Chapter 1: Hazel's First Word
Chapter Text
Hazel raised her chubby little arms in hopes of being picked up. Upon seeing Lucifer she gave a grunt twitching her ears in her attempt to get his attention. “Do you want uppies!” Lucifer scooped Hazel up from her spot on the soft red blanket in the center of the floor.
“If my daughter's first word is uppies,” Alastor trailed off his threat while Thea giggled. Hazel was smart. She knew Lucifer was wrapped around her finger.
“Charlie’s first word was bah bah. Just like a cute little lamb,” he tapped Hazel’s nose. Charlie groaned. He had taken to talking about her time as a baby since Hazel’s arrival. He even brought several albums to show Vaggie.
“Say Mama,” Thea attempted to get the little girl to talk. All she did so far was grunt, squeal, and laugh. Hazel stared wide eyed, not caring to speak. As long as she received attention at her demand she saw no reason.
“She’ll talk when she’s ready,” Alastor assured watching his wife look disappointed with their daughter’s disinterest.
xxXXxx
Alastor was carrying Hazel around the kitchen as he cooked. He hummed happily as Hazel giggled. Thea walked in not loving that Alastor had Hazel so close to the stove.
“Al let me take her,” Thea offered, her arms out to take Hazel. Alastor started to hand her off when Hazel kicked yelling No. He moved to resettle her in his arms. “Did she just?” Thea looked simultaneously upset and excited by their daughter’s first words.
“It would seem so,” he smirked, snuggling his little girl. “You shouldn’t be rude to Mama. You will hurt her feelings,” Alastor handed her to Thea. She pouted with a grunt.
“No? Where could she have gotten that one. No one tells her no?” Thea looked at their pouting little girl.
“Angel No Porn in the common space!” Vaggie could be heard yelling.
“Never mind,” Thea laughed, snuggling Hazel. She snuggled back while saying no at the same time.
“It could have been something worse I suppose,” Alastor chuckled while finishing his cooking.
Chapter 2: Where?
Chapter Text
“Papa where did you live when you were my age?” Hazel asked Alastor. She had crawled up to join him in a chair in the lobby.
“I lived just outside of New Orleans.” Hazel was now the hell equivalent of human three year old. She was getting very curious about things.
“Where is New Orleans?” She was staring at him with her large eyes.
“It’s a place in the world of the living.”
“So we can’t go,” Hazel lip quivered.
“I’m afraid not my little fawn. I can take you to see Aunt Rosie later though. Cannibal Town is where I lived when I first came to Hell.” He attempted to comfort his daughter as best he could. Dottie strolled by at that moment.
“Momma, where did you live when you were little?”
“I grew up in Monroe, Louisiana,” Dottie smiled at the memory. Alastor sighed knowing what was coming next.
“Can we go there?” She looked between them hopefully.
“No honey, I'm sorry. We can’t go there. It’s on Earth, and sinners can’t go up… at least not easily.” Alastor gave his wife a knowing look.
“Why did everyone grow up there and not here?” Hazel continued her questioning.
“And who is everyone my dear?” Alastor ran his claws through her silky black hair.
“Uncle Angel, and Uncle Husk, and Miss Cherri, and Aunt Velvette, and Aunt Niffy.” She seemed ready to continue on her list when Alastor raised his hand that he had heard enough.
“I see. Your mother and I were the last to be asked, not the first.” He gave her a soft smile to assure she was not in trouble. “Did you ask Miss Charlie where she grew up?” Hazel’s eyes got wide as she slipped down from the chair rushing off to find Charlie.
“I love you.” Dottie kissed his cheek.
Chapter 3: Reading a Little Smut
Chapter Text
Hazel was now the equivalent to a thirteen year old human. She was starting to get curious about things. She snuck into her parents room. She quickly grabbed about six books randomly from the shelves. She quickly rushed to her room to hide the books.
She ran into Angel after exiting her room. She had a guilty look on her face.
“What'd you do?” He asked crossing his lower set of arms.
“Nothing,” she lied. Avoiding eye contact with the spider.
“Nope, not buying it.” Angel shook his head. Hazel groaned dragging him into her room.
“I might have stole a few of my mom’s books to read,” she admitted her face turning red.
“Is that all. I was a teenager once. I get it. What’d you swipe?” Angel waited while Hazel pulled out the six books. Immediately he saw a red A on at least two. He choked. “Umm, you read any of this yet?”
“No, I just took them. My parents left their room unlocked, so I had a chance and I took it.” Hazel looked proud.
“Oh thank fuck!” Angel grabbed for the stack of books.
“Hey, I thought you said it was okay?” Hazel held tight to the stack of books.
“Well it is, just not these two.” Angel managed to pull the two marked with red A’s from her grasp.
“What’s wrong with those two?” Hazel looked skeptical that the two books could be so bad.
“Well your mom writes some really dirty stuff. Like some adults don’t even read it,” Angel tried to make it sound believable.
“So it’s a book. It’s not like I’m going out to try it for myself!” She yelled trying to grab the books back.
“You’re not getting these two back, and if you try to take them again. I’ll tell your parents everything!” Angel yelled in anger at the teen before storming down to the bar books still in hand.
“You okay? I heard you and the kid,” Husk asked pouring Angel a drink.
“She is pissed at me,” Angel grumbled, setting the books on the bar. Husk raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t have the heart to tell her. She almost read smut starring her parents.”
“These them?” Husk glanced at the books.
“Yeah, I gotta figure a way to put them back without ratting out the kid.”
“Alastor locks his room at all times,” Husk grumbled, throwing a rag over the books in case anyone walked by.
“Thea doesn’t though. That’s how the kid got them,” Angel explained.
“Did you check it before you came down?” Husk glanced upstairs.
“No but tall, thin, and creepy should be off the air soon, so he’ll be checking it soon,” Angel and Husk knew better than to risk Alastor catching them in his room.
“Sounds like you have to catch it after Thea leaves for work.”
“Yeah, but she might remember to lock it.”
“True, but I don’t like those books being down here.” Husk moved them underneath the bar.
“Fine, we’ll just get her running late and she’ll forget.” Angel grinned at the plan.
“We better mean you,” grumbled Husk.
“Oh come on kitty cat, help a guy out.” Angel ran his finger down his chest.
xxXXxx
It was day three of trying to throw Thea off her routine enough to cause her to run late. The first day she had proved herself too well prepared for their nonsense and the second had been thwarted by Alastor simply snapping his fingers to retrieve her forgotten belongings. Today, they enlisted Charlie to distract Alastor while Angel reminded her of a forgotten item up in her bedroom. Thea rushed upstairs to get it. Soon she was back down stairs and out the door. Angel looked to Husk. He retrieved the stashed books following Angel up the stairs. Sure enough the door was unlocked. The two snuck in quickly. Husk handed Angel the two books.
“Fuck where did she even pull these from?” Angel and Husk looked over the shelves trying to find any opening.
“Looking for something Husker?” A green chain appeared around his neck as Alastor reeled in the former overlord.
“He was just helping me!” Angel was quick to defend him.
“Is that so? And what led you to need help in my bedroom?” Alastor’s eyes flicked to radio dials momentarily.
“We were returning some books,” Angel sat the books down on a desk hoping Alastor wouldn’t recognize them. No such luck.
“Why did you have these?” Alastor now held the two books recognizing the small red A.
“Thea lent them to me.” Angel lied.
“You should know better than to lie to the radio demon,” Alastor yanked the green chain again. Husk was now choking for air.
“Hazel took ‘em,” Angel choked out moving to grab Husk. Alastor released him.
“Explain,” Alastor waited ready to resume the torture if necessary.
