It was Australia, the first race of the season, media Thursday. The press conference had been supposed to be routine, but Liam couldn’t resist. When asked about him getting the red bull seat over yuki, he flashed that sharp grin of his and said, “Well, at least I don’t scream at my engineers every other lap. Helps the team focus.”
The reporters laughed. The headline practically wrote itself.
And Yuki—sitting two chairs away, jaw clenched tight—pretended not to hear. But the moment replayed in his head all day, every word stinging sharper than it should have.
By night, he’d had enough. He stormed into Liam’s driver room. door slamming so hard the walls rattled.
“You think you’re funny?” Yuki snapped, his voice low but shaking with fury.
Liam looked up, still in his team polo, cool as ever. “If the shoe fits.”
“You think you’re better than me, just because you finally got the red by,my seat? seat?” Yuki stepped closer, jabbing a finger into Liam’s chest. “You don’t know half of what I’ve done for VCARB.”
Liam’s smirk didn’t falter. “At least I don’t act like a child when things don’t go my way.”
That did it. Yuki shoved him, hard enough that Liam stumbled back against the sofa. The air between them burned hot with anger—too hot. Their faces were inches apart, words turning into ragged breaths. Liam’s smirk softened into something else, something dangerous.
And then it snapped.
Yuki grabbed his collar and kissed him—furious, bruising, as if to prove a point. Liam froze for half a second before he kissed back, his hand sliding to Yuki’s jaw, pulling him in tighter. The confrontation melted into something messier, hungrier. Their mouths clashed, just like monza 2019, this time with their lips instead of their cars.
They tumbled onto the sofa, Yuki straddling Liam, their hands frantic, tugging at fabric, desperate to get closer. Every insult they’d ever thrown at each other seemed to bleed into the kiss—anger turned into heat, resentment into desire.
When they finally pulled apart, breathless and flushed, silence fell heavy in the room. Yuki’s eyes burned into Liam’s, searching, daring him to say something.
“Still think you’re too emotional,” Liam muttered, lips curling into a half-smile.
Yuki shoved him again, but this time he was grinning too.
