Chapter Text

Swimming near the shore at night, you sit on a rock, hiding your tail from the view of your next victim, you look around for any dumb person remaining, you catch a few silhouettes there

Perfect

You start singing, noone can say no to a sirens song

You'll be ok with one of them hearing you, that's enough honestly

You see one of the shadowy figures turn its head toward you, probably searching for the source

You just need them to get a bit closer for the magic in your voice to start affecting them

this is stupid, why are they still at the beach at this hour?!

The only reason sans stayed is because papyrus did

Ugh…

He just watches everyone do stupid shit when he hears… singing

Who the hell is singing at this hour?

He looks at the source, it's coming from the sea, he can see a figure sitting on a rock

An idiot thinking they're some tough shit probably

“WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT, BROTHER?”

Looking at his brother who is finally gathering their things, he just shrugs

“The source of the song”

“SONG?”

“Yeah?” He raises an eyebrow, can't he hear it? Sans must admit, the singing sounds amazing

Papyrus frowns “YOU'RE LOSING IT BROTHER” he shakes his head, carrying the basket he's holding to the car

What? What is that supposed to mean?

Sans glances at the figure again

He's not hearing things if that's what papyrus thought, thank you

…

Ugh fine

He'll check

He starts walking toward the source, maybe he can throw some fun at the person singing too, what do they think they are? A siren?

The figure seems to be talking with the others before walking a bit closer

You can't stop the grin that appears on your face before you focus on singing again

The figure comes closer and closer

Good

The person reaches the edge of the sea, right when the water meets the beach

That's a good enough distance probably gonna fall right into trap now

The singing sounds… wow… the closer he gets, the more beautiful it sounds, he doesn't even notice when he walks into the water…

The person finally gets into the water, yes!

Wait a sec- that's a monster! Uggghhh, god damn it, monsters turn to dust when they die, you can't eat them

Yeah, just your luck

The moonlight finally reveals the persons face and

…

Wow… he looks… how can a monster look so gorgeous?...

You're too distracted by the realization and his face to notice you've stopped singing causing the person to break out of his trance and look at you in confusion

What the- when did he get in the water?! Ugh his shoes are ruined, he's wet, and now he's gonna have a- wait a- is that… a… tail? Is this woman seriously pretending to be a mermaid or siren?

He stares at the woman's tail in confusion

But… it looks too real to be a custom…

you finally come to your senses when the man's eyesockets widen and he looks you in the eyes

His single red eyelight locking into your eyes

Time seems to stop for you

He's… beautiful… his one golden sharp tooth is shining in the moonlight, his glowing eyelight shining a red hue and lighting up his face a bit more in the dark, his features are so harmonious

The person takes a step back

You just stare at him, lost in your own thoughts

Before he makes a beeline for the shore

You snap out of it and jump forward, trying to catch him but he's running fast

“Wait!” You call after him but he keeps running, you try to swim towards him but he's out of the water before you can catch up

You just stay there with a hand reaching out, staring at his back as shadows swallow his figure

“Come back…” you mutter but he's already gone

Sans runs to his brother and the others who seem to be waiting for him by the car

“FINALLY! WHERE HAVE YOU-”

“Siren!” Sans says, pointing at the sea “there's a siren!”

He didn't even think they existed!

“A what now?” Undyne asks, cocking up an eyebrow, looking just a bit mocking

“A siren! A goddamn, fucking siren! It- i-”

“WHAT'S SO AMAZING ABOUT A SIREN? IT'S JUST SOME PIECE OF METAL”

“Wha- no! A SIREN! like the women that sing!”

“DID YOU… FALL ASLEEP OR SOMETHING?”

“What?! No i didn't! Don't you believe me?! There's a siren in the sea!”

Papyrus sighs

“BROTHER, THIS ISN’T THE TIME FOR PRANKS, IT'S LATE, LET'S GO HOME”

“why aren't yall believing me?!”

“A siren? Fine, let's go see” undyne starts walking to the sea before sans catches her wrist

“No! Are you crazy?! Then it'll lure you in and kill you!”

“You sure you're not trying to mess with us?” Undyne says, laughing

Sans grits his teeth, why aren't they believing him?!

“LET'S JUST GO HOME” everyone agrees with him and they start walking away towards the cars

Sans glances at the sea again

“SANS!”

Fuck…

Sans can't stop thinking about what happened that day, noone believes him no matter how many times he tells them about it

They've been gaslighting him to believe he has dreamed it! And maybe he has…

No no, he knows what he saw!

But…

Ugh… this is so dumb, such a dumb decision, but…

He'll go check… he can't help it… he needs to see for himself, he's been going crazy!

So he takes a flashlight and goes to that beach again

What will he do once he has found her?... he doesn't know

You've been going back to the beach every night, in hopes of seeing that man again 

You sit on a rock, looking at the beach, searching with your eyes for any signs of him, when you see the light of a flashlight Searching around, you hide behind the rock, looking at the person

Their face is covered by shadows so you can't see much, what you can see is a light

A red, glowing pinprick

Your expression turns hopeful as you come out of hiding

The flashlight falls on you after a little

Oh shit… ok… here it is… he found it, he found the siren, now what?

Should he even risk getting closer?

What is she? Maybe just… an actor? Or a crazy person thinking she's a siren?

…

Sigh, dang it

He walks closer, and for some reason, the supposed siren swims closer too, but her body is not showing, just a part of her face

The two stare at each other

He's back! He's back! It's him!

You stare at eachother

“Uh… you're an actor or something?...” his voice… god his voice… it sounds amazing…

You just keep staring at him

He looks around awkwardly

“Look I just… why are you in the sea at this hour?”

You were waiting for him

You swim a bit closer but he takes a startled step back

You stop but then swim closer again, with the next step back, his leg gets caught to a rock and he falls flat on his ass on the shore

You crawl a bit into the shore, closer to him

He looks even more beautiful up close…

You two stare at eachother in silence, him sitting there, you on your hands, close to him

His eyes move to your tail

“that uh… that custom looks very realistic...”

“It's… not a custom” you finally talk to him

He thinks you're a human, doesn't he?