“She’s getting curious about things. She knows Thea writes about sex, so she stole some books… I saw she had some of those.” Angel pointed to the red A. “And I took'em before she could read them.”
“Why didn’t you just return them to Thea or I?” Alastor clicked his tongue waiting.
“Because I didn’t want to rat the kid out. She’s embarrassed,” answered honestly.
“And are these all my daughter took?”
“She’s got like four more, but none have a red A.”
“I see… get out.” Husk and Angel did not have to be told twice.
xxXXxx
Upon Thea’s return home she ran into Niffy.
“Alastor is waiting for you upstairs!” She giggled her eye looking crazy.
“Thanks Niffy,” Thea adored the little gremlin of a girl. Once to their room, she found Alastor looking bothered.
“Al you okay?” She moved to rest a hand on his shoulder.
“Our daughter took these a few days ago along with at least four others.” Alastor handed her the books. Thea’s face turned crimson. “Angel and Husker retrieved these two before she could read them, but I am unsure what else she took.” Alastor gave credit to the two intruders.
“Thank god. You scared me.” Thea looked relieved. Angel knew the red A’s were personal. “I’ll have to thank them later.” Thea moved to the shelves to see if she could identify what other books her daughter took. “I wish she just would have asked. I could have given her stuff I knew was appropriate.”
“Apparently she is embarrassed to talk about such things with us.” Alastor continued to look agitated. Hazel had always been a daddy’s girl.
“She a teen it’s natural. So far two of the ones she took are fine.” Alastor watched as she marked the spots of the missing books. “Third is actually one I would have recommended, and four… fuck.” Thea swallowed audibly.
“What?” He raised an eyebrow.
“She took a breeding book,” Thea looked panicked. “I mean it’s fine to read when you’re older, but that’s not a intro to sex book!” Thea started muttering about how to get it back.
Alastor stood heading toward their daughter’s room. Thea followed behind once she realized he left the room. He knocked on their daughter’s door.
“What’s up?” Hazel looked between her always smiling father and her nearly panicking mother.
“It has come to our attention you were in our room.” Alastor stated the facts.
“What don’t be silly.” She tried to smile through her nerves.
“Your mother would like the books returned.” Alastor put out his hand waiting. Hazel hung her head knowing she was busted. She walked over retrieving the four hidden books. She placed them in his waiting hand. “Thank you. You are welcome to read books from your mothers collection, but please ask to make sure they are appropriate.” Alastor turned walking away with the books.
“Did you get a chance to read any of those?” Thea asked.
“I got about half way through the one on top… did Angel tell on me?”
“No it sounded like he got caught returning the other two you took.” Thea tried to stay calm, but until she made sure which book was on top that wasn’t going to happen.
“I’m sorry mama.” Hazel hugged her.
“No, it’s fine. We just want you to talk to us,” Thea gave her daughter a squeeze.
Back in the room, she took the books from Alastor. “Thank the lord. Top one isn’t it.” She quickly found the book moving to put it back on the shelf. “I’ll pull her a couple and take them back to her.” Alastor nodded his approval. “Thank you for handling this.” She gave Alastor a kiss on the cheek.
“Not a problem my dear,” he watched her make quick work of pulling and organizing the books. Even grabbing a bookmark or two to give their daughter.
Chapter 4: Heels
Summary:
Very Short Chapter
Chapter Text
Hazel slipped on the heels. She would get the hang of this if it was the last thing she did. Her mother could flutter around in six inch heels like it was nothing. Hazel was still trying to grasp walking in any heels at all. Today she was doing well. That was until she got to the stairs.
She fell.
Alastor caught her quickly keeping her from injuring herself on the stairs.
“Are you alright my little fawn?” He stood her up at the bottom of the stairs.
“I’m fine,” she answered. The only thing hurt was her pride. She headed toward the bar to sit with Angel.
“You don’t need those ya know,” Angel tried to cheer the teen up.
“My mom can walk in them why can’t I,” she pouted while Husk poured her some juice at the bar.
“Your mom was a secretary back in the day of housewives. She is gonna walk like a badass… you got smiles legs. you don’t need the heels.”
“I just want to feel hot,” Hazel mumbled. Husk rolled his eyes.
“You got legs for days and your mom’s rack trust me kid you’re a knock out.” Angel squeezed her shoulder in support. Hazel blushed zipping up her baggy hoodie in an attempt to hide her chest.
Chapter 5: Night Out
Chapter Text
Hazel managed to sneak out of the hotel. She was nearly full grown, and she decided she was going out. She went to a club. A random man gave her a shot. She giggled dancing away with some random people she didn’t know.
xxXXxx
Valentino was enjoying the company of a few ladies. "You could be stars if your willing to try your hand at a little dirty work." Val froze. He saw Hazel being hoisted onto a table to dance for all to see.
He quickly grabbed his phone tapping to video call Thea.
“Val are you drunk?” Thea was confused it was barely 11.
“No, but I want you to know, I had nothing to do with this!” He turned his camera view to the other direction. Hazel was dancing on a table.
“Get her down now!” Thea was livid.
“You and Alastor owe me,” the moth stood walking over to the table grabbing the equivalent to 17 year old teen. The fresh drink in her hand spilling.
“Hey man, she isn’t interested in you!” One guy yelled. Hazel recognized Valentino and knew she was screwed.
“Listen here you little shit. I have more important things to worry about than you!” He breathed his pink smoke choking out a few of the men.
“Val anyway I could convince you not to call my parents?” Hazel looked nervous as she sat beside the overlord toward the back of the club.
“I already called your mother. You are one lucky chica. Those sinners would have torn you apart.” He shook his head now having to babysit the teen.
“I was fine.” Hazel attempted to defend her actions.
“That drink I spilt when I grabbed you was drugged,” Val looked annoyed the girl didn’t seem to realize the danger she was in.
“I. I didn’t know… why would they?”
“Sex, torture, slavery. All possibilities. If you come out here again, you better not be alone.” Valentino sighed. She was too young to understand Hell to its fullest.
xxXXxx
Thea was rushing down stairs pulling on clothes as she went. “Where's the fire?” laughed Lucifer.
“Probably the club on main if Alastor finds out,” Thea grumbled pulling on her shoes.
“Whoa, what happened?”
“Hazel snuck out and Valentino called me.”
“I’m coming with.” Lucifer followed out after Thea. He grabbed her hand opening a portal for them straight to the club.
“Thank goodness you’re alright!” Thea looked over her daughter. Hazel pinned back her ears in embarrassment.
“I’m fine… Uncle Val made sure.” Hazel hugged the moth. Thea looked surprised. Velvette had the status of aunt but Val and Vox were not usually called uncle.
“Thank you.” Lucifer offered his hand to the moth overlord.
“Not a problem your highness.”
Lucifer transported them to right outside the hotel. “Does Papa know?” Hazel looked nervously between Lucifer and her mother.
“Is a whole city block on fire?” Thea held the door open for her daughter. Once inside, a strong static could be heard.
“Shit,” muttered Hazel.
“What were you thinking?” Alastor appeared his antlers large, shadow lashing out behind him.
“I just wanted to have fun,” she stared at the floor.
“Who even told you?” Thea asked unsure how her husband found out so quickly.
“That was my bad,” Angel yelled from the other room. “A video got posted and.”
“A video?” Hazel cut him off looking mortified.
“Yeah, it’s called Radio Princess All Grown Up.” Angel handed her the phone. She could be seen dancing on the table until Val swooped in to save her. Her appearance in the video made the screen glitch a few times. A trait she inherited from her father.
