Chapter Text

Jacob woke up to throbbing pain in his head. He knew he was about to die. His so called family took care of that. He was dying in hospital bed and they could not even wait to plan his husband‘s wedding. In fact, his brother came personally to ensure he dies as soon as possible. To make sure his twin sister marries his husband on an auspicious day, he was killed. They did not celebrate his death, not openly.but his lingering soul could feel their relief. The way his mother sighed, his father stayed grim and silent. his brother’s evading eyes, no guilt while sharing the news and Jenny his dear sister could not hide the joy on her face, not from him. It was pointless.! He was tired really, exhausted from humiliating life dragging on and on collecting betrayals and disappointments from the people who were supposed to protect him. He just wanted peace..He just needed to see his child once before he left. His son was innocent in all this and Jacob loved him so much that he had fought death to bring him in the world. Suddenly he found himself in the Manor, his so called home. His prison for last s four years. The mood was bustling with the preparation for his funeral.He found Alex and Michael discussing his death.

Alex sighed.”, finally, it’s over” his expression complicated, grief and guilt mixed in an ugly way

That’s all that’s all he gets from the love of his life, his Alpha over his death !

Michael, who was looking down, suddenly, looked at Jacob, calling him out. Jacob took a step back, afraid that he could see him. He remembered their last meeting. Michael talking, justifying. He remembered he could not understand the whole speech through the haze of illness.

“…. it’s for the better. it’s anyway inevitable. you just leave early, no pain, I promise. I am sorry, Jacob for everything.”

As soon as Jacob understood that his brother was going to kill him, he was gripped with shock and pain. He had not in felt it when poison was injected in his in the needle of his hand. He did not want to die. Could not leave his child behind. He had begged them for the treatment, no one had cared enough to check on him once he was thrown in the hospital.Though he could not speak his eyes showed the pain of betrayal. He was feeling. Soon, his chest constricted feeling as if someone is crushing his heart. He could not breathe. He was drowning as blood gushed through his mouth and nose. A single tear roll down his gaze fixed on Michael, he died with his eyes open and full of bitterness..

“Jacob. Look at me!”

“ am I not dead? Why is he calling me?” , Jacob thought groggily hearing Michaels shouts. But when he saw Michael‘s face very close to him, he moved back, terrified.

“ hey, did I hit you too hard? Show me? “ Michael reached out . Panic up flared up through Jacob. He crawled back. Looking at his brothers puzzle face, he stood up. And rushed out..

Jenny tried to stop him. “Jake. Wait!”he snatched his hand from her.. She fell back as if she was pushed. He didn’t stay to watch her pitiful performance, he ran. He ran for his life. He ran until his legs gave up. He stood in the middle of the street, drivers cursing as they drove past him.

“Go die somewhere else..”

“I already did. I am dead , right?”

But how could he run so much.. ‘I am not sick anymore, my organs are not failing. I’m not laying in hospital waiting for an early death… too weak to be awake! But didn’t Michael kill me? Then why was he back home, what was I doing there… wait! Was it all just a dream? My marriage , pregnancy , my baby…my death… was it a dream… no it happened. I lived it . Then what’s happening now.. I .. I was home. And I am here … alive. Then was Michael trying to kill me again… no it didn’t look like that. ‘

He wandered off the road. Looking at the colourful flags adorning entryway of stadium. The square displayed large digital poster for the concert ‘together’.

Wait. This concert was long ago right? In 2020 maybe! I wasn’t even married then.

He rushed in a shop frantically asking for the today’s date. Finally, after confirming, with some stroke of luck he was back in time before everything happened, he walked out dazed. Though he walked slowly, his mind ran in fast circles. Moon goddess has sent him into the time before he made the biggest mistake of his life and forced Alpha Alex in marriage with him. Before he was branded with title of a scheming evil monster who stole his own sisters life. Now he realise what was happening back at home. Alex Reed’s family did not want him as an omega anymore. They were replacing him with his twin sister Jenny . But how could he accept that ? He had loved Alex since childhood. So he fought with Jenny ,accused her of manipulating everyone and stealing his engagement. His family , frustrated took Jenny’s side. He screamed, made a scene.. and their big brother had hit him in a moment of rage. That’s when he lost consciousness for sometime and woke up with all those horrible memories.. in his last life, they had blamed him of faking the faint. But he really had fainted that time. Now that he thinks this was the time he started losing everything, their love,their trust. And their protection.. he had come back in the worst phase of life.

He was declared a defective omega, one who could not control his pheromones, one who had lost his scent. Who Goes in heat without any prior warning… He was a male Omega, rarest of them all. Chance of male omega with funnctioning reproductive organs is rare than an enigma being born. Thus he was considered precious gift from moon goddess. A male omega capable of giving birth, a prime omega. That was a reason, his family doted on him. He gave them prestige in society, and they loved him like a precious gem protecting him more than Jenny, his twin sister, two minutes, elder than him. He never knew that their favouritism would make her so jealous that she would ruin his life, in such a way that he would loose everything he had.

Maybe this was second chance, he could turn things around. Though he was already poisoned and lost his scent he could at least prevent any further tragedy. Last time he had begged and cried for Alex to accept him, only to be met with the cold calculating indifference. This time he would not be entangled with that ruthless alpha. If Jenny wants him, she can have him. He would stay far away from them.

