NOW THERE IS NOTHING LEFT BUT OUR REGRETS
The Spectors have been purified
The Zones have been purified
The three Guardians have been purifed
The World has been purified
The player watched in indifference, complicating at what was done as the lone cat known as “The Judge” walks alone in each purified zone
It was only the two left in this empty world…
The player thinks back at what started this and how it ended.
They remember the darkness, the heaviness in their being as they floated in the abyss. A familiar feeling they once grew used too before being summoned to this world
It asked for their name, they recalled only to call them “player”
It asked for what gender to call them..the entity only told that they prefer not to say
It showed them the puppet the player would soon need to guide.“The Batter” was his name, what a nice name seeing the typical baseball like uniform they had on.
He claimed he had a mission
“I have a sacred mission to fulfil, I must purify the world”
The player didn’t understand what that meant at first…
They didn’t know what to think about their puppet, having his own sense of sentience. The Batter was very monotone, blunt, persistent and straight to the point.
When the two first arrived in zone one, it seemed empty, but they soon realized someone resided here
It was a cat, they called themselves “The Judge”
The Judge thought The Batter was just a figment of his imagination at first, since only he resided there.
The Batter introduced themselves to the cat, claiming of there mission to purify the world
The judge acknowledged “The Batter”
They acknowledge them
The player was pleasantly surprised that it knew they were there, not used to any knowing there’s one behind the strings
“This is “The Player”, they cannot talk with us. However they can hear and see everything”
Which was true, The player couldn’t speak, they usually couldn’t in normal circumstances. It was complicated.
“The Judge” soon became their guide, helping them through out the zones in certain areas, giving hints and advice.
Zone after Zone, the two battled spectors, the player issuing the commands while The Batter putting them to use
They were a good duo, The player started to enjoy his presence even if he was..well him.
They purified all the zones, defeating the guardians of said zones. The player thought nothing of it, thinking it was just how things had to be done.
That is..until the player started reconsidering said mission
It’s strange to think about, said player had one objective, now was considering if it was all right.
It first started in zone 2 when in the library. Being naturally curious, they made Batter read book every book that was interesting to them, wanting to know everything about the world they were in, even if said Batter tried insisting to change route over to the mission again and again.
Things started to connect the dots slowly for the Player when getting to the third floor, managing to fix all the pages that were ripped:
"This is the story of the three guardians, chosen by the Queen to rule over the zones, islets of life in the Nothingness of this world.
The first, Dedan, was tall and short of temper. His firmness of character and his body of steel ensured him supreme reign over his Zone.
The second, Japhet, was kind and generous. Always smiling benignantly, he was beloved by all. He always went off in all directions, never ceasing to give more security to his subjects.
The third, Enoch, was cold and just. He produced a fifth, artificial element in his Zone, sugar. His people became addicted to this magical substance. They were happy, but disconnected from reality.
Arcane legends tell of the Queen, living by her father's side in the Room, engendering the phantoms to destroy the world that they themselves have created. Some say that she is beautiful like the heart of the sun, others are certain that she is invisible. All of this is, evidently, nothing but unfounded speculation."
They were quiet when reading what was wrote down, even if the pages were faded and hard to read.
The three guardians seemed to be once better, maybe not all of them..but different in the past.
It made them wonder what happened, what changed? It seemed things were better before The Batter was summoned.
What did purify actually mean, people doing bad things, and had to be stopped, right?
That thought faded once going back to previous zones.
It was unsettling
Everything was quiet, empty, it was like a blank slate to something new. Is this what they were doing? Ripping everything away from the zones until nothing is left?
They recall what The Batter said in that room
“It’s better this way”
Was it truly? While the player understood in a way that things need to be dealt when someone is in the wrong, but was just erasing everything the solution?
The final straw for them was poor Hugo
Hugo was a sick child, The player felt pity for him, wishing they could help him.
The three guardians were friends to him and The player was responsible for taking that away.
Even poor Hugo..why did they have to do that?
The player didn’t blame The Batter for all he did, they were only doing there mission, their purpose.
Maybe the player didn’t fully understand this world, or what was happening, but they soon grew to enjoy it.
The Player just wishes things were different…
They wish things would go differently, maybe they could change fate? Or everything is just how it should be..
The Switch is now…