“Upstairs now,” Alastor hissed. Hazel rushed up the stairs looking ashamed. Alastor started out the door.
“Val handled it,” Thea grabbed his arm.
“Are they still breathing?” Alastor snarled.
“I think so.”
“Then the moth didn’t fucking handle it.” Alastor pulled his arm away heading for the club.
“Do you want me to go after him?” Lucifer looked at Thea. She merely shook her head.
xxXXxx
Once at the club, Alastor found Valentino.
“Are those the men?” Val jumped at the radio demon’s sudden appearance.
“Yeah, the last of them are coming to.”
“Anything I should be aware of?”
“The taller shark tried to drug her,” Val informed him. Val had been thinking of killing the sinner for his actions, but with Alastor here, he didn’t have to get his hands dirty.
xxXXxx
Hazel watched the news on her phone as news of the club’s destruction broke. She knew her father would likely be broadcasting screams late into the night. She sighed before moving to sketch on her tablet. It had been a gift from Velvette.
She wasn’t good at writing like her mother or smooth with words like her father, but she could draw. It was the one thing she felt good at.
Chapter 6: Micah
Summary:
Shorts are over. This is the start of the long story.
Chapter Text
Hazel had snuck away. She had her sketchbook and a few pencils. She was relaxing in an abandoned building sketching the things that caught her interest. Suddenly she saw someone enter the room. Shadows lunged at the figure.
“Hey sorry thought the place was vacant,” the man held his hands up in surrender. Hazel eyed him for a moment before reeling in her shadows. “I’m Micah,” he extended a hand for her to shake.
“Hazel,” she introduced herself. She made no movement to get up from her cross legged spot on the ground. He stared at her eyes for a few minutes.
“Shit you’re the halfa!”
“My mother says that’s a slur,” Hazel continued to sketch while taking in the sinner’s appearance. He had shaggy brown hair, wore a black t-shirt and ripped up dark jeans.
“My bad. So what are you up to?” Micah moved to sit next to her.
“I’m sketching.” She ignored him for the most part.
“But why in an abandoned building?”
“Because no one stares at me or comments on my actions.” She glared at him. He was ruining the point of her hide out.
“I get it… I lay low around here. My brother is a big name, so it’s nice to get to be myself.” He wrapped an arm around her shoulder. Hazel pulled away. She thought he was cute, but something about him made her nervous.
“Who is your brother?”
“No one you have heard of,” he tried to play it off.
“Try me?” If his brother was as big of a deal as he acted, he was likely an overlord.
“Samael,” he smiled waiting to see if the name rang a bell.
“Never heard of him.” She stared at the man. He looked relieved.
“Good, he’s an ass.” He laid down on the ground. She gave a light laugh at his antics.
Chapter 7: True Colors
Chapter Text
Hazel was an adult, a young one, but still an adult. She still snuck out of the hotel in order to avoid answering questions about where she was going or who she was seeing. She had been hanging out with Micah for the last several months. Their relationship was starting to turn physical, and she was starting to get excited about the idea of having sex. Micah had been acting softer and more romantic. She felt like she was in one of her mother’s books. Then suddenly she wasn’t. Micah had asked if they could go all the way, and Hazel had agreed, but then he changed.
“You’re beautiful,” He pinned her down.
“Wait. Stop.” But suddenly this weak man was strong enough to keep her pinned. Her shadows weren’t working. There was no foreplay, no prep. She was used. He fucked into her full force not caring it was her first time. He fucked until his release not giving her any pleasure. She felt as though she couldn’t breathe. Slowly, she lost consciousness.
Hazel woke up her tights shredded. Micah was nowhere to be found. She felt sick and ashamed. She threw the tights in her backpack before heading back to the hotel.
“So who’s the guy?” Angel asked, seeing Hazel sneak back in.
“No one.” She rushed up the stairs. Once there she took a long scalding shower.
xxXXxx
Lucifer ran into a worried looking Angel at the bar.
“What’s wrong?”
“I think Hazel got dumped?”
“What do you mean? She hasn’t been dating anyone.” Lucifer glanced up the stairs toward Hazel’s room.
“You and the rents are blind. She has been leaving here all dressed up for months. Then today she comes back, and she looks like she has been crying. I ask her about the guy and she runs.” Angel sighed.
“Poor thing.” Lucifer was already heading up the stairs to find Hazel. He felt guilty. He was supposed to protect her, and some loser broke her heart. He knocked on her door.
“Come in,” Hazel was on her bed, hair dripping wet. She was in sweat pants and an oversized shirt.
“Hey,” he gave a little wave.
“Hi Uncle Lucifer,” she greeted him but did not meet his gaze.
“Hey kiddo. You doing okay?” Lucifer sat on the edge of the bed.
“I. I. Why do people act like they like you when they just want something from you!?!” She nearly shouted, finally getting it off her chest.
“Some people are just trash. Especially in hell… you liked the guy, huh?” He held her hand.
“He just wanted sex! He pretended to know me and share my interests for months just for a chance at sex. He makes my skin crawl.” She shivered thinking about what happened.
“Hell may not have the best dating pool in the world, but you will find someone worth your time. I promise.” Lucifer hugged her.
Chapter 8: Independence
Chapter Text
Since Hazel’s break up, Alastor and Thea had noticed her pulling away from them.
Rosie had helped her to get a job selling art and installing murals throughout hell. She had mentioned wanting to live on her own away from the hotel.
“Have you noticed Hazel has been wearing overalls or that ridiculous poncho most of the time” Thea mentioned it to Angel. He shrugged. Something was going on, but Thea couldn’t put her finger on it.
xxXXxx
A scream alerted Alastor and Thea that something was wrong. They rushed into Hazel’s room. Alastor broke the lock in his haste. She was lying in the bed screaming in pain. Thea moved to check over her daughter. She quickly found what Hazel had been hiding. Her stomach was round, and there was fluid between her legs.
“Alastor give us a minute?” She shooed him out of the room.
“When did this happen sweetheart?” She tried to sit her daughter up.
“I’m sorry. Mama I’m so sorry.” Hazel sobbed clinging to her mother.
“I’m not mad sweetie. I just didn’t know you had a boyfriend.” Thea tried to calm her.
“I don’t… sex is awful and I am stupid.” Hazel continued to sob. Thea shushed her, holding her tight.
Alastor waited out in the hall impatiently. Dottie joined him looking angry. “Dottie?”
“Our daughter is traumatized, where is Lucifer? I need him to get her something. She isn’t handling the pain well at all.”
xxXXxx
Lucifer got her something for the pain. Once Hazel could breathe, she spoke to her mother again.
“So who’s the dad?”
“His name is Micah.” Hazel wouldn’t meet her gaze.
“Did you at least have fun?” Thea tried to make light of the situation.
“No… it was awful, and it hurt really bad.” Hazel finally made eye contact.
“I’m sorry sweetheart. You can tell the guy to stop if it’s bad. You don’t have to take it.” Thea stroked her hair.
“I did tell him to stop. He just pinned me down and did what he wanted,” Hazel was starting to cry again.
“And this was nine months ago?” Thea tried to hide her rage.
“It was only five,” Hazel answered, knowing it made no sense.
Thea returned to the hallway. “I’m going to attempt to find this Micah guy,” Thea informed Alastor. He raised an eyebrow. Out of the two, he tended to be the one that hunted down those who wronged them. “She needs someone to keep her calm. And you know you’re better at calming her down.” Alastor couldn’t disagree with that. Thea turned to Lucifer. He looked as though something was bothering him. “She says she is only five months along.” Lucifer nodded at the information before heading back to check on Hazel. Alastor settled into the bed behind Hazel allowing her to lean against him and squeeze his hand as needed.
