Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Yuder never considered herself to be anything special, she was never popular, but she didn’t mind, she lived just fine without useless people thirsting over her.

Yuder was born in a plain mountain village, she grew up with her grandfather, which unfortunately died when she was only 13, leaving her to fend for herself.  Yuder has always been strong, she could lift heavy weight and her hands weren’t soft like other girls her age, instead, they were calloused and damaged from the constant work Yuder put them through, but she herself didn’t mind, if her hands allowed her to do what she needed to, then that was enough, she was never seeking the attention of boys anyways.

At 15 years old Yuder went to the city for the first time alone, seeking for job opportunities, because the money her grandfather left her when he died couldn’t last forever. The money was used for daily expenses, and selling wood wasn’t giving back enough to make a profit, leaving Yuder with nothing.  She sold her grandfather’s house for a ridiculous price, then used that to go to the city, seeking for a new chance, and hopefully a new home.

Finding a job soon proved to be very difficult, after all she was only carrying basic documents, which proved her to have only graduated middle school, not enough to work, Yuder frowned.

‘…how will I even find a job? I need to be 18 for most and each and one of them require experience, ugh.’ Yuder pondered as she walked steadily, backpack mostly empty, that’s when she noticed a girl crying on the floor, Yuder approached her quietly.

“…are you okay?”  When the girl didn’t respond, she kneeled down to her level and raised her rough sounding voice. “…Girl? I’m talking to you”

Kanna flinched. “Ah! I’m sorry… hah, I’m alright…my dad somewhat kicked me out.”

“…kicked you out? Why?” Yuder gestured to sit on a nearby bench, the young woman following behind her.

“I’m not his legitimate child, he accepted keeping me around for whatever reason, but apparently-” Kanna’s voice lowered, a frown appearing on her soft face. “He didn’t want me there anymore, so he cut me off” she sighed quietly. “I’m… looking for a job, a house, whatever really, I’m just lost.”

Yuder nodded seriously. “Got it, I’m in a similar situation, although not as bad, I ran out of money and am looking for somewhere to stay, eventually a job too, my name is Yuder Aile.”

“Ah, yes” Kanna nodded. “I’m sorry for meeting you when I’m such a mess” a genuine smile painted her face for a moment. “Right. My name is Kanna Wand, nice to meet you, Yuder.”

Yuder soon stood up. “Let’s go looking then, who do you think would accept to hire or host two young girls?”

Kanna gazed at those blank, voidlike eyes for a second, observing the young girl that was looking down at her, waiting for a response.

Yuder had black eyes, her skin was pale, something many girls dreamed of nowadays.  her hair was kept short, somewhat messy, Kanna could see hair strands flying up everywhere, most definitely cut by Yuder herself. Kanna silently continued in her observation: she noticed that the back hair was longer, almost fully covering the exposed nape; the girl’s clothes were simple, a shirt that seemed older than the Yuder herself, some light pants and a backpack.

‘She’s objectively gorgeous, could have been a model.’

Distracting her eyes for a second, she nodded, parting her lips.

“There is a pharmacy down the road, the owner is very nice.” Kanna smiled at the thought. “I think we can seek out some help there, he might be able to tell us what to do.”

It didn’t take long for the girls to reach the pharmacy, its location was somewhat hidden, a couple turns away from the main hallway.

“Here, let’s go in.” A door was opened, and a rough voice echoed within the enclosed space.

“Welcome, what-” amber coloured eyes looked up, silently widening. “Ah, Kanna. I had suspected something had happened, I would have come to seek you out either way, good thing you’re making my job easier.”

Kanna respectfully bowed her head, and Yuder just stood there, listening to the conversation.

“Enon, I knew it would happen, but my dad kicked me out, I really need somewhere to stay while I find a job…ah! And this is Yuder, she helped me up when she found me.”

Enon nodded, observing the young, taller girl standing next to Kanna, his eyes squinted.

“Mhm… Yuder, your hands seem damaged, let me give you something to put there”

Yuder looked up, seriously speaking. “No.  I don’t have any money with me.”

Kanna smiled. “He won’t charge you for it don’t worry, he does this with everyone really, just show him your hands”

‘…whatever.’ If her palms being all clean and pretty could make them more efficient then so be it, she presented her hands and let Enon cover them with some light cream.

A soft sigh emitted from Enon’s lips. “Alright… Kanna you can stay here, this place might not be big, but you can sleep in the bedroom, I’ll take the main area.” Enon’s eyes looked straight at Yuder. “Why did you bring this girl with you?”

“she told me she didn’t have anywhere to stay…” puppy eyes tried to convince amber coloured ones. “She’s looking for a job too, we won’t stay long, can we stay here for now?”

Despite everything, if someone was in need Enon would help them, sighing, he gave in.

“Alright, but neither of us know this girl, if she wants to stay here, she needs to present proper information and tell us everything.”

“Enon-” Kanna started, before a hand appeared right in front of her.

“It’s alright, it’s only fair.” Yuder said, soon rummaging through her backpack, picking out yellowed papers, they were all documents. birth certificate, middle school graduation… soon, everything was neatly laid out on the table, under Enon’s careful gaze.

“Mhm, alright, these are definitely legit, you can stay here for now, but I’m keeping an eye on you, you can sleep in the bedroom with Kanna, you’ll just have to find a way because it’s very small, all the more reason for you to soon find somewhere to stay”

The room was small, that was undeniable, But Yuder was never accustomed to luxury anyway, so she didn’t have any trouble adapting, instead, the next morning she directly went around looking for a job.

The days passed, and so did the months, despite the many attempts, most people wouldn’t hire young girls full time, thus Yuder was only able to get his hands on low-income part time jobs, running errands, and working summer jobs for little money, she didn’t earn much, but at least it wasn’t nothing, the living expenses weren’t exaggerated, after all she was living with a kind big brother like man, who refused to get any money for what he was doing , claiming that kids shouldn’t worry about that, rather than that, he half-forced Yuder to re-enter school,  so that she could be successful later on.

Kanna didn’t stay much longer, she managed to get her hands on some cash to keep quiet about the legal issues of her situation, renting herself a room in a cheap hotel, sharing it with a roommate, she smiled as she waved goodbye towards Yuder.

Months passed, and so did the years, before Yuder could blink 3 years had gone by. Kanna had acquired an old smartphone thanks to one of her roommates a while ago, and Yuder had a call only phone given to her by her older brother, Enon, who still hosted her in his small shop, refusing to get any money for it.

Her 18th birthday celebration wasn’t grand; it was a small dinner with his own small family, and she enjoyed every bit of it, especially the part in which she was now legally an adult, thus could work full time, not having to worry about school and such.

It didn’t take long for a trained, young woman to find herself a job at a local gym as personal trainer, Yuder had been training whenever she could, working out was relieving, and the monthly subscription was cheap, so for the past couple of years she had been a regular at that gym, and when she asked if they were hiring she immediately got accepted.

Working as a personal trainer wasn’t hard, rather, Yuder found it stress relieving for the most part, he could work out and even gain money for it, what a win.

Sure, sometimes there were arrogant men that came in and insulted her every so often, but when they checked which of them was stronger, the one who walked out ashamed was always them. Yuder thought if she should place bets on herself instead, if people underrated her why not use it to her advantage?

Time flew by, and soon, she was 19 years old, then 20 years old.

That day she didn’t have many plans, she would go out, work as usual and then hang out with Kanna, which needed some advice for a sketchy situation she has gotten herself into.

It was a cloudy morning, Yuder waved at Enon as she left for work, and Enon waved back, popping a lemon candy in his mouth, waiting for clients to arrive.

In the afternoon, after work, Yuder drank a coffee sitting across from Kanna, a steady conversation flowing with the cold winter wind.

“Yuder, thank you for meeting me.” Kanna smiled. “I really needed this, I might think about starting a career, I’ll listen to your advice, maybe you should also focus on getting more then the bare minimum, if the opportunity arises.”

Kanna paid for both coffees, then stood up steadily, approaching Yuder to give her a light hug.

“Good luck, let’s meet again sometimes”

Yuder nodded. “Yes.”

The day was proceeding as normal, or well, until Yuder heard soft noises from a dark alley.

Silently approaching and peeking to see the situation, a frown appeared on her face, complexion darkening.

A woman, around her age, was surrounded by 4 men, clearly uncomfortable, with every breath, every blink, the men were closer, ignoring every request from the woman to leave, by the time Yuder stepped up and ran towards her, a hand had been resting on her hip.

“Leave her. Now.” Yuder’s rough but clear voice resounded in the dark tight hallway, illuminated by nothing but a sketchy shop’s entrance.

The men looked at the relatively skinny woman, holding back laughter.

“Hah? And why would I listen to you? Little girl?”

“Mhm? Do you want to join the fun?”

“Trying to play saviour, darling?”

The woman was crying, her dark eyes clouded by an intense fear, a silent unheard plea locked away in her heart.

At the sight, Yuder’s heart recoiled, how could she leave? Yuder was about to give them a second chance to leave unscathed, but honestly? Who cares. She was going to destroy them.

A strong knock echoed, then another one, and another- the first man was down, he was still screaming, blood coming out of his nostrils.

“A-ah? Y-You’re not done! I-I’m killing you!” The trembling companions nodded cautiously, what was a woman going to do anyway? That was luck! Yes! Luck! Nothing else!