Suddenly he heard a loud horn, and a car skidded past by him. He lost his balance and fell down, his hand shot out trying to break the fall. Pain flared up from his knees, waist and settled on the hand trapped under him. He tried to to look up, sky was darker. He had no idea where he was and someone was trying to talk to him, trying to get him up. But he couldn’t hear anything through the ringing in his ears. He smiled at himself, ‘ great way to start a new life, Jacob!”
Everything went dark.

Chapter Text

Oliver Turner regretted taking his fathers call while driving. Now he had hit someone. He tried to call the person but he seemed too out of it. The boy was younger than him probably beta. And yet too gorgeous to be a beta. His hand looked injured the way he cradled it to his chest. Oliver tried asking his name, but he looked too dazed to understand. So Oliver scooped him into his arms and put him into passenger seat. As soon as the person was in his arms, something clicked in his chest. As if some old ache has been cured! He smelled the boy’s neck, instinctively and inhaled most delicious smell in the world.

“ Omega! “ he exclaimed.
“mine!” His inner self growled.

By the time his car entered the gates , his butler George has already called the doctor in. Oliver Turner bringing an unknown omega into hospital would have been a scandalous news and ‘Turners pharmaceutical pvt limited’ had a good team of doctors. So taking the omega home and treating him there was better option.

The doctor declared the person was indeed an omega, and fertile one at that. After treating his injuries he said that the patient should rest for the night and can be taken for X-ray tomorrow.

“ Though I am sure that he just sprained his hand, it’s better to be sure.”

“ Okay I will make arrangements to take him to hospital tomorrow. What about his scent?”

“ He is an omega. I’m sure he has some kind of pheromone disorder. We will need to some tests to determine what exactly is wrong.”, doctor said.

“Okay. Take his blood right now while he is asleep, it should not be painful for him “, Oliver ordered.

“ Alright. He doesn’t have any identity proof on him. Send me the details later. “, as the doctor draws blood he says,” Male Prime omegas are rare to find but if he is your fated bond as you say it’s quite acceptable that he is such a rare person. “

“ Hmmn. But he was very disturbed. I think he is dealing with something serious.”

It was still dark when Jacob woke up. There was a man sleeping awkwardly in a chair next to his bed. He laid down trying to to blink sleep out of his eyes, aches and pains materialised through his body. His head was throbbing ,hand hurting! Then he remembered that he was back in time. His family was on the verge of of discarding him and he was about to make biggest mistake of his life. He looked at the handsome man dozing off on the chair, he didn’t remember seeing him in his past life. But he didn’t ran off after the argument last time so the accident never happened.

‘ No. I can’t afford to change everything because of my actions otherwise I would not have control over future. I have to know what’s happening if I want to change my fate‘

He decided to leave silently so that this stranger would not get involved in his story. But as soon as he reached the door he heard a deep voice,

“ leaving already? “ Jacob yelped.and looked back at the mischievous expression of the man.

“I.. I have something to do. “ , he exclaimed

“ Sure. But you should take the medicine first . We can have early breakfast before that if you want “

“ No . Thank you really. But I have to go..”

“Hey. It’s dark out there. And we are far from city . Just one coffee and I will arrange a car for you to go. It’s not safe for an omega to roam around in this area, especially in your condition..”

Jacobs eyes widened. ‘how did he know? Condition what condition, does he know that I am in preheat? But how’s that possible, nobody can smell until it’s too late?’

“ How…” he trailed off.

“ The doctor told me. He also told me that you need to get some tests done today . Let’s go!”

As they Settled around the table, cups in hand Oliver noticed slight grimace at the bitterness on the Omega’s face. ’ Likes only sweet things Hmmn’ he thought to himself and brought cookies from a jar and placed it in front of him.Jacob took a bite and sighed in a relief.He hated coffee but nobody cares, so he has learned to mask his emotions.

“ I am Oliver. What’s your name?”

Jacob stared at his extended hand without shaking it.
“ Do you really don’t know me? The only male omega in the city.” He said exasperated.

“ I was out of country for most of my life. Recently moved back.” The man answered calmly.

“ Oh. I’m Jacob Rosewood “ , he finally shook the offered hand.

“Nice to meet you Jacob. Can we exchange contacts ? I want to compensate for your injury..”

“ No no .. no need for that. It was my mistake, I didn’t know where I was moving. I’m sorry to cause you trouble…”

“Hey hey… calm down. We were both at fault. How about you give me a treat and we are even. “ Oliver tried to calm the flustered omega down.

Finally they did exchanged numbers as Jacob really had to go back home. He had his family to deal with.

Chapter Text

      “ Where have you been been?”

       Jacob froze at the question. Stayed silent.

      “ What? Roaming around in night. Not even informing your family… what behaviour is this?” Michael asked, furious.

         “ What? Don’t tell me you were worried about me.” Jacob smirked.

         “ Jacob , how can you talk like this to brother. Of course, We were all worried about you.” , Jenny tried to mediate, expertly fanning the flames.

        “Oh. So which one of you ran after me , yesterday? Did you call the police? I was in an accident, did you search for me when you could not contact me?”

      Jenny looked away.