Thea headed straight for the Vees. If anyone could find someone in this town, it was the Vees. They had cameras in all the clubs and all throughout their territory.
xxXXxx
Lucifer felt an odd energy coming from Hazel. He had started to feel it a few months back, but he had assumed it was coming from her winner genes. But now finding out about the baby, he was worried it was coming from the child.
xxXXxx
“It’s like the guy just appeared and disappeared at random.” Vox and the rest of the Vees had started running facial recognition once they finally found a shot of the young man with Hazel about six months back.
“Looks like he hasn’t been seen in five months,” Vox would review the software again, but so far he wasn’t liking the results.
“Maybe he’s dead,” Velvette suggested looking ready to kill the man herself.
“If he’s not,” Val licked his pistol.
“Let me know if you find anything else,” Thea left the Vees to manage the hunt.
xxXXxx
“You’re getting close Hazel,” Lucifer was checking her dilation.
Alastor dabbed her forehead with a damp cloth.
“I’m sorry papa,” she whispered, squeezing his hand.
“Little fawn, you have nothing to be sorry for,” he kissed her temple.
“You can push now,” Lucifer moved down to help guide the baby out. He saw blonde hair matted with blood. The head was out when the baby stopped.
“It hurts really bad,” Hazel sobbed.
“The baby’s arm is probably stuck. Don’t push yet,” Lucifer moved to figure out what was holding up the baby. He froze. If what he was feeling was correct, the baby was definitely the source of the energy. “You can push now.”
Thea had gotten back just in time. She helped Hazel brace her leg.
“It’s a boy!” Lucifer looked down at the blonde little boy with three sets of wings.
Lucifer had barely laid down the baby before he was slammed against the wall. Alastor’s full demon form showing through as he attacked the king of hell.
“You were supposed to protect her!” The amount of radio static in the room made the baby wail.
Hazel looked drained, but she wouldn’t let her dad kill her uncle. “Papa, he didn’t do anything!” She tried to stand. She spared a glance at her son. He was blood covered, but definitely blonde. His white and gold angel wings sparkled.
“Al calm down,” Thea pulled at the large demon.
Lucifer snarled, eyes turning red in his efforts to keep Alastor from killing him. He knew this reaction was coming as soon as he saw the child.
“The only person I had sex with was Micah!” Hazel shouted again.
Alastor dropped the king of hell. He looked back at his grandson. Upon realizing his static was upsetting the child he dialed it back. The child calmed at the new level of noise.
“Do you wanna hold him?” Thea started to pick up her grandson to hand to her daughter.
“No… not yet,” Hazel stepped back from the baby.
Thea nodded her understanding. She started scrubbing the blood off him. She smiled realizing he had inherited the ears of Hazel and Alastor.
“You said the guy was named Micah?” Lucifer clarified straightening his clothes.
“That’s what he told me,” Hazel was now curling into a ball in her bed.
“The Vees said he hasn’t been seen in five months. And when he was around they said he would just disappear.” Thea informed them.
Lucifer frowned looking at the little boy. “Did he tell you anything else?”
“He said he had a brother named Samael.” Lucifer froze. He moved to look at the child again. He had small blue triangles on his cheeks.
“That bastard!” Lucifer was now close to spitting fire as he headed to the clock tower.
Chapter 9: Who's the dad?
Chapter Text
“Lucifer why was this meeting needed so urgently?” Sera and Emily waited to hear him speak.
“Why are Angels being allowed to come down to Hell without my knowledge?” He was in full demon form waiting for a response.
“No angel has been allowed to hell in years,” Sera did not look amused.
“Even my older brother?” Lucifer hissed.
“Michael is far too busy to be bothering hell,” Sera wondered what proof Lucifer had to be making such outrageous claims.
“I have a newborn with his angelic markings that says otherwise.” Sera’s eyes went large. Emily looked confused between the two.
“I though sinners couldn’t have babies?”
“My god daughter is the mother of the child,” Lucifer grumbled.
“But why didn’t we hear about it like with Thea?” Emily asked Sera who still looked stunned.
“It could have to be hidden, and the only person powerful enough to hide things from the seraphim would be.”
“Either God or a Seraphim themselves,” Sera finished the thought.
xxXXxx
“She still don't wanna see him?” Angel looked at the little boy sleeping in Charlie’s arms.
“No, she’s not ready yet. I’m sure she’ll come around.”
xxXXxx
“Mama I just don’t think I can look at him.” Hazel was crying in Her mother’s arms.
“What were you going to do when he got here?” Thea asked stroking her back. Hazel had hid the pregnancy, so surely she had a plan.
“I thought I had more time… but I was going to raise him in my own place… I thought he would look more like me.” Thea sighed the distance Hazel had been putting between them made a bit more sense.
“He has your ears and your father’s static,” Thea attempted to settle her own baby.
“But he looks like a man I don’t even know.”
“He is yours though… if you want him…” Thea wasn’t sure what they could do with him if she didn’t, but she would worry about that once she made a decision.
xxXXxx
Alastor brought her his grandson. Hazel finally took a good look at him. He had blond hair like Charlie and Lucifer, but it was curly with two fuzzy ear hidden among it. He had three sets of gold and white wings. His skin tone was quite a bit paler than hers, but not as white as Lucifer or Charlie’s. He had small blue triangles underneath his eyes. The way they were placed they looked like down arrows. Hazel touched them timidly. He opened his large eyes to stare at her. He had the bluest eyes she had ever seen. Once it was quiet, she heard a tiny static noise.
“Is that him?” She asked, looking at her father. Alastor nodded. He started crying after a moment or two of being awake. “What does he want?” Hazel asked panicking. Thea stopped Alastor from taking him back.
“He may be hungry,” Thea suggested. Hazel nodded, it made sense. Her chest hurt hearing his wails. It didn’t take him long to latch. His ears pinned back as he ate to his heart’s content.
“He’s beautiful,” Hazel seemed to finally be forming a connection to the little boy. She seemed to be thinking. “Mama, where are you from again?”
“Monroe,” Thea watched her daughter think.
“Can I name him Monroe?” Hazel looked nervously at her parents.
“Of course,” Thea hugged the two while Alastor stood back with a gentle smile on his face.
xxXXxx
“Michael says he hasn’t been to hell.”
“Well inform him that he has a son, and if he thinks he can waltz down there again he is mistaken.” Lucifer left to return to the hotel.
Once back at the hotel, Charlie tackled him with a happy squeal. “Hazel named him Monroe.”
“That’s great Char.” He glanced around.
Alastor and Thea were waiting for and explanation.
“By his looks and markings, I believe his father is Michael.” Lucifer laid it out for them.
“Like archangel Michael?” Thea asked moving to hold Alastor’s hand.
“Yes, and my older brother. Hence the resemblance,” he gestured to his hair, skin, and wings.
“Why would your older brother be lurking around hell?” Vaggie asked. By now everyone was aware of the assault.
“Likely because he is bored. He always saw Hell as lesser… I informed Heaven and hopefully he will face repercussions for his actions.”
“They won’t take him?” Thea looked worried.
“I doubt they would,” Lucifer sighed. “Can I see my nephew?” He asked looking at Alastor and Thea. They stepped aside allowing him to enter.
“That means he’s my cousin!” Charlie seemed to be on cloud nine.
xxXXxx
“So Micah wasn’t a real person?”
“It was likely a disguise Michael was using to blend into Hell.” Lucifer stared at the little boy. He was adorable with his blond curls and ears.
