Chapter Text

What in the world had you gotten yourself into? After falling back in with Marik, you were dragged to the second phase of The Battle City finals on Kaiba’s remote Duel Island. Now you were with your friends again but also your dark and twisted lover. Marik made it clear en route that he was going to make it painfully obvious you were together. You gulped as you entered the blimp where everyone was staying. Marik went off to his room to grab something as you wandered over to the main lobby where everyone was stuffing their faces with food ahead of the semi finals.

“Yeah Yugi I-” Joey was saying before he cut himself off when he saw you enter the room awkwardly. “What the hell are you doing here, Y/N?” he asked you with a puzzled expression.

“Yeah, you’re not a semi finalist and you weren’t here before, why are you here now?” asked Tristan.

“Oh I…I…” you tried to stutter. “I um…I just wanted to see you all…”

“What’s going on?” asked Yugi, his brow now furrowed.

“Nothing pharaoh,” came Marik’s voice. He walked right up next to you and put his hand tightly around your waist. You felt color creep onto your face as the others gave you confused expressions. Even Seto Kaiba was puzzled at this sight, his blue eyes forever piercing and intense.

“She’s just here to support me,” Marik continued to say, a sick smile on his face.

“What the hell did you do to her?!” shouted Joey. “Did you brainwash her with your Millenium Rod?!”

“I did no such thing, she came here willingly to support her loving boyfriend,” Marik said, tightening his grip on your waist. You hung your head in shame.

“You sick bastard, no way did she come here to support you, last time I checked she broke up with you for what you did to her!” Tea yelled, you could feel her eyes on you.

“I apologized and we made up…several times…” Marik replied, a smirk on his lips. You felt like your cheeks couldn’t get any more red.

“Marik, please…” you mumbled.

“Ah sorry dear if I embarrassed you in front of your…friends,” he continued. “I have to finish preparations for the next duel, please enjoy yourself, all of you should enjoy your time together…before most of you are sent to the Shadow Realm,” he finished saying, letting go of your waist and laughing darkly as he turned away and walked back down the hallway.

Everyone ran over to you, Tea was the first one to grab your hand.

“Y/N…what is going on? I know you broke up with him,” she asked, concerned. You finally lifted your head to face them, tears in your eyes.

“I-I still love him…I’m so ashamed when he came back, I c-couldn’t stop myself…” you said, tears starting to fall. “I didn’t want to come here and face your disappointment, I know you all probably think I’m crazy, I just hope I can get his good side back…”

“We don’t think you’re crazy, we know that Marik wasn’t always this way,” said Duke, reassuringly.

“He dragged me here, he keeps saying he will make me his queen once he takes your powers, Yugi,” you explained, remorse in your voice. “I told him I won’t let him hurt anyone, I promise you guys, I will do everything I can to stop him,” your voice now a bit more confident and firm.

“We appreciate that,” said Yugi, his voice now an octave deeper. The pharaoh must’ve taken over.

“You guys have always been such good friends, I can’t believe I’m here with him…I just am so helpless around him,” your words tumbling out like a waterfall. “I know he still is good underneath there, I hope I can help pull it out of him.”

“I know you will,” a quiet voice said. You spun around and saw Marik’s sister Ishizu. “I am glad you’re here, Y/N, you were one of the only ones that could get through to him,” she said, comfortingly.

“Don’t be sorry, you love him. You were together for years, you always told me how much you wanted to be with him forever,” said Tea.

“But not like this, I can’t be with a monster, I just need to find a way to help defeat his dark side.”

“We will find a way, we always do,” said Joey.

“I won’t be rooting for him, I will be rooting for all of you to defeat him, it’s the only way to stop his evil plans,” you replied, looking at all of your friends in front of you, even glancing at Kaiba in the corner. “I know what he did to Mai, I can only hope that after his dark side is gone, she comes back or I’ll never forgive him,” you continued.

“We will get Mai back and save the world from his evil plans,” Yugi stated seriously. “I already promised that to Ishizu, so I will promise that to you as well, you have my word.”

“Thank you Yugi,” you said, giving him a hug. He hugged you back and in that moment you were beyond grateful for your friends.

