Chapter Text
PokeRose
The day was bright in Patch as small flying Pokémon flew around the small village, from simple pigeys and sparrows to some unique ones, from flechling’s and tallow's.
In this story, a teenage girl wearing polka-dot pajamas and a black tank top rushes to a closed door. As she swings it open, she sees a giant bush of blonde hair under the sheets.
“YANG, WAKE UP!” Ruby exclaimed to Yang as Yang sleepily awakened.
“Go away, Rubes! Can't you see I'm trying to sleep here?" Yang told Ruby as she was trying to get more Z’s, only for Ruby to move towards Yang’s bed.
Ruby reached over and ripped the covers off of Yang as she sported her own pajamas. As Yang looked at her sister, confusion clouded her mind.
“Rubes! The thing doesn't start until 10 o'clock!” Yang exclaimed to her sister as she became angry about being disturbed from her sleep.
“YANG IT’S 12 RIGHT NOW!” Ruby exclaimed as Yang shot awake, falling off her bed in absolute surprise.
“RUBES, WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR!” Yang exclaimed as she got up from the wooden floor, and she sprinted towards the Pokémon lab.
“YANG, YOU ARE WEARING YOUR PAJAMAS RIGHT NOW!” Ruby exclaimed to Yang as she realized she was still in her pajamas.
Yang quickly responded to Ruby’s comments, “RUBES QUICK! HEAD INTO THE SHOWER!” Yang yelled at her sister, who rolled her eyes as she sprinted into the shower, and she closed the bathroom door.
After twenty minutes, Ruby finally got out of the shower. Ruby wore a black sleeveless shirt, a red skirt, black thigh-length socks, and Red and Black tennis shoes. She donned a red cloak passed down by her late mother.
“Finally, you're done with the shower that took ages!” Yang exclaimed to her sister as she rushed past her to get into the shower, and Ruby rolled her eyes again.
After two hours, Yang finally got out of the shower. Yang wore a yellow tank top with a brown puffy jacket and denim shorts, which she had ripped for style points, paired with brown boots. Yang wore a black and yellow hat that had a Pokémon ball logo in the middle, with her hair poked out of the back of the hat in a large ponytail.
“Yang, you don’t ever! Tell me I take forever in the shower!” Ruby exclaimed to Yang, then turned to the front door, finally done waiting for her sister to finish her shower.
“Rubes, you know how long it takes to brush this magnificent hair!” Yang said as she took very good care of her hair.
“Anyway, Rubes, we must get to the Pokelab right now!” Yang told Ruby as she was currently
“Gee Yang! I wasn't thinking of that right now! After your two-year shower!”
Yang looked at her sister after she said, “Well, good to hear your voice box moving! Rubes, but not your feet!” Yang told Ruby, who rolled her eyes at Yang.
Finally, at the front door, they see their father and his Yamper standing there.
Tai Yang's father had blonde hair, with him having some stubble on his face, as he wore a Black tank top and brown shorts to match.
“Oh, look at my girls, all grown up for your Pokémon adventure. Oh, I remember my first Pokémon adventure at your age.” Tai talked to his daughters as he was very proud of them.
Ruby and Yang smiled at their dad. “Don't worry, Dad, we will come back for our stuff before we leave in the morning,” Ruby told Tai, who smiled at his daughter.
“You two better, as I need to prepare my sentimental speech,” Tai smiled at the two girls as they left the house for the Pokelab.
Hurrying through the small town, they quickly found the building they were looking for, a large white building with a brown tiled roof and a large window shaped like a Poké Ball above the door.
The girls also noticed the figure of the white haired man with his signature lab coat, holding his cane. Standing at the front of the building, Professor Ozpin greeted the duo.
“Well, Miss Rose and Xiao Long, I would say good morning, but it's a little too late for that,” Professor Ozpin states as he looks at the sun's position.
“We're so sorry for the wait, Ozpin, my sister made us late,” Yang said to Ozpin while Ruby looked at Yang.
“That's not true, Ozpin! Yang was the one who was asleep all morning and took a two-hour shower!” Ruby yelled as she glared at her sister.
