Chapter 1: The Hunt Begins
Chapter Text
The Hunt Begins
The cloaked figure watched on in annoyance, leaning against the wall as the “Leader” began his speech. He scoffed to himself, ‘Right, “Leader”. What a joke.’
‘Just get in, stop him, get out. Simple so please be quiet.’ He could feel the eye roll from here as the voice replied, ‘Fine, only if I can eat him.’ He promptly ignored his partner.
“Open the portal Kurogiri, let's start this level.” The swirl of black and purple mist slowly engulfed the group of street Villains. “Let’s have some fun.” Toxic green eyes peered through the smooth red mask as black filled his vision.
“Stay back! Those are real villains!” The figure recognized the voice immediately. Could it be? His gaze flicked up the steps towards the crowd awaiting them. ‘Rescue Hero Thirteen, Quirk: Black Hole.’ A quick scan of the class revealed the second teacher. The infamous Hero of the knight, “Eraserhead!”
Giddy excitement seeped into his voice as he called out to the startled teacher. Almost immediately after spotting the Villain, Eraser leaped into action, launching himself down and gunning it for-
*GRUNT* The villain felt the kick echo through his body before becoming weightless as Eraser swung him into the water with his capture weapon.
‘So cool.’ He thought to himself. ‘Enough fanboying, we got a job to do.’ Inky black and red began to ooze from the sinking body, tendrils covered the body as he turned towards the distant splashes of bodies in the lake. ‘Yeah Yeah, Fine. Let’s get this over with.’ The now inky beast instantly sped into the murky depths of the water.

Tsuyu Asui prided herself on her self-control. From her emotions to poker face and especially her instincts. All under constant control. And yet…
*DANGER*
*RUN*
*DEATH*
Her instincts were SCREAMING at her. A suffocating pressure and chill ensnaring her entire being in the water. All the water around her carried the promise of death that only her animal side could nearly taste. Even after knocking out the shark villain, she could feel the impending doom draw closer and closer.
And then nothing. The feeling stopped. Everything stopped.
Everything was still.
Everything was silent.
A silence and stillness that signaled the beginning of a hunt. And she was the prey.
She froze in place with even the other animal based Villains freezing in their tracks. Even those with no animal mutation froze at the intense pressure now watching them. Several eyes darted every which way.
She could feel eyes watching her, analyzing her, but she didn’t dare move. She couldn’t even if she tried, her instincts had chosen to freeze over everything, for they knew that any movement promised instant death.
But it seems another was not so lucky.
“Fuck this!” One of the villains shouted. He pressed a button on his pack, a powerful vortex of water propelling him towards the plaza. He didn’t even get a few feet before a tentacle as dark as the depths below her shot upwards, snapping round the entire body of the writhing villain.
Tsu flinched violently as crunches echoed out, the now limp body being quickly dragged down into the abyss. Whether it was from the pack he wore shattering from the pressure or bones being ground to dust, she didn’t care as dozens of tendrils shot up ensnaring several Villains at once, dragging even more down into whatever fate awaited them in the abyss.
She refused to acknowledge the snuffed out screams around her as she made a mad dash towards the boat above her. Her tongue wrapped around the edge as she hauled herself up, startling a crying Mineta and shaking Tokoyami.
She instantly scrambled as far into the ship as she could, the boat rocking violently as if something was attempting to drag it down.
All 3 students huddled close as everything stilled once more. No screaming, no sounds of fighting, nothing. Just the soft sway of the boat and light splashes of water hitting the hull. No one dared move lest they attract the attention of the monster in the deep. Even after the presence had left, even after the authorities arrived, they stayed huddled on the boat.
It wasn’t until they were hauled onto shore by the heroes did they speak their first words to the world around them.
Chapter 2: A Wish For The Hearing And The Unseen

A Wish For The Hearing And The Unseen
Jirou loved her quirk. Sure it sucked sometimes, like when noises got so overwhelming to the point of migraines, but it was worth it to be able to hear what she called, the ‘living rhythm’. When the hearts of people would beat as one, usually at musical events like concerts and such. When your entire being follows the rhythm of the music. It was euphoric.
Her quirk was also good for listening out for ambushes, such as when the sorry excuse for villains attempted to sneak up on Momo while she was creating something big.
But it had its limits, one of which being the struggle of hearing things underground, such as the electric villain currently holding her dumb face Pikachu classmate, who had erupted from the ground after his indiscriminate shock.
And here both girls stood frozen, watching the villain threaten his life if they so much as breathed wrong. She didn’t know what to do, neither of them did. Her first attempt had resulted in an absolute failure as the villain saw straight through her “distraction”. And now she could nothing but watch as one of her classmates lives was about to be en-
Claws of red burst from the ground around them, easily engulfing both villain and hostage and dragging them back underground before anyone could scream or shout.
Jirou loved her quirk, but oh how she wished she could stop her quirk from honing onto the sounds of crunching bone and gurgling screams from deep underground.
The world above was silent to everyone except to Jirou and the dead.

When Hagakure was a child, she had often wished she could be seen. She dreamed of a day when guys she confessed to didn’t immediately think of her as a stalker or weird just because of her quirk. She would spend hours imagining what her own face looked like in the mirror based on what she could feel with her hands. On most days, she begged to be seen by anyone.
But today, right now, standing far too close to the hulking monster of inky black and red, she thanked whatever God had granted her with this power.
‘There’s a second one?!’ She had screamed in her head. She had almost mistaken the beast for the one at the plaza if it wasn’t for the red and black colors and tentacles sprouting from its back. Currently, it appeared to be observing her dual-hair colored classmate as he swiftly defeated each and every villain around him. She herself was nearly caught in the blast, but a silent jump back into the bushes had saved her feet from frostbite. That was when she saw it, or rather heard it.
It wasn’t moving, completely still with milky white eyes gazing at, what she assumed to be, his imprisoned allies. ‘It isn’t breathing?’ She realized with confusion. The only indication that it was even alive was the (3?) nearly silent voices coming from its unmoving mouth.
‘Coldandhot…’
‘Threatifhe…’
‘Wearenot…’
‘Doens’tneedhishead… ’
She considered trying to move away when the thing snapped around. It seemed to listen to something far away as it growled in frustration. It silently turned and lumbered away. Before she could even let out a breath of relief the monster whispered out something that caused the pit in her stomach to weigh down tenfold.
“Watch yourself, young one. Or you just might learn whether your blood is as invisible outside your body as it is inside.” Its voice was warped and deep, a second, higher voice echoing behind the first with a giggle. Shaking her to her core as the meaning of his words registered in her mind.
It knew she was there. It had seen her.
A single thin tendril reached out to pat her head before retreating into the dark of the foliage around them.
It took nearly 2 hours for the paramedics to find Hagakure, curled up in the same spot with tracks that led towards the plaza.
On most days, Hagakure would wish for anyone to see her, and today, her wish had been granted.
