Work Text:
Davis was lost.
It hadn't been his intention to lose track of Veemon and walk around the digital world aimlessly, that was kind of what happened at the time. They had been looking for a sanctuary of Angewomon. Mostly so they could check on them, but also so that he could get Kari out of his head after declining to go on a date with him.
“Ugh…” he thought and pushed some vegetation out of the way. While this particular area of the digital world had been mostly unexplored by humans, there was bo-
Davis’s foot gave away, the gogglehead sent flying down the hill. Eyes slamming shut, body spinning about down what looked to be a hill.
.
“Are you alright, dear?”
Davis’s eyes slowly slid open.
The hill that he had slid down was long gone now, having been replaced with what looked to be a room. The walls had been painted a cream yellow color, with bright yellow stone bricks serving as the floor. Which was where he found himself at the moment. But that didn’t explain the Angewomon standing over him.
“Kinda.” Davis answered, looking up to the angelic digimon. While he would never admit that he was jealous, he had a soft spot for them. “Could you tell me where I am?”
The angewomon let out a chuckle. Kneeling down, her gaze met her patient for the moment. So close, Davis’s heart started to beat even faster. Yet, he tried his best to ignore this feeling. It was probably nothing. Sure, Angewomon was cute. But that went without saying.
“You’re in a sanctuary.” she cooed, gloved finger tapping Davis’s nose. His face went red, what looked to be a smile forming on the ultimate’s face. “We found you beat and without your clothes. Oh right. I'm Sister Dusk.”
Putting a hand behind her back, the angewomon pulled what looked to be an outfit of sorts.
“This all we have for the moment.” she continued, Davis’s face turning to this gift. While similar to the garb worn by his rescuer, this lacked the helmet and ribbon. “Is there something wrong?”
Davis shook his head, standing up. While his center of gravity felt off, he managed to keep himself up.
“Not at all.” he answered, Angewomon making her exit. “Now, where to start?”
Looking over his options, Davis eventually picked out the smaller set of belts. Sliding them up his right leg, he took the time to make sure he had them on tightly. That way, they wouldn’t slide off while walking around. Even then, these looked to be designed for a woman far taller and larger than the gogglehead. While it would really matter now, that was something to keep in the back of his head.
Turning his attention back to the clothes, Davis picked the leotard up. Unzipping both zippers, the gogglehead slipped his left leg into this strange garment. While his privates did make it clear that he was in fact ‘male’, that was the least of his worries for the moment.
Picking up the second set of belts, the gogglehead wrapped them around his stomach. Tightening them up, he wasn’t quite getting the same effect as an Angewomon would get. Even then, it did make Davis slightly curvy.
“Almost there.” he thought, slipping the long white glove and zipped up his leotard. Turning his attention to the nipple ornaments, the gogglehead raised them to his chest. From the looksie, they clipped to the nipple. Throwing all caution to the wind, he did just that. “Not that bad.”
Taking a couple steps around, Davis headed for the door. Pushing it open, he found Angewomon waiting outside.
“How do I look?” Davis inquired and got a gloved thumbs-up from his rescuer. Cheeks turning red, he tried his best to look away. “Thanks…”
Angewomon nodded, taking the time to look over the gogglehead once more. He looked like the perfect candidate to join the others in the Sanctuary.
“Would you like a bite to eat?” Angewomon inquired, a rumble echoed from Davis’s stomach. So grabbing hold of his hand, the pair made their way down the hall. Passing by other Angewomon, Davis tried his best to keep his focus on the path ahead. Especially as it took a turn and dumped them out into a large room. There, even more Angewomon went about their day, having a meal for the moment.
“Welcome to the canteen.” she greeted and head over to a small nook. There, another Angewomon is hard at work making… something. “Luna! We have someone new here!”
Focusing in on Davis, the cook stopped what she was doing. But not before dishing out a bowl of whatever she was making currently.
“Hi there!” this angewomon greeted, bringing a finger to Davis’s mouth. “What’s your name?”
Davis looked down at himself. The answer seemed to be right on the tip of his tongue at the moment. But try as he might, it just slipped away.
“Uh… Dawn.” he answered, getting a nod from both Angewomon. A handshake followed. “I took a tumble and I can’t really remember much.”
Dusk turned to the other Angewomon. Whispering followed, not the gogglehead could really catch a word that they were saying currently.
“Since you’re already dressed this way, maybe you could become an Angewomon?” Dusk continued, Dawn unsure what to think. They were a boy. A human on top of that. There was no way that he could become something as beautiful and graceful as an Angewomon. Yet, there’s something genuine to her offer. Nor was there anything to really lose right now.
“I accept.” Dawn answered and watched both angewomon bright up in that moment. “When does my training start?” Dusk let out a chuckle.
“Once you’ve had your breakfast, dear.” she explained, handing her pupil the bowl and a spoon. “If you eat a diet similar to ours, you should be an Angewomon in no time.”
Dawn nodded, accepting the meal. Walking over to a nearby table, he sat down and gingerly scooped up the meal. While some strength had returned to his body, the recruit was nowhere near what he once was.
"What did you think?" Dusk inquired and watched her pupil head back over. Setting the bowl down, his gaze shifted to her.
"Alright." Dawn answered, gaze split between Dusk and the other Angewomon at this particular moment. “Though, I think I could get used to it.”
Getting a pair of nods, the angewomon pair lead Dawn out of the dining hall and down an entirely different hall. Twisting both left and right, they eventually stop in front of a door.
“Here is where we train.” Dusk explained and pulled open the door, revealing a large circular room. There, archery targets have been set up with Angewomon hard at work on their celestial arrow attack. “Why don’t you take a shot?”