Chapter 10: Visit from Heaven
Chapter Text
1 year later
There was a knock at the hotel. Charlie grinned grabbing the door. The party has dying down. There stood a man in white. He had dirty blonde curly hair and gold circles on his cheeks.
“Umm, are you Charlie?”
“Yes?” She opened the door further. Lucifer was walking by when he stopped in his tracks.
“Raphael?”
“Lucifer,” he waved to his brother. “I wanted to meet my niece and nephew.” He gave Charlie a smile.
“Well this my daughter Charlie. Charlie, this is my little brother Raphael.” Charlie hugged the shorter man. He was taller than Lucifer, but not by much.
“You just missed Monroe’s party, but I think he is still awake.” Charlie was pulling the man along to find Hazel. Monroe had just passed out leaning against his mothers chest. Two sets of his wings were folded, but third had one wing twitching in his sleep.
Raphael stared at Hazel and Monroe. There was no denying the father. The angelic energy in the room alone was unsettling.
“Can I help you?” Raphael glanced over to who was speaking. It was a tall man with red and black hair, an unnatural smile, and two ears on the top of his head.
“I was hoping to meet my nephew,” Raphael hoped that was enough for the demon. He glanced between the Hazel and Monroe and the man. “Are you related?” He asked, noticing the ears as well as Hazel’s long legs.
“My daughter and her son,” Alastor grabbed the man’s shoulder roughly leading him over to Hazel.
“So this is the man of the hour,” Raphael attempted to start a conversation with the young mother.
“Yeah, this is my son Monroe,” Hazel turned so Raphael could get a better look at his sleeping face.
“Monroe.” Raphael repeated eyeing the little boy.
“And you are?” Alastor asked still keeping his hand on the man.
“Raphael.” He shook the demon’s hand.
“Alastor,” he introduced himself.
“I’m Hazel.” She offered the hand not holding her son.
“It’s nice to meet you all. I apologize this hadn’t happened sooner… May I?” Raphael asked to hold the child. Hazel looked surprised. This was the first Angel other than Emily to show any interest in her son. She handed the one year old over. He was careful of his wings. “Is he starting to fly yet?”
“He flaps, but it seems to be more for entertainment.” Hazel explained. As if on cue one wing flapped in his sleep. The man chuckled.
“He is very cute,” he observed the markings cheeks adding to the list of damning evidence that this child was Michael’s. Lucifer joined the group surprised to see his brother holding the little boy.
“Can we speak for a moment?” Lucifer eyed his brother.
“Yes just let me,” he moved to hand the baby back to Hazel. He followed after Lucifer back to what seemed to be an office.
“Care to tell me why you are here?” Lucifer waited patiently.
Raphael sighed before answering.
“I’m here for multiple reasons… one being to confirm my suspicions, two to alleviate my guilt, and three at our father’s request.” Lucifer froze. He hadn’t heard God was back in town.
“What does dad want?”
“He wanted confirmation of his grandchildren and their health.” Raphael gave an exhausted smile.
“But he didn’t want to meet them himself?”
“You know dad. If he decides to meet them, it will be on his turf on his terms.”
“What suspicions were you here about?”
“Michael has made some claims,” Raphael moved to peek out of the office to see if anyone was listening.
“And what were they?” Lucifer pushed the door back closed.
“That his son Micah is a powerful little boy being raised by demons.”
“Micah?”
“Yes, it would seem he doesn’t even know his son’s name.”
“That was his cover name when he assaulted Hazel.” Lucifer commented. Raphael frozen. “You didn’t know?”
“The only thing I knew was Michael mentioned his son and the mother of his child quite a bit, but never gave much detail.”
“And you meeting the child for ten minutes gave you more information than he had?” He eyed his brother.
“You know Michael… do you think he wouldn’t have mentioned his son having three sets of wings or that strong of an aura?” Raphael smirked.
“What does he say?”
“He knows he has wings. I assume through Emily or Sera. He knows he developed fast due to his strength… other than that it all seems to be fabricated. Even down to the name.”
xxXXxx
Monroe had gotten a second wind before Raphael left. He demanded to be held by him.
“I’m sorry. He usually only acts like this with my parents and Charlie.” Hazel handed over her son.
“He knows family,” he chuckled. “Do you allow my brother to fly with him?” Hazel cocked her head to the side.
“Oh you mean Lucifer? He does occasionally, but it makes Charlie nervous.”
“But not you?”
“He has to learn how to use them. Like I had to learn how to use shadows,” she shrugged.
“Shadows?” He raised an eyebrow. Dark shadows tentacles raised from behind Hazel. Monroe clapped happily. A loud static screech could be heard. “Is that coming from him?”
“Yeah, my papa is the radio demon.” Hazel blushed trying to explain her son’s odd quirks.
Raphael smiled pulling his own wings out to fly him and Monroe toward the raised ceiling of the hotel lobby.
“No, no, no!” Charlie came running. Hazel laughed using her shadows to raise her up to the two.
Seeing his mother join them Monroe’s static only increased.
Lucifer laughed from the ground trying to calm Charlie. Raphael floated back down moving to hand Charlie Monroe. He tugged on Raphael not wanting to be passed off.
“I’m sorry Charlie. He must have really liked flying. Buddy come here,” Monroe pouted not wanting his mother either.
Alastor appeared from the shadows, his static audible upon his appearance. Monroe grinned, moving to ask for his grandfather. Raphael handed him over to the tall smiling sinner.
“He loves his pawpaw,” Thea giggle following after husband.
“Maybe, I’ll visit again.” Raphael smiled at them giving his older brother a hug.
“Sure, keep in touch.” Lucifer hugged him back.
xxXXxx
“So the trip was informative?” God glanced at his son. Raphael was the most reliable of the four. Michael was brazen and full of himself, Lucifer was a rebellious dreamer, and Gabriel was his strong willed youngest.
“Yes. I saw Lucifer and his daughter as well as Michael’s son.” Raphael was hesitant with how much to share. Lucifer and Michael had always been favorites of their father.
“How old is Charlie now?” God took a drink of his wine.
“She’s an adult.” Raphael knew God had been out of the loop for awhile, but this was ridiculous.
“But Micah is still little right?” His father attempted to recover.
“Monroe is one year old,” Raphael corrected the name.
“Me dammit I thought Michael said his name was Micah.” God grumbled rubbing his temple.
“He did, but assaulting a woman and leaving her pregnant, doesn’t give him the right to name her child,” Raphael let the information settle.
“Fuck!” God slammed down the wine glass. “Go get fucking Michael, now!” Raphael left to retrieve his oldest brother.
xxXXxx
Michael was crafting weaponry and working with the exorcists in skills to protect Heaven. Raphael gave his brother a slight wave.
“Brother did you come to try your hand, or you just here to lend a healing hand,” Michael quipped. Raphael sighed.
“I need you for a bit,” he didn’t want to mention their father in front of the exorcists.
“Sure, whatever you need.” He handed his weapon off flying over to Raphael, so they could take their leave. “What were you needing?”
“Father wants a word with you?” Raphael tried to avoid Michael’s prying glaze as they headed for their father’s office.
xxXXxx
“What the fuck were you thinking?” Raphael held back a laugh. His father hadn’t even explained why he was yelling. “I aught to cast you out for your fucking actions. You’re me damn lucky that the place I usually cast people is the last place to want your ass!”
“What did I… I’m sorry?” Michael still wasn’t piecing things together, but he knew their father was pissed.
“You didn’t even know the kid’s name! You made me sound like a fucking moron asking about my grandson, by the wrong me damn name!” God kept ranting.
“Oh this is about Micah? I didn’t want to leave him down with the sinners, but you know since he is part sinner, it is really the safest for him,” Michael quickly started his sob story of missing his son.
God swallowed down the rest of the wine in his glass like a shot slamming it down on the table. The glass instantly refilled itself. “Tell me about how you came to conceive Micah with a sinner.”
“I was investigating hell. Seeing all the work Lucifer and Charlie had put into the place. When I ran into a young lady, she was breathtaking. I gave into sin. I knew she was the half breed we had planned on killing years ago, but I assumed a creature like that must of been sterile. It seems I was wrong. Just a few months later, she gave birth to my son.” Raphael tried his best not to glare at his brother for his tall tale.
“Interesting. Raphael care to correct your brother on a few things,” God motioned for Raphael to take over the conversation.
“You were in disguise. You assaulted the young woman. You never even told her your real name. You abandoned her, and then had the nerve to attempt to name the child the name you used when you assaulted her.” Raphael tried to keep himself calm. God almost spit out his wine at this new detail.
“How the fuck would you know?” Michael now loomed over his younger brother.
“Because I met them!” Raphael was now yelling back.
“I thought Hell was off limits now.” Michael snapped towards their father for an explanation.
“It is for you. I sent Raphael down to do a little check in on the grands. He said Charlie is good. Monroe just had a birthday.” God moved between his sons.
“Who the fuck is Monroe?”
“Your son, dip shit!”
God put up his hand to stop their shouting. “The young lady named the boy Monroe.” God clarified.
“I don’t like that name,” Michael started to argue.
“If you wanted an opinion, then maybe you shouldn’t have been a piece of shit,” God pointed out. “You know what get the fuck out. I’ll deal with you later.” God pointed Michael toward the door. Once he left, God turned to Raphael. “Any chance the young lady would want to bring him up for a visit?”
“Maybe, but it will take time to build her trust. She trusts Lucifer though.”
“Really, they know each other?” God took a more relaxed sip of his wine.
“She’s his god daughter.”
“Of fucking course she is.” Their father rubbed his temple.
Chapter 11: Return Visit
Chapter Text
Raphael was ordered to visit the hotel regularly. As soon as he arrived on his first return visit, Lucifer swept him away.
“Dad update now,” he ordered.
“He is pissed at Michael now that he knows the truth.” Raphael wasn’t sure if he should mention the information he withheld from their father.
“Good, let him be in the doghouse for once,” Lucifer laughed. Then noticed Raphael hesitation. “What?”
“Michael had been using an excuse that Monroe was weak as an excuse to keep him out of Heaven.”
“And you told Dad that he’s divine?”
“No, but it is only a matter of time before he finds out. Right now he is concerned with how comfortable Hazel would be with letting him meet Monroe.”
“Michael is never meeting Monroe,” Lucifer growled.
“No, not meet Michael. Meet dad.” Raphael put his hands up in defense.
“Dad wants to meet Monroe?”
“And Charlie. The problem is when he meets Monroe he is going to notice the amount of divine energy he is putting off. I’m surprised the hotel hasn’t had more issues.”
“I live here. I think that deters most people, plus the number of overlords who would go to war for Thea and Hazel.” Lucifer shrugged.
“Overlords?”
“Oh I guess you didn’t get the rundown last time you were here. Sinners gain power by purchasing souls. Once they have enough souls under their control, they become an overlord.”
“Really and these overlords care about Hazel and her mother.”
“Being that Alastor is one, yes.”
“Really?” Raphael thought of the tall smiling man that the child had been so excited to be held by.
“Yes, and Thea works for the Vees who are another group of overlords. Then there is Hazel’s god mother Rosie. She is the overlord over Cannibal Town.” Lucifer started to ramble.
“Okay I get it. The issue is Dad will notice, and when he does, he may push for him to go to Heaven.”
“But he has no issue with Charlie?”
“You are still incredibly strong, but you are cut off from Heaven. Monroe is able to channel divine energy in a way that would be astounding even for a Heaven born.” Raphael hoped he made sense.
“And why are you down here?”
“Dad wants regular visits in an effort to encourage Hazel to allow Dad to meet his grandson. I am also here to encourage Charlie to not hate Heaven,” he tried to give his brother a smile.
“Good luck with that,” Lucifer laughed pulling his brother out after him. The first person they ran into was Thea. She was holding Monroe.
“Dottie?” Alastor called from the kitchen. Monroe was already reaching for Raphael.
“Do you mind? His wings are a mess in the kitchen.” He nodded, taking the little boy. Monroe spread his six wings looking at Raphael expectantly. He raised an eyebrow before extending his own wings. The boy giggled.
“He loves this game. Only Husk, Vaggie, and I can play it with him though.”
“What game?”
“Wings. He wants you to mirror his wing movement.” Suddenly his actions made more sense. He was extending and flapping his wings. Raphael mirrored the movements. The giggles elevated to excited squeals.
“Dad, is he okay?” Charlie rushed over to check on her cousin.
“He’s fine,” Lucifer knew Charlie was very protective of her little cousin.
“I thought Thea had him?”
“She didn’t want him in the kitchen.”
“Here I’ll take him,” Charlie attempted to take Monroe, but he held tight to Raphael.
“Dadadadada,” he jabbered. Charlie froze. Lucifer started laughing.
“What’s so funny? Does he usually call someone else dada?” Raphael asked confused.
“That’s his first word. Hazel! Alastor!” Charlie now went running to find them.
Alastor and Thea came running. Alastor’s hair was pinned back into a ponytail, and he was wearing an apron instead of his suit jacket. “What’s wrong?” Alastor asked looking over his grandson.
“Dadadada!” Monroe yelled happily pulling at Raphael’s shirt.
“Oh honey. That’s Uncle Raphael,” Thea explained softly.
“Did you mention his father?” Alastor eyed him suspiciously.
“No! Of course not,” he assured them. Hazel and Charlie came running down the stairs at that moment.
“Monroe, sweet boy. Did you say your first word?” Hazel scooped him into her paint stained arms.
“Dadadadada!” He yelled.
“Wow, no mama?” She asked, giving him a tight squeeze.
“Dadada!” He yelled again pointing at Raphael.
“Close, but no buddy,” Hazel gave him an awkward smile as she settled her son. “Sorry, I’m not sure where he got Dada. I call my dad papa.”
“That’s probably on me,” Charlie raised her hand apologetically. She did call Lucifer dad.
“It’s fine.” Hazel shrugged.
Chapter 12: God's Request
Chapter Text
Raphael had been visiting sporadically for nearly eight months, and Monroe continued to call him dada no matter how many times he was corrected.
Hazel was to the point she stopped trying to correct him.
“Dada?” Monroe asked looking out a window.
“I’m not sure if he’s coming today bud,” Hazel smiled enjoying that Monroe had another father figure added to his life. The archangel had been spending more time around her, and she was starting to miss him between visits.
Monroe let out a static squeal before running down stairs as fast as his little toddler legs could go. Hazel looked out the window seeing nothing before chasing after her son. The new residents of the hotel were usually unsettled by the boy’s appearance at first then slowly realized he was harmless. He just looked so angelic even with his ears.
Monroe was scooching down the stairs when Hazel reached him. As she reached for him, he disappeared into shadows.
“Papa don’t do that!” Hazel grumbled knowing exactly who had her son.
Alastor smiled from the bottom of the stairs holding his grandson. Monroe giggled. “Pop!” He squeaked. Everyone was slowly getting names. She was Mama. Her own mother was Dot.
Raphael knocked on the door the front door of the hotel. “Dada!” Monroe yelled pointing at the door. Alastor opened the door his wide smile in place.