Three men jumped up at once, fists held high, Yuder smirked.

“Get out of the way, be careful.” She ordered the woman, who soon turned and ran to call for backup, but Yuder didn’t need backup anyway.

Yuder swiftly dodged the first fist, she held the second within her own to successfully turn over the man, kicking him to the ground, cracking his nose as her leg kicked from all the way up to the ground. Two down, two more left.

Yuder chuckled as she waited for the next attack. “What? Scared? Weren’t you just saying that I’m no more than a woman?”

“I-I-”

Before the man could finish his sentence, a fist reached below his jaw, cracking a bone he didn’t know he had.

“Ah!  Stop!”

Yuder took the opportunity to drag him to the ground, jump on him and swarm him with punches, soon, his face was covered in blood and tears, that’s when she stood up, ready to take on the last man, bloodied fist momentarily resting.

Yuder skillfully punched the most sensitive spots, the area right above the stomach, the jaw, the face, and topped it all off with a  kick to the nuts, which quite literally crashed the man’s system, It didn’t take long for him to fall along his companions, steps echoed behind her-

Yuder was taken off guard. had she been too distracted with this one, did they have backup? She turned and kicked high up-

Gentle eyes gazed down then up at the bloodied woman that was supposed to be in danger, the unknown lady smiled, arm held high, still blocking Yuder’s kick.

“Mh, when I heard that a woman was fighting off multiple men and was in danger I rushed here with my adjutant, hoping to bring comfort and backup, I didn’t quite expect for the woman to crush them all.”

Yuder’s eyes squinted, backing off her leg she raised her bloodied fists.

“…”

“Hah! Dear I’m not interested in fighting; I merely wanted to help you, but it seems like you don’t need any help.”

“Who are you?”

“Not a woman of many words, are you? That’s okay too, I own a clothing brand, I’m the CEO of a fashion company, I’d be more than willing to hire you as a bodyguard, I’d pay you lots and provide with room and board.”

Yuder’s fits lowered cautiously, she took a second of her time to glance at the woman.

The lady was at least 24 or 25 years old, a little taller than Yuder, had blonde, long, beautiful silky hair, her garments were adorned by many accessories, all emphasising the colours of the combination, she was wearing heels, and didn’t seem to be particularly strong, but judging by the kick she was able to block she was stronger than she looked for sure. Her features were the perfect combination of soft and hard, she had intriguing eyes, despite being brown they offered a reddish look from close up, Yuder subconsciously wanted to lean in to see better-

“So?” A head tilted to the side, dark eyes softening.

“What’s your name?” Void-like eyes squinted in response.

“I’ve been taught that it’s disrespectful to ask one’s time before speaking their own.” Kishiar smiled, blinking slowly, calmly.

“…Yuder.”

“Great! It’s nice to meet you, Yuder. My name is Kishiar la Orr, CEO of the Orr Fashion Company” the woman smiled as she reached in her pocket, handing out a ticket. “Here is my contact information, If you want to work with me, don’t hesitate to call, dear.”

“…” Yuder reluctantly took the piece of paper and put it into one of his pockets, planning to throw out the gorgeous woman’s info as soon as she left.

A soft smile appeared on the woman’s lips. “I’ll be expecting your call.”

The woman turned her back to Yuder and disappeared in the dark  hallways, Yuder frowned and turned the other way to go home.

Kishiar: she won’t do anything, don’t worry.

Nath: did…did you hire someone? How do you know?

Kishiar: nah I just feel like she’s a good person.

Nath: and… you gave her everything because of your intuition?

Kishiar: yes! ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:* ☆

2.

Nath: why would you even do that, you never wanted to hire bodyguards.

Kishiar: ah? I was just looking for an excuse.

Nath: why did you try to hire her then?

Kishiar: did you see those eyes, and that hair? She looks absolutely beautiful, something about her tells me that I should hire her.

Nath: did you… just hire her because of her looks?

Kishiar: how could I ever do that (⌒▽⌒)

Alright so, this part is just going to be me explaining some stuff about this story, you can skip it if you want.

For starters I decided to write this because I thought that it would be a fun AU to write, this should have around 20 chapters, as I planned it for now, but it could be more and could be less, depends on how much I stick to the original plan.

I know that this first chapter was somewhat boring, but I felt like it would be necessary to set the story and understand where Yuder comes from before going actually starting to write the main story, so you can treat this as a prologue? Is that how it’s called? Either way, it will get more interesting so please keep reading ( ・∇・)”

Now, writing Yuder and Kishiar’s character is going to be hard, mainly Yuder, parts of Yuder’s personality in the novel could be like this due to the previous timeline, so how would he have been in a modern AU without powers and timelines? It sounds hard, but I’ll try my best.

I wanted to specifically write a WLW Modern AU as huh, I’m a raging lesbian and I love this ship so why not? Originally, I wanted it to be a canon divergence, but other than discrimination the story wouldn’t have changed much at all, so I went for a modern AU.

As a side note… only Yuder, Kishiar and Nathan’s genders will switch, the others are all the same, only Nathan changes his name to Nathalie (Nath for short), the rest of em keep their names. I originally wanted to only switch Kishiar and Yuder but since Kishiar would be a strong fem baddy I thought, why the hell not put some more feminism in the fic? That’s how Nathan because a woman. (Also… I need someone to tell me how Kishiar met Nathan and both their backstories… I can’t find anything, and I can’t remember)

lastly, I’ll try my very best to finish this, but if I don’t get any support it is very likely that I will lose motivation, so please show your appreciation! <3

I’ll write more about this AU after finishing the story and reply to questions in the comments if anyone has them, but for now I’ll just say this ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆

By the way, Yuder helped Kanna because she was seeking for someone to talk with and understand more about the city, and by talking with her she could kill two birds with one stone, try to help a crying girl and understanding more.

Chapter 2: Call

Enon is a good bro and will half-force Yuder to make that call (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

Chapter Text

As soon as Yuder stepped inside the pharmacy, a certain someone was already rushing through the few rooms to get to the entrance, frowning when he noticed the blood on Yuder.

“It’s noth-” Yuder attempted to speak, but it was to no avail.

“What happened!? I swear if you went around looking for trouble again-” A loud voice interrupted her own, approaching her quickly.

“Some men were harassing a woman; I had to stop them.”

Enon sighed, lowering his eyes to examine Yuder properly, soon finding bruised knuckles, but luckily nothing else.

“I’m glad you helped, but you should be more careful, at least let me wrap up your hands.” Despite Yuder being injured, Enon struggled to scold her like he usually would, he frowned.

Yuder’s expression darkened slightly. “There’s no need, it doesn’t even-”

“Yes it does!” Enon’s voice filled the room, almost breaking Yuder’s ears, she sighed as she nodded, wanting to avoid the never-ending monologue that had yet to come.

“…fine, alright” a quiet, reluctant voice sounded, and Enon didn’t wait to act on his intentions.

The pharmacist soon pulled a first aid kit from below the desk and picked up bandages, disinfectant, and a few other helpful items from the small box, leaving it open on the desk for the time being, then, he got to work.

“Is the woman alright? What happened? Tell me all of it.”

Yuder blinked as her knuckles were getting disinfected, registering the questions in her mind.

“Yes, she is fine, I stopped it before they could get physical.”

Enon felt relieved. “That’s good”

“I was walking home and heard a soft voice coming from a dark alleyway, that’s when I saw the woman”

Enon frowned at the usually short answer Yuder gave. “There must be more, come on.”

Yuder lowered her eyes. “I guess there was…” Yuder sighed, giving up. “There was a woman that I encountered as soon as I finished the men off… but she wasn’t anyone important anyway.”

Enon squinted, looking at Yuder’s distracted eyes. “Yuder.”

Dark eyes rose to look at him directly. “What happened, did you get hurt?”

Yuder frowned at the question. “No, she just gave me her information, saying something about a job offer.”

Enon sighed, his heart relaxing. “What offer?”

“She asked me to be her bodyguard”

“Anything else?”

“Yes, she said that I would be provided with room and board, and that I’d get paid well.”

Enon tilted his head. “Why don’t you accept then? You’ve been looking for a well-paying job for years, they said they would provide you with a room too, that would be perfect”

Yuder looked away for a second.

“Hah? Don’t tell me you don’t want to leave the pharmacy, if that’s the reason I’m kicking you out myself.”

Yuder shook her head. “That’s not it, the woman just looked-”

-way too beautiful to be real, looks like a trap. Yuder interrupted her own sentence, her eyebrows lightly meeting each other.

“Looked what? At least finish your sentence!” Enon spoke loudly, despite being right in front of Yuder.

“She looked too…beautiful, it seemed like a trap”

Enon first stared blankly at Yuder for a second, then he started chuckling.

“….”

“Hah? Too beautiful? And why would someone trap you anyway? She gave you a card, didn’t she? Give it to me.”

Yuder silently reached in her pocket to fish out the paper she half wished had disappeared.

“…here.”

Enon carefully examined it, and his eyes soon lit up, understanding.

“I know who that is, the Orr Fashion Company is known all over the country.” He silently raised his eyebrow, speaking quietly. “Why would she offer you a job as a bodyguard? She’s known for not having had a bodyguard before, despite the many attempts…”

“….”

