Chapter Text
The other day, Soupers received a text from Demara about going on a double date, and having nothing else to do, they accepted (using speech to text to create a somewhat coherent response). The only downside was that Soup told their partner only a couple hours before.
"Soupers.. Y' really have t' tell me about stuff earlier, we don't know how long it'll take to drive 'ere and neither o' us are ready." the cryptid sitting next to him only blinked in response. Norm sighed but didn't press the issue further.
"I think it'd be best if you started t' get ready, can't have you going there like ya jus' crawled outta a pig sty" Soup nodded and went over to the bathroom, grabbing some clothes before going in.
-
Soup closed the bathroom door and grabbed a hairbrush, it looked pretty old with some bristles missing, but it'd work. They began to brush out the knots in their fur while humming, tapping their foot with annoyance whenever they had to rebrush the same area multiple times.
Despite Norm practically BEGGING Soup to wear something that wasn't revealing, when they came out of the bathroom, they were wearing shorts that could best be described as 'something my grandmother would NOT approve of' and a cropped shirt that was gifted to them for their birthday a year ago.
The cowboy sighed once more and tsked as he adjusted the bag to fit properly over his head, although some of his hair stuck out from underneath. Needless to say, this man was in need of a haircut but didn't care enough to do anything about it.
Soup was putting on their earrings and ring as Norm tried to smooth out the wrinkles in his space suit, much to his dismay, he'd likely need an iron for that to work in his favor. Giving up on that, Norm grabbed his hat and placed it ontop of the bag, careful not to accidentally smush it.
-
Soup checked their phone and looked up at Norm before speaking "We have about an hour, maybe we could stop buy somewhere and get some food first?" they inhaled quickly before continuing "I heard there's a place about 15 minutes away."
"Sure, I reckon we could check it out. D'ya know the name of the place?" his question got no verbal response, but instead nervous fidgeting from Soup.
"..I'll take that as a no."
Soup sat on the bed and pulled out their phone, bouncing their leg as they pulled out a picture of the place then practically shoving the phone in their husband's face (or well- bag.) "THIS." Norm flinched backwards from the sudden movement and loudness. "I-I'm right 'ere pardner, no need t' yell."
"Sorry.. I was excited because I found it. Can we still go?" They pulled the phone away, after a few seconds Norm sat next to them and grabbed their phone to check the location. "Not sure if you can get an actual meal at a cafe, but we can go if ya really want."
They sat up straight and hugged Norm, pressing their face against the bag, sort of like an indirect kiss. "Thaaaankk youuu Normieee" once done with their display of gratitude affection, they stood up and grabbed Norm's hand, trying to get him to stand up. "C'monnn let's goooo-"
Norman let out a small laugh at their antics and smiled under the bag, standing up giving their hand a light squeeze.
"Alright, alright. Let's get goin' then."
-
While Norm was already settled in the truck, ready to turn the key, Soup was struggling to buckle their seatbelt. Although they did have a prosthetic arm that would make this alot easier for them, they rarely used it due to what was left of their right arm getting too itchy.
"..You do realize you can ask me fer help, right?"
"I. Must. Make the clicky noise. Meself."
Norm rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, choosing to just look out the window for a bit. It took a solid 5 minutes for them to finally buckle themself in, but when they did they simply let out a high pitched yippee.
"There y' go, good job." He turned the carkey and started up the truck. "I'm soo coolé.." was muttered under Soup's breath.