“Good morning Alastor,” Raphael attempted to be cordial to the overlord. He wasn’t looking forward to this visit. His dad wanted Charlie and Monroe to visit Heaven.
“Morning,” the overlord smirked. Raphael hated how it felt like he could read him so easily. “Lucifer is away today.”
“Oh well, I’m here to see Charlie and Hazel.” Monroe started to flap his wings excitedly.
“Monroe.” Alastor stated the name firmly. The little boy immediately stopped his squirming. A light static could be heard. “I’ll let you find Charlie then. My daughter is on her way down.” He gestured to the stairs.
“Raphael, I didn’t know you were coming by today.” Hazel blushed. She had been working on a new painting project, so she was paint covered and her long black hair everywhere. Alastor raised an eyebrow at his daughter’s reaction to the angel before disappearing with his grandson.
“Yes, well it wasn’t exactly planned. Is Charlie around? I need to talk to you both.” Hazel nodded, grabbing his hand to drag him off to find Charlie.
“Raphael, my dad is out today.” Charlie sputtered seeing her uncle.
“I’m actually here to talk to you and Hazel.” Charlie looked surprised, but handed the group activity off to Vaggie who looked less than pleased to be left out of the conversation.
“Dad wants you and Monroe up for a visit,” he told Charlie.
“But not me…” Hazel was unable to stop the audible swallow from occurring. She felt fear rising in her gut.
“He would love to just get to see Charlie and Monroe, but I informed him that you would likely not let Monroe visit especially for the first time without you.” Hazel felt relieved.
“No Michael right?”
“No, he will not be allowed anywhere near Monroe. Dad knows the situation. He is just hoping you will allow him to meet his grandson.”
“Can my dad or Vaggie come with? I don’t know if I am up for meeting God by myself.” Charlie rubbed her arm nervously.
“I’m sure Dad would love to see Lucifer again.” Plus it would be added protection from Michael. He didn’t speak the last bit out loud.
“My parents…” Hazel froze. True her parents might not love the idea of the visit, but she was an adult who could make her own choices.
“I feel like getting the radio demon a visit to Heaven may be a bit out of reach right now, but if things go well with Dad, he may allow more people to visit,” Raphael hoped Hazel wasn’t too scared to go without her parents. He would be by her side the whole time.
“I’ll think about it. It would just be a day visit right?”
“Yes, we would head up in the morning. Lunch and dinner with dad then back home. You may even get to met my little brother.”
“Gabriel?” Hazel asked confused. She and Lucifer had discussed the archangels a little after Monroe was born.
“Yep, that’s the only one you haven’t met.”
“I never met Michael,” Charlie pointed out.
“Count yourself lucky,” Hazel grumbled while Raphael laughed.
“He is like your dad but a bit taller, curly hair, ruder, loves weapons, and thinks he can do no wrong.” Raphael gave an honest description of his oldest brother. Hazel thought about Micah’s personality and the way her son looked.
“Sounds about right,” she sighed. “Would you be there?”
“Of course,” he squeezed Hazel’s hand. She blushed. She hadn’t realized they were still holding hands.
xxXXxx
“How did it go?” God actually looked nervous.
“They are open to the visit on a few conditions.”
“I’m listening.” God hoped nothing would sound unreasonable.
“Hazel wants Michael no where near Monroe or herself.”
“Well that was a given.”
“Charlie wants Lucifer to come with her, so she is not alone.”
“Understandable.”
“Hazel wants me with her and Monroe the entire time.”
“Interesting?” God stared at him for a moment. “You are getting pretty close with the half breed, aren’t you?” Raphael blushed.
“There is something I should warn you of before the visit.”
“Yes?” God half expected him to say he was dating Hazel.
“Monroe has become accustomed to calling me Dada,” Raphael smiled at the thought. God actually looked at a loss for words.
“I’ll make a note of that. Has he been told you are not his father?”
“Multiple times. He doesn’t care… I suppose that’s another thing. They don’t tell him about Michael.”
“And we will respect that decision for now at least.”
xxXXxx
Alastor was pacing their room.
“It’s her choice whether or not to go,” Dottie sighed knowing it wasn’t what Alastor would want to hear.
“We can’t protect her in Heaven.” Alastor stopped his pacing with a sigh.
“She will have Charlie, Lucifer, and even Raphael,” she offered her reassurance.
“That is another cause for concern.”
“What?” Dottie gave her husband a curious look.
“Hazel is falling for the angel… don’t play dumb. It doesn’t suit you,” Alastor huffed. Dottie giggled getting up to give him a kiss. Yes she had noticed. Raphael was settling nicely into a father figure role, and their daughter was always her happiest during his visits.
“I didn’t think you noticed crushes?” Dottie pulled him to sit.
“She is a mother, not a child. She needs to be careful who she lets around Monroe.”
“Raphael has done nothing to lead us not to trust him. Yes her going upstairs and taking Monroe is terrifying, but she is his mother. She gets to decide if he is ready to meet his other family.” Dottie cut him off. He still seemed agitated, but he knew her words were the truth.
Chapter 13: Heaven
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Hazel was looking through her clothes for the millionth time. What do you even wear to meet God. In a way, he was like her father in law. She finally chose a pair of black pants and a red flowy top. She hoped that wasn’t too demonic. At risk of them flying, she didn’t want to wear a dress. She threw on some flats and headed down stairs. Monroe was spending the morning with her parents. He was asleep in Alastor’s arms when she found them.
“Are you packed?” Charlie spooked her.
“It’s only a day trip. I packed for Monroe, but that’s it.” Hazel held up a light blue backpack.
“I packed light!” Charlie dropped a heavy suitcase on the ground. Monroe grumbled at the noise, his ears twitching. Charlie mouthed sorry.
Lucifer showed up in his usually suit and hat, but he seemed nervous.
The portal would be opening soon. Hazel hugged her mother before taking her son from her father. He was still fast asleep. Alastor kissed the top of her head. The portal opened, and Hazel felt scared. What if they wanted to keep Monroe? She was about to chicken out of going when Charlie dragged her through. Lucifer smiled following after the girls.
Once in Heaven, they were at the gate. Monroe was just starting to stir.
“Name?” Saint Peter asked in his chipper tone. Upon seeing Lucifer, he seemed to panic.
“I’ve got this Saint Peter,” Raphael smiled landing near their group.
“Of course Saint Raphael!” Saint Peter called back.
“Saint?” Hazel raised an eyebrow. Raphael blushed rubbing the back of his neck. Hazel noticed he was wearing a white and gold robe with a hint of light blue detailing.
“Emily is meeting us before we visit Dad.” Raphael was not going to explain the saint title.
“Emily!” Charlie was jumping with excitement. Monroe was now glaring at his cousin. He glanced around looking panicked. His eyes got big.
“No honey, it's okay. Look Uncle Luci and Char Char are here.” moved for him to see them in hopes of reducing his panic. He grabbed for Charlie giving a little sniffle. Charlie happily took her baby cousin.
“Char,” he spoke with a little pout before snuggling his cousin.
“I suppose this may be a lot on his senses.” Raphael looked guilty. Maybe he asked them up too soon.
“Charlie!” Emily swooped down. She was full of excitement. Her eyes got even bigger at seeing the little boy in her arms. “Is that Michael's son? He is so cute!”
Hazel was already frowning and looking to both Raphael and Lucifer. “Umm Emily, please remember no mentioning Michael,” Raphael reminded the young seraphim.
“Oh right, I’m sorry that was rude… is this Monroe?” Emily looked at Hazel. She seemed sincere in her apology.
“Yes, this is him. I’m his mother Hazel,” Hazel shook her hand.