“Now I’m sure you have a lot of preparations to do, so I’ll go find Marik and make sure he is behaving,” you said, breaking the hug. “Plus if he sees me hugging you, I think he might blow a circuit,” you said, a dry chuckle escaping your lips.

“Please, be safe, if he does anything to you I’ll beat him to a pulp!” shouted Joey. You nodded.

“Don’t worry, he won’t hurt me, I know his good side won’t let him,” you said, repeating what Marik had said to you countless times on the way here.

You walked away, looking for Marik’s room, hoping that he wasn’t torturing anyone. But before you could search anymore, you felt a hand grab your wrist and pull you into a room. It was him.

“I heard you talking to your friends, still think you can get my good side back, huh?” asked Marik, pinning you to a wall. Your heart started to beat faster and your mouth went dry.

“I just want the man I love back and I want you to stop hurting people, just because I came here with you doesn’t mean my mind changed,” you tried to act confident in your words of defiance. Marik laughed with that sick smile on his face.

“But I’m Marik now, you better get used to me sweetheart…plus I know you love this darker side of me,” he said, grabbing your hip and moving his lips closer to yours.

“I love you Marik, please…stop hurting people…” you pleaded, you could feel his breath on your lips and you wanted to kiss him badly. But you were trying to restrain yourself.

“Just give in, princess, I know you love it.”

“I’m addicted to you…” you whispered, admitting what he already knew. “Why can’t I control myself around you…”

“Because I’m addicted to you too, Y/N, everytime I look at you, I want to do so many things to you…” he whispered into your ear. You felt wetness pooling in your panties as his grip on your hip tightened.

“Just give in baby, it’s only a matter of time…” he said, finally closing the gap between your lips. He kissed you gently, not as forceful as the other times. But his hands were now at your breasts, feeling them through your shirt.

“M-Marik…” you moaned quietly.

“Before I go out there and defeat my next opponent, I want to make sure everyone knows your mine,” he said, lifting you up by your ass. You wrapped your legs around his waist as he laid you down on his bed. Marik snaked his hand into the waistband of your pants and started rubbing your clit through your panties.

“O-Oh god…” you groaned. Marik’s lips crashed back into yours and you felt the hunger and passion behind it. He removed his hand from your pants and he removed his own plus his shirt and cloak, leaving him in just his boxers. You bit your lip, your boyfriend was drop dead sexy even if you felt guilty about it now that his dark half was in control.

“You have way too many clothes on,” Marik said, huskily as he helped you out of your pants and blouse. You were now just in your undergarments as well.

“P-Please Marik, I need you,” you whined, his touch always drove you crazy. You meant what you said earlier, you were addicted to him. His touch was like electricity running through your veins. He had always done this to you, ever since you first met him.

“Then brace yourself princess,” he said, removing his boxers and then your bra and underwear. You saw the precum dripping off his hardened cock as he aligned himself with your entrance. You held your breath in anticipation as he slid himself slowly into you until he was fully sheathed within your tight walls.

“God, so fucking tight,” Marik groaned as he slowly started moving his hips.

“Faster!” you pleaded. He grinned at you as he lifted one of your legs over his shoulder.

“Look who is giving orders now,” he replied, smirking. But he took your cue and started moving into you faster and harder. You moaned even more, his large cock stretching your walls with every thrust.

“S-So good! Marik! Ah!” you moaned, closing your eyes, continuing to feel his thrusts. Your hands were clawing at his toned chest as he continued to fuck you relentlessly.

“Look at me, Y/N,” he said, using your name as you snapped your eyes open. “I want you to see me fucking you,” he ordered. You nodded as his piercing lilac eyes peered into your e/c ones. You continued scratching down his chest as his thrusts went even deeper. You broke his gaze as you threw your head back in pleasure.

“I-I keep getting close!” you cried out, desperately craving your release. Marik chuckled.

“I want this whole blimp to hear you when you come sweetheart,” he said, moving his finger towards your swollen clit.

“Marik!” you shrieked as your climax came crashing down on you. Simultaneously, you felt Marik release himself inside of you with a loud groan. Your eyes were still seeing stars as he slowly pulled out of you.