Enon looked up at Yuder, who now sat across from him, knuckles successfully bandaged resting on her knees.

“You should accept the offer, working there will give you many opportunities, and I want my room back.”

Yuder sighed. “I’ll call, but not today.”

Enon nodded quietly. “As long as you get out of my bedroom then sure, just don’t take forever to call or they might change their mind; don’t worry too much, I’m sure that it’s not a trap, trust your big brother.”

“Okay.”

━─━────༺༻────━─━

A few days had gone by, and despite her best wishes, Yuder had to call if she wanted to get the job, the high pay would be more than perfect for her, and getting a room at that… it just seemed too good to be true, but if Enon said it was safe, then it must be so, she finally accepted her fate, deciding to call that afternoon after work.

The work hours went by fast, Yuder had already talked with the manager the day before to tell them that she will likely quit soon, therefore could leave directly after the shift, going straight home.

“Yuder, you’re home” a familiar voice called as she walked through the doorstep.

“Yes, I think I’ll make that call soon.” Yuder nodded, leaving her backpack in front of her room’s door.

“Soon? Let’s do it now. I’ll be right next to you- hold on, I’ll give you my phone.”

“Alright.”

Enon retrieved the paper and typed the number, double checking the order, then, he called and passed the phone over to Yuder.

“Hello, this is the Orr Fashion Company’s, how may I help you?”

Yuder stared blankly ahead as she pondered on what words to use, that’s when Enon chimed in, writing on a nearby piece of paper words Yuder wouldn’t have found easily.

“…Hello, my name is Yuder Aile, I’ve been given this number by who I believe is the CEO of the company, would it be possible to talk with her?”

“Oh, I apologise, but calls with the director may only be made under- wait, what was your name again?”

“…Yuder Aile”

“Oh! You’re on the checklist for available calls, I’ll contact the CEO, if you’d be willing to wait on hold for a minute.”

“Yes, thank you” yuder lowered his head as he listened to the trendy music, waiting for the call to be picked up by the woman he had seen.

“Hello? Is this Yuder?”

“…Yes”

“This is Kishiar! I’m so glad you called, so? Are we going on a date or are you accepting the job offer?”

“…”

“Well, I didn’t mean to rush you, but we could always-”

“The job offer.”

A chuckle went unheard by the other side of the phone.

“Is that so? I have no doubts that you will pass the job interview, after all, I’m the one who will be in front of you”

“…right.”

“I can’t wait to see y- I mean, to see what you have to offer” Yuder nodded reluctantly over the phone as she heard the words, this woman sounded complicated to deal with.

“Yes, when should I come for the interview?”

“Of course. You can come this week during working hours; I’ll be able to take you anywhere from 2 p.m to 6 p.m this week, I’d be glad to see you tomorrow if you’re willing”

Yuder nodded over the phone. “Yes, I’ll come tomorrow.”

“Perfect! I’ll make sure to be available for you, have a good evening, and thank you for calling.”

“Yes, good evening.”

Yuder lowered the phone from her face hearing the woman on the other side hanging up and sighed quietly.

In front of her, her brother was smirking. “So, does that mean I finally get my room back?”

“Probably.”

His expression became a little softer. “Yuder, either way you know this pharmacy will always be open for you.”

An imperceptible smile appeared on Yuder’s face. “Yes, brother. Thank you.”

“Of course, and you’d better call and come pay a visit sometimes, alright?”

Yuder nodded, giving back the phone to Enon.

“Yes, I will”

‘Good thing I got the gym’s pay-check early.’

Chapter Text

When Yuder woke up the next morning Enon had already prepared a nice and fulfilling breakfast, which included some homemade cookies and bought sweets. Yuder softly smiled as she sat across from her big brother, who bore a slight bitter smile.

“You still have your phone. Call me, and don’t forget to save my number if you get a new phone… if you ever do that. Whatever, just call your big brother all right?”

Yuder nodded, her head slightly tilting as she watched Enon not making a move towards the food. “Aren’t you going to eat?”

“Nah, don’t worry, I got myself a nice lemon pie, I prepared this for you so eat up! I know that your interview isn’t until the afternoon so you can rest until then, I’ll prepare lunch.”

“I can help you in the pharmacy.”

“I don’t have many clients anyway; I got it all under control. but if you want to, I won’t stop you”

The morning went by smoothly, Yuder did not want to rest, therefore went with helping her big brother instead, who, despite saying that he had it all under control, did not exactly have enough hands to take care of multiple clients at once.

“Your interview is in an hour; you should leave now so you can be on time” Enon spoke a little after finishing lunch, which he had partly prepared himself, as he would rarely do.

“Yes, I should wear practical clothing in case they want me to show off my abilities”

“Right, this is a bodyguard interview after all, but I’m sure you’ll pass, don’t worry. Just remember to bring all the documents.”

°.✩┈┈∘*┈˃̶୨୧˂̶┈*∘┈┈✩.°

A building’s doorbell rang, a tall woman opened the door.

“Ah, you must be Yuder Aile.”

Yuder blinked and quickly observed the woman in front of her. She was taller than her, had a darker skin tone and dark hair; she was wearing some office proper pants and a fairly fancy shirt. Yuder nodded, glancing at the badge she carried on her chest for a moment, ‘Nathalie’ written on it, that must be Kishiar’s adjutant, the one she had met back then.

“Yes, that would be me”

“I am Lady Orr’s adjutant. Follow me, I’ll guide you towards her office.” Nathalie’s voice sounded slightly deep but clear at the same time, giving her a serious but soft vibe.

“Thank you.”

Walking through the hallways Yuder couldn’t help but notice the many paintings adorning the walls, most were dress and suit designs, carefully put together by a steady and graceful hand, Yuder secretly wondered if there were Kishiar’s doing.

Other canvases bore graphite portraits, Yuder didn’t recognise any of the portraits except for an exceptionally made one, which portrayed Kishiar, the woman she was about to meet… Yuder distracted her eyes silently, looking the other way, where almost equally beautifully organised paintings rested on the walls.

The CEO’s office was near, closer than Yuder expected, or at least that’s what it felt like to her, as she walked admiring the variety of art in the halls.

Before Yuder knew it, she was in front of a bigger-than average door, a wooden sign hanged on the door.

‘This must be the woman’s door…’Lady Orr’s office’… why is there a smiley face on the door?’

Yuder frowned slightly, if she were a CEO, she would most definitely not put smiley faces on the door… forget the CEO possibility, even if she were a normal employee she wouldn’t.

A clear yet deep voice interrupted her thoughts.

“Here we are” Nathalie held out her fist and knocked on the door three times. Soon, a voice from inside reached both women’s ears, and they made their ways inside the office.

Yuder silently found the interview slightly unusual; sitting across from each other wouldn’t be unusual in itself… but there were multiple snacks and two cups of tea laying on the table… as if it were meant for a conversation rather than an interview.

“Yuder, I’m glad that you were able to come so soon, I was waiting for you.” Kishiar smiled brightly, and Yuder found herself getting lost in that smile for a second.

Shaking her head, the younger woman spoke “…right”

A faint chuckle reached her ears, the woman continued.

“As you know, this is an interview for the bodyguard position, which I have no doubts you’ll get, but for the appearance’s sake, this is still a process that will be done.” Kishiar blinked before breathing in and continuing her speech. “First, we’ll need to confirm your identity and curriculum, then, you can show us what you can do.”

Kishiar rested her head on her fist for a moment, laying her elbow on the couch’s armrest. “Shall we start?”

Yuder nodded seriously, taking out of her bag the required documents.

Kishiar’s eyes attentively read every detail on the papers, including the curriculum.

“Mhm” Kishiar nodded softly, then, looked up from the papers, gazing straight into Yuder’s eyes. “Yuder, why do you want to work here?”

“…” why did she want to work here? “…You offered me to”

The woman started laughing loudly, surprising Yuder. “Hah… you really do talk exactly how I would expect you to, well, that’s fair, I’ll take that for an answer”

“…” was what Yuder said wrong? She should have asked Enon for advice…

A few other questions were asked, and short answers were given, more often than not, the older woman would start laughing at Yuder’s answers, and when she didn’t, she struggled to do so.

“Mhm, that checks out. You’re already eligible to be employed, but I’d like to see what you can do first, if that’s alright with you. You’ve already proven it to me though, so I won’t force you.” Kishiar smiled again, silently observing Yuder for any subtle reactions.

Yuder’s head turned to the left then to the right, no matter where she looked, this was an office, she couldn’t show everything here…

Noticing this, Kishiar stood up, offering a hand to Yuder, which she stared at with slight confusion. “You won’t be training here, of course. We have a stage on the last floor, that will be perfect.”

Yuder nodded silently. Then, she stood up; ready to follow the taller woman.

“It seems that you were already prepared and dressed accordingly, I’ll sit here, if you don’t mind me.” Kishiar smiled, sitting down on the stage’s runway. “Now, the stage is all for you, show me what you can do”

Yuder didn’t wait more than a second, soon, she was giving high kicks and turning in the air, constantly punching and lowering her head or body accordingly.

Despite fighting the air, something in her looked extremely graceful, it could have been the precise movements, deeply calculated for the maximum efficiency; or the worked strength, carefully built up until every movement could flow within each and every single other one, but whatever it was, it was captured by Kishiar, deeply engraved in her mind.