“But… then… what?” he seems hesitant

“It's my tail…”

“You're… seriously a siren?” You nod, making his eyesockets widen further “why aren't you trying to kill me?” 

Cause he's beautiful… too beautiful to kill

but you can't tell him that, that would be weird, right? Humans and monsters are different from sirens, right?

Wait, you haven't thought of it before, would a monster like a siren?...

He examins your face

“So… you won't try to kill me...?” he asks after a while

“No…” of course you won’t, just look at him! He has to be the most beautiful man you've ever seen… he makes your chest feel weird, makes you want to wiggle your tail, makes you want to go with him…

“Ok… that's… that's a start” he sits more straight, making you have to look up at him

“Why were you singing that day?...” he'll find it weird if you tell him the truth… maybe he'll leave and never come back! “Do you… really eat people?”

“No!” Well… that's a lie… “well… not monsters…” you tried once, but they turned to dust so not really food material

“So… you wanted to lure in a human” he states more than ask

You nod in response 

“At least… that's something…” his eyeslight glances at your tail

“I didn't think sirens existed…noone believed me either…” he hesitately stands up, walking beside you and crouching down, looking at your tail, obviously curious and amazed

He raises a hand before hesitating

“Can i…?”

He wants to touch?

You nod, why not?

He runs a finger on your tail, feeling the scales, he seems lost as he examines it

That's when you hear a sound

Your head snaps towards the source, there's a shadowy figure walking towards you

You quickly go back to the water, startling the skeleton, you swim away, hiding behind a rock

“Wait!” sans says but you're already gone, why did you get so startled all of the sudden?

“SANS! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE THIS LATE?!” Papyrus's voice reaches him

Oh, so that's why

Sans looks at his brother who comes to a stop beside him

“How did you know i was here?”

“YOU LEFT YOUR LOCATION ON” he crosses his arms “YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW WORRIED I GOT WHEN I SAW YOU WEREN'T HOME?!”

sans stands up

“I just came to check something…” he looks at the sea again

“IS IT ABOUT THAT ‘SIREN’? COME ON BROTHER! YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS!”

but he just saw you, and if he had even an ounce of doubt, his wet fingers that just touched your tail give him reassurance

Will papyrus believe him?

“I know what i saw…”

“PLEASE SANS, JUST STOP, LETS GO BACK HOME"

sans nods after a few more seconds of staring at the sea

“I'll come after you in a few seconds” papyrus sighs but starts walking away

When he's a bit further, you bring your head up from behind the rock, looking at him

He glances at his brothers retrieving figure before at you

He hesitantly waves, you wave at him slowly and he starts walking away

He'll come back to pay a visit for sure, a SIREN! He didn't even know those existed, he thought they were just old myths but here there is one!

His curiosity won't let him stay away

You watch him go, a sad expression on your face

You hope he'll come back…

You go to the beach every night, waiting for hours in hopes that he'll come back, but he doesn't

You wait and wait

And finally, when you're losing hope, he does

You smile widely as you see him approaching

You quickly swim to the edge of the water and look at him

“Hey… me again…” he says, looking a bit awkward

He shouldn't, you're really happy he's here

He looks behind him at a few figures

“Others wouldn't believe me when I say I've seen you… can't really come here much or they'll say I'm crazy” he seems just a bit angry about that “why did you run away the last time?” He tilts his head

“People… kill or capture us… so we don't show ourselves much”

“But we didn't even know yall exist”

“I told you, we don't show ourselves”

“Then… why did you show yourself to me?”

You can feel yourself blushing slightly

“I like you”

He seems surprised

“Like me?”

You nod

“Huh…” he sits at the edge of the water “so, what's your name?” He took your confession so easily… hm… 

“Y/n”

“Mine’s sans”

Sans… you like it

“I like your name” you say, swimming a bit closer

“Thanks, yours is really nice as well”

You get a bit out of the water, just a bit, your tail is still inside but your upper body is on the sand

He suddenly averts his eyelight, a faint red glow spreading across his cheeks

“Uh… you… don't wear clothes?”

You tilt your head, looking down, oh right, you've seen humans and monsters wearing something to cover their chests

“We don't really wear anything”

“I see” he still averts his gaze “that was my brother that day… i don't think he'd really… capture you” you tilt your head, he obviously wants to get at something “would you… be comfortable if he saw you?”

…

if he wants… you guess you wouldn't have a problem… it would be dangerous but…

“Or maybe not…” he says “maybe he WOULD do something dumb…” he thinks “guess that's out of question”

Sigh, nice

You hear footsteps, you look at the source, startled

You slowly get back into the water, sans glances at the source as well

“Guess you should go?” he looks at you “see you later?”

Later?! Yes yes!

You nod before swimming away, a big smile on your face

You'll see him again!

You think he didn't really understand what you meant when you said you liked him… maybe you should have said love? No, that would be weird for monsters, You've heard they don't just say this type of thing like that…

Ok. You'll give him a fish then! Giving food means you want to share a part of your life with them, that's how sirens tell eachother that they like eachother, humans and monsters must do that too, right?

You search around, finding the biggest fish you can and catch it, waiting each night for him patiently, he said he would see you again, he wouldn't lie

You would catch him a human, the bigger the food, the better

But monsters don't eat humans so that's out of question, plus, what if he sees you as a danger and never comes again?

You just have to wait

Sans goes through his life, but the thought of that siren stays in his head

He really wants to get to know more about her but he can't go to the beach too much, then everyone will become suspicious 

Probably will start questioning him, and they won't believe him either

He can't show you to them, what if they seriously decide to do something dumb? Call authorities?

When has he become so soft? Ugh

He is aching to come see you again, he'll try somehow convincing everyone to go to the beach again

Waiting… waiting… and finally he comes again, but he's not alone, there's a human child with him, the two are talking

You watch him from the sea

Suddenly, a fish looking monster runs towards the two

“Let's swim!” She says, pushing the two to the water before jumping in herself

You stay hidden

“Damn it undyne!” Sans says angrily, making his fish friend laugh, the child giggles as well

Sans looks annoyed before his eyelight lands on you

“do whatever you want” he rolls his eyelight and starts walking towards you

You grip the fish you've caught tighter, waiting for him to reach you

“Ok, loser!” The fish says, playing around with the child, she's amazing at swimming, pretty quick

Sans reaches you

You take his hand, startling him slightly, and start pulling him away, somewhere noone will see

He hesitantly follows, when you're further from the others you let go of his hand and hold the fish out for him

“Uh…” he looks at it

“For you” you say

“Uh… thanks?” He takes it hesitantly

Didn't it work? Or he doesn't like you?...