       “ What. We thought you are throwing a tantrum again. And what’s with the bandages? Are you really hurt?” Michael came closer trying to check his hand.

Jacob took a step back.

      “ No. I’m just pretending to be hurt to invoke your non-existent sympathy. Now I need to sleep off the painkillers, excuse me.”  Jacob said and limped away leaving his siblings dumbfounded.

         Jacob knew this was coming. Family meetings in his father’s study were serious business. But now he knows that this was just a tool to control.

       “ We really don’t want to do this. But you know how Alex’s mother is! Please Jacob, try to understand.” His mother pleaded, always the peacemaker.

        “ What exactly do you want from me?“

       “ Just let Jenny marry into Reed family.Don’t cause trouble. If you wouldn’t have been facing this problem with your pheromones, it wouldn’t have happened anyway. “ , his father said, cold calculating.

          “ So I should let the alpha go who claimed to love me since childhood. I should stand aside and smile while he marries and marks my own sister so that she can live in luxury and you can save your company. Right?”, Jacob asked ice settling in his eyes.

William Rosewood’s jaw clenched as he was cornered by his emotionally volatile child.

            “ You! How dare you…” , Michael stood up but was pulled down by Jenny , who surprisingly was wise enough to shut up for once.

           “ What? Big brother,Did I say something wrong ?” He mocked.

            “ Don’t blame Jenny, she has nothing to do with this. It was Reeds who asked for her hand .” Michael sputtered.

           “ Tch Tsch! Always Protecting Jenny. When we were kids, it was because I was celebrated you said Jenny has nothing  compared to you, so I will protect her. Now I have nothing, yet no protection for me?” He intended to keep his tone mocking but couldn’t keep the tremble out of his voice. Not that they would notice, they have  been blind to his pain.

          “ It’s not like that.” , Michael turned away, ashamed. Good. He should be. He has always been Jenny’s lackey . He had tormented Jacob for a lifetime under her provocation and finally killed him.

Jacob had no reason to maintain mirage of family bonds.

         “ I know you are hurting. Doing this is not easy for us too.Who would swap their child’s life like this? But we really have no option, Jake baby. We are not abandoning you . I promise you that me and your father will arrange for good match for you soon!”  His mother tried to soothe him.

         “ And who will accept a discarded defective omega? Who was left by an alpha after playing with him for years and his family did not even stand up for him. Your promises mean nothing, mother. You know that you are destroying my life.”

       “ Then what do you want us to do? There is no other solution. Reeds won’t marry you!”she asked.

         “ Then break the engagement. I don’t want marry him. But why replace me with her?” He pointed a finger at Jenny who was looking down.

          “ You know that is not possible. We need their support and they need ours.Both companies are very much entangled with each other.” His father said, a grudging respect in his tone . He was puzzled by the change in Jacob’s attitude. He had expected crying and screaming but this Jacob was nothing like the entitled prince he had raised.

       “ Okay.” Jacob said calmly.

        “What? Do you agree?” He was pinned with the shocked gazes of his family.

         “ But I have two conditions!”

         “Name it!” His father answered before others came to their senses.

          “First , I want thirty percent shares in the company and second I want to leave!”

       “What!”

        “Are you crazy?”

        “Jake!”

           Everyone spoke at same time, trying to figure out what was wrong with him to put such demands.

           “ What do you mean by leaving?” His father answered before with almost calm voice.

             “ Severence agreement. Legally binding. I want nothing to do with this family . You fulfill both of my conditions I will be out of your hair! “

             “ This is preposterous!” Michael boomed

            “ This is for your precious Jenny, remember?” Jacob smirked.

           “ Jake, even if you are angry, you can’t just leave us. We are family.” Jenny tried

          “ Where will you go? I’m sure we can find another way, Jake.” His mother pleaded

          “ Do you think I will be able live here after my own family and fiancée humiliate me like this. It’s better I go away now and start somewhere else mother.

      “He has a point .”, his father , William Rosewood was a man of few words but once he spoke he was determined to make sure they were true.

        “ But severance agreement? What are you plotting Jake” Michael was still skeptical.

         “ Whatever it is, it’s nothing to do with you once I am out of here

         “ We can arrange for you to live somewhere peaceful. You don’t need to go this far .”

         “These are my conditions take it or leave it .” Jacob said firmly.

         “Or else? What if we don’t agree ?” Jenny sure knows how to ask important questions.

       “When is the engagement party? I am sure you have fixed the date. “

       They all looked away guilty.

       “See you don’t care if I agree or not… you probably didn’t invite me so that I can’t cause a scene. It’s all right , I have my ways to find out when and where, I will come and offer my blessing “,He said nonchalantly.

         “No you will do no such things. “ , his father said trying to control the fury in his voice.

         “Then sign the papers and let us part amicably. You have two days… Otherwise you are responsible for what I will do on next Tuesday .”

       “How?” Michael asked looking at Jenny’s shocked face

          “How do I know the date? Trust me , I know many more things big brother. I know about Jared’s missing omega wife . And I have proof too. Father, how was your business trip last month?” He got up looking at their rapidly paling faces.

          “I will wait for two days. Call me when you you are ready.”

          Jacob moved out of the house immediately, while they were still reeling from the shock. He had to be careful, they won’t hesitate to do harm him if he becomes inconvenient. They had done so in his past life.