As the one-sided fight continued, Kishiar found herself lost in those movements, subconsciously thinking of the perfect design: a suit… perhaps tighter around the thighs and looser below… maybe even a slit covered by different fabric, violet would fit perfectly…

Lightly gasping for air, Yuder walked up to Kishiar, interrupting her train of thoughts. then, sat down on the runway, waiting for her breath to steady to talk.

A bright smile appeared on the older woman’s face, and a glint of light appeared on the younger’s eyes, which didn’t go unnoticed by the former.

“That was amazing, Yuder, you looked graceful, as if you were dancing to an upbeat song, I’ve never seen anyone move so smoothly before.”

Yuder softly parted her lips, then closed them again, unsure of what to say, Kishiar’s eyes squinted before opening again.

“Yuder, you passed the interview, I’d be glad to hire you, shall we look over the contract together?”

“Mhm, sure”

“We don’t have to go back to the office; I brought a copy here so we can talk about it.” Kishiar held out her hand. “Here, check it out”

The contract was objectively perfect: both room and board were provided, the ‘room’ being a small apartment in a nearby employees' complex, as for the board, it would be inside of a cafeteria inside the complex, Yuder didn’t mind whatever the food was anyway, so she skipped the details.

Yuder read the next clause; the pay was higher than most jobs, and, being paid full time, Yuder could even help out Enon with expenses, she nodded to herself.

Finally, in case of an injury, everything would be covered by the agency. Objectively, it was a perfect work contract, which could also be interrupted easily, only officially employing Yuder for six months, before it would need to be renovated.

“There’s no need to change anything, I’m fine with this.”

The corners of Kishiar’s lips lifted softly. “That’s perfect, you just need to sign on the left then, I’ll sign after you, oh, here’s a pen.”

“Thank you.” Yuder took the pen handed by Kishiar, signing the contract; soon, the older woman did the same, silently smiling, wondering if she would have success in charming the beauty.

1.     During the interview

Kishiar: were do you see yourself in 5 years?

Yuder: …the same way I see myself now, maybe slightly taller or with more defined features.

Kishiar, checking yes on the paper she’s holding: …right

2.     During the interview, part 2

Kishiar: what are your strengths and weaknesses?

Yuder: I have more strength in my lower body than my upper body, although I’m confident I could at least stop most people with punches…as for the weaknesses, the face, jaw, stomach and head are the most fragile part of the human body when fighting.

Kishiar, checking yes again: proof? ☆

3.     During the interview, part 3

Kishiar: tell me about yourself.

Yuder: my name is Yuder Aile and I’m 20 years old.

Kishiar: what’s your favourite food? Favourite restaurant? Favourite colour? What do you like to wear usually?

Yuder: …those don’t sound like a job interview’s questions…

  4.

Yuder, gasping: how was it?

Kishiar: gorgeous, can I take your measurements?

Yuder: …?

★彡KISHIAR’S POV★彡

A few hours later, Kishiar’s phone rang.

“Kishiar, can you hear me?”

“Ah! Brother, how nice. I can, how are you?”

“Mhm. I’m good, although I did catch a cold. Regardless, remember that you have to go to the new year’s fashion festival.”

“…Don’t worry, I signed it up on my calendar.” Kishiar smiled.

“…sure…” Keilusa’s voice grew slightly more serious. “What’s up with you getting a bodyguard anyway?”

Kishiar’s lips turned slightly upward, softening his features as he spoke. “It was a spontaneous decision; I had the honour of watching a woman beat four men live, I don’t think I’ve ever felt better.”

“…”

“My eyes are blessed every time I gaze upon her… she has black eyes and beautiful, slightly masculine features, I’ll be bringing her to the festival, so don’t worry”

“…right… you for sure like this girl” a quiet sigh didn’t go unheard by Kishiar, her own voice softening.

“You’re lucky we’re over the phone; I have much more to say” Kishiar playfully retorted.

“I don’t want to hear it… what did you plan for new years?”

“I’ve designed multiple dresses and accessories; I’ve already started designing Yuder’s uniform…”

“That’s your bodyguard’s name, yes. I’m sure I’ll be hearing that name much more with each and every call” a quiet voice sounded.

“Mhm, I’ll get back to it if you don’t mind me.”

“Sure, I’m glad you didn’t get a bodyguard because you thought you were unsafe…”

Kishiar’s voice softened. “Mh? I hired her for my personal safety of course”

“…just hang up”

“Good evening, dear brother.”

Kishiar lowered her phone from her face, turning her gaze towards her desk, on which many documents were waiting to be signed, but well, that could wait, Yuder was more important.

A few hours later, Kishiar was smiling as she drew multiple different suits, the documents laying untouched by any ink.

»>»>»>»↠ ≈☆≈ ↞«<«<«<«

The next morning, everything was leading towards the best day, starting from the stunning woman Kishiar found herself in front of.

“Good morning, Yuder” Kishiar’s voice was intentionally soft, looking straight into Yuder’s eyes.

“Orr… Lady? Good morning” the younger woman’s voice was serious, as usual, something Kishiar would try her best to change soon.

“Ah, you can call me by my first name, I don’t consider anything of my CEO status” Kishiar smiled softly distracting her eyes to stare at her door’s sign. “I’ve told my employees, but they insisted on calling me lady. Rather old fashioned, isn’t it? Although I don’t mind.”

“It’s more appropriate to call you lady then.” Kishiar didn’t expect to be on first name basis right away, but that’s okay, she had time, the hardest wins bring the most satisfaction after all, don’t they?

“Sure, that will be great.”

Yuder’s eyes dropped slightly, glancing around the office, likely thinking about the job’s details.

“Officially you’re a bodyguard, but you’ll help me out around the office as well, as written on the reference sheet I’ve given you yesterday, you’ll be acting as my bodyguard for the new years fashion festival.”

Yuder nodded seriously in response. “Understood. What can I help you with?”

Kishiar didn’t really need help, but she didn’t want to send the angel away, thus she thought of assigning the young woman a few simple tasks for the next couple hours, Kishiar would need to check on the manual side of the company soon, and Yuder could come along and help out the employees later…

“…?” Yuder’s head slightly tilted

Kishiar resisted the urge to run her hand through the younger woman’s hair, she then replied, smiling softly.

“Mhm, I just need help with classifying these files for now, we will go together to the tailors’ side later, I have a few designs to give.”

“Understood.”

Despite Kishiar’s best wishes, sitting around to talk with the beauty wasn’t possible, thus, she settled for working in the same office for the moment, hoping that one day she could win her over.

A few hours later, in the afternoon, two women in their twenties reached the third floor, the lay out was perfect, on one side, a red, long carpet forming a runway, multiple mirrors in front of it.

On the opposite side, multiple sewing machines lay on the tables, fabric draped over the worktables, behind them, a closet displaying several types of fabric could be seen, allowing the tailors for an efficient performance.

It didn’t take long for Kishiar to give her newest design to the lady, who smiled knowingly glancing over Yuder a few times while looking at the design.

“That will fit her perfectly, I’m sure”

Kishiar smiled in response, writing a few notes on the back of the designs, and after giving her advice, she walked towards Yuder.

“Yuder, we’re done for the day, today was slow; if you want you could help around here, I’m sure that Marie would appreciate it.”

Yuder looked up, silently gazing at the older seamstress for a moment.

“Yes, how can I help her?”

“Well, I’m not sure, ask her, I’ll head back to the office.” Kishiar smiled. Despite not wanting to leave Yuder, Kishiar didn’t want her to think she had any negative second motives for hiring her, thus, she made the wise decision to leave her alone with a wiser grandma for a while.

»。 ∾ ღ ➵ ♢ ➵ ღ ∾ 。»

The morning with Yuder went by fast, but the same couldn’t be said about the afternoon…either way, the day finished soon enough, leading Kishiar to fall asleep on her bed, wishing for the next day to come sooner.

The second day with Yuder wasn’t much different then the first, and so would have been the third, if Kishiar hadn’t received a reminder from her adjutant, calling to make sure her and Yuder were ready for the festival.

And so, Kishiar reached the company’s building, going straight to Maria’s workplace on the third floor.

“I thought you’d never come, quick, take your bodyguard’s uniform and get ready.” The older woman offered a gentle smile, holding the already packed uniform.

“Thank you so much” Kishiar smiled in return, her voice softening.

“You’re welcome, now go and have fun.”

“I will.”

Chapter Text

“Yuder” Kishiar called, handing over the garments as soon as the woman turned around.

“What is this?” Yuder opened the box with slight confusion.

Kishiar smirked, and Yuder would never admit it, but for a moment she lost herself that bright smile, unable to think of anything else, a soft voice erupted in her empty mind.

“It’s your new uniform; I designed it myself… it should fit you perfectly”

“Should I try it on?”

“Yes, I’ll leave you to get changed, we’re leaving in an hour, as my bodyguard I’ve made sure that you are allowed to bring weapons, so you can bring as many as you want”

“Do not worry, I always carry a knife or two with me anyway, that will suffice” why would Yuder go around unarmed? Especially as a bodyguard…

“My bodyguard sure is perfectly prepared, what did I do to deserve this…mhm?”

“….” Kishiar started laughing. Hard.

