dog's back, patting the space beside here. Bewildered, Tobi slowly sat beside. 'What's this, now?'

And suddenly, time began to bend itself. The air twisted and contorted.

It was too similar to Kamui. Obito shook it off.

There were only three people who should know it; which would be himself, Rin and Kakashi. Rin was the head medic, and Kakashi was dead. So why-

Oh, for the love of Kami, Stupid Obito, forget it. Suki just has a similar technique.

'Woah!' Tobi yelled, as they appeared on the top of a green, grassy hill, overlooking the very village where there was supposed to be human trafficking. 'Suki teleported us to our mission site?! How much more cooler are you?'

Suki laughed, dispelling the dog. 'I happen to like teaching my summons my own techniques.'

'How-'

Suki tapped the center of Tobi's mask, where Obito's nose was behind. 'Now, now! That's my secret to tell. Let's get on; we must get that cash and buy dango for Tobi, yes?'

Tobi looked at her with eyes which were probably filled with love.

It was twilight by the time they reached the heart of the village, surrounded by lights and people.

As expected of a human trafficking center ('We're gonna save people from bad situations and be heroes!' Tobi cheered), it was an entertainment district. And night was arriving, which meant single men would be arriving as well, drunk and riled up.

Kakashi let out an irritated sigh as they weaved through the crowd, Tobi's hand tightly clutching her's so as not to get lost, since that would be very unfortunate.

'What's your problem?!'

They bumped into a particular man, who was very obviously someone with zero dignity and-

That rose.

'If any person you see has a white rose on the hem of his sleeves,' Pein had written, 'that is one of the traffickers.'

Kakashi stared at him, gripping the kunai hard under her sleeve (the very kunai Minato had gifted her all those years ago)

Tobi had noticed, too.

'So sorry!' Tobi bowed. 'Maybe we interrupted your little horny stroll to the nearest Oiran. Or maybe you're a single loser in need of the touch of a woman other than your own mom, who doesn't even like you-'

The man aimed a well-formed punch at Tobi's head, which could have broken his nose at the very least, but instead-

Phased through his head.

Oh, for Kami's sake. Maybe he just has a similar technique-

Maybe he's Obito. He came back in spirit because he wuvs you-

Suki, shut the fuck up.

The sound of chains echoed, and before there was a public showdown, Kakashi teleported the three using Kamui to a quiet place not so far away.

She whipped around. Tobi sat on the back of the struggling, choking man, who was flat on his stomach, and blue in the face, while Tobi played with the ends of a long chain, strung tightly around the strangled man.

He looked up, his voice deeper, normal. 'Are you okay?'

Kakashi walked over, crouching down to the blue man. 'I am okay. Can he speak?'

Tobi tilted his head, thinking. 'I don't know.'

'Loosen the chains a little.' she ordered. 'He needs to be interrogated.'

He hesitated a little, before loosening his grip on the chains.

Kakashi lowered her head to meet eyes with the man on the ground. 'Tell me.' she whispered, pulling out the kunai and aligning it to his Adam's apple. 'Who do you work for?'

The man stared, breaking into a smirk. 'Such a pretty face, such a pity I'm not able to fuck you senseless-'

Tobi slammed his foot onto the back of the man's head a bit too viciously, putting pressure in his heels. 'You have been asked a fucking question. Answer it.'

Serves him right.

For once, Suki, I agree with you.

Kakashi pressed the blade against the man's throat. 'I'm asking you again, Mister. Who do you work for and where are they.'

His eyes widened in fear. 'H-House Joyoku, the one beside the waterfall. There is an Oiran up there, her name is Keibetsu Oiran, in a room facing west where sunlight never reaches-'

Kakashi looked up at Tobi, perplexed at the willingness of the confession. Tobi, however, nodded.

What did you do? Kakashi asked with her eyes.

Tobi shrugged, still gripping the chains as if it were a lifeline.

'Well,' Kakashi stood up, placing the kunai back under her sleeve, her left hand, as usual, resting on the chain of her robes. 'we're done here.'

'Do we have any use of this bastard?' Tobi asked, still staring down the man. Kakashi shook her head and turned to leave.

'Good.' his voice said darkly, before the sound of choking erupted, while her partner strangled the man to death.

And he couldn't help it.

'Such a pity I'm not able to fuck you senseless-'

That shit got on Obito's nerves.

The man under him fell limp, not breathing anymore. Obito had completely cut off his oxygen supply in the span of 30 seconds. He let go of the chains and got up, stepping on the man's head one more time before he fell into step beside Suki.

'I want dango.' he whined, back in his obnoxiously high pitched voice.

Suki smiled. 'Glad to know you're back.'

As they walked the path up to House Joyoku.