Dawn nodded and entered the arena. Heart racing a mile a minute, this was a chance for him to shine and show his rescuers all that he could do.
Closing his eyes, he felt the wings on his glove extend out into their bow form. The arrow appeared right after. Grabbing hold of it with his free hand, Dawn pulled it back and let the projectile fly. Didn’t get too far - maybe a couple of feet at most.
“For a first attempt, that’s pretty good.” Dusk remarked, bow arms receding back on Dawn’s end as he let out a deep breath. His whole body felt like it was on fire, muscles used that he possibly didn't even know he had. "You'll get it eventually. Let me take you back to my room."
Dawn nodded, finding himself getting picked up by the angewomon. The walk that followed is short and sweet. Mostly because Dusk's room was right around the corner.
"Here we are." she greeted and set her guest down on a bed. The architecture had even been continued into here, not that Dawn minded it. "Welcome to our humble order, Dawn."
She got a smile for that remark, taking the time to seat herself down.
.
The rest of Dawn's initial week passed without incident. He would get up with Dusk, have breakfast, do his prayers with the other angewomon and help with cleanup of the sanctuary. Then it would be lunch. Joining Dusk and some of her companions, they would savor their meal. The afternoon prayer came right after that, followed by training. Which was where we find our Angewomon-in-training now.
"Look, Dusk!" Dawn announced, glove-bow at the ready. Firing an arrow off, he followed it up with a second one. Even if both projectiles made it only ten or more feet. Still progress. "I'm getting better!"
Dusk nodded. Even outside of her pupil's improved accuracy there were smaller subtler changes at work. For starters, the belts on his legs had become a slightly better fit on his leg. His steps were smaller, but more in sync with her's and the other Angewomon. The meals were doing their job, bringing the necessary nutrients to make a strong and beautiful angelic digimon out of this boy. The Angewomon just knew it.
"Yes you are." she answered, gaze catching the locks of burgundy hair that hung from Dawn's head. While the temptation to dye it blonde was definitely there, that wasn't what Dusk had in mind. "Though Dawn, it looks like you've been neglecting your grooming duties."
Dawn's gaze shot over. While he wasn't sure what exactly had been forgotten, there was no reason not to disbelieve his trainer for the moment.
"Can you teach me then?" Dawn inquired, watching Dusk pull out a hairbrush from… somewhere. Making her way over, she pulled the tool through her pupil's locks. What had once been tangled and spiky gave way to long, smooth locks. “So I just need to take care of my hair and it’ll look just as nice as yours?”
Dusk nodded, handing the brush over to Dawn. Her pupil accepted the gesture, even if he wasn’t sure if this was the only one she had.
“Thank you.” he explained and headed back to his room. For now at least, he could just keep it right beside his bed. It was one more activity to add to his daily routine. Not that he really saw this as a bad thing in the coming days. No, his focus turned to the chest area by the end of the month. No one had really paid it much mind (outside of himself, of course), but he would swear that the chest ornaments would jiggle with every step. That, and his waist was a lot closer to Dusk than it was when he joined his fellow Angewomon.
“Dusk, can I ask you something?” he called out, grabbing the hairbrush and beginning his hair care. At this point, he could feel his hair brush up against his back at times. It wasn't bad per say, just weird at times.
"Go on ahead, dear." Dusk answered and focused on Dawn's chest. Placing her unloved hand on the left nipple, she gave it a slight rub.
"Stop that…" Dawn moaned and got a chuckle from her companion. While a touch smaller than her's, she could already see an Angewomon ready to take the next step on her journey.
"It would like we have ourselves a girl on her way to become an Angewomon." Dusk continued, her roommate's turning a very pretty shade of pink at that moment. Even more so as Dusk put a finger to her lips. The scent of strawberries hung on, even if the last. Dawn made a mental note for later. "Not much longer till you'll have a beautiful set of wings and be ready to truly become an Angewomon."
Dawn hung to each word spoken. She hadn't expected it to be this easy to become an Angewomon. There had to be some catch to this deal. But try as she might, no such catch came to her mind. If anything, she saw possible opportunities - missions that she and Dusk could partake in.
.
As it would turn out, 'not much longer' meant another two months of routine for Dawn. With Dusk's help, she had gained quite a number of friends. All of which were supportive of her goal to become just like them. Of course, they had also decided she needed to have the large plum-colored scroll to hang from the back of her leotard. Not that Dawn really noticed it after a couple of days of wearing the accessory. She was unsure about putting on the angewomon helmet, mostly because of the lack of eyesight.
With it came an increased training effort. No more was it just Celestial Arrow at a target for days on end. There were other moves that Angewomon needed to know. Things like Heaven Charm and Saint Air for example.
“Good work.” Dusk announced, going in for a kiss. Dawn accepted the gesture, even if she wasn’t entirely sure why her fellow Angewomon did it. Sure, Dusk made her heart go aflutter and brought her thoughts of companionship. But would they be allowed to be together? If not, then what? Was there some other solution that could work here? “Would it be wrong to see you as my girlfriend?”
Her words ring out, Dawn staring at her companion. Sure, this very thought was just running through her head at that exact moment. This had to be a coincidence. No way Dusk could’ve read her mind. Even if she could, was it really that obvious that much she cared about her fellow Angewomon.
“Of course!” Dawn blurted out and grabbed hold of Dusk’s hands. She would be both the best Angewomon and girlfriend that she could be. There was no doubt about it. Even if it took everything in the angelic’s digimon power, she would accomplish her mission. Just they watch.