“Can’t get a hint? It’s okay, I’ll let you get changed. meet me outside in an hour, Nath will be driving us.”

“…understood.” the older lady left and Yuder found herself staring at the ground for a minute, what was she even talking about… a hint? What hint?

Yuder opened the box handed to her by Kishiar, and to her surprise, the suit looked elegant, beautiful but all the same practical as her usual outfits, the prominent colour was black, allowing her to blend in with the darkness if the need ever arose; putting it on, Yuder thought that Kishiar must be quite skilled, the design concealed many hidden pockets, including some for weapons and such.

Soon, everything was ready, and Yuder did not waste any time to reach Kishiar to go the festival, Yuder was ready to act as the bodyguard she was hired to be, she was going to be careful and protect the lady.

“Yuder, you’re here.” Kishiar waved from the backseat of a fancy black car, the front of it shining under the early night sky, but Yuder doubted it would ever shine as bright as that smile…

“Yes… why didn’t you go to the front seat?” Yuder was almost sure that the custom was for the client to be in front… was it?

“Ah, I wanted to stay close to my dear bodyguard, isn’t that right? How am I going to get protected otherwise.”

‘Is she in danger?’ Yuder’s eyes squinted as she sat inside the car, constantly watching over Kishiar as the car wheels started running.

“…Yuder…” Yuder’s head snapped the other way, directly looking out of the window for anything dangerous.

A faint smile appeared on Kishiar’s face, her hand resting on Yuder’s shoulder. “No need to be so on edge… these windows are darkened and bullet proof…”

Yuder stared straight into Kishiar’s eyes, unintentionally losing herself in them… again… forgetting to respond to the question.

Taking advantage of the situation, Kishiar started smiling, staring at Yuder’s deep black even more intently than before.

“…” still not moving, Yuder’s chest rose and fell steadily, completely focused on recognising each and every colour shade hidden behind those eyes; Kishiar couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight, watching as Yuder’s pale complexion reddened ever so slightly as she realised.

“….”

“Embarrassed, are you? You look so good in the outfit I designed”

“…yes…?” Yuder’s head tilted, and once again Kishiar had to suppress the need to run her hand through that dark black hair, resting her palm on the warm cheek…

“Mhm, you look gorgeous…I want to-“ Kishiar’s hand tightened as she barely interrupted her sentence.

That’s when Nathalie came in, trying to break the tight atmosphere. “We’re almost there, the models should be close as well, we’ll be performing in an hour at the stage, we have time to look around until then.”

“Ah…Nath. Thank you”

“…alright” two voices sounded at the same time, one stripped of its usual seriousness, and the other of its confidence.

“Let’s go, I’ll prepare the stage, you can look around the festival vendor tents.” Nathalie spoke, hoping to get rid of the two women, usually she would stay close, but seeing Yuder’s performance she was sure that Kishiar would be safe.

“Yuder, let’s go!” Kishiar smirked as she ran out, holding Yuder’s hand.

“Ah, Lady- “Yuder started, but her sentence was cut off by the wind, running so fast she felt… free.

From afar, a few voices reached Yuder’s ears.

“No way! Lady Orr is here-”

“Look, lady Orr is basically carrying her bodyguard around!”

“Hear me out on the bodyguard, she looks so hot”

“A shag mullet cut would look fire on her”

‘…what does hear me out mean… why are they talking about me?’

“Oh my, is my date sulking? that’s not a good sign, how about some caramel covered fruits to make up for it?” Kishiar’s soft voice interrupted the many other voices, once again catching all her focus.

“…ah” eyes slightly wide, Yuder parted her lips, but not much of what she wanted to say came out right.

Still, the older woman laughed heartily, leading the younger towards the stand.

“Ah! There’s no n-” but alas, it was too late.

Kishiar held out the sweetened fruits on a couple of sticks, and smiled brightly, knowing that it was Yuder’s weakness.

“…alright” in response Kishiar smiled even more brightly than before, shining under the night sky more than any star.

The snack was…fine. The sugar melted on her tongue, leaving behind a lingering sweet taste.

Unbeknownst to Yuder, her eyes betrayed her expression, revealing a glint of light to Kishiar, who softly smiled, incapable of distracting his gaze from that beautiful expression.

Suddenly, both heads snapped the other way as an announcement rang out. “Attention, guests. The fashion show is going to start in twenty minutes, I repeat…”

“…”

“It’s a shame that we have to go so early, I wish I could stay here a little more” Kishiar looked like a kicked puppy to Yuder.

“It’s fine, we can go on the way back if you really wish to.” Kishiar nodded, and Yuder allowed herself to hold her hand and guide her towards the show.

“Ah yes you’re-“

“Wait!” Yuder shouted, Kishiar’s eyes widened as she stepped back, the voice reminded her of their first meeting, did something happen?

“What are you so stressed out for darling? We are just guests, aren’t we?” A dude that looked like he might be the leader approached slowly, confidently talking to his other members.

‘Too many people… I can’t take on that many’ Yuder’s eyes squinted, a frown appeared on her face, she started whispering.

“Lady, I need you to get out to a more peaceful area.”

“I’m not leaving you alone.” Kishiar frowned, two people against a group of 6 likely trained adults… could they even do it? Kishiar silently called Nathalie, texting her the emergency code they had agreed upon.

Suddenly, the leader’s voice rang out again, louder. “What are you so scared of puppies? We are unarmed, are we not?”

“Liar!” Yuder’s voice echoed in the dark street. “You have one in your boot and another one in your jacket!”

“We’ve got a woman with keen eyes here huh? Guess I’m not going to lose much time.”

“Lady Orr! You need to leave!”

“I can defend myself!” Kishiar shouted, she wasn’t going to leave Yuder alone.

“Don’t we have quite the beauty here? Why don’t you come and show me exactly where they are?” Five men and one woman slowly walked towards the two, and Yuder took on a defensive stance, ready to go all out.

“…why…K…?” Kishiar words were cut off by the wind as Yuder ran towards the enemy, she’d better get the first strike, as long as Kishiar was okay then everything would be alright.

A high kick- straight to the head, he was prepared, a knife. Nothing Yuder wasn’t expecting, her first snapped up toward the wrist to knock down the danger.

‘One down.’ Her right hand faltered, reaching the knife she had hidden-

‘Where is it?’ Yuder’s eyes went wide, her mind clear of solutions as she realised that she was unarmed.

“Damn it.” For once, Yuder’s quiet voice failed to feign the usual confidence she carried with her, she couldn’t have been more useless, she can’t have Kishiar injured.

Kishiar’s eyes trembled at the sight, her body shuddering, running, she forgot everything she wanted to say.

“Yuder!” Her voice echoed in the dark street, and despite the loud noise, no one was there to hear it. To help.

Yuder’s head didn’t snap up, she couldn’t falter again. she couldn’t fail- her fist moved, allowing for an instant low kick, it was then, in that exact moment, that she noticed a smirk on the man’s face.

“Hah! Gotcha!” An amused, almost static voice resounded in Yuder’s ears, and a sharp pain echoed through her lower abdomen.

‘Damn it!’ Yuder shuddered, her teeth clenched together.

“Let's go, we don’t want to make someone mad, do we?” Bloody knife in hand, the leader laughed, he laughed. Yuder frowned, a knife wasn’t going to stop her, she’s had much worse, this was nothing.

Yuder ran, faster than Kishiar ever could, intentionally, or maybe not. It didn’t matter, in a second, she was behind him.

“What? You want the change?”

“Motherfucker.” Yuder’s enraged voice rang out, her arms waiting for the perfect moment; the teammates had left somewhere, only a couple of them were left.

“Aw, sweethe-“  a fist snapped up, hitting below the man’s jaw, then the stomach, then again, and again, again! Yuder didn’t stop, not until the man’s blood mixed with her own, the ground tasting both hers and his.

“You little-“

“Shut up!” Yuder whispered, her bloodied face devoid of any expression.

‘Yuder! ‘a distant voice was hardly heard by Yuder. Kishiar? No- she was safe, was she not?

Yuder’s head snapped back, allowing the man below her to land a punch, leading to her nose bleeding.

Yuder’s expression remained neutral, It wasn’t important. Kishiar was safe, the men had escaped, and Nathalie was with her lady, Nath had weapons, she could protect her.

Yuder didn’t wait, not one second. She stood and slowly walked towards the second man, his dark eyes trembling, just a second earlier he had been kicking, hoping to get her off his mate, but now, his eyes were clouded by fear.

Yuder didn’t waste time, she went for the head, at the same time, the man lowered his head and punched Yuder’s stomach-

‘Ugh!’ A frown appearing on her face, Yuder stood up, hardly holding on. A high kick, then a lower one, her leg throbbed, but the man didn’t expect it, he shuddered.

‘Again- another one’ a fist landed on his face, high up, the second man was on the ground, but the first took her off guard, attacking her neck with something sharp, Yuder frowned.

‘Damn it. I haven’t finished yet.’ In her mind, everything was chaotic, words and sentences uselessly flooded her mind.

Yuder dazedly looked behind her, her fist swiftly pulling and punching continuously, her head spiralling and her vision blurring, she didn’t have much time, but what she had she would use.

“Agh!” The aggressor screamed in agony as she landed another punch mercilessly, Yuder showed a faint smile, her vision gradually blurring more and more.