“Oh yeah, Rubes, what were you doing while I was asleep. I saw you still wearing your PJs!” Yang told Ozpin’s Ruby’s lie as she got flustered at Ozpin’s staring at her before glaring harder at her sister.
Ozpin, seeing the interaction, just smiled at the two girls. “So are you two here to argue or are you here to collect your starters?” Ozpin questioned, which brought Ruby’s and Yang’s attention to the man.
“Wait, you still have starters left!?” The two sisters said at the same time that Ozpin just blinked.
“Yes, I only have two left, and let's just say they have large personalities,” Ozpin states as he moves away from the front door, allowing Ruby and Yang through.
Ruby and Yang smiled as they imagined the personalities of being too cuddly or maybe too shy, as they would love that Pokémon personality type.
“What are we waiting for? Let's go!” Ruby and Yang stated as they ran inside the facility to get their Pokémon.
Inside the facility, the walls were a pristine white as they saw machines that they didn't understand much, or what they did as Ozpin made his way to a table centered on the right side of the building.
Ruby and Yang looked at the table to see two Poké Balls. The two sisters were overjoyed to finally start their adventure, imagining the stories they could have.
Yang imagines getting a Charmander, a Torchic, or a Litten, while Ruby imagines a Bulbasaur, a Fennekin, or a Mudkip. However, any starter would be perfect for both sisters, as they will become the champion and beat the current one in their region, being their Uncle, even if they have to beat their sister in the process to get there.
Ozpin moved to the desk as he looked at the two Poké Balls on the table.
“Before you choose the Pokémon, why don't you see which one you will want,” Ozpin said as he released the right pokeball as the beam of light hit the table and released a Pikachu with a heart shaped tail who looked around confused before striking a pose as she used her little hands above her head like signaling to a crowd of people before doing a backflip and elbow dropping the table below it.
PIKA
PIKA
PIKA
Pikachu said something like a chant to rile up the crowd, just the three of them.
Ruby looked at the Pikachu, confused by its behavior, while Yang looked at it as if it were the most perfect thing alive.
“I WANT THAT ONE!” Yang exclaimed as she looked at the Pikachu, which looked at Yang and saw her muscles, and looked happy.
Ozpin noticed Yang had already made her choice, but decided to explain why the Pikachu was so hyper, as he saw Ruby struggling to understand its personality.
“This Pikachu believes she is in a wrestling match as the breeder may have influenced the egg by having pro wrestling matches play while it was an egg,” Ozpin stated to the sisters as Yang picked up the Pikachu and put it on her left bicep and flexed as the Pikachu replicated the action in glee.
Ruby, seeing that display, looked at the other Poké Ball, knowing it was hers, since she was certain Yang would fight her for the Pikachu. “Hey Ozpin, can I see what the left one has?” Ruby asked Ozpin, who nodded as he released the left Poké Ball, and out came an Eevee that looked at Yang and tilted her head, as if in disgust at what Yang wore.
Yang seeing this was offended by the Eevee’s reaction to her as she looked at Ozpin for clarification while Ruby laughed at Yang which got the attention of the Eevee who saw the red cloak in absolute marvel as the Eevee thought it was very stylish as it come to the end of the table towards Ruby demanding pets from the girl which Ruby obliged in as she pet the Eevee.
Ozpin giggled as he saw the look of pure joy in Ruby's face as she petted the Eevee’s head, who seemed to like the pets and attention from the younger girl.
“Well, you see this Eevee is very let's call it pompous as it was very judgmental with what other people are wearing and doesn't like being dirty at all,” Ozpin states, drawing from his experience as a Squirtle, which accidentally splashed the Eevee with water. The Eevee became enraged as it tackled the Squirtle.
“Oh, you don't like being wet, no, you don't, no, you don't,” Ruby said to her eevee as she petted it, which the eevee smiled happily at.
Ozpin, seeing this, handed Yang Pikachu's Poké Ball. In contrast, he handed Ruby the Eevee’s Poké Ball, as clearly the two Pokémon had found their trainers, with the Pikachu riding the Blonde's shoulder and the Eevee huddled on the girl's hood of her cloak.
“Well, it seems like you two have gotten your starters now before you go, I have to give you this,” Ozpin states as he goes into the back of the lab.
With Ozpin gone, Yang looked at Ruby.“So, Rubes, while I got a cool Pikachu who does pro wrestling moves, you got an Eevee who would rather prance around and judge someone than actually fight,” Yang teased her sister as they could hear the growls of the Eevee from the back of Ruby’s cloak.
“See, my partner here wants to put your money where your mouth is,” Ruby states as the Eevee emerges from her cloak hoodie and stares at the Pikachu, who has her arms outstretched, telling the Eevee to bring it, which makes the Eevee mad.
Ruby and Yang exchanged a glance before stepping back, their Pokémon intervening as they were about to clash. Just as they were about to fight, they heard Ozpin emerge from the room, carrying two red devices.
“Before you two have your first Pokémon fight, you will need these to know what the Pokémon can do,” Ozpin told the sisters as he handed each device.
“What are these, Professor?” Ruby and Yang asked as they looked at the device before them.
“These are called a pokedex, a device that has all the Pokémon's information, and also will tell you their current moves,” Ozpin states as Ruby tries it out with her Eevee.
“EEVEE: A Pokémon that can evolve to adapt to any environment due to its irregular genetic code.” The pokedex states to Ruby, who looks at the Eevee before her.
Yang noticed that she was using the device on her Pikachu.
“PIKACHU: This Pokémon can store and discharge electricity from its sacs on its cheeks to shock its enemies. Their electricity is powerful enough to cause lightning storms.” The pokedex states about Pikachu as Yang smiles and puts it away.
“Now do you understand what your Pokémon can do?” Ozpin asked the sisters, who nodded as their Pokémon prepared to battle.
“I usually wouldn't allow a Pokémon battle in my lab, but since these Pokémon are low level, I will allow them to battle here.
"I will be the instructor of this match. The only way for a winner to be decided is if the Pokémon faints, do you understand?” Ozpin told the sisters, who nodded eagerly to brag about being the victor of this match.
“Now then, let the battle BEGIN,” Ozpin exclaimed as Ruby and Yang looked at their Pokémon.
“Alright, Pikachu, use tackle,” Yang instructed her Pikachu as it went over to tackle the Eevee in front of it.
“Alright, Eevee, dodge to the left, then tackle her!” Ruby instructed Eevee as it started to move, left before Pikachu could hit her, as it began to bolt towards Pikachu, ready to hit.
Yang sees this: “Pikachu, use your arms to push the Eevee away!” Yang told Pikachu, who stretched out her arms as the Eevee approached. However, the arms of the Pikachu stopped the Eevee, as Pikachu was holding it back, and the Eevee tried to headbutt the other mon.
The standstill occurred because the Eevee couldn't hit the Pikachu, and the Pikachu couldn't move its hands or lose its strength to get hit.
Ruby decided to do something as she called for her Eevee, “Eevee, do tail whip!” Ruby said to Eevee, as it nodded, as if to use its bushy tail in the face of Pikachu.
Yang saw this and immediately knew she needed to do something. “Pikachu, grab the tail!” Yang said. Still, the Pikachu didn't listen as the tail kept hitting her face. It caused a reaction as Pikachu sneezed on the tail, which horrified the Eevee.
“Now Eevee tackle her as she's stunned!” Ruby told her Eevee, not noticing her, Eevee was obviously distressed about her tail.
Ruby’s Eevee immediately ran away from the Pikachu as it sat down to clean its tail under a table.
Ruby looked at this display, “Eevee, what are you doing!” Ruby shouted to Eevee, who was too busy cleaning its tail.
Yang, noticing that Eevee was distracted, saw her opportunity. “Alright, Pikachu, use Quick Attack,” Yang said as Pikachu ran over to the Eevee at quick speed and hit it, sending the Eevee back.
“Yeah/No,” Yang cheered while Ruby was displeased.
But before Yang could instruct her Pikachu to do more, the Pikachu started to climb the table, posing as it did so.
“Yang, what is your Pikachu planning to do!” Ruby exclaimed to her sister as the Pikachu finally got on the table, showing off to the three people.
“Honesty, Rubes, I have no idea, but this is going to be funny,” Yang told her sister, who looked at the scene as they were both curious about what Pikachu would do.
The Pikachu on the table dove off onto Eevee’s back, causing it to yell in pain as it immediately got to its feet and started moving around the lab with the Pikachu riding it.
“Eevee, find a way to get the Pikachu off you!”
“Pikachu hit the Eevee!” Both Yang and Ruby tried instructing their Pokémon, but Eevee was too afraid of the Pikachu on her back to listen while Pikachu was doing poses on the Eevee’s back.
Ozpin was chuckling at the fight, finding it adorable to witness, while Yang and Ruby continued to try to tell their Pokémon what to do.
Finally, by pure accident, Eevee ran back to the table, which made Pikachu, who was gloating, hit her head on the table. As it hit the table, it finally started to use its arms to pull Eevee’s ears, which caused Eevee to yelp.
“Yeah, do that, Pikachu!”
“Eevee, use the table again!” Yang and Ruby told their Pokémon, but the Eevee headed towards a wall instead.
“Pikachu, get off the Eevee!”
“Eevee turn left!” Yang and Ruby tried again to help them fight, but it was too late. Eevee hit the lab wall, sending Pikachu flying into it. The two Pokémon fell to the ground, their eyes spiraling, and it appeared that both Pokémon had fainted.
Ozpin smiled as the match was entertaining to watch. “Both combatants have fainted. DRAW!” Ozpin states that the two competitors were picked up by their trainers.
“You did well, Pikachu,”
“Eevee, you tried your best,” Yang and Ruby consoled their Pokémon as they got back into their Poké Balls, and Ozpin put them into a machine to heal them.
“Well, that was fun to watch,” Ozpin said to the sisters, having thoroughly enjoyed their first Poké Battle.
Ruby and Yang nodded as it was an entertaining battle to watch with the personalities of both Pokémon on display.
Finally, after healing, the Pokémon were handed back to the sisters. They released them as they returned to their spots with their trainers, with Pikachu on Yang's shoulders, while Eevee nestled in the hood of her cloak.
“Thank you so much, Professor Ozpin. We are very grateful to you,” Ruby told Professor Ozpin, who smiled at Ruby.
“Don't worry, Ruby. I hope you and Yang stay safe. Call me anytime if you need anything,” Ozpin stated as he walked away from the sisters.
The sisters nodded as they headed home to gather their belongings and bid farewell to their parents.
Finally back at home with their new partners, they saw their dad with wrapped presents for the girls.
“I wanted to give my two daughters something before you two leave to help you on your journey,” Tai told Ruby and Yang as he laid the two gifts on the table.
Ruby and Yang let their Pokémon play with their father's Yamper. Ruby and Yang came over to the gifts as they opened them up. Each girl was given five potions and repels.
“I wanted to make sure your Pokémon were safe just in case you're not near a Poké Center, and I know Zubats can be a massive pain in the butt,” Tai told his daughters, who laughed about the Zubat joke.
The girls then grabbed the gifts, which contained ten Poké Balls and three Great Balls each.
“Dad, this is a lot.”
“Dad, are you sure about this many?” Ruby and Yang asked their dad, who smiled at his daughters.
“I wanted to make sure my daughters were prepared for their journeys. Besides, Qrow told me he had some gifts for you, but only in the future of your careers as Pokémon trainers,” Tai told his daughters, who came up to their dad and hugged him.
“Thanks so much, Dad,” Yang and Ruby said as they hugged their dad tightly.
“No problem, sweetheart, I can probably guess that you two are going to meet Summer before you go,” Tai said to his daughters as they let go of their hug.
“I want to show mother our Pokémon before we head off for our adventure,” Ruby and Yang said to Tai as they went upstairs to their room to grab their stuff.
Tai smiled as he saw their Pokémon, as the Pikachu was trying to pick up his Yamper, who just stood there happy as Yamper could be, as Ruby's Eevee was standing on the couch, judging the two Pokémon from a distance.
