The Gentle Breeze That Calms Our Souls

Summary:

John and Dozer resting under a tree :]

Work Text:

John had long ago stopped fighting when Dozer had randomly decided to begin shoving them inside his robe and bringing them to random places. It was their new normal at this point. One moment they would be running around Grace, the next they would be swooped inside of Dozers robe.

They had been trapped inside the indescribably soft blanket like robe Dozer had always worn for.. they aren’t sure how long. It could have been minutes, or even hours. John had since stopped trying to keep track of time since he entered Grace. It was no use, he would try and keep track before getting distracted and restarting. Or dying, that was always a possibility too.

Their train of thought had been suddenly ended as they were dropped to the ground, falling out of Dozers blanket. Eyes adjusting to the sudden light, John noticed they were outside, on a small hill somewhere in Grace, a tall tree beside them. The sky was dark with Sorrows blood red clouds, yet everything was light despite the lack of sun. It was nice, strangely enough. A gentle breeze blew through their clothes as they gazed at the hills and trees that seemingly went on for miles, soft grass looking like waves from afar as the wind blew through it.

Dozer was quick to crawl beside John, lying next to them with his arms curled around them. He wrapped his soft blanket around Johns legs, face nuzzling into their side as Dozer began to purr. A calming sound that made John sigh in content, stomach fluttering with butterflies and heart skipping a beat.

Their hand found their way to Dozers head, scritching his chin as he purred louder, arms tightening their grip around Johns torso. A gentle smile found its way to their face, watching as Dozers cheeks got dusted in a soft red.

John pulled the soft blanket over themself further, the heat from Dozers body still lingering in the material. John now understood how he could sleep literally anywhere (Litany had once found him asleep on top of the fridge. How he got up there no one knows.), this blanket was so soft they could easily fall asleep on the floor. They already felt their eyes began to grow heavy, and their heart beat slow.

Though, sitting up right would be a pretty uncomfortable way to sleep. So, John shifted themself so they could lay down, arms wrapping around Dozer, who wrapped them up in his blanket. The only visible part of John to anyone on the outside would be their head, eyes closed as they sighed in comfort, face buried in Dozers neck as he purred.

The gentle swaying of the branches of the tree the two laid under slowly but surely lulled them both into a deep, comfortable sleep. The gentle breeze of the wind ensuring neither got too warm in the blanket they rested in.