“Yuder! Stop!” Someone grabbed her from behind, if it were anyone else Yuder would have ran, she would have fought at once, but she recognised those gentle hands, she recognised that graceful yet worried voice; and that stunned her for just a moment, enough for the men to run.

Yuder wanted to break out of the strong arms that were dragging her away from the bloodied men, she wanted to fight, but her arms protested, her hands fought against her will, her vision spiralling; she managed to catch a glimpse of the last man running away. she let out a soft sigh.

“…let…go…” as the adrenaline started wearing off, body exhausted, her hands trembled as she tried to force open Kishiar’s grip.

“I’m not letting you go; Nath will bring over the car and we’ll drive you to the hospital”

Yuder struggled to get out of the embrace, but her arms were uncoordinated and lost most of their strength, her head dropped. Panting she managed to get out a few words.

“There is…no need. You…you have…stage, you…go…I’ll…handle…home…” Yuder’s voice sounded rough, hearing that, might be due to the voice, or the contents, but Kishiar frowned, her deep gaze darkening.

Kishiar settled on the floor, gently guiding Yuder, who devoid of any support hardly fell, if not for Kishiar gently easing her down.

“You are not going anywhere, rest here for a second, she will be here soon”

Yuder’s gaze fell to the floor, her head felt too heavy to support with her own neck, her vision was less blurry than before, but confusion still flooded her mind. Yuder waited for a moment, catching her breath, then parted her lips, her voice sounding foreign to her own body.

“I’m…fine… this is nothing… I’ll treat it…home-” Yuder’s expression darkened, she wanted to talk, but she forced her lips close; ‘I’ve had worse’ was the end of that sentence, but those words were left unspoken.

Kishiar frowned, her eyes losing their usual red glimpse of light. “Yuder you’re bleeding, I can’t leave you here”

Yuder’s head felt heavy, way too heavy to lift it to look at Kishiar in the eyes, looking at the ground, she forced her voice to come out. “Your…show…”

“My show means nothing to me if you’re going to bleed instead.” Yuder’s dizzy eyes momentarily lit up at the words.

“Lady Orr!” Nathan brought up her car as close as she could, but the road wasn’t close, not enough for Yuder to walk, according to Kishiar.

“Let’s go.” Kishiar stood up first, then lowered her arms and helped Yuder stand up, who weakly leaned against her chest; Kishiar frowned slightly, slipping a hand under the woman’s knees and another under her back to lift her.

Yuder weakly protested, her limbs refusing to do much more than tremble and lightly kick; Kishiar silently tightened the embrace.

“Yuder, when you heal up, I promise I’ll let you kick as much as you want, but for now, please, just let me carry you to the hospital.”

Yuder’s eyelids felt weighted, and opening them was rough, but seeing those eyes worryingly looking at her, her pain seemed to subside for a moment. She reluctantly stopped struggling, and intentionally or unintentionally melting in the embrace, Yuder’s head hit a soft clothed chest, and her heavy eyes finally closed.

Notes:

Sorry not sorry @king_triton

I actually had so much fun writing this because these type of scenarios allow me to write all poetic and stuff, I lowkey lowkey think I cooked (๑>◡<๑)

P.S Yuder is lowkey traumatised and I lowkey need to come up with a reason why… I already have some rough ideas but nothing final ٩( ᐛ )و

next chapter will be Kishiar’s pov (I think it will start off from when Yuder fainted but I’m not sure, if someone’s interested in Kishiar’s pov of the previous part I’ll write as an extra) and I’m not really sure why because of school and stuff, probably in 3 days but I can’t say for sure!

P.S the previous chapter was Kishiar’s POV by the way, I modified it to add that in the text since I had accidentally edited it out…

P.S the plot is thickening… if yall have theories I would GLADLY read them

Chapter 6: Hospital

KISHIAR’S POV

[TW BLOOD]

Entering the passenger’s side of the car Kishiar’s arms held Yuder tight, she knew that the injury wouldn’t be life threatening based on her medical knowledge, but she was still injured, and Yuder being so reluctant to accept treatment worried her immensely.

Nathalie stayed silent as she sped around every corner, trying to reach the hospital faster, urgent to heal the one laying limp in Kishiar’s arms.

“…Nath” Kishiar’s slightly rough voice unexpectedly sounded, Nath’s eyes widened slightly.

“…Yes, Lady?” Kishiar looked down, gazing upon the bloodied face of the younger woman in her arms.

“She…” Kishiar frowned. “She was injured by a group of people who came after us… five men and a woman… I have reasons to think this was planned…therefore not a coincidence.”

Kishiar was almost certain of it, the group was… too strange. Five men and one woman, perfect to set a trap, the woman would have been ‘attacked’ and then saved…

“I think their intention was to trap Yuder… but decided to attack her directly to avoid losing unnecessary time”

“Do you have any idea of who it could be?”  Nathalie inquired, she hadn’t seen as much as her lady.

“I…” Kishiar started, quietly wiping the blood off Yuder’s face. “I saw a letter peeking off one of their pockets… I couldn’t read the name on it, but it starts a K, I’m sure of it”

Nath’s eyes widened in response. “Do you think it could be…”

Kishiar frowned. “I think so, I’ll have to trouble you to do some research”

“Of course, did you notice anything else?”

Kishiar laid Yuder’s head on her shoulder, as comfortably as possible. “Yes… they were highly trained, whoever hired them should be fairly rich to be able to afford it… but they aren’t assassins. Their goals wasn’t to kill, it might have been to create gossip or rumours in our disadvantage…”

Nathalie nodded, she was going to find what she could as soon as possible. “Understood, we’re arriving in a minute”

Kishiar held Yuder close, hoping to convey at least some of the warmth she felt inside towards the younger’s sick body.

It didn’t take long for the three to arrive to the emergency department of the hospital, and Kishiar rushed out of the car, entrusting a Yuder to the nurses as soon as she could.

Soon a nurse approached them out of Yuder’s assigned room.

“What is your relationship with the patient?”

“Ah… I’m her boss”

“Alright, does she have any direct family?”

“Not related by blood… but she has an older brother.”

The nurse’s expression remained consistent, nodding silently: “all right, she is currently being treated, her injuries are not profoundly serious, but a kind of drug has been administered… it shouldn’t be life threatening, but we’ll run some tests to know more about it.”

Kishiar nodded seriously, the nurse continued.

“Her body really is exhausted… as her boss you should let her have at least one week of rest before she does anything.”

Kishiar nodded. She would make sure of it, even if it meant visiting Yuder’s apartment four times a day.

⊱ ──────ஓ๑♡๑ஓ ────── ⊰

“Agh”

Yuder frowned as she clutched her injured arm, looking for anyone that would be able to heal her; she had been cutting wood, alone, as usual, but this time something went wrong, and her axe broke, injuring her.

It wasn’t the first time Yuder had gotten injured, but this time it was bad. Her left arm had been slashed open by her broken axe, leaving her bleeding severely in the middle of the woods; Yuder was suspicious enough of the villagers already, but despite having no proof, she couldn’t help but attribute the damage to the axe to them.

“Oh my god! Are you hurt?”

A figure approached the young, injured girl, Yuder would have observed them, as she usually does, but their silhouette seemed as if drawn by a trembling hand, scratched lines met and tangled in each-other, forming a disturbing humanoid scribble in constant movement.

“…please” a quiet plead hardly escaped Yuder’s stiff lips, hand still clutching her bleeding arm.

“Ah! I have got…I’ve got bandages at home! You should, you should come” the figure moved closer, and messy lines gently laid upon Yuder’s shoulder; Yuder nodded, signing her fate.

Soon, they arrived. The house was clearly old, it’s state wasn’t the best, and being in the forest made it seem slightly eerie…still, Yuder wasn’t one to judge, and her arm throbbed painfully…thus, wincing, she followed the messy silhouette towards the door.

Click.

Yuder’s head snapped back. Door locked.

“…” her eyes went wide, conveying what her mind wished she could hide.

“Don’t mind me…” a nervous laugh followed the spat-out sentence. “I’m just doing a favour to a couple of friends of mine…”

‘She’s…nightmare…’  a soft, far away voice.

“They’re the villagers, aren’t they?”

“Ah, sweetheart, I’m not allowed to say that…” scratched lines engraved Yuder’s mind, becoming messier the more they approached.

‘Yuder!’ A firm voice.

Yuder backed away, but her back hit the locked door.

“Go away!” The young girl let go of her injured arm, threatening to fight, but her posture was slouched and her voice cracked.

“Sweetheart, you know you can’t fight like this-“ the figure’s voice was cut off by a steadier, softer one.

‘Yuder, wake up!’ a steady voice echoed throughout her shattered dream.

Her eyes went wide open, she recognised that voice, she reached for the handle, but it became nothing but sketchy lines on a white background- everything. She was stuck in a white cage.

“Yuder…wake up”

Finally, wet eyes opened, and her heavy breathing slowly steadied as she looked around.

“Where…” Yuder’s throat burned, words hardly forming.

“You’re at the hospital… the drug those men injected in you was a narcotic… it’s out of your system now” Kishiar’s hand reached out, then immediately retreated. “…you must have been scared, it’s alright now, I’ll get you some water.”

Yuder had never seen Kishiar wearing such an expression before, her eyes were cloudier than usual, and her complexion paler… was she sick?