“For a quickie, that sure was fun princess,” he said, giving you a soft kiss and standing up. You laid there, heartbeat still racing as you came down from your climax. Marik returned, throwing a towel at you.

“You might wanna clean yourself up before we leave,” he said, chuckling as he slid his boxers back on. You did as you were told, cleaning yourself up and heading to the bathroom to get yourself together before the next round of the finals began.

“Oh god they probably all heard me…” you mumbled to yourself as you fixed your hair and you were grateful that you weren’t wearing makeup today.

As you walked back out, Marik was already dressed again and looking through his deck. You sighed as you got yourself dressed again as well.

“Come on love, we have a world to conquer,” said Marik, grabbing your hand and dragging you out of the room and towards the massive duel tower. The rest of the participants were already there. You didn’t have time to ask if they heard you because Kaiba was already barking orders at everyone.

“To determine who faces who in the semi finals, the finalists will be participating in a four-way duel,” he explained. “So everyone get in the tower and the finalists pick a door,” he ordered.

“The rest of us can watch!” said Mokuba, guiding the rest of you inside another door of the duel tower. As you saw the finalists, including Marik, go into the towers and reappear in weird dueling stations attached to the walls.

“What the hell…?” you asked aloud.

“They will duel each other and the two duelists that reach the top first will face each other in the first semi final!” said Mokuba. “Go get em’ Seto!” he cheered.

“And who are you rooting for?” Tea asked you.

“Whoever can beat Marik,” you replied, crossing your arms over your chest. “Whoever can get him back.”

As you watched the duel progress it was becoming obvious that Joey wanted to duel against Marik. You knew that it would be to get Mai back. Joey adored Mai and no doubt he was secretly in love with her.

“I will get Mai back, you no good pineapple head!” Joey shouted at Marik as they both rose to near the top of the tower.

“Well the matchups are now decided! Joey will face Marik and Yugi will face Mr. Kaiba!” declared one of Kaiba’s goons.

“The rest of us can go watch the duels!” said Mokuba, a little too excited for the dreadful situation that was about to unfold.

“Joey versus Marik? This is going to be a tough duel for Joey,” said Duke, concern written all over his face.

“You said it Duke, he is going to need all of us,” Tristan replied.

“Then let’s get going!” Tea said ushering you all towards the elevator. When you all finally appeared at the top of the duel tower, you saw Joey talking to Yugi as Marik stood there confidently ready for this duel.

“Oh hey guys!” Joey said, smiling. “Here to cheer me on?”

“You know it!” said Tristan.

“Go kick his ass!” said Duke.

“Please win Joey,” you said softly. He looked at you and grabbed your hand and gave it a squeeze. You didn’t see Marik but you could guess he was pissed at this sight.

“I will win and get Mai and the good Marik back, Y/N, I promise,” Joey said, his words full of passion. You nodded and gave him a quick hug. When you pulled away you felt a presence behind you.

“And what do you think you’re doing touching her?” Marik growled at Joey from behind you.

“I promised your lady that I will find a way to free your good side as well, if you even have one,” Joey retorted.

“Touch her again and I’ll send you to the Shadow Realm here and now!” Marik roared. You grabbed his wrist.

“Stop it Marik, that’s enough,” you said quietly. Marik’s clenched fist relaxed.

“Very well princess, have it your way, I won’t harm your little friend…yet,” he replied, that sick smile on his face again. He turned away and went back to the duel platform.

“Thanks for saving my hide there, Y/N!” Joey said with a big sigh of relief.

“Ishizu was right, you are one of the only ones that can get through to him,” mumbled Tea.

“Now, I have a duel to win!” Joey announced, climbing up onto the duel platform. It started to rise and you saw one of Kaiba’s goons was the ref or whatever.

“Let the duel begin!” shouted Roland. Before Joey could come up with a funny line to shout at Marik, you saw the Millenium Rod in Marik’s hand.

“No Marik! Don’t!” you shouted, but it was no use.

“We are taking this game to the Shadow Realm little Joey,” Marik smirked, raising the rod in the air and a dark fog started to envelop the top of the tower.

“Not another Shadow Game, Joey be careful!” shouted Yugi, who was standing next to you.

“This game will be different from the one your friend lost,” Marik said, his voice dark and threatening. “Every time we lose life points, part of our body's energy will be lost as well,” he explained. Joey looked confused.

“I don’t believe you, Marik!”

“Have it your way you fool.”

The duel began normally enough, both of the duelists summoning monsters and setting cards. But Marik’s threat proved to be true once Joey lost life points.

“My eel will now drain your panther which means it drains you!” he shouted, laughing maniacally as you saw Joey start to scream in pain.

“Ahh!” he shouted, grabbing his head. You and the others gasped. So it was true, when either duelist loses life points, they are drained of their energy.

“Stop it!” you screamed. Marik didn’t even turn to look at you.

“Joey!” shouted the rest of your friends. Joey managed to stay standing but he was definitely shaken, breathing heavily.

“Is that all you got Marik?!” he taunted.

“You have no idea what I have in store for you little Joey.”

“I’m not scared of you!”

“You should be,” Marik threatened. “Because next turn you’ll be facing my God card.”

“How?! You only have two monsters on the field!”

“Patience Joey, or you will spoil all the fun.”

“Oh shit,” you muttered, your eyes getting big.

“What is it, Y/N?” asked Yugi or well the pharaoh.

“I know what he’s about to do, he told me that this is his favorite way to summon Ra,” your voice trembling.

“Tell us!” shouted Tristan.

“H-He’s going to use Monster Reborn,” you said, tears welling in your eyes.

“But it will have zero attack points!” argued Duke.

“Ra has a special ability-” you started to say but Kaiba beat you to it.

“What she’s trying to mumble is that Ra has a special form, Egyptian God Phoenix, and it will incinerate every monster on the field, and probably Wheeler himself,” Kaiba explained.

“H-How did you…?” you asked, confused why he would know how Ra could be special summoned in that way.

“Because I have technology that helped me translate the card,” he explained, cocky as ever. You didn’t have time to come up with a witty remark.

“But it won’t damage his life points!” said Tea.

“It won’t matter, it will probably damage him too much physically,” Kaiba replied. The whole gang looked at you and then back to the duel.

“Joey! You need to be careful!” you shouted. “Marik is going to-” you tried to explain the situation but you were cut off as you were sent flying against the wall of the duel tower.

“I don’t need you spoiling my plans sweetheart,” Marik said laughing. He must’ve just used his rod on you. You groaned in pain as your friends ran over to you.

“Are you okay?!” asked Tea, worried.

“I-I’m fine, just surprised is all,” you said, getting to your feet.

“I summon Gilford the Lightning! He can stop you!” Joey shouted, sacrificing all of his monsters to bring out one of his most powerful cards.

“Joey! It’s a trap!” Yugi shouted, but it was too late. While Joey did manage to crush all of Marik’s monsters and damage his life points, you saw Marik was still standing and smirking.

“What are you talking about? I just got rid of all of his monsters and half his life points!” Joey replied confidently.

“Silly little Joey,” Marik said. “I activate my face down card, Monster Reborn!” he shouted.

“Oh boy,” mumbled Joey.

“I will use it to bring back my Winged Dragon of Ra! Come forth my beast!” he yelled into the sky. Ra’s presence was felt before he even showed up on the field. He was without a doubt, the most powerful card in all of Duel Monsters.

“What are you going to do with your oversized chicken? It has no attack points!” Joey said, laughing.

“At a cost of one thousand life points, I will turn Ra into its most devastating form! Egyptian God Phoenix!” he said. The monster behind him slowly started to become engulfed by flames. He was even more terrifying now that he was a literal phoenix.

“Ra is invincible in this form! He will destroy all of your monsters and you! HA!” Marik was laughing again as Joey’s expression changed from confident to scared.

“I can’t let this happen!” you shouted, moving towards the platform, you felt someone grab your wrist.

“Don’t do it! You’ll die!” Tea pleaded. You yanked your wrist free and with tears in your eyes you looked back at her.

“I promised, I wouldn’t let him hurt anyone,” you replied, solemnly.

“Winged Dragon of Ra! Attack!” you heard Marik order his beast. As Ra began his attack you managed to jump up and grab one of the dueling platform’s railings.