         He checked in a hotel with good security and went to bank nearby. Opened a new account, one that’s not controlled by his family. As he was signing documents to move all his money to the new account he went back to a memory,

He was in heat. Thick potent scent filled in the room,unease clawing his abdomen as he waited for his mother to pick up the phone.

   “Hello “

   “ Mom, I.. I am going in heat.

    “Again?”

     “I need inhibitors, mine are over. Can you… can you lend me some money .” He was going through the heat alone again in the house supposedly his marital home. His alpha ignoring him. His six months old son in nanny’s care somewhere he didn’t know. And he had no money to buy pheromone inhibitors to go through it. His father had frozen his cards long ago in retaliation of his betrayal… and now he was all alone , hurting and humiliated.

      “ You are married omega now., Jacob. You should not be using those things “

       “Mom, you know Alex doesn’t care. “

       “ Hey, don’t say that. He said he tries to be with you. But if you go in heat every few days without any clue when, how can he help? He must have something important to do, otherwise he is a good alpha. After what you did to force him to marry you, he is more than generous with you “

       “Right. He is good alpha. It’s all my mistake. But he is not here… mom, please. Give me some money “

       “ I can’t honey. Your father has forbidden us to give you anything “

      “ not money then. At least send me some inhibitors . Please mom, I can’t take it anymore “

    His mom sighed.” Fine I’ll see what I can do “

He never got the medicine. Crazed by pain and need he clawed his skin raw, cried his eyes out. Finally when everything got too much, he decided to take drastic action. He got a knife from kitchen and tried to cut his gland off. It was the reason for his misery, so he decided that his defective gland would go even if it turns him into beta, even if it kills him.

      He woke up in hospital, half dead from the blood loss. His mother sat by his side, ashamed eyes evading him. He sighed in disappointment.

       Later when the doctor scolded him for leaving his omega alone in heat, Alex had came to apologise.His regret seemed almost genuine. Jacob stayed silent, he had long known Alex was romancing his sister now . There was nothing genuine about that man. He had loved him for the status he brought as prime omega. He had discarded him as soon as his pheromonal disorder became inconvenient .He had fallen in love with Jenny and tortured him  for her sake . Ignored his calls for help during his heat. However righteous Alex  behaved , Jacob knew he was a cruel person to who could not show grace to his past lover. So he stayed quiet. He had no expectations, no hopes.

        By the time he was discharged from hospital, Alex grew impatient. His grand performance of regret was a failure . Finally he snapped in the car.

      “ Fine. What do you want? This was my mistake, you can ask for anything this one time I will give you . “

      Jakob looked at him puzzled.

       “ I want pheromone inhibitors and suppressants. Large quantities, should last for years. You can get me a subscription if you want.

        “ Why don’t you buy it yourself?”

           Jacob had always been generous with his money back in college. Now that his family has cut him off, he was just a penniless orphan.

       “ Don’t tell me you don’t have money“ , Alex asked incredulous.Jacob looked down in his lap trying to push his tears away. “ Fine, take this card, you can spend however you want.”

          “ No. I just need inhibitors. Nothing else.” He didn’t take the card.

         “ I thought you would ask to see our son.” Alex muttered

          “ What’s the point?” Jacob said , his head leaning against the window feeling the vibrations of the car through his aching temple.

          Jacob pushed the memory away, and  wiped his tears with sleeve and left the bank.

          “ Roaming around, again?” He heard the question and turned to the man , casually leaning on a black luxury car smirk in place.

      “Ugh. Met only two times and irritating me already.” Jacob muttered.

        “ Get in the car!”

         “ What ? why ?”

          “ I am taking you for a X-ray.”

         “ No need. I’m fine now “ Jacob showed his bandaged hand .

          “ Then let’s go eat, you owe me a meal.”

         “ I have something to do , Mr. Turner. We can eat tomorrow. “

         “ Have you eaten yet today?”

       “ I… uh.. I have.” Jacob lied. He had totally forgot to eat .

       “ Come with me. I have something important to tell you.”

        “ What is it?”

        “ Not here. Get in the car.”

        “ I really don’t have time. …

        “ Don’t worry, I just want to speak. Then you can go.

        They both got in the car. Oliver started the engine and sped away. Jacob stared at him, waiting.

       As they left the crowded city behind, he started panicking.

       “ Where are you..”

       “ Shoo!” Oliver put a finger on his mouth and pointed at the sky in front of them. Sun was setting at the zenith ,sky was coloured in shades of bright red, Orange and pink yellow , long black rows  of mountains providing beautiful contrast. It was breathtaking!

       “Wow. “ Jacob stared, momentarily forgetting all about his miserable life.

       They stopped at a small roadside store , vast  wild planes spread in front of the place. Oliver asked him to stay in the car and ran out to the store. Jacob bit his nails with worry, he didn’t know the man . He was obviously wealthy , so his family must be connected with Jacobs’s circle. He had neither time nor will to find out more.

       Oliver came out holding two mugs of hot noodles. He had got hot water from the shack and made cup noodles for them. As they ate in silence He kept stealing glances at Jacob. The omega in front of him was really cute. He was very beautiful in the traditional sense yes, long legs slim waist and a face to die for… but his mannerisms were just so out of the world! He was sassy, spoke with no filter,ate with no pretence and genuine like fresh air!

     Jacob scrunched his nose as he finished his noodles and looked up.” Stop staring!”

“ You are cute “

“ You are stupid!” Oliver laughed.

“ Listen, I don’t know why you are haunting me, but I’m really not going to entertain you anymore. You said you have to tell me something.. now is the time!” Jacob was fed up with this smug alpha. He was everywhere since he got his memory back, but he couldn’t remember Oliver turner from his last life. He remembers their was a fierce inheritance struggle in Turner family around this time, and later the whole company went down within 3 years. He had no intention to get entangled with a drowning empire. The sooner he gets away the better!

      “ You have been poisoned!”

      “And?” Jacob said flatly

      “ You are not surprised!”  How could he be surprised? In his past life, His dear sister had visited him in hospital to generously inform him how she has poisoned him for years to ruin him and snatch his perfect life! She told him how in highschool Alex had met her first , flirted with her, made her fall in love and as soon as found out about her  prime omega brother changed lane to pursue him…that scoundrel!  And Jacob had in vain tried to cure his pheromone disorder, no doctor could find the cause and he was declared incurable… defective! It was a brilliant idea really. Just to do this to your own brother.. Jacob was stunned with betrayal, the last amount of sibling love was snuffed out from his heart.

       “ Who was it? Family?” Oliver asked, quite fury making his voice deeper.

       “ Who else? Why do you think I am living in a hotel? “

       “ We can get rid of the culprit. Do you have any proof?”

       “ No. it’s not easy. And I am not going back there. Getting away is the best bet now… I will use whatever time I have left to make theirs hell!”

      “ I may have a solution for you “ , Oliver said tentatively.

      “ There is no cure. Stop your nonsense “

      “ No really! It’s not mainstream yet. But I am confident.”

     “ What’s your game? You tested me behind my back and now you have a cure… who sent you” Jacob asked furiously. He could not understand if the man was complicating things or he  was heaven’s interference in his favour.

     “ You know Turner pharmaceutical Limited right? I am the new CEO. Just took charge. We have a new drug , a pheromone detoxifier basically but it’s in testing stage. I don’t know if it will cure you but It can help you buy time for whatever revenge you’re plotting.”

     “ I am not plotting anything!” He said defensive

     “ Yeah, sure!”

     “ Listen, I am very serious about this and I will not hesitate to to eliminate you if you keep being obstacle.”

      “ Ok ok. Even though you look like a little kitten threatening me , I am going to help you with your plan”

       “ why. I’m sure you were not here last time. Edward Turner took charge and ruined your company! Where did you came from? Is this the butterfly effect?”

      Oliver looked on , puzzled. Edward was his father’s legitimate son and totally incompetent to do anything. He was sure that if given charge he would ruin the company but what was this angry omega  chattering about?

     Suddenly Jacob’s phone rang. He looked at it and canceled the call. It rang again, he cut it. Oliver saw the name Alex poping.

      “ Why is he calling now?” Jacob muttered to himself. Then he remembered that in last life after Jacob made a scene in the morning Alex had come to convince him! He remembered how he rebuked Jacob in condescending tone. How he protected Jenny behind his back as if Jacob was some madman. He was sure his family had got the golden boy involved again. He scoffed.

        “ Where are you?We need to talk!” Alex sent a message.

        “ Who is that?” Oliver asked.

        “ My fiance “ he said. Rejoiced when the alpha’s face fell.

       “ You should pick up then. Are you afraid he will misunderstand us driving off like this?”

        “ Nope. He is calling to get my blessings to marry my sister. I should call him ex-fiancée really.” Jacob said bitterly.

      “ Then he is the biggest loser. You should  kick him out of your life. Don’t do it on phone, it’s better in person “

    “ You have a point. he thinks that I am dying to marry him. I should break up in person , it would be nice to see that smug look vanishing off his face.” Jacob grinned. No way he was going to marry that guy in this life. He sent a quick message to Alex to meet him tomorrow at cafe Atomix.

     “ Thanks for the noodles and the trip really, it made me feel better today “, Jacob said sincerely

       “ Oh. I just called you here to ask this. I really need to test the drug. I will help you to get back at those people if you need. Will you do this?” Jacob thought ‘Why does he need me to test it?why is he so flustered? Anyways there is no loss in trying right? ‘

        “ okay we’ll talk about it later. I have to find a place to live before my heat. I have to be very careful this time otherwise that dog will destroy my life again. “

       “ Again? Did he do something to you?” Oliver asked almost growling.

       “ Yah yah . Hold your horses. I remember my last life. So I am trying to salvage whatever I can. You are just the extra person, so no need to be nosey!

       “ What? Was I not there in your last life?“ ,Oliver was heartbroken , how can he not be in his fated mate’s life. Or the bond was not there . Wait ,he said Edward inherited my company last life, so did I not return to the country  as I was thinking?

       “ You have problem with if we met or not? But no problem believing in rebirth. You are one strange man!”, Jacob was flabbergasted.

    Oliver lost in his thoughts completely ignored his remark.“ Come to my office tomorrow. I may have a solution for you!”

     Jacob bought new clothes before going to Oliver’s office. He had left his home without much and thought he should at least be presenttable while meeting Alex. Otherwise, he may think he is distraught over the engagement. He didn’t want to involve the man in his chaotic life, but somehow Oliver ‘s presence made him feel safe and peaceful. He chalked it up to his problematic gland needing alpha pheromones.

        Oliver did not talk business immediately. He asked if Jacob has eaten. And refused to discuss anything before they both have breakfast. As they ate, he asked more about Alex. If Jacob still liked him, would he like to marry him , if he wanted Oliver to save his engagement All kinds of personal questions. Jacob answered negative to all the questions. Why would I want to marry someone who will destroy me? Suddenly he felt dizzy, as if he was back in that room , plagued by incessant waves of pain and heat coursing through his body looking up at his husband, cold indifferent and untouchable in his superiority!

   “ You will never know, Jacob. If I love you or not? If I care or not… you will always be  mine and yet never be fully secure! This is your punishment.., life long prison of hopeless persuasion.” His cold voice rang in Jacob’s hazy mind, mating mark throbbing in his neck and tears welling up in his eyes. He blinked to push them away but they spilled over his cheek.

    “ Hey. Jacob are you there? “ Oliver’s voice reached him through the haze of his grief. He came back to present.

     “ What happened? You ocay?” The alpha slid a glass of water over to him. “ Why are you crying? Did I say something?”

      Jacob touched his face and sure his cheeks were wet. He wiped his tears and smiled softly.

     “ It’s nothing, just a stupid memory ! “

     “It’s not stupid if it makes you cry!” Oliver looks at the pretty omega’s face changed as the sky clears after rainfall.

     “ I won’t let it happen again . You tell me . You said you have a cure for my pheromone disease?”

     “ Yes. We have a drug developed but it’s in testing stage. You will have to sign a contract first, are you willing to?”

    “ Yeah. It’s not like I have other options. The doctor I consulted said that it is irreversible pheromone disorder. Couldn’t even diagnose the poisoning!”

      “ That’s because he didn’t know what to look for. We are pharmaceutical company specialising in pheromones so it’s easier for our doctor. Don’t worry, you would have met someone who could have diagnosed it clinically. “

      “ No I wouldn’t have. I would have gone in heat next week and ruined my life . Never searching for the cure again .”

     “ What? “

      “ Nothing! So will you give me the medicine for a month or something?”

      “ No that’s what I want to discuss.  Actually it’s in injectable form, our doctor will come daily to give it to you!” , Oliver explained

     “ No need, I can take it myself. I always have taken inhibitors…”, Jacob did have a problem with receiving help.

      “ What ? You take injection for that?” , Oliver looked horrified.

       He didn’t. Not at this point of time. But in his previous life, he had moved from patches and tablets to injections as his heats became unbearable . It was only thing that sustained him him in the hellish marriage he suffered!

       “You need to sign a contract and our team will monitor your symptoms. Is that okay with you? “ , Oliver asked again. Jacob nodded

      “Also, you said you needed a place to stay right? I have a position open.you can come join as my secretary. I am new in the country, so I will need a local input. You have been in elite business class. Here you know many things that employees can never know.. you can move in with me. I will have a guest room prepared for you.” , Finally he said what he was building up to. A way to keep his omega by his side.

      “ why move in? At your place.? I…I don’t want to be a burden ?”

    “ You won’t be. And I really need someone like you by my side for a few days. I can arrange  an apartment for you later?” A flush crept up his neck as he tried to to convince Jacob .

      “ Why do you need me …? Is it your family? Are they pressuring you to get married?  I’m not an ideal choice to fake a relationship you know! “ Oliver watched amused as the omega chatted on his assumptions.

      “ You don’t worry about that. Are you ready for the job?” , He said.

      “ Fine by me.but I will charge extra to fake a relationship! And wait I don’t know how to be a secretary. I have never done any job!” And how he regretted it. He never took his studies seriously nor did he ever tried to learn business. All his life he was pampered by his parents and he was never prepared for the life that was ahead of him. Now that life has given him another chance, he will not waste it.

            “ Don’t worry about it. You will learn!”, the CEO assured him.

            “ I will!” Jacob said, determined. “ So when do I start?”

          “ I will pick you up in the evening. After your meeting with your ex?”

          “Hmmn.”

        So it was settled. Jacob would work as secretary cum assistant to Oliver Turner and help him manage his personal affairs including maintaining a good reputation in elite classes of HanranDei city.

    “ You are supposed to be a business tycoon. Don’t you have any work? “ Jacob asked ,irritated with the man eating nonchalantly. They were seated on a cheap sofa in a lobby of hotel he was staying.

     “ I am the boss. I can take a break. Plus I’m doing my job here.”, Oliver said tossing a peanut in his mouth.

      “ What job? Harassing me?”

     “ Nope. I am collecting information. It’s part of your profile to collect information about key people for me. Alex Reed is important , right? I am coming with you to see him. Don’t worry I will sit away from you, and observe him.”

       “ Are you insane? You sound like a jealous boyfriend tagging along with me! Whatever you want to know about him, I can tell you. No need to follow me there.”, Jacob was getting frustrated and fast!

       “ Hmmn. So you grew up with him! And he was your fiancee for how long ?”