Soon, Kishiar returned with bottled water. “Yuder here-“ Yuder reached out, but her weak arms refused to obey, a cup silently approached her lips. “Here, I’ll feed it to you, if you’ll allow me?”

Yuder found it slightly embarrassing, but the older woman seemed worried, so she quietly accepted the water, once the cup was finished, her throat felt much better than before, it no longer burned with every breath.

“Ah…Yuder I’m going to give you a week off, you need to recover properly, but don’t worry, you can stay at home from tomorrow.”

Yuder frowned slightly, she didn’t like laying around doing nothing. “There’s no need, I can work just fine…”

Kishiar tilted his head in response. “…how?”

“…?”

Kishiar sighed audibly, then proceeded to talk seriously. “Yuder, really, I can hardly accept that you’re going to work again after this…so just take a break for now.”

The younger woman lowered her gaze, but reluctantly, she nodded, maybe she could help out Enon- no. He’s going to kill her if he finds out…she’ll just stay home.

Chapter Text

It didn’t take long for Yuder to be released from the hospital, a couple of days to monitor her condition were enough to get her discharged; soon, she was brought back to her small apartment.

Yuder wasn’t particularly fond of her hospital stay, nor did she like having to do nothing for a whole week, but the nurse had clearly stated that she should rest well if she wanted to have her strength back as soon as possible, and she didn’t have much of a choice.

The first morning of her week off was tranquil, the birds chirped like any other day, and sunlight peaked through the bedroom’s window, shining against her irises as she sat up to get her day started.

The first step of Yuder’s day was to get washed and dressed comfortably, after doing that, Yuder started a light training session in the living room, warming up. As she stretched, she pondered on what she could do that week…

Yuder didn’t have much to do, thus, she would establish a simple routine, with a pen in hand, she wrote down her thoughts:

wash up, get ready.

morning training session.

lunch and walk.

Afternoon training.

Read and keeping updated.

Yuder found herself arching her eyebrow.

‘Why am I even writing this down…and isn’t this too easy?’ Whatever. She should respect the nurse’s decisions so that she could bounce back right away… yes, maybe it was for the better…

A sharp, unfamiliar sound echoed in the small apartment, as Yuder would figure out within a second, it was the doorbell.

“Good day!” Kishiar La Orr? And she was holding…cookies?

“…” Yuder’s messy hair and hardly put on outfit were befitting of her seriously confused expression, nonetheless, seemingly ignoring the indifferent expression on Yuder’s face, Kishiar smiled brightly.

“I don’t mean to bother, I’ve just brought some chocolate cookies to try… and a couple of grocery bags… are you allergic to anything by any chance?”

“…No, can I ask…why?”

“That’s great, you can refuse if you want to, I just brought what I think could make you feel better, I can cook recovery meals really well.”

“…I don’t need that though”

Gentle eyes softened. “Well, when people get injured it’s common for friends and family to help them out, and this is my way of doing it.” The older woman breathed in, then continued. “I’d like to cook for you, if that’s okay, I understand if not so don’t feel pressured, after all, I am here as myself, and not as the CEO or whatever else.”

Yuder’s head tilted slightly to the side, Kishiar looked… bright, to say the least. Would letting her in make her happier… would she smile again if Yuder let her inside?

Yuder nodded twice, parting her lips. “It would be alright, as long as you’re not avoiding work…”

Kishiar’s smile was addictingly beautiful, a beaming light shined through Yuder’s body, warming her on such a chilly day.

“Don’t worry, everything is taken care of”

Yuder walked back enough for the older woman to come in, then softly closed the door after her.

The apartment was fairly small, one bedroom, one bathroom and a combined kitchen with living room; everything was organised well and neatly, allowing a gentle minimalist vibe inside.

Kishiar brought in her grocery bags and set everything down, getting ready to start chopping and preparing the meal, Yuder tilted her head at the sight.

“…do you need help?” A slightly rough voice reached Kishiar’s ears, and her hands momentarily stopped unboxing what she had brought, her soft, ethereal eyes landing on Yuder’s own.

“Ah, no worries! You’re still recovering you shouldn’t be doing anything; you can just enjoy the show.”

“Ah.” Yuder wasn’t sure of what to do, thus, she sat nearby, and soon, her thoughts settled on the way Kishiar’s hands unpacking the aliments, a little later her eyes focused on the way she tied the apron around her waist, enchantingly highlighting her figure… then it was her voice- her eyes-

“Ah, Yuder, could you pass me the salt please?” Oh. She had zoned out. Again.

It took a second more than it would usually, but Yuder nodded and passed over what was needed. It didn’t take long for the meal to be prepared, Yuder wasn’t familiar with many recipes so she couldn’t say much, all she could guess was that it was some sort of soup, probably.

“Are you wondering what I’m cooking?” Kishiar’s eyes softened once again, Yuder nodded, unsure of what to say. The former continued. “I’m going to cook a recovery soup that’s known to work well, I’m used to make it for my brother”

“Thank you” Yuder wasn’t sure how it would taste, but if Kishiar had taken her time to cook for her… it was nice of her.

“You’re welcome! I’ll try to come more this week too”

A soft conversation filled the room with genuine smiles and familiar warmth. Soon, the soup had boiled enough and was ready to consume, allowing the two women to enjoy a warm dish together on the small table.

It didn’t take long for the soup to finish off, and Kishiar reached for the unopened cookie container, as Yuder looked at her with confused puppy eyes.

“I’ve brought cookies, I really like these, so I’d love for you to try them out!”

The beautiful woman smiled as she opened the box, a gentle aura surrounding her, Yuder couldn’t help herself, a soft smile painting her stoic expression.

Soon, a first biscuit was handed over, it tasted sweet, drizzled in caramel, the taste melted on her tongue.

The second was slightly different than the first and so was the third, until the box finished.

Finishing the last one, Yuder raised her head to look at Kishiar, but unexpectedly, the woman was…lost? She was staring right back at Yuder, or at least, that’s what it looked like, but she had yet to notice anything…

“…thank you for everything” a whisper-like voice was enough to interrupt Kishiar’s monologue, her eyes snapped up, blinking rapidly, she exclaimed.

“Ah! Right, thank you, I’ll bring you more next time”

“There’s no need for you to do so much… I’ll be fine” Kishiar sighed silently.

“I’ll send you some through the mail then, you’re welcome to come by the office anytime, or my house, I’ll tell you where it is. I’d like to see you soon to talk about more technical details… but a call is just fine as well, your choice”

“Understood”

And so, Kishiar left, taking some of the light she had guided in with her, Yuder almost regretted it, but for that day, she decided to complete her routine task, ending it with a simple dinner consisting of boiled noodles, a simple yet effective dish.

━━━━━━♡♤♡━━━━━━

The second morning wasn’t as calm as the first one, thunders had struck in the night, dragging down the light until the morning, yet, the cool gentle feeling of the rain was comforting to Yuder, and she trained hard that day, more than the day before.

No one came ringing the doorbell to stop her from her training, but that was alright too, she cooked some pasta for herself then decided to speculate on which type of strategy would work best in a situation similar to what happened last time, in order to avoid it happening a second time.

That day was simple yet practical, having done what she wished, Yuder went to bed satisfied.

━━━━━━♡♤♡━━━━━━

The third day was calmer than the second, Yuder succeeded in training and consequently washing up for the morning, soon, a sound she didn’t know she was waiting for reached her ears.

‘The doorbell.’ Subconsciously stating the obvious, Yuder walked towards the door, but unexpectedly, there was just a cookie box on the ground, and no one outside.

“…”  unbeknownst to her, a small frown appeared on her face.

Yuder set the box on the table, then reluctantly went back in to cook herself lunch, it wasn’t anything grandiose, just noodles again, this time with a different topping than the previous one.

Following lunch, as she had planned and wrote down in order to stay active, she prepared to go on a walk, or, well, a run to be more precise.

The area was perfect to exercise, there was plenty of room and a big park close by, allowing a peaceful running session, as Yuder walked, she inevitably found herself in front of the company’s main building, she found herself inexplicably searching for something, specifically looking at the second floor’s windows.

‘…I should thank her for the cookies…’ finally finding a way to explain herself, Yuder walked over to the entrance, then confirmed her identity and went up the elevator until she reached the second floor.

Walking through the many offices, she found herself hesitating to knock, her knuckles still held up high.

“Ah-. “ the door opened, and Yuder found herself staring right ahead, in front of her, there was a man, he had blonde hair and those same eyes he was familiar with… was it the lady’s… brother?

The man offered her a gentle smile, but Yuder couldn’t help but nice the fatigue seeping through his skin, her lips stayed flat in response.

“Yuder, how nice it is to have you honouring me with your presence” Yuder’s eyes switched back between the young woman and the man, trying to solve a mystery.

“…”

“…You must be Yuder Aile” A different voice sounded, a soft yet powerful voice. Yuder nodded seriously at the question.

“Ah, I’m Keilusa, Kishiar’s brother” he indicated Kishiar, who stood right beside him. “When I heard about a bodyguard, I thought she had truly gone crazy, and maybe she did… well, I have to go, it was nice meeting you, Yuder”

The man quickly walked out, and all parties in the room could see how obviously quickened the steps were, but none commented on it.