“Get down from there!” Roland yelled at you. You paid him no mind as you climbed over the railing and raced towards Joey.

“What are you doing?! You’ll get hurt!” Joey said, just realizing that you were there.

“I won’t let him hurt you! Mai needs you!” you shouted, standing in front of Joey, arms out wide. Even if you were much smaller than Joey, you tried your best to protect him. “Marik, stop this! Please!” you pleaded.

“Get out of the way you foolish woman!” you heard Marik yell.

“I won’t let you hurt anyone else! STOP!” you shouted as you saw the fire from Ra’s blast bearing down on both you and Joey.

“Don’t hurt her!” Marik shouted but it wasn’t his dark voice, it sounded like the Marik you used to know. “Shut up!” he shouted at himself. “This woman did this to herself! I will not be stopped, not by you!”

“Joey, run!” you shouted at him.

“I’m not leaving you! This blast will kill you!”

“Mai needs you! You need to be there for the woman you love! Don’t die up here!” you screamed, the attack was getting close.

“I’m not leaving you! You’re my friend!” shouted Joey, standing his ground. You sighed and stood your own ground in front of him.

“No!” shouted Yugi, but it was too late. The blast hit both you and Joey, the attack felt like your whole body was on fire, even your soul. You couldn’t hear Joey over your own screaming. You felt tears of agony pour from your eyes as it felt like your soul being ripped from your body. You couldn’t breathe, you couldn’t see, you couldn’t do anything but stand there in the inferno. The attack felt like it was going on forever and as the flames finally petered out, you felt yourself fall to your knees.

“M-Marik…” you groaned, falling on your face. Your head hit the cold metal ground with a thud. In your peripheral vision, you saw Joey was still standing.

“They both made it!” yelled Duke.

“Not for long,” Kaiba said coldly. “Y/N’s near passing out and Wheeler isn’t far behind her.”

“Joey declare an attack! You can win!” shouted Yugi with all of his might. Joey managed to draw a card and place it on the field but you could see his energy being sapped.

“No…” you managed to whisper as Joey fell down next to you, his monster shattering. You couldn’t see Marik but you were sure he was satisfied.

“Joey Wheeler has thirty seconds to get up or he is disqualified,” stated Roland. You moved your hand slightly to try and touch Joey, hoping to wake him up.

“Joey…no…” you cried.

“Joey Wheeler is disqualified, the winner of this semi final is Marik Ishtar!” declared Roland. The darkness lifted from the field but all you could see was Joey’s body. You were fading in and out of consciousness as well.

“Hang in there! Both of you!” yelled Duke as the whole crew stormed the platform. You felt arms around you, you managed to turn your head slightly and saw it was Yugi.

“Stay strong, Joey, Y/N!” he said, tears pouring from his eyes.

“Marik…why…” you managed to mumble as your vision was going black. “You promised you wouldn’t hurt me…” you said drifting off. But you didn’t drift off entirely, you felt yourself being picked up.

“Oh my sweet princess, how foolish of you,” you heard Marik’s low dark voice. Your body was too weak to fight him holding you.

“Let me go…what did you do to Joey?” you mumbled.

“You know exactly what I did, he’s in the Shadow Realm for all eternity,” Marik chuckled.

“Let her go!” shouted Yugi. Your vision was still blurry but you felt Marik spin you both around to face him. “Haven’t you done enough to her?!”

“You nearly killed your own girlfriend!” Duke yelled, his voice rising with every word. “She is supposed to be the woman you love, right?!” he taunted.

“She was an idiot for trying to defend her friend,” Marik replied. “But don’t worry she will be fine, the duel was between me and little Joey, so her soul is safe.”

“That doesn’t make it any better!” came Tea’s voice. You wanted to respond to your friends but you were weak, that attack nearly took you out for good.

“Come on princess, you learned a lesson about trying to help your friends,” Marik smirked, turning away from your friends. But then you felt yourself fall.

“W-What…” you croaked out, your throat was on fire.

“I got you,” came Duke’s voice.

“H-How?”

“Marik dropped you.”

“But…” you whispered, confused.

You blinked a couple of times, your vision was slowly coming back even if your body on a whole was still weak. Marik was grasping the side of his head and grumbling to himself.