“Sans!” The fish monster is swimming towards you two, sans jumps slightly

before you can run away, she has already seen you

“Who's that?” She asks, still approaching

Too late to run… should you… drown her? But she's sans's friend, will he be sad… mad if you did that?

“You found a friend?” she asks

“Uh… yeah” sans says, a red droplet forming on his forehead as he takes half a step so that he's standing slightly infront of you, should you just run? Or should you stay? And trust him?...

“Why are you still in the water this late?” She raises an eyebrow “there's noone else on the beach”

“I like to swim…” you say quietly, keeping most of your body hidden

“Let's go to the others” sans says, the fish's eye lands on the fish sans is still holding

“You caught a fish?”

“Uh… kinda?” Sans seems to be getting slightly uncomfortable

“cool” she then looks at you “also, why are you so deep in the water?” She tilts her head

“Leave her be, she's comfortable like this” sans says

He's protecting you, he didn't tell her about you being a siren, and he is now trying to get the attention off of you

That makes glee form in your chest

Ok, maybe you should help him, he can't take away the fish monster alone it seem and she seems insistent, you need to convince her everything is ok so that she'll leave

You have an idea how

you haven't tried shape-shifting to a human before, but you know that sirens can do that

“Are you hiding something?” The fish asks taking a step closer

You try, concentrating, you can feel your tail shifting, your webbed fingers also start changing, you'll try

Both for him and yourself

“What would i be hiding?!” Sans asks defensively

The fish looks at you two suspiciously 

When you feel your tail completely turn into legs, you stand straight, wobbling slightly and falling, sans catches you before you can fall

Sans's eyesockets widen as he looks at you before he blushes, averting his gaze

The fish monsters eyes also widen

“Oh! Something happened to your clothes?” Clothes? You look down at your naked form before nodding

“We have brought blankets, that should help at least, come on!” she takes your hand, pulling you after her, you fall though

You're really not used to walking or legs in general

She looks at you in confusion

“Oh, you must have tired yourself out in the water”

She picks you up bridal style, making your heart jump, is she going to capture you?!

“What are you doing?!” Sans asks, still averting his gaze

“Helping her to the shore, there we can give her something to wear” she starts walking towards the beach, you tense up in fear and look at sans from over her shoulders with worry written on your face

“Let me do it” sans walks towards you, wanting to take you

“Hell no! You're a man!”

“Ugh” he groans before looking at you reassuringly

Ok… he has things under control… right?

Yall finally reach the beach, she walks to a group of monsters, sans and the human child from before following making them look at you in confusion

She puts you down on a blanket

“something has happened to her clothes” the fish monster says, searching around in a bag and holding out some clothes for you

You look at them a bit before taking them

“Thank you…” you say quietly

Sans sighs before crouching next to you

“Let me help you-” the fish monster pushes him away 

“You're a man!”

“Ugh, undyne!” Sans calls angrily

Undyne is her name then, this is the second time sans called her that

She crouches down next to you and takes the clothes, putting them on you

You just sit there silently, this is not how you thought things would go

Others watch you as well with curiosity

There are multiple monsters, you can't tell what they look like… two have white fur and horns, one is yellow, and one is a skeleton, must be sans's brother

“Can you stand up now?” Undyne asks

“I don't know…”

Sans comes beside you again, taking your arm and gently helping you to your feet, you still wobble but he doesn't let go, supporting you

“She can't go home like this” one of the white monsters says

“Yall go back. I'll help her to her home” sans says

“You're a-” undyne starts but sans cuts him off

“If you say that one more time” sans grumbles

“but maybe she's not comfortable with a man taking her home!”

“Uh… no i don't mind…”

“Are you sure?” One of the white monsters, the female one asks

You nod

“ARE YOU SURE YOU CAN DO IT ALONE? I CAN HELP” sans's brother offers

"No, it's fine, I can do it”

“Ok then”

“can you take this home with you?” sans hands the fish you've got him to his brother making him look confused

“WHAT'S THIS?”

“a fish” he answers simply, his brother looks annoyed

The others leave and sans guides you back to the sea

“You can turn into a human?” he asks as you walk slowly

“I haven't tried before but yeah… we sirens can do that”

“Can you help me take these off?” 

A glow appears on his cheeks again but he nods and helps you take the clothes off before helping you into the sea, you concentrate and shift back, your legs turning into a tail

Yeah, that's more like it, you feel more comfortable like this

“uh… sorry for the trouble” he scratches the back of his neck

“No… thanks for helping” he could sell you out but he didn't

“I didn't really do anything though… i just got the problem that i caused myself away”

Still

“Anyways, I'll have to get going, I'll see you later”

You wave at him as he goes

Even his silhouette looks pretty…

Chapter Text

From then on, you wait every night and he keeps visiting you, you two talk a bit about different things

He doesn't mention your proposition of a relationship aka the fish, maybe he doesn't like you back? But then why does he keep coming back? Maybe you thought wrong, maybe monsters don't give eachother food as a confession?

Maybe you should just tell him? But you're not familiar with monster culture, how do they tell eachother they like one another? What if you accidentally offend him?

Tonight, he visits again and like always, you're waiting for him

“Hello” he greets you

“Hello!” you answer with a smile

He's holding a basket in his hand

“How have you been?” He asks, sitting down 

"Good”

He opens the basket and brings out a sandwich, holding it out for you

Is he- confessing to you?!

You look at the sandwich with wide eyes

Ok, remember, maybe monsters have a different culture?

“What is that for?...” you ask

“Just thought maybe you'd like one” oh, So that's it… kinda disappointing

“Thank you…” you move, sitting on the shore, your tail still in the water, and take the sandwich, honestly, you've never eaten one, you've just heard and seen people on the beach eat them

Actually, there's a chance you can't eat human/monster food… but maybe not, they eat fish too and you're ok with eating it so maybe a shared food means you CAN eat the same thing

You smell it before taking a bite

It's delicious! 

And after swallowing you don't feel any discomfort!

Sans takes out a sandwich himself and starts eating it

You two sit there, eating and talking, as time passes he bring more food out, fruits and different things, they're all very delicious!

Until you hear a noise and he brings out the thing you've heard people call ‘phone’

You peek at it curiously, there's something written on it, but you can't read

“What does that mean?” you ask, making him look at you in surprise

“can't you read?” 

You shake your head

“Oh… right, how would a siren know that? Better yet, WHY would a siren need to know that? It says papyrus, that's my brothers name”

Oooh

He answers the phone, you can hear the voice from the other side but can't make out what it's saying

“hello… just chilling… no I'm not at grillbys… ok ok, I'll be home in 20 minutes… ok… bye” he ends the call

It was always really fascinating to you how they could talk with eachother with those small devices even if they're far away

“Well, i guess we still have 20 minutes then”

“Do you live near?”

“Kinda, but i can just take a shortcut”

“Shortcut?”

He suddenly pops out of existence! You blink and he's not there anymore, you frown and your eyes widen before he reappears on your other side, making you jump

“Yep, shortcut”

Magic…

“Wow” you look at him in awe

“It's really nothing though” he shrugs

“That's really cool”

He chuckles

“You know what, would you like to learn how to read?”

Read?... honestly that sounds nice

So you nod

“Next time, I'll bring a book and i can teach you how to read”

He's so nice!

“Thank you”

“No problem” he looks at his phone “ugh, dang it, seems like it's time to go” he stands up, wiping the sand off of his clothes, and picking up his basket “see you” he waves and starts walking away

“Bye bye!” You wave as he goes

Sighing and watching him go with an almost dreamy look on your face

He's so amazing

Next time he visits, he does as promised, bringing a book and teaching you how to read, he even brings a notebook and pencil to teach you how to write

It's really hard at first, but you slowly start getting better, he teaches you how to hold a pencil and how to write each letter, before teaching you how to write words

The more time that passes, the more he teaches you

He's an amazing teacher

He brings something with him each time he visits, food, books and other things

You really love his visits, best times of the week

After reading a few books with him, you think you have kind of understood their culture

It seems that they do this thing called ‘dating’, that is after they confess their love for eachother, which they think is a very special occurrence, most of the time presenting eachother with flowers and food while doing so

They like telling eachother sweet words and lots of declarations of love

You have to try that it seems

It's been suspicious, whenever sans isn't home, papyrus would think he's at grillbys, but recently, when he goes to grillbys to find him, sans isn't there, but he still leaves the house at nights, coming back hours later, and he turns off his location

Should papyrus be worried? Probably

Is he worried? Absolutely

What should he do? Should he folloe his brother? Ask where he goes? Let him be cause he's an adult and probably knows what he's doing? 

Ugh, it's been eating at him, he's really worried about his older brother

He disappears at nights, coming back home hours later, and for some reason he has books with him

WHAT IS HE DOING?!

This can't go on

it's wrong

He knows it's wrong, but he's curious and concerned, so he will do it

He will follow his brother

That didn't work, he takes shortcuts to wherever he goes…

This is oh SO wrong…

“You w-want a tracker?” alphys asks, tilting her head in confusion and curiosity

Papyrus nods

“I WANT IT TO BE EXTRA SMALL, AND THAT CAN BE CONNECTED TO CLOTHES”

“i think i have s-something that would come in handy for y-you, who do you want to t-track eitherway?”

Papyrus narrows his eyesockets

“If I'm gonna give you m-my device, at least i deserve to know w-why it's being used, right?”

Ugh… fine

“MY BROTHER”

Alphys looks at him with surprise

“S-sans?”

“DO I HAVE ANY OTHER BROTHERS?” He crosses his arms

“I-im just lost on why y-you would want to track y-your brother”

“HE'S BEEN ACTING… WEIRD, I NEED TO KNOW”

“I s-see” alphys opens a drawer and beings out a small device with a phone-like thing “a-all youhave to do is connect this to h-his clothes, then just p-press this button, and the monitor will show his whereabouts” papyrus takes the device, examining it

“THANK YOU”

Papyrus has snuck the tracker on sans's jacket, and tonight, sans left once again

It's time

He presses the button and- is he at the beach? Why does he keep going there?...

Ok, it's time he puts an end to this

He goes to the beach, and sees his brother's silhouette sitting at the edge of the water, he silently approaches him

Wait a second, he's not alone…

He keeps creeping closer, being as silent as he can

When he's close enough, he can see there's a person beside him, laying on the sand, a… woman?... she seems to be writing something on a notebook

“SO THIS IS WHAT HAS BEEN GOING ON?” A woman? Why hasn't he just told papyrus? Why so much secrecy?

The two jump, looking at him as he walks closer

Wait a second- why is- why does the womans… legs look like that? Almost…

The woman seems startled as she quickly goes in the water, swimming away with an alarming speed, even undyne can't swim that quickly, now let alone a human…

Papyrus frowns as he looks at the woman that goes and hides behind a rock

“What- what are you doing here?” Sans asks, looking surprise and maybe a little angry

“I… WAS WORRIED ABOUT YOU BUT…” he can't get the woman out of his head, your… body looked weird… and you had… this aura about you…

His eyelights wander toward where you went, where you're peeking from behind a rock at them, you hide the moment he looks

“Uh… let's go home” sans tries to act casual, but papyrus knows him better than this, he's a bit uneasy

“NO, WHO IS THAT AND WHY… IS SHE HIDING?”

“She's shy?” A drop of sweat appears on sans's forehead

“WHY ARE YOU HERE, IN THE DEAD OF THE NIGHT, WITH A WOMAN AT THE BEACH?” he looks down at the notebook you were writing on, seeing random words with a handwriting that almost looks like the person has recently started actually writing

“What? Can't i find a friend?”

“BROTHER, PLEASE, JUST BE HONEST WITH ME FOR ONCE”

Sans looks aside

“Will you promise not to do something dumb?”

“SOMETHING DUMB?”

“CAN YOU BE SERIOUS?!” He thought he was finally gonna hear the truth, but this?! Ugh

Sans sighs before looking at you

“Y/n… can you… come a bit closer? Please?” you peek out from behind the rock before hesitantly swimming closer, half of your face hidden under the water

You glance once at sans before swimming closer almost on the beach, the waves go back, revealing… a tail, beautiful, colorful scales shining under the moonlight

Papyrus's eyesockets widen as he takes a step back

This looks TOO real to be a joke

“Yeah… i know… sirens… what a surprise” sans says awkwardly

“THAT…” wait a second… she looks… familiar…

!

That's the woman undyne helped a few months ago!

“Remember, you promised not to do anything stupid” sans reminds him

“YOU'RE TELLING ME… SIRENS ARE REAL?”

“Yep”

“AND YOU'VE BEEN SPENDING YOUR TIME WITH ONE?”

“Yep”

Papyrus keeps staring at you a bit more

“WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?!”

“Cause she didn't feel comfortable with that, and, there was a chance you'd call the authorities”

“OF COURSE I'D CALL THE AUTHORITIES! SIRENS EAT PEOPLE! WHAT IF IT ATE YOU?!”

“she doesn't eat monsters”

“THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT BETTER!”

“See why i didn't tell you? Also, remember, you promised not to call the authorities, so-”

“WHY SHOULDN'T WE?! THIS IS A NEW SPECIES!”

“We were too, how would you feel if someone was to capture and experiment on you?”

That… didn't cross his mind…

Yes… they would probably capture and torture you…

Papyrus grips his nasal ridge

Ok, he needs some time getting accustomed to this…

Ok calm down papyrus, calm down

“I SPECIFICALLY REMEMBER IT HAD LEGS” papyrus says after a while, looking at his brother

“shape-shifting” sans says simply, crouching down next to you “you didn't get hurt, did you?”

You shake your head

You're too civil for someone who eats people…

“Well, her name is y/n, and y/n, you already know my brother, papyrus”

You look up at him, obviously not really trusting him fully, then why are you here? Just cause sans told you?

“WHAT DO YOU PLAN ON DOING WITH IT THEN?”

“First off, stop calling her an ‘it’, second, nothing? What do you expect me to do? she lives her life, i live mine”

“YOU'RE OK WITH SOMEONE GOING AROUND AND EATING PEOPLE?”

“that's her food, what else is she supposed to do? plus, she hasn't really eaten one in the time I've known her”

“WHICH IS HOW LONG, EXACTLY?”

“7 months”

He hid this for seven months?!

“She can eat normal food and fish”

“LET'S JUST GO HOME” this whole situation is mentally tiring

“But you said you'd stay for 3 hours! there's still time left!” You say suddenly, looking at sans with worry which surprises papyrus, why are you so afraid of sans leaving?

Also, wow, your voice sounds… alluring… so that's what they mean…

“Well, i can't go back on my word” sans takes a seat on the sand and you seem to calm down

“WHAT DO YOU EVEN DO?!”

“I teach her how to read and write”

Surprised yet again, papyrus glances at the notebook again

This explains why sans leaves with books…

You slowly crawl a bit closer to sans, since you can't really walk

Papyrus has no way but to do the same

He can't just leave! For obvious reasons! And if he's gonna stay, he can't just stand there awkwardly

So he slowly takes a seat as well, examining you

He must admit, he's intrigued, this is a siren for gods sake! He has never seen one! He didn't even know there were any!

“HOW… DID YOU EVEN SEE HER?”

“I heard her sing”

What?!

“SHE WANTED TO HUNT YOU?!”

“Well not me… she wanted to hunt a human, i got closer and well… when i came to my senses i was actually pretty far from the beach but… anyhow, i did tell you, yall just didn't believe me”

“I DIDN'T THINK THEY ACTUALLY EXIST!”

“To be fair, i didn't either” sans looks down at you

You're silently looking between the two, obviously a bit uneasy and uncomfortable

Not used to papyrus's presence

He must admit, you're beautiful

Both face wise and body, even your tail has a beauty to it

Some parts of your body also has scales on it, like a bit of your hands and arms

Your fingers are webbed like undynes, and you have what can only be described as claws, just like a monster… maybe you're not too different from them…

Papyrus just sits there as sans reads you a book, you just listen while looking at him

Papyrus honestly still doesn't know what to think, part of him wants this to be a dream but it's… a little too real

Papyrus, as promised, didn't call the authorities

Which sans is thankful for

Sans still visits you and it's easier now that he doesn't have to hide things from his brother which he lives with

Even though when he found out papyrus has put a tracker on him, the younger brother had to go through a whole lecture which sans doesn't usually give but it's in the past now

It's fun spending time with you, you're a fast learner too, so teaching you isn't annoying or anything either

Sans is no teacher but he enjoys teaching you, the way your eyes light up when you read something correctly and he encourages you is honestly adorable, or the way you look while concentrating on writing

He also couldn't help but find it extremely funny at first when you tried to hold the pencil

But you've come a long way

Papyrus sometimes tags along, he's obviously just as intrigued as sans was at the beginning 

At times, you and sans, and sometimes papyrus too, watch movies on sans's phone

You ask some questions, obviously not knowing much about human and monster culture

Recently he's been thinking… what if he took you out sometime? You can turn into a human, you can blend in easily, so why not? You seem pretty curious about humans and monsters and the life on land

“Hey y/n?”

“Yes?” You look at him with those beautiful eyes, looking curious about what he wants to say 

“Would you want to… come out of the water some time? I could take you to the city, you could look around a bit”

You look surprised but obviously intrigued

“I… can't really walk though”

“I can teach you before we go”

“Teach me?...” you think about it a bit before nodding

“I would love to!”

So from then, sans brings a blanket with himself, you don't seem to like clothes much, but he still can't let you walk around naked, you may not have a problem with it but it's… embarrassing for obvious reasons

You wrap it around yourself as he helps you walk

After one time that papyrus tags along for a visit and finds out about sans's plan, he first berates him, but after a few visits, he seems to change his mind and actually like the idea, since he also starts helping you with walking

You and papyrus seem to be getting comfortable with one another

After you can stand and walk a bit, sans stands a bit further from you, encouraging you to walk towards him, you stumble many times but finally get it right, then he adds to the distance, again and again, it's almost like teaching a child how to walk

Papyrus teaches you about everyday things, how to start a conversation, how to introduce yourself and greet people

It takes a lot of the brothers times, the visits become more common and papyrus joins you two more often, but the two obviously enjoy it

It takes a while but you finally can walk normally, sometimes stumbling but still somewhat normal, almsot like you're just a clumsy person

Ok, you're ready

One time when the brothers visit, they have a bag with them which they bring out clothes from it

“Ok, since we can't come get you during the day, we will take you to our home now, then in the morning, we'll go out, what do you think?”

Ok… you've been mentally preparing yourself since sans brought the idea up, calm down, it'll be fun

You nod and go out of the water, slowly standing up, the two avert their gazes from your body, but still help you a bit with wearing the clothes

“It was so awkward buying The underwear” sans says jokingly, papyrus nods in agreement

“Why?”

“Well you know, buying underwear for a woman isn't something men do much, everyone buys underwear for themselves, it's kind of a private thing”

“Ooh” you nod in understanding 

it's a bit uncomfortable at first but you slowly get used to wearing clothes, then the two get you to their car, you've never seen one from this close… except from the movies sans has shown you

and they take you to their house, you look out of the window with a big smile, it's so pretty! There are people walking, buildings, cars, stores, so much light!

When they reach their house, they help you out of the car and take you to their house

So this is what a house looks like from up close, again, you've seen it from the movies but not in real life

The two have even prepared a room for you to stay in!

But they tell you you should ‘shower’ turns out humans and monsters wash themselves with water regularly

The two say you smell like the sea and that people usually shower after being in the sea

So you do, the two dry your hair and ‘brush it’, since you live in the water you never really… had to do that yall just cut your hair from time to time with something sharp, cause when your hair gets too long it doesn't let yall swim freely

Then they feed you, and it's delicious! You sit at a table for the first time and sans teaches you how to use a spoon and fork, and for the first time, you sleep in a bed, it's really comfortable

The two said they'll take you outside tomorrow, you can't wait!

You wake up when someone shakes you, you startle awake actually, before seeing sans, oh right… you're not in the sea anymore…

You sit up, rubbing your eyes

“Papyrus insisted i wake you early so that you can get ready” he says apologetically

Right! You're going to the city today!

A wide smile appears on your face

“Thank you!” You get out of bed, wobbling a bit before keeping yourself straight

“Don't rush” sans says, chuckling slightly “let's go” he takes your hand, helping you out of the room and to the bathroom where you wash your hands and face and then yall go to the kitchen, where papyrus is readying food

You sit at the table, watching in awe as he cooks, you wanna learn to do that too!

“You like that?” 

“Yes! I wanna do that too!” You look down sadly “but i don't know how…”

“I CAN TEACH YOU, AFTER ALL, I AM THE GREAT PAPYRUS, A MASTERCHEF!”

“Really?!” you ask happily

He nods proudly

Sans just chuckles

You eat food, and while you're eating papyrus starts talking about his plan for the day

“I HAVE MADE A WHOLE PLAN FOR THIS DAY!”

“Plan? It's just an outing bro”

“THIS IS Y/NS FIRST! SO WE SHOULD HAVE A PLAN AND BE PREPARED FOR EVERYTHING!” he says, putting his hands on his hips “ANYWAYS, FIRST! WE'LL GO TO THE BIG MALL!”

“Mall?” You say through a mouthful of food

“It's not polite to talk with a full mouth”

Oh…

“Sorry”

“YES! THE MALL, THEN WE'LL GO TO A COFFESHOP, WE NEED TO SEE IF YOU PREFER SWEET OR BITTER. THEN, WE'LL GO TO SEE A MOVIE”

“Like… where exactly will we watch the movie?”

“THE CINEMA”

“That's where people watch movies which has come out recently, it has a big screen”

“Ooh” you nod in understanding

“BY THEN IT WILL ALREADY BE NIGHT”

and so yall went

You walk in the mall, seeing the many shops and displays

You look around excitedly

Papyrus calls you, making you look at him curiously

“I BET YOU'D LOOK LOVELY IN THAT” he says, pointing at a clothes stores display

So?

He walks in the store, you look at sans, he shrugs and motions for you to follow his brother, you do so hesitantly with sans entering after you

Papyrus is already holding the clothes he pointed at

He holds it out for you

Has he forgotten that you don't really have money?

You just look down

“Go try it on, there” sans points at a wooden room “that's a dressing room”

“But-”

“JUST GO” papyrus forces the clothes in your hand

“Ok…” you walk in the dressing room and change into the new clothes, it takes a while but you finally do it and walk out for them to see

“I KNEW IT!” Papyrus says proudly

“You do look lovely” sans smiles

“WE'LL TAKE IT” Papyrus tells a human that was waiting there

“But-”

“NO BUTS”

“You have excellent taste!” The human says, smiling

“Go change back”

You sigh, nodding and walking to the dressing room to change back into your former clothes

When you come out, the human takes the clothes from you and puts them in a plastic bag, and papyrus pays for it

“You really shouldn't have” your eyebrows knitting together in worry

You don't want to be a burden, you don't need clothes, you don't want them to waste their money on you

“DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT”

“Yeah, you looked amazing in that, it would be a shame if we didn't get it” sans says, putting a hand on your shoulder

“Wow, your voice is beautiful” the human says with a smile

“...Thank you…” you say, that's the polite thing to do as papyrus said

Then you go out of the store and keep walking around

The two buy you different things, foods, snacks, clothes, even a potted flower just cause you liked it

At first you were really worried but the two reassure you that they don't mind

They even carry the bags for you!

You walk with a big smile as you look around

As you're standing and looking at a display, a human man approaches you

“Wow, you look absolutely stunning, can i have your number?”

“Number?” You tilt your head

“Yeah, phone number”

You don't have that…

“Leave her alone will you?” Sans says, taking a step closer to you “she's not interested”

“Didn't know she has a guard dog” the guy says with a scowl

Sans eyesockets narrow

You look at sans

“Why does he want a number?” Why is sans being so protective all of a sudden?

“He wants to date you, sweetheart” sans explains

Date?

No! You want to date sans!

You step closer to the skeleton, looking at the human wearily

The guy scoffs

“Tch, you're not all that eitherway” he turns around “monsterfucker” he mumbles as he walks away

“Monsterfucker?”

“He thought me and you are dating” sans sighs

Why did he sigh?

“Don't you want to?”

His eyesockets widen

“Wha- don't say things like that” 

Oh did you offend him?

“Sorry”

“LET'S GET GOING”

You all keep walking, after going through the whole mall, you go to the next part of the plan, the coffeeshop

You sit there at a table when a monster comes over and smiles

“What can i get for you today?”

Sans leans down

“That's a waitress, her job is to take your orders and bring the food you ordered for you” he whispers so that only you can here, honestly, his deep voice sends a shiver through your spine

You ignore it, nodding in understanding

The two order, papyrus orders something for you as well

When the food arrives, he hands you the two drinks and a donut, which one is a ‘black coffee’ and one is a ‘latte’

papyrus insists you try the black coffee first

You drink it and IT'S BITTER, your face scrunches up as it hits your tongue

Papyrus bursts out laughing

“YEAH, THOUGHT SO” he says between his laugh

You try the latte, and it's sweet! You like it!

“SWEET TOOTH THEN”

You sit there, eating and talking with the two before going to the cinema

Sans was right, the screen is BIG! you all sit down and watch the movie the two have chosen

It was really fun!

After you're done with that as well, you all get to the car, you've ran around so much that day that you fall asleep in the car

“BETTER TAKE HER HOME”

“Home? Like… our home or the sea?”

“OURS, OBVIOUSLY”

Sans nods

Yeah, that's a good idea

Sans picks you up bridal style, taking you inside and to your room, laying you on the bed and pulling the blanket on top of you

He stands there, staring at your face a bit, he pushes some hair out of your face gently, being mindful of his claws

You look beautiful… , he can feel his chest fluttering slightly as he looks at you

“YOU'RE ACTING JUST A LITTLE SUSPICIOUS, BROTHER”

Sans jumps, looking at his younger brother who is leaning against the doorway with crossed arms

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“I LIKE HER, I WON'T LIE, IT'S FUN, BUT YOU. YOUR INTEREST SEEMS TO GO JUST A LITTLE DEEPER”

“Wha- no! I just- she's something i thought was a myth and i then came to see her, I'm just intrigued and-...” papyrus raises a bonebrow “ok fine… who am i kidding?... just a little…” he looks away from his brother

“IT CAN'T HAPPEN… UNLESS SHE AGREES TO COME LIVE WITH US, OR IT CAN'T REALLY… WORK”

Sans frowns, looking down

Yeah, he's right… a love between a monster and a siren can't work, one lives on land, one in the sea

And why would you agree on coming to live on the land? Your whole life has been in the sea… in the water…

“THAT IS IF… SHE DOESN'T GET OVERWHELMED BY THE IDEA OF LOVE”

“I don't think i have to worry about it now…” sans looks at your sleeping form “I'll just… i won't tell her, we'll spend time together like we always have…”

“BUT… WHAT ABOUT YOU?”

“I… I'll bite the bullet, at least till she's a bit more ready…”

papyrus nods in understanding

Sans glances at you one last time before walking towards his brother, he turns the lights off before the two go out, closing the door slowly, leaving you to sleep peacefully, unaware of the conversation that just took place

The next morning, you wake up on your own terms, you go out of the room and look around, seeing sans around, coming out of the bathroom

“Good morning” he smiles at you

“Good morning!” You smile back, it's so good to wake up to seeing him

“Go wash your hands and face, then come to the kitchen, ok?”

“Ok”

He walks to the kitchen and you go to the bathroom, before going to the kitchen as he instructed

You watch papyrus again as he cooks and when the food is served is when he asks a question

“SO, IF I'M TO TEACH YOU HOW TO COOK, YOU'D HAVE TO BE HERE” he starts, making you look up at him “WOULD YOU LIKE THAT? STAYING HERE WITH US?”

“Papyrus-” sans's eyesockets widen but he's cut off

“I'M JUST ASKING HER OPINION BROTHER”

You think about it, you don't want to be a burden for them… sans has explained how monsters and humans have jobs and earn money to buy things like food, they don't just hunt It whenever they want

“But… won't that bother you? I don't want to bother you…”

“OF COURSE NOT”

“Why would you think that?” Sans says with a small frown, oh no, did you offend him?

“I… someone living with you is… uh… you gotta feed them and-”

“MONSTERS HAVE HAD GOLD WITH THEM WHILE COMING TO THE SURFACE, WHICH IS A VALUABLE THING, SO, WE'RE PRETTY WELL OFF, NOT TO MENTION ME AND MY BROTHER WORK FOR THE KING AND QUEEN AND HAVE HIGH PAYING JOBS, SO, IF THAT'S BOTHERING YOU, DON'T THINK ABOUT IT”

You look at him in surprise, ok he found out easily why you were worried

“Are you sure?...”

“A hundred percent” sans nods

“Then… i would love to…”

Staying with sans? You'd love that!

“WE CAN TAKE YOU TO THE BEACH FROM TIME TO TIME TO SWIM AND HAVE SOME FUN TOO”

they'd really go that far for you? They're so kind…

A warm feeling appears in your chest as you smile at the two

You've been staying with the brothers for two weeks now, papyrus teaches you how to cook and sans takes you out, showing you around and teaching you how to blend in, also teaching you about basic knowledge

They have even gotten a phone for you and have been teaching you how to use it

Right now you three are in another coffeeshop, this one is called muffets, ran by a spider monster

You're talking with the two when the fish monster, accompanied by the yellow monster that you now know resembles a lizard (sans has taught you about animals) from that day approaches you

“Hey nerds! What are you doing here?!” Then she notices you “Hey! You're that woman from that day on the beach!”

“Hello” you say with a smile, sans and papyrus say it's the right thing to do

“Yeah, we… became friends?” sans says

“I see, good to see you got home safely, nerd!” She grins

“Thank you”

Undyne brings two chairs and the two sit at your table, the waiter comes again to take their order as well

They talk about things that you can't really understand, must be about their jobs… or something

Sans talks with YOU though, so that you don't have to just sit there and listen to things you don't understand

You listen happily as he explains more things to you and ask things from him

After a while undyne mentions how it's time for a daily visit

Sans explains to you that they visit the king and queen each week, whom the monsters ambassador lives with, the same human child you saw that day on the beach, their name is frisk as he said

“DO YOU WANT TO COME WITH US?” Papyrus asks, which seems to surprise undyne

“Oh no, i don't want to bother you” they may not want you there

“There's no bother” sans smiles at you, putting a hand on your shoulder “i think you should come actually” he leans down to whisper in your ear “you don't want to stay alone at home right?”

Yeah… he's right

You nod

“LET'S GO THEN” they stand up and you follow, walking with them out of the coffeeshop and to papyrus's car, undyne and alphys (you came to know the lizard monsters name is) go with their own car

You go to the ‘embassy’ as sans said and go inside, that's where they live

It's a very big building

You go inside and just follow the two brothers in what sans explains is an ‘elevator’ until they're infront of a door

They knock and the door opens, the human child smiling widely

“Hello!”

“HELLO” and sans just waves, you hide behind sans a bit

Are you really welcome here?

Sans puts a hand on your lower back and gently pulls you with him as he walks inside

You see the two furry monsters which you now know look like goats

“Hello, oh! Who is that?” the woman which sans says is the queen asks, tilting her head

“This is y/n, we asked her to tag along”

“well, welcome little one” the man who is the king says

“Thank you” you smile

Ok, they took it easily

“Hello miss!” The human child says happily, raising a hand for a handshake

You look at their hand a bit before shaking it, being careful not to hurt them, sans wouldn't like that right?

“Please come in!”

The queen leads you to couches and you all sit down, the two goat monsters bring you tea and pie

And you must say they're both AMAZING! Really delicious

A little later undyne and alphys also arrive

You sit and eat as the group talks about different things

“i didn't think you would befriend the human” undyne says all of a sudden

“What do you mean?” The queen asks, tilting her head

“Don't you remember? This is the same human we found in the sea that day, which had lost her clothes”

“Oh! So that is why you looked so familiar!” the queen says with a smile

“I couldn't quite put my finger on it either” the king nods

“I'm happy to know you've reached home safely” the queen says with a kind smile

"I did say I'd get her home safely” sans shrugs

“how did yall become friends?” undyne asks

The two brothers glance at eachother and at you

“Well, after that day… i guess i went to her uh… residence to visit, with her consent of course”

“So t-that's why you wanted the t-tracker?” Alphys asks papyrus 

Sans side eyes papyrus, making him smile awkwardly

“Tracker?” You ask

“It's a long story” sans says

“I like stories”

“NOT THE TIME”

“Oh ok…”

The group spends some more time talking until it's time to leave so yall do and go home

You're cooking with papyrus as he gives you some tips on how to do it better as sans goes through his phone

“YOU'RE DEFINITELY GETTING BETTER” he nods approvingly

You smile widely, feeling proud of yourself

You've been writing recipes down, on one hand, it'll help your cooking and on the other, it'll help your writing, one bird, two stones… no… oh right, one stone, two birds, idioms… sans has been teaching those too

You're currently at the beach, the two brothers watching you from the land as you swim around, you missed swimming so much, but living with the two brothers is worth it

“She's beautiful… isn't she?”

“SHE SURE IS” papyrus looks at his older brother who's looking at you swim with an almost awestruck face, he has never seen sans look at someone like that before

Well, you have agreed to stay with them, at least for a while, so that's a good start

Currently the brothers are teaching you how to play a boardgame, you keep asking questions, thank god they're really patient with you, actually, they have taught you a few games by now

You play and you keep losing until you finally win once

“Yes!” You jump up in celebration

You don't notice the two fist bumping under the table

You have asked papyrus to let you help in cleaning the house, he at first was against it but after some persistence, he agreed, so he teaches you how to clean around, you hum to yourself as you clean around

“YOU KNOW, ACTUALLY, I'VE NEVER HEARD YOU SING” he says suddenly while he dusts around "COULD YOU SING ONCE? I'M QUITE CURIOUS, I'VE NEVER HEARD A SIREN SING”

Hm… ok

You nod and start singing, he stops dusting and just stares at you, sans comes out of his room as well, staring at you

Which is normal, even if you don't want to, some magic still slips in when you sing, even if it's not strong enough to make them come towards you, it is enough to make them stare or want to hear more

You keep singing while you clean, the two brothers just stare, you finally stop when you're done with your chore

The two break out of their trance

“WOW… NOW I UNDERSTAND… WHAT THEY MEANT”

“Yeah, I fell for it once” sans agrees

“Sorry about that” you smile at him, even though, if you haven't done that, you wouldn't be here right now

You're so happy that you decided to hunt a human that day and even more happy that it was sans you actually pulled towards you

He just chuckles

Papyrus has gotten you headphones to listen to music, human/monster music is nice! You like listening to it while you do things

Things have been extremely fun since you've been living with the two, you can't even imagine going back to your old life, just living in the sea, sirens normally live in packs but you didn't… you were actually pretty far from yours, you got lost once… and never found them again, ever since then, you've had to live alone, you've gotten used to it, but it's nice living with someone else now

You're currently out in a coffeeshop, you've tried different things by now, and have found your favorite!

You look at the waitress as she walks away, an idea striking suddenly

“Could I become a waitress too?” You ask the two

They glance at one another

“Why would you want to do that, sweetheart?”

First off, then you'd feel really better, also it sounds like an experience!

“Well… if i live amongst you, then maybe i can have a job too”

“I DON'T KNOW… I DON'T THINK… LOOK, IT'S HARD, BLENDING IN AND WORKING… ALSO WHAT IS WRONG WITH THINGS NOW?” He seems a bit worried

“Nothing, but I've never had a job… I wanna experience it once”

“Ok” you nod with a smile

You hear a gasp