It didn’t take long for her attention to be caught right back, and if it was hard to focus before, now that the subject of her thoughts was right in front of her… it was… hard.

“Yuder, how about you come in and have some tea with me?”

“Alright… I came here to thank you for those biscuits” Focus, Yuder.

“Did you eat them? They’re amazing, I made sure to get one of each type, you can thank Nath for going to get them!”  Yuder managed to look away to look around the lady’s office, but the adjutant wasn’t there, she raised an eyebrow in confusion, at that, the soft voice sounded once again.

“Ah, she’s out dealing with errands, you can thank her later or I can pass it on for you, how about we get started?” The older woman showed a gentle smile, her lips parted once again. “We do have some important things to talk about, if you’re alright with it.”

Yuder nodded at the words, she had started having doubts about what recently happened and discussing it with the only other person present other than the aggressors at the time was the best choice.

The next chapter is going to take a while for a couple of reasons, first is school because I am SO busy, second is I have no motivation lowkey, third is there is going to be a fanweek in October, and I want to write one shots for everyday… and maybe a couple drawings while I’m at it. Chapter Text

A cup of tea was placed in front of Yuder, into which Kishiar gracefully poured tea.

The two women had sat down to discuss important matters, and soon, a voice started the conversation.

“You might not have noticed during the fight, but they let out an important detail about their boss. I have my suspicions about who it could be”

“They were highly trained individuals that were planning to lure me in, likely to postpone your arrival to the show.” Yuder spoke confidently, telling what she deemed important.

“I agree, if my intuition isn’t wrong, it would have been to create rumours and such” Yuder noted down every detail in her mind, then her eyes sharpened.

“Are there already rumours spreading around?” A frown appeared on her face, and Kishiar sighed.

“Yes, but you need not worry about the that, I will have it taken care of, you should focus on healing.”

The younger woman’s frown deepened further. “Tell me now, I need to know.”

“…Alright.” Kishiar’s hand hovered above her pocket, before diving in and pulling out a phone, reluctantly typing words to then carefully pass it over.

Yuder was rarely surprised, but not being really present online this was… weird. At the very least.

The screen Yuder saw was a collection of comments and people’s opinions… most were outright wrong, out of place, yet they were appreciated and seen as right… Yuder scrolled down, mentally noting down what she saw.

The first post read ‘Orr CEO seen at the hospital, was she injured, is it the new bodyguards fault?’ Yuder frowned.

‘Kishiar was never injured in the first place.’ she pressed on the screen to see the respective responses; negative feedback flooded the phone:

F4sh10n_1c0n: I knew that getting a bodyguard wasn’t a good idea smh, La Orr has always been safe with her adjutant, I’m calling it. I think her bodyguard set her up.

Us3r18293: the bodyguard doesent look strong at all. I saw them running around the shops before the announcement, they looked weak and I can’t even tell if they’re a man or a woman.

F1ll3d_3g0: if that fuckahh kid failed to protect la Orr then it’s gotta be a woman istg.

S1mply_M3: either way if that staff stopped Orr from going to her show… she just lost a big opportunity, wether it’s true or not that she’s hurt does not matter, that person should be fired.

S0m3one3e: NAHH that so called bodyguard HAS to get fired, I am SURE that they’re the reason why my lady was hurtttt

^Ly1ric_d3r34m: I don’t think THE Orr would be stupid enough to fall for that, either it’s staged, or they encountered something that stopped them.

^5TraT3gy57: it can’t be staged. That show would have greatly enhanced her career.

^Lyric_d3r34m: good point. Then it is likely that they were stopped by something on the way, I’m waiting on more info to accuse the bodyguard though.

“The situation is pretty rough, isn’t it?” A soft, familiar voice interrupted Yuder’s frowning.

“It is.” Yuder scrolled down to another post, this one read “CEO of a trending fashion company refusing to attend a festival show, what do you think happened?”

The comments under the post were just as outrageous as the first, a few selected answers were defending her and Kishiar, but the vast majority were accusing both of interrupting a show, theories of why, when and how everything happened flooded the page.

“…”

“…Yuder.” The young woman’s eyes lifted, distracting her focus from the phone’s screen.

A hand reached out, and Yuder handed Kishiar’s phone back. “Don’t worry too much about the rumours, they won’t be much of a problem to handle. I was more worried about our physical safety after that attack; we’ll need to stay more alert.”

“Understood. But how will you deal with the rumours?” Yuder looked at Kishiar seriously, the latter smiled softly.

“Well, that depends. A good idea would be to directly show your strength and apologise by hosting a special show, but that might not protect your privacy, unless I cover your face. The other option would be to address the rumours by denying them, but the chances of it working aren’t too high. Of course, we could also wait for them do die down.”

“I don’t mind being shown, if you wish to show my strength… hosting a fight event directly could be successful”

“Mhm… what do you mean by a fight event?”

“An event in which people can try to win against me in a duel, of course, there would be rules in that case, to protect both the players.”

“We can make that work. I believe offering a prize for winning  and designing practical clothing for it could work… it would take a while for everything to be ready, but we would be hitting 2 birds with one stone, we would address the rumours while showing that you can in fact protect me, while also responding to the recent attack we received.”

Yuder nodded, it seemed like a well thought plan.

“As for the attacker, I already have my suspicions as to who it could be, I’ll tell you once I’m certain. Nath will help and hopefully provide evidence.”

Silence filled the room, until it was broken by that comforting voice Yuder was so familiar with.

“Now that all the stressful matters have been dealt with, would you want to go on a walk with me?”  A smirk appeared on Kishiar’s lips, Yuder could feel her cheeks warming.

⭑·゚゚·*:༅。.。༅:*゚:*:✼✿✼:*゚:༅。.。༅:*·゚゚·⭑

“It’s peaceful walking in this area, isn’t it?” Kishiar walked calmly towards the road that led to the park.

Yuder let her body relax as she felt the gentle winter breeze graze against her skin, she responded calmly. “Mhm, it truly is peaceful”

A soft smile enhanced Kishiar’s features. “It truly is, I especially enjoy having such good company here with me”

“…” Yuder kept her face turned towards the opposite direction, hiding something she herself wasn’t aware of.

“Have you ever danced before, Yuder?” Her eyes widened slightly at the unexpected question, her lips parted.

Yuder shook her head. “No, I’ve never danced before.” Her eyes settled on Kishiar’s “have you?”

Kishiar’s eyes lit up. “Mhm! I’ve learned to dance when I was younger, my parents urged me to learn formal dancing”

Yuder silently wondered how Kishiar would look when dancing, but her lips stayed flat, she settled on a different question.

“In what occasion would you be asked to dance?” Yuder allowed herself to ask instead.

“Well, I have been invited to formal balls before; unknown to many, such events are still occasionally hosted, even though their thriving time has long passed.” The older woman continued. “It’s mainly seen as an opportunity for fashion companies such as mine to showcase their designs”

Yuder nodded, she wasn’t aware of such events, but it was useful to know. Kishiar’s eyes searched for her own, slowly walking through the park.

“I have been invited to such an event. It would take place in a few months, although I have yet to accept the invitation.” Kishiar looked straight into Yuder’s eyes.

“Are these events popular?” Yuder realised a little too late that she couldn’t look away.

“Among fashion companies, yes. It’s usually broadcasted on live television or such. It’s a source of great advertisement, that’s why most accept.”

“That’s interesting, I had never known about this before.”

“Mhm! I will accept as well, but the preparations are complex. I will be working on the designs for a long time.”

Having walked across part of the park, the two women sat down for a moment, indulging in each other’s quiet presence.

Walking back, the conversations were calm and collected, Kishiar’s voice filling the air. despite the cold winter, Yuder felt warm.

Before Yuder knew it, she found herself right in front of her apartment’s door, her eyes softening as Kishiar waved goodbye.

In the apartment, the cookies’ box laid untouched on the table, Yuder brushed her fingers against the cardboard box, then quietly opened them, inside, 12 cookies each of different flavours were neatly placed.

Yuder decided to eat a couple of them, but no matter the flavour, she couldn’t particularly discern the taste to determine whether she liked them or not… they just tasted…fine.

Notes:

The most I write the most the plot becomes confusing, I genuinely have no idea where this is even set ( ̄∇ ̄)

I’m starting to think this fic will be longer than 20 chapters… The og chapter list has 20 chapters but I’m using it more as a suggestion rather than a reference… so I really don’t know where this will end up, I guess we’ll see (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

Bro writing fanfics is lowkey changing me, I’ve started trying to understand the pattern and how writing flows when reading something I like… I think I’m going crazy…

Thanks to @King_Triton for giving me an idea on how to stop the rumours! (It will be more apparent in the next chapters, Kishiar will post about her event online and address the rumours while doing that)
Big thanks to @windyxachilles and @Mostly_Stable as well for being one of my very few sources of motivation for this fic ☆〜(ゝ。∂)
(I know @ tag doesent work but eh I’m trying..)

P.S I do have drawings I kinda wanted to post in here but I have no idea how to… maybe I will in future chapters idk if it’s even worth it bc they lowkey ass too ( ̄▽ ̄)

P.S I think I’m lowkey going too fast because I simply like to write Kishiar and Yuder more romantically and stuff… they’ve known eachother for like huh 3 weeks at this point? Ugh I hope I’m not rushing

Notes:
