Jay's POV

10:04 am

.........

.........

'It's hard to see and breathe in here...'

Here I was, searching for the little girl in the bright flames and smoke. I'm sure I'm on the right floor. I keep low to the ground. Trying not to breathe in the fumes.

'Where is she?' I thought as some debris, falls to my left side. Whatever super hearing I had a few minutes ago is failing me now, the roar and crackling of fire is all around me.

'I have to find her quickly!' I began to panic, trying so hard to look through all of the grey smoke and heated flames. But then I heard it, a noise, coming from a room down the hall on my right.

'She's there!' I run, reaching the door I could hear her crying, whimpering, I try to open the door, but of course it was stuck, I quickly got frustrated and simply kicked it down, it works, there I see her. A small 6 year old girl huddled in the corner of the small and blank room with a light pink blanket covering her, she looked terrified with tears streaming down her small face.

"Um.." I had no idea what to do, I've never saved anyone before. What if she's afraid of me? What if I hurt her? How do we both get out of here? What do I do if I make a mistake? What do I do?...What do I do......What do I...-

"Sniff" I look up and saw the shaking girl still sitting there, she looks so scared, I couldn't but feel the need to comfort her. So I went over to her and crouch down to her level.

"Hey there.." Ah..how do i do this? The girl stares up at me with her big watery doe eyes that kind of reminded me of my own little sister back at home. An old but familar protective feeling rises up.

"Lets get you out of here"

As gently as I could I scoop her up in my arms and scan for a way out. All possible ways of exiting were blocked or covered in hot, seething flames.

'Where do I go?'

'must use...'

I blinked in confusion, use what??? Whatever this voice was, subconsious or delusion, it doesn't give out full sentences, just vague crypic riddles. I think back to the times it spoke to me, like when was in danger, or it seemed to push me to keep going. Or...could it be referring to....my escape?? Those memories are scattered, pictures with holes in them, but, I can recollect some things....  I glance to my hands, then up at a doorway blocked by fallen debris .  Could I....

'If I can break that down, that should lead me into a hallway, where I can find the way I came in or find another fire escape'

I think back to how I got in, if I remember it correctly, I could get out of here.

'Can I do that??? is it possible??

If I'm wrong and it doesn't work, it could lead to an even bigger disaster. I don't want to think about what would happen since the last time I -------------------... I flinched at the cold, foggy flashbacks that still frieghtens me. What I did...... back then....was out of fear and desperation. I'm not even sure if it was REAL. I'm not certain of anything. I'm still hoping this is all a horrible dream. That what I went through was just all in my own head.

'I don't know what I'm doing'

'trust...

'ones...

'strength...'

...............

I have two choices here, either I risk causing much more destruction that could lead to more people possibly being hurt, or I risk the life of this small, young girl. Neither is ideal. And I'm running out of time.

"I-"

The small, quivering voice stops my thoughts, I look down at her.

"I-I'm.."

Her big, innocent eyes stare directly into mine, her lower lip trembling non stop.

"I'm scared" She says to me in the most shakiness, terrified tone a child should never use.

And in that moment, I immediately knew my decision.

'I have to save her'

Third POV

Down on the ground, multiple people had no idea what was going on. The woman of the young couple was screaming at the fire fighters asking 'why they weren't running in there?', 'why weren't they getting her daughter?',  all while being held back by her husband who appeared to be struggling with letting her go or holding himself back. The fire fighters gave her no answer, at least not one she have have liked, they at least had the decency to look away or downwards in shame and guilt. Nobody at all expected to hear a loud bang inside the burning building. The sound itself was booming and thunderous. Like a bomb had gone off.

Everyone looked up, wondering or hoping it came from a well known super hero they all love and adore. What they all saw was also not what they had expected. On the side of the ignited building, came a running figure seemingly dressed in all black, scurrying down on the escape ladder. Very quickly and alerted, the men in their protective uniforms rushed over, this mysterious being was now almost to the ground had a clearer image. This person was very pale, young looking, had a black hood covering their face, but what was more evident was the child wrapped in a pale, pink blanket secured in their arms.

Seeing this, the parents hurry towards of what they desperately hoped was their daughter. The hooded individual carefully jumps and lands safely on the ground, one male fire fighter steps up and walks closer, said hooded being doesn't look up, they keep their head down as they gently pass over the 6 year old to his already waiting arms. The man briskly checks her for any sign of injuries, he relaxes relieved he finds none, and by the time the man gazes up, the peculiar stranger is no where to be seen.

To be continued....

AANNND that's all folks! Until next time!! Hopefully I'll see you all around!