       “ And now he wants to marry my sister. I have already told you! I can tell you more about how he will merge technology with suppressant patches in coming years… just let me go alone. He won’t like me bringing an unknown alpha. Just, let it go.”, Jacob tried to add some information from his memory, just so that he would back off.

      “ so , he is also trying to use technology in biochemical research?”

       “ Not yet. But he will get the idea from Turner Pharma next year! His mole in your company will get him the prototype for him causing your company to lose its edge“

       “ And how do you know that?”

        “ I have lived this life before , I told you! Just let me break up with him today and I can tell you everything, as long as you destroy him.”

       “Destroy ? Why go so far. Why not Just break up and part ways.”, Oliver tilted his head, like a bird listening to the wind.

      “ You say that because you don’t know what he did to me !”

      “ What did he do to you?” Oliver asked, his voice darkened

       “It’s a long story. Just know that I lived miserably because of him and died miserably because of him” Suddenly he had a flash of him trying to get away from the monster. He was writhing with pain on his bed, the heady scent of the  alpha pressing against his lungs. He tried to to push Alex away, his hands weak.

       “ No. I can’t! Go away.” Though he had loved Alex all his life , he could not be the omega that entangled himself with his sisters fiancé. They had an engagement party yesterday for god’s sake.

       “ All these years you never allowed me to touch And now you think you’re above me? Luring me with your scent like this and denying… I told you the engagement is just my parent’s wish. I want you! I have always wanted you!”

        “ You didn’t say that when you got engaged behind my back. You kept the venue secret . You can’t have it both ways, get out!”

        “ Your parents wanted to keep the date and place secret. They did not want you to ruin their image! You have been emotionally volatile after all. Let me help you, I am sure if you get what your body needs , you will be lot calmer. Jenny will be my wife in name only, you can have my love. I promised I would take care of you, didn’t I?”

         “ So I am to be a mistress. I will never be a home wrecker even if it’s to the most despicable person in my life.

         “ Then what are you doing here? Don’t tell me this heat is natural..  we all know that you brought me here with your induced heat. And let’s be honest, nobody’s going to marry an omega discarded by me…” , it felt like Alex was hitting him with something. The alpha who used to care for him, was talking to him like he is trash.

     “I..I don’t … I didn’t induce..” , He hadn’t even thought to eat something after he found out about the engagement from the social media. Nobody posted anything until after the function ended! He was too grief stricken to even confront anyone. So he just locked himself in his room and cried alone. Nobody came to check on him. He felt it was better this way, he didn’t feel like talking to anyone right now. He kept in his room crying sleeping and wishing he could go somewhere else. Somewhere his family would not betray him, somewhere his love would choose him..somewhere he could participate in his sister’s happiness with open heart ! He thought he could at least go and drink with his friends, and realised no one has called him last few days. Off course they were Jenny and Alex’s friends. Dropping defective omega friend was only convenient for them. He saw Jenny updated social media, how ethereal she looked under  chandelier lights and Alex’s loving gaze! Whole internet was talking about the perfect couple, Billionaire heir engaged to heiress of generational wealth! What a match! As he was scrolling through the comments he saw Jenny posting a new post

     They were all in a bar , drinking and having fun. Everyone was there, even Michael! The brother who could not be bothered to come check on him. He saw a boomerang of Sam, his best friend opening Champagne while laughing! Wow , nobody cares about him!

‘ Nobody remembers me, so I will go remind them. Why should I hide’ he thought. Changed into relatively acceptable clothes and rushed out.

       He reached the bar and confronted them. Nobody had answers to his questions. Sam said sorry but he could not tell because Alex had threatened him. Alex shrugged indifferently. And suddenly Jacob laughed.bitter hysterical laughter that slowly dissolved in sobs. As he sat on the floor wailing , completely disregarding his image, Michael dragged him out. Embarrassed Michael forced him to rest room , gave him water and forced him into the car to get back home. Jacob didn’t even realised when he started feeling hot Michael told him to stay in his room.  His heat had came and with such a force!

       And now he was fighting with his instincts to pounce on the alpha in front of him. He could not remember how and why Alex came to his room but he still had some sense to avoid him. But Alex has other ideas. He forced Jacob down again and kissed him. Jacob struggled to get his hands free but he was far weaker than the other. Slowly the heady scent of aroused alpha took over him and he lost the battle. Alex removed his pants halfway down, his t-shirt already ripped off by himself in effort to get rid of the scorching heat coursing through his blood.

       “ You are hard” Alex said, smug at the sight. Jacob didn’t feel hard. He felt only pain  and discomfort from being vulnerable in front of the alpha who was acting so strangely.

      “ You are enjoying this. Just let me take care of you.” Jacob stilled as his legs were forced open. Cool finger entered him without any warning, burning seeking.. he tried to pull away and failed.

      “ hurts. Please… “ he begged.

       “ Shut up and lay down . It would be better soon. If you had allowed me before, you would have been riding my di*k right now. “. Alex was talking as if he was some sort of drunk fool. His language causing Jacob too blush furiously.

     “ It’s my first time, please.. don’t.” Don’t do this , don’t do it like this, don’t do it now… He did not find the right words to save himself that night, nor did he have enough strength to defend himself.

