Chapter 1: prologue
Chapter Text
”My heart is so full of you that i can hardly call it my own
Takashi Mitsuya had serious problems. He received daily beatings that weren't even his. He was 13 years old, and every day he woke up covered in bruises. Injuries of all kinds were the most annoying thing in the universe.
He couldn't look his sisters in the face without them seeing his face all beaten up, and the bruises weren't even his.
As soon as your second gender revealed itself, if you were a beta, nothing happened, but if you were an alpha or omega, your body began to receive the blows of your omega or alpha, destined so that when they met, they would suffer the same bruises. The only thing that didn't remain were the scars.
But that didn't take away the constant pain. Mitsuya wondered if his omega was beating himself up to find Takashi faster, although if so, Takashi would be very angry.
Although, well, he wasn't the only one of his friends in that situation. Manjiro, or Mikey, as everyone called him, always appeared all beaten up.
How could anyone hit the invincible Mikey? because no one do it Mikey always got those bruises, they hadn't been him. And from the twenty minutes he spent complaining every day when he met up with his friends, it was obvious why.
Although Mitsuya didn't usually pay much attention to him because he always said the same thing, nothing to Mitsuya's interest.
Baji used to make fun of them a lot, because the only one had bruises on his body that weren't his, while Mitsuya and Mikey were the only ones who were always all full of bruises.
Takashi sometimes wished he was a beta like Draken or Pah-Chin. They didn't have to go through this, they didn't receive bumps or bruises that weren't theirs. That would be his dream, to stop collecting other people's bruises.
There were two options: his destined omega was someone very combative, or he or she would get beaten up a lot at home. Mitsuya, for his own sanity, preferred the first option.
His destined omega had to be someone very combative.
Chapter 2: candy-flavored bruises
Chapter Text
“in a room full of art I am only looking you
There are those who consider the connection that exists between two true soulmates to be something too unique and ethereal for the mere human mind.
Soulmates, whose bonds are stronger than others, have the ability to feel each other's physical pain; even the scars are etched on both bodies.
Because these people must not only share experiences, memories, and love, but also pain. That would be the bond that would bind them forever. No matter what happened, soulmates were always apart. You couldn't avoid them. They shared pain and thoughts. The whole life of the other would always belong to them.
Takashi Mitsuya's life had been perfect until he was nine years old. When someone turned nine, their second gender was discovered. To Mitsuya's terrible luck, he was an alpha.
The second worst category after omegas. They had it worse, at least that's what he used to tell himself whenever he felt bad. Omegas had a harder time looking for a job or doing something normally considered for alphas.
The hits were constant. Every day there was a new one. It was so frustrating. If he had hit himself, he wouldn't have had such a problem and would blame himself for his stupidity. But it was different. These hits weren't his, they were someone else's, which was stressful.
As horrible as when Mana cried for hours on end because he didn't like something, or as horrible as when Luna accidentally broke one of his designs. It was as horrible as those two things together, even worse.
Sometimes when he saw Mikey all beaten up, he felt a little better, but it was still annoying. He hated it. If this was some kind of test of destiny, then it was a test of horrible, disgusting disgust.
He hated this with all his heart because he couldn't be an ordinary beta without having to go through this nonsense. At least this way, he could do whatever he wanted without having to worry about someone else taking his hits.
Right now, he was in the park with Mana and Luna. The two were running from one side to the other. Mitsuya had to stop them from time to time so they wouldn't hit each other, at least not in front of him. He wouldn't want to see that.
He heard a commotion on the other side of the park. What the hell? This is a playground. There was no way there was some kind of gang nearby. Besides, this was Toma territory. He started looking around and saw a boy who looked tall from afar, on top of another boy, hitting him. Screams could be heard all the way to where Mitsuya was.
"I told you to leave me alone!" The taller boy seemed to say. Takashi stood up. He was going to stop this fight. He wasn't going to let his sisters see that.
He got up from the bench he was sitting on and began to regret staying calm, but no, he needed to stop this fight.
When he was behind the taller guy, he started to regret it since this wasn't his problem. He turned around, thinking about leaving, but he saw Mana and Luna spying from a God Tree. He couldn't disappoint his little sisters like that.
So he gathered his courage and grabbed the taller boy's arm just as he was about to hit the other boy whose arm Takashi was grabbing. He smelled like blueberries, how weird.
When the boy turned around, Takashi almost fainted. He had a bruise from a slap, about the same size as Mitsuya. Oh god, oh god, it couldn't be true. His neck had a bruise just like Mitsuya's. Holy crap. The two looked at each other in silence. The other boy took the opportunity to escape and run away.
Mitsuya was rethinking his existence, damn it, they're taking it, everything crossed his mind, blueberries. Blueberries were a fruit he hated, it tasted horrible, even in sweets. Oh, Baji and Kazutora would tease him nonstop for this having been his encounter with his destined omega. He probably won't escape those taunts until his 20s.
The boy looked at him before saying, "I'm Hakkai Shiba," said the omega as he got up from the ground. He was much taller than Mitsuya, definitely at least three inches. God, the alpha here was supposed to be him.
Mitsuya quickly realized he'd been silent for a minute, staring into space, so he quickly said, "Oh, yes, I'm Takashi Mitsuya."
"You smell like candy, Taka," Hakkai replied before turning around and heading straight for the park exit. What the hell just happened?