“I-I’m sorry Y/N, please forgive me!” Marik pleaded, his voice was back to normal even if he still looked like his evil half physically.

“M-Marik,” you managed to say.

“Shut up! It’s about time I banish you for good!” shouted the evil Marik, taking back control.

“No!” screamed Ishizu who was standing next to Kaiba, watching the scene unfold. It wasn’t clear what was happening in Marik’s mind but his evil half had won for the moment.

“Now give her to me,” he growled at Duke.

“Like hell I will!” Duke yelled. But in his arms, you could feel his heart racing.

“Get out of my way or you will regret it you ignorant fool!” Marik roared, taking out his Millenium Rod.

“That’s enough!” shouted Yugi, or well the pharaoh, who was now standing between you and Marik. “She is coming with us to recover, you don’t get to torture her anymore!” he continued.

“Oh princess, how naive of you to think your friends can stop you from being mine…” Marik replied with a twisted smile on his more veiny face.

“You can keep her for now, she will have to watch every single one of you get sent to the Shadow Realm then I shall have her once again,” he told Yugi. You saw Yugi’s body tense and with that, Marik walked away.

“She’s not an object…” Tea muttered.

“Let’s get her and Joey down to the medical bay!” shouted Mokuba who had finally made up to the platform.

“And I have a question for her once she’s recovered,” Kaiba announced, crossing his arms over his chest. You had no idea what he wanted to ask you but you knew it wasn’t good.

“That’s up to her, for now, let’s get them both to a doctor,” Tristan said, helping Joey onto a stretcher. Duke still had you in his arms, carrying you to the elevator and then back towards the blimp.

“Take it easy, you’ll be okay,” Duke said softly, laying you down on a bed next to Joey and Mai. Your eyes immediately flashed over to Joey who was still out cold.

“Joey…” you whispered, tears coming to your eyes. “I’m sorry…” you cried.

“Don’t be sorry, this isn’t your fault,” Tea reassured you, sitting down next to you and grabbing your hand. You looked at her with tears falling from your eyes.

“I tried to stop him so many times, he won’t listen,” you mumbled, feeling defeated.

“It’s clear his good side is still in there, Y/N, we saw that all ourselves,” Yugi said reassuringly. You nodded. Despite your weakened state, you saw Marik struggling against his dark side. You knew that the Marik you loved wouldn’t hurt you, this was all of his darker half’s fault.

“We won’t let him hurt you anymore, if he wants to have you, he will have to go through us!” announced Duke.

“But he won’t stop and you’ll just get hurt trying to protect me, I won’t let anyone else get hurt,” you groaned. Finally, you had enough strength to sit up.

“I will put an end to his schemes,” Yugi stated firmly. While you believed him, you knew that he still had to face Kaiba.

“I see you’re more awake now,” came Kaiba’s voice from the doorway. You shot a glare his way. Speak of the rich devil, you thought to yourself.

“What do you want?” you asked, a scowl on your face. “The last person I want to see is you or Marik right now,” you continued.

“And why is it you hate me so much, princess?” Kaiba asked with a smirk on his face. If you had the strength to slap him at that moment, you would have.

“You slimy bastard, get out!” shouted Tristan. Kaiba ignored him and pushed past your friends to stand next to you.

“You didn’t answer my question,” he said to you, condescendingly.

“Because you’re the one who wouldn’t stop that duel despite the fact that Joey and I nearly died,” you seethed through gritted teeth. He scoffed.

“Wheeler deserved what he got and you were an idiot for trying to step in front of Ra’s attack,” Kaiba continued his condescension at you. “But I have a more pressing matter to discuss with you.”

“What the hell do you want from me?” you growled.

“First, I want all of your friends gone, this is a private matter.”

Your scowl changed from angry to confused at those words.

“Like hell we-” started Duke but Kaiba interrupted him.

“Get out, now!” he barked.

“Just go guys, I’ll be fine, I can handle this arrogant rich boy,” you said, crossing your arms across your chest.

“We will be right outside, if he tries anything, just shout,” Tristan replied, still glaring at Kaiba. Once all of your friends left Kaiba turned back to you, sitting down at the foot of your bed.

