Work Text:
It all started simply. I was looking through the shelves and across the library I saw this beautiful woman that has been coming here for the past week, I figured out her name is Elle. She was so gorgeous that she could've been on the cover of a magazine. She had this flowing sundress on and had the brightest smile while reading. I, on the other hand, looked like the boring side character that you could barely see on the book cover. Oh how I wished I could gather the courage to go and talk to her, but I just couldn’t. Maybe if she noticed me or if she was looking for a book I would. But no, she was too into her book that she wouldn’t notice a nobody like me.

I tried small, subtle things that could possibly grab her attention, but I only got weird looks from the other visitors. If only I could pick myself up and walk over and just start a conversation with her. Would it be about her book? Or her dress and how much I love it? What if someone interrupts and I just look weird and awkward? What if she isn’t even remotely interested and I look like a fool for even trying to talk with her? I shake those thoughts away and force myself to try to walk towards her. However, since I’m on one of the highest shelves, that would mean making a commotion, but I do it anyway hoping someone would pick me up and walk towards the magazine section of the library so I can try and talk to her.
~~~~~~~~~~
However, nobody does since they’re all too entranced with whatever they’re doing to notice me fall off the shelf. Now that I’m on the floor, I can’t see her beautiful face anymore. I try to get anyone’s attention, even the little children browsing with their families, but to no avail. I stay on the carpeted floor until the library closes and the librarian puts me back where I originally was, on the shelf with the perfect view of my love. The librarian leaves and the lights are shut off, and the night begins with me hoping my plan works tomorrow.