He was so confused that he would faint right there, he wouldn't separate from such a strange and horrible encounter with his destined one. He expected something better. Maybe Mitsuya would complain for a while that Hakkai got into fights a lot, since from what he had seen, Hakkai hit people repeatedly, according to his quick deduction.
Although when Hakkai left, he was red-faced, muttering things about how strange this boy was. Takashi felt like two small bodies were hugging his legs. They were probably his sisters. It must have been too late for them to be grabbing him.
“he was screwed in the worst way without flowers or words of encouragement”

Chapter Text

"I like disasters."
Hakka Shiba had never been particularly important to anyone. The youngest son in a somewhat dysfunctional family, his mother dead for as long as he could remember.
Well, maybe not quite. If he wasn't mistaken, his mother had died when he was five, though he wasn't entirely sure.
Honestly, his older brother, Taiju, was strange, very strange. According to what he'd learned at school, omegas like him were supposed to be a little kinder and not hit anyone—submissive or something like that. He didn't quite understand it, but his older brother had never believed in it. He used to be too strong, well, he was too strong. He hit hard, very hard. He used to teach them with blows, which he didn't like; it hurt his body a lot.
Sometimes he always ended up getting beaten up if he did something wrong. If he acted too weak or even went near anyone Taiju considered a bad influence. His father was never home; it was just him, Taiju, and Yuzuha. Yuzuha couldn't do much, even though she was an alpha. She was still developing, not even her The pheromones were too strong, more like candy. They didn't smell of anything; they were simply there, fluttering around the house. People might say their pain mingled with their sister's,
but that wasn't true. They never had any scent, as far as he was concerned. They were always in their own worlds, especially Taiju. If he wasn't hitting them, he was just sitting in the living room staring into space, doing nothing, just breathing. Sometimes he seemed like a robot, like a giant robot that just sat around doing nothing until it could scold someone for something.
He never did anything else, or maybe sometimes, almost never, he'd make them food. That was if he woke up in a good mood; otherwise, they had the misfortune of waking up in his morning rage. That usually only happened during Taiju's heats. He didn't quite understand why, since he hadn't had one yet.
Although Hakkai hadn't had one yet, he was terrified of heats. If his brother could just go a little crazy with a little heat... And pain. He would die. He was almost certain he wasn't that strong. He would probably faint; it was the most likely outcome, or he wouldn't be able to endure it. Taiju used to say he was a weakling, and besides, he couldn't defend himself. That's why Yuzuha did it. Even if she hit boys weaker than him, she couldn't defend herself against Taiju, and she never would. That's why he had the scar on his mouth. He seriously prayed that his destined mate wouldn't be angry about the number of blows Darío had to receive.
He felt bad, he promised, but he couldn't do anything to prevent it. He swore it wasn't his fault.
He wanted to apologize when he saw him. He really was weak, very weak.
Taiju was scary, even if he didn't know it. Hakkai read books, many books. He had recently learned something new: omegas needed to be saved by their destined alpha. Because omegas were weak, their only salvation was to be behind an alpha who would protect them.
That's why the nests existed, to attract their destined alpha, and that's why they released pheromones.
Hakkai had never laughed so hard in his life. Taiju didn't have a nest, and he never would. He'd heard him once say that making a nest was the same as acting like a slut in heat all day.
Phermonones? Taiju had perfumes and patches to cover up any of his own scent. The only time Hakkai had smelled him was last Christmas, when he'd accompanied Taiju to church to pray, though he hadn't enjoyed it much.
Hakkai received his older brother's hug for the first time when the bells rang. Hakkai didn't know how long the hug lasted, but it was warm. Taiju smelled like strawberries and peaches, although after a minute, Taiju pushed him away, but that wasn't the point. He wanted to be like Taiju. If he hid his scent, he wouldn't have to worry about being asked about his height or why an omega like him was always hitting people. Alphas had it easier.
They always had excuses about being alphas to beat each other up.
Right now, he was beating up some guy who hadn't left him alone since he entered the park. Taiju had finally left him alone, so he wasn't planning on letting some idiot ruin it.
"I told you to leave me alone!" — he said angrily, his knuckles beginning to fill with blood. He didn't like this.
He heard noises from behind, but he didn't care much. He was more inclined to indulge in this; it wasn't as if anyone was going to stop him. Then, someone grabbed his arm. Just as he was about to deliver the final blow to the idiot, Hakkai turned around angrily.
Hakkai almost fainted. He saw a boy who didn't look like an alpha. He looked softer, but he had the same bruises as Hakkai: on his neck, on his face. Oh god, Hakkai's heart leapt out of his chest.
He noticed the boy he'd been hitting leaving, but he didn't pay much attention. He turned to the one who seemed to be his destined alpha.
"I'm Hakkai Shiba," the omega said as he got up from the ground. Oh, this alpha was short. Hakkai had to look down to see him. He felt like Taiju, though. Well, the alpha hadn't been talking for at least a minute. How strange.
The alpha seemed to quickly realize he'd been silent for a minute, staring into space, so he quickly said, "Ah, yes, I'm Takashi Mitsuya."
How cute, Hakkai thought. He wanted to hug him, but he'd probably get squashed. He seemed a little older than him, but he wasn't sure. He smelled like Yuzuha—like caramel, but stronger, like the caramel cream on chocolates.
"You smell like caramel, Taka," Hakkai replied before turning around. And he headed straight for the park exit. Yuzuha would probably be happy to hear that Hakkai had found his destined alpha. Taiju, not so much. He was in for a good beating at home.
"If it's meant to be, it will be."