“Tell me how to defeat Ra,” Kaiba asked, or well, ordered. You rolled your eyes.

“You think I know how to defeat Ra?”

“You’re his girlfriend aren’t you?”

“And that makes you think he has confided that information to me? Ha, have you seen that psycho? He’s evil but he’s not stupid, he wouldn’t tell me that.”

“You’re the only one who knows him and knows what that card can do.”

“Even if I did know, why should I tell you, you pompous arrogant brat?”

“Because you know I’m the only one who can beat him.”

You had to scoff at that comment.

“Last time I checked, Yugi was the king of games,” you taunted. Kaiba’s jaw clenched and he grabbed your arm, tightly. You felt electricity shoot through you, it wasn’t just the pain it was something else. Something you couldn’t put your finger on. He must’ve felt it too because he pulled his hand away from you with a confused expression.

“What was that?” he asked, looking at you intensely.

“I-I don’t know…” you mumbled. “I’ve never felt that before.”

“Me either, but back to the topic at hand- tell me, don’t you want his good side back?” he asked. You raised an eyebrow at him.

“Like you believe in any of this, Kaiba. You told us all so many times you think it’s all bullshit,” you retorted.

“Whether I believe it or not, don’t you want him back?”

“Stop trying to prey on my emotions you asshole!” you shouted.

“Then let me try a different approach, tell me how to defeat Ra and I’ll actually get a medical helicopter out here for your precious Joey.”

“You’re a real bastard, you know that?”

“A bastard who gets what he wants. So, out with it.”

You sighed. While Kaiba was a rich, arrogant, self-centered, asshole, you knew that one of your only chances to help Joey and save Marik was to help Kaiba and Yugi find ways to defeat Marik.

“Fiend Sanctuary,” you mumbled.

“What?” he asked you, confused.

“You heard me. That card can help you beat Ra.”

“How so?”

“Don’t you know all of the Duel Monsters cards in existence? You figure it out.”

“Are you telling me the truth?”

“Why would I lie? That card can help you and Yugi defeat Ra. There you go, now time to hold up your end of the deal rich boy,” you ordered.

“Thanks for that. Yeah whatever, I’ll call your wimpey friend a medical helicopter, you’re welcome,” he said, standing up and turning towards the door.

“Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out you dickhead,” you grumbled as he left. Your friends ran back in.

“So what did he want?” asked Tea.

“To know how to beat Ra.”

“And did you tell him anything?”

“I’ll tell you the same thing I told him, I don’t know everything about Ra…but…Fiend Sanctuary is a magic card that can help,” you replied. Yugi’s eyes got big.

“Do you have that card?” he asked you. You shook your head.

“No. It’s a rare card but I bet you anything, Kaiba has it,” you sighed.

“Well I’ll see if I can get it from him after our duel,” Yugi said, sighing as well. “Speaking of, I should get going, I know Kaiba is waiting.”

“Don’t go!” shouted Tea. “So many people have been hurt already, it isn’t worth it!”

“I have to Tea or everyone has been hurt for nothing, I need to defeat Marik but first I need to deal with Kaiba,” Yugi said, turning towards the door. You tried moving off your bed but Duke and Tristan stopped you.

“Y/N, you need to rest. So many people have been hurt, we don’t want you getting hurt even more,” pleaded Duke.

“I need to be there!” you insisted, willing your body to move. It wasn’t easy, you were still in a lot of pain but your determination was strong. “A helicopter is coming for Joey, I made Kaiba promise me that,” you added, slowly getting to your feet. You were still wobbly so Yugi grabbed your arm and put it around his shoulder.

“Are you sure?” he asked. You nodded.

“I want to see you kick Kaiba’s ass to kingdom come, and I want to make sure Marik doesn’t try any bullshit,” you said through gritted teeth. “Now help me get up there so I can watch you win,” you stated, your voice firm.

“Just be careful!” said Tea, tears in her eyes.

“Keep an eye on Mai and Joey,” you replied.

“You got it,” said Serenity.

“Let’s go,” Yugi said, helping you towards the elevator of the Duel Tower.

It was time to watch Yugi win and get one step closer to saving the world.