       One moment he was trying to push Alex away and next he was facing heartbroken Jenny who had found them in bed, entangled obscenely. She cried , Michael berated and his family unanimously pushed all the blame on him. He looked at Alex hoping, praying that he would be honest. But the ruthless alpha stayed silent, met his gaze with cruel eyes and left! Jacob stayed silent. What could he say when everyone had allready judged him guilty!

       He felt the suffocating weight lifting from his chest as he breathe in a musky scent soothing , wrapping around him like a protective coat. He looked up and found very concerned Oliver looking at him.

     “ Hey .it’s okay! I’m here now. I will protect you.” He said as he wiped Jacob’s tears with his thumb. Jacob fought the urge to rush into the man’s arms. He just filled himself up with the pheromones which somehow made him feel nice and calm. He slowly went pliant as he fell asleep on the arm of the sofa. Oliver picked him up and took him to his room for a nap.

       Jacob was late. He didn’t wake on time for his meeting with Alex. So for the first time in the history of their relationship, he was late. He calmed himself down and entered the cafe.

Alex looked up from his phone and gestured him to sit down.

       “ I ordered for you. Extra sugar right!”

        Jacob frowned, Alex always seemed disdainful of his food choices.

      “ No thanks. Actually I have something to do later. So let’s just get this over with. What do you want to talk about?”

   Alex was putoff with the cold tone .He was used to Jacob being always cute, adorable or at least polite.

         “ Where are you staying now? Everyone is so worried, you just … vanish? No phone no messages, what’s wrong with you, Jacob?” He exploded.

       Jacob wanted to retaliate. But he pushed his fury down. Took deep  breath and said,

      “ What’s wrong with me? what’s that to you? Are you not going to marry my sister? If you did not get the memo, we are not together anymore!” Jacob’s voice trembled in last part.

       “ See , Jake I know you are hurting. I know I have wronged you. But please try to understand. My family, you know how it is. They are adamant about marriage with Jenny. I promise I only love you, she understands. The wedding is in the name only, I … I will arrange a place for you. We will live together, I will mark you only. “ He was sounding ridiculous and Jacob couldn’t help but ask,

       “ What are you trying to say ?”

       “ That we are not going to break up. We will be together.Just trust me, I will find a way. I’m not sure yet. I have dreamed about marking you all these years and I’m not going to back down. This is just a business marriage after all.”

      “ So you want to keep me on side while being married to my sister! Do you know what would I be called? What my family will think of me ?”

      “ Don’t say it like that. Everybody knows that we love each other. They will accept it eventually!”

      “ But I won’t! I will never be a third person in someone’s marriage. Let alone my sisters “

      “ Come on now. She is the third person in our relationship. And she knows it. You don’t worry , let me handle it “, Alex was speaking desperately, hoping to convince him.

       “ So you will be able to marry me? Will you face your parents and tell them that you can’t marry Jenny ? Because that’s the only way I will be with you. Otherwise let’s end it here “, The omega was firm in his resolve.

       Alex softened his gaze and reached for his hand which Jacob pulled back. “ Come on Baby. You know I can’t. Just stop this tantrum and go home okay. I will make everything better after this weekend. Just trust me “

      “ you will be engaged to Jenny by that time. And I won’t be waiting for you to grow a pair. So save me some time and go get lost from my life.”

      “ And then what? Where will you go? Nobody is going to be mating with a defective omega like you!”

      Jacob was used  to these jabs, he had faced a lifetime of criticism for his disorder. Still it stung a little when he heard it again.

      “ I.. I don’t mean it like that that” Alex tried to do damage control.

      “ It’s true , it’s fine! “ Jacob cut him off. “ And I am fine being alone. Just don’t try to make it worse for me. Please. I will come to your engagement if you want, give my blessing but just stay away from me okay”

       “ Jake. listen to me. You are misunderstanding. I’m a coward . I agree. But I will speak to Jenny, she will understand. We can divorce after some time. I will make sure that you don’t suffer. Just don’t break up with me!”

       The more he spoke, more crazy he sounded. Jacob got up to leave.

     “Listen Jake, just give me me some time. A week. I will make it right okay “

      Jakob left, shocked to the core. He rushed out without looking back, and felt thankful when he spotted a familier black car .

      “ What the heck “ he said as he slid into passenger seat. Oliver raised his his eyebrows.

      “ He is gone mad. He wants to keep me as a mistress “ Jacob shuddered.

      “ And he wants to mark me, like I am some kind of..  He dares to think I will accept! Let him try, this time I am going to knock his teeth out. Watch me. How dares he, that stupid Jenny is pining after him since highschool, off course she is going to marry him even if she has to climb up on my corpse. But that stupid alpha, he can’t even figure out which one of us he loves! I want go back and knock some sense into him, but every time I see him I get so scared . All I think of is the night when he took advantage of me… ughh!”

      Suddenly car was filled with thick musky scent, he felt a wave of calm wash over him. His flailing hands settled on his lap, eyes closing as he inhaled. Eyelashes fanning over his cheeks like trembling feathers

“umm..”  he tried to say something but failed.

      “ Hey, do you want to get ice-cream?” Oliver asked.

      “ Hmmn. Is there chocolate-chip cookie dough?

     “ Yes. Let’s go!”