Tai chuckled, clearly seeing that his daughters had Pokémon with their own personalities.
With all their clothes in their backpacks, they began to move away from their rooms and looked back. As it was emotional for both sisters, since this was their home where they had lived since they were little girls, Ruby is fifteen, while Yang is now seventeen.
Finally heading downstairs as they saw Ruby’s Eevee being chased by their fathers Yamper and Yang’s Pikachu which the two giggled at as the Eevee seeing her trainer immediately came over to Ruby and lifted herself onto her two backpaws as to put her two front paws on Ruby as to beg to be back on her cloak which Ruby obliged as Eevee was back in her cloak.
“Now, girls, before you go see Summer, let me give you your sentimental speech, alright,” Tai said to his daughters, who sighed as they sat down on the couch.
“Alright, my daughters, I am so proud of you two, as I can see that you two are ready for the challenges to come, and I hope you two have an amazing journey out in the world. I hope my daughters meet new friends.” Tai said something that warmed the girls' hearts.
“And hey, maybe you two will find your soul mate out in the vast world,” Tai added, which Yang laughed at while Ruby blushed.
“Stay safe, my daughters. And if you have time on your adventure, I hope you see your old man a couple of times,” Tai ended his talk with his daughters as he gave them one last hug before Ruby and Yang went off.
“Bye, Dad!” Ruby and Yang exclaimed as they said goodbye to their dad before heading off to see Summer.
The girls moved through the village one last time, seeing all the houses in Patch, one last time, before reaching a cliff edge where a large gravestone read ‘HERE LIES SUMMER ROSE, A LOVING MOTHER AND AN INCREDIBLE TRAINER. SHE WILL BE REMEMBERED,’
Ruby and Yang sat down in silence, and their Pokémon followed suit, sensing their trainers' sadness.
“Hey, Mom, how are you doing up there with Arseus? You're probably playing with all the Pokémon there and meeting or talking to all the previous champions and amazing trainers up there,” Ruby said to her mother as she petted her new Eevee, who accepted the pets from her trainer.
“Yang came along with me on this adventure since she's worried about me. Ain't that so good for my big sister to protect me?" Ruby sarcastically said to her mother as Yang smiled at Ruby as she said that.
“But I'm joking, Yang is a good sister, and I'm thankful to have her come with me, even with our same goals in mind, but we are also here to tell you about our new starters. We got these from Professor Ozpin after Yang and I woke up late to the lab, which I know you would have been laughing at us for. This one is Eevee, my starter, who is my trusted companion in this journey, while I think Yang wants to tell you about her starter.” Ruby ended her discussion with Summer, knowing Yang wanted to talk to her.
“Hey Mom, I know it's been a while since I've seen myself here. I miss you a lot, and I think the world misses you too. Ruby mentioned I got a starter as I got this little gal,” Yang said as she held her Pikachu up to the gravestone.
“She’s very eccentric and loves wrestling, so I automatically wanted her as my companion on this adventure with Rubes, and don't worry, I will make sure Ruby is out of trouble,” Yang teased her sister, who looked at her.
“Yang! Summer and I know you were the troublemaker between the two of us!” Ruby told Yang, who chuckled at Ruby’s response.
“Anyway, Summer, I hope you are there for the two of us on our adventure, as we will need some support in our goal to beat our Uncle Qrow and become the champion of Vale!” Yang told Summer, as Ruby smiled, that they would have to battle to see who would become the champion first, but for now, they are allies who will help each other on their journey as trainers.
“This goodbye for now, Mom, but me or Ruby will always come back to talk to you more when we get the chance, but wish us luck on our journey, as I believe it will be pun,” Yang told a pun at the end which Ruby groaned at as she got up from her spot as her Eevee already in her cloak.
“See ya, Mom. I will hopefully tell you all the good things that Yang and I will be doing on our little adventure around Vale, so I hope you can't wait for that,” Ruby told Summer as Yang got up from her sitting position, as the two headed away from the gravestone, as they had an adventure to go to with their new pals. As the two girls headed to Route One.
The two sisters had no idea what events would unfold for them on this adventure.