“I remember when your mother’s case was heard. It feels like that was just yesterday,” the seraphim laughed. Raphael raised an eyebrow. He honestly wasn’t fully aware of what Emily was talking about.
“This is Monroe. Monroe this is Emily,” Charlie introduced the twenty month old to the angel. He eyed her wings suspiciously.
“His wings are beautiful. I can’t believe he got a full set. Not even all Heaven born get six,” Emily was gushing again.
Raphael noticed Lucifer looking nervous. He moved closer to him. “Are you alright brother?”
“I usually only go to the meeting rooms. Those technically are neutral territory,” Lucifer admitted. This was his first time back fully into Heaven since his fall.
“Father will be happy to see you,” Raphael assured him.
“Let’s head in.” Emily led the way.
xxXXxx
God was actually nervous. He sent Michael to Earth to avoid him even hearing about the visit. Charlie was doing amazing work rehabilitating sinners, and he needed to be sure to tell her. He also felt guilt that he was not aware of her sooner. He missed the adorable young stages of her life. Then there was Monroe. He was young and not born of good circumstance. His mother would likely not trust him, but their attendance today was a good sign.
God moved to his den where he arranged to meet Raphael and their guests. It was similar to his office, but with less paperwork and more room for guests. He heard them coming and felt quite a bit of divine energy as well. The first person he noticed was his little dreamer.
“Hi Dad,” Lucifer gave a nervous wave. God couldn’t stop himself before grabbing him into a tight hug.
“Dad let him breathe,” laughed Raphael. God released his older son.
“This is my daughter Charlie,” Lucifer nudged Charlie forward.
“You’re so… tall,” God grinned at the young lady in front of him. She inherited Lucifer’s red circles and looked like an adorable little doll. Charlie offered her hand only to pulled into a hug by the deity.
“This is Hazel and her son Monroe,” Raphael introduced the two. Monroe was staring with wide eyes.
“He’s a ball of energy,” God offered his hand to Monroe. Lucifer and Raphael shared a look at the likely double meaning of their father’s words. Monroe made a high pitched static noise at him before grabbing his hand. “Strong little guy.” God made a move to hold Monroe. Hazel had reservations but allowed him to take her child. Monroe twitched his ears. “Oh you have little ears in here!” God laughed when he found the ears through his golden curls. “I’m your grandfather little guy.”
“He calls my dad, Pop. You may get a nickname after a bit,” Hazel spoke freely. God just seemed terrified that Monroe and Charlie wouldn’t like him.
“Dada!” Monroe pointed at Raphael.
“I see. You want Dada?” God didn’t want to put him down yet, but he didn’t want the boy upset during his visit. Monroe tried flying to Raphael. Raphael grabbed him from the air as soon as he saw him falter. “He is a determined little guy,” God laughed. He noticed how happy Monroe seemed in Raphael’s arms. “Alright, let’s have lunch then I want to discuss how all the rehabilitation work is going!” God led them out of his den.
xxXXxx
Hazel was nervous, but she was allowing Raphael to show her around Heaven while God and Charlie continued their discussion. It had been going on for hours, and Monroe had fallen asleep in God’s arms. With the promise Lucifer wouldn’t let Monroe out of his sight, she was willing to explore.
“This place is very white and clean,” Hazel was used to Hell. It was her home, and the only one she ever knew.
“Yeah, it’s very typical biblical stuff,” Raphael shrugged. Hazel made a face. “Sorry, I forget since you grew up in Hell, you didn’t do the earth spiritual afterlife thing.”
“Papa taught me somethings, but it is much darker than this… it is more for shadows and protection.” It made sense. Alastor’s shadows were an interesting power to have.
“Is there anything you wanted to see? I know Charlie mentioned rainbow sprinkles,” Raphael would literally take her anywhere she wanted.
“Do you know where they keep stillborns?” Hazel looked nervous and excited.
“Yes, I’m kind of incharge of it,” Raphael was confused. To his knowledge, Monroe was an only child.
“Can we go?”
“Sure?” Raphael led her to a white hospital building. Many of the workers looked nervous.
“Saint Raphael, what are you doing here?” a young female angel asked them.
“Ummm,” he looked at Hazel.
“Can I see Dorothea Moon’s daughter?” The woman looked surprised, but nodded. She led them to a room with a short little black woman was cradling a tiny baby.
“Hi,” Hazel waved at the woman. She gave a soft smile.
“Hello child, are you Dottie’s youngest?” Hazel nodded. “I’m Betty. I was your mother’s nurse when she delivered.”
“I’m Hazel,” she offered her hand to shake. The woman laughed setting down the baby to hug Hazel.
“You look like Alastor’s Mama,” Raphael’s head was trying to catch up. He knew Dottie and Alastor were Hazel’s parents, but he never knew they were together before death. He moved to look at the child. She was safe and loved, but trapped to never grow. Raphael moved to try a bit of healing. Healing a winner especially one so small would be difficult.
“Is my grandmother around?”
“She visited this morning. She should be around the spiritual district. She likes to eat there,” Betty informed them. Hazel nodded before moving to look at her older sister.
“She’s 100 years older than Monroe, but she still looks younger.”
“Do you wanna hold her?” Betty quickly moved to pick up the little girl before handing her to Hazel.
“Monroe was never this small,” Hazel started to tear up.
“Well who is this Monroe you keep mentioning? Did Alastor and Dottie have another?”
“No, he’s my son.” Hazel cradled the little girl carefully.
“Really, Alastor a grand-père. That I can’t imagine,” she laughed.
“Can I take a picture with her? My dad’s never seen her,” Hazel smiled at her sister's tiny movements.
“Of course,” Raphael took her phone, taking a few photos.
“I hope this won’t make them too sad,” Hazel wondered out loud.
“It will make them miss her, but seeing her safe will give them peace,” Betty assured her rubbing her back. Hazel nodded.
“We probably should get back to check on Monroe,” Raphael commented.
“Thank you for bringing her for a visit. You were always my favorite Saint,” Betty thanked him giving him a hug.
Once they left, Hazel asked, “why are you over stillborns?”
“I’m the saint over healing, mental health, pharmacist, nurses, travelers, shepherds, match making, and the sick to name a few,” Raphael shrugged it had been this way for so long he never really thought about it.
“You never mentioned being a saint,” Hazel never asked, but it felt odd to just now be learning this.
“Well, it’s an odd topic. Most people know…” he sighed before deciding to break his own rule. “Michael and Gabriel are as well. Lucifer likely would have been one as well if he hadn’t fallen.”
“Is that why Monroe is so strong?” He did a double take. He didn't think Hazel could feel divine energy.
“Yes, Michael is seen as the protector. Monroe inherited quite a bit from him,” Raphael smiled thinking of the little boy.
“The protector, the protector raped me,” Hazel didn’t yell, but she did say it a bit louder than Raphael would have liked.
“I know, Lucifer informed me. You didn’t deserve to have that happen,” Raphael moved to wrap an arm around her. “He isn’t allowed in Hell anymore, and father is pissed at him… first time in years,” he muttered the last bit. Hazel moved to snuggle into the shorter man. Raphael blushed.
“I want my baby,” Hazel just sounded drained. Raphael knew bringing up Michael was a bad idea. He decided to scoop her up bridal style and return to his father’s office. Hazel stayed snuggled to shoulder. At their arrival, Monroe grinned. Hazel let a soft smile return to her face as she took back her son.
“Mama!” He squealed.
“I love you so much baby,” she kissed the top of his head.

Hazel just had to make it through dinner, and it would over.
Dinner of course came with a different challenge. Gabriel. His appearance made him seem closer to Charlie’s age than to Lucifer’s, but Hazel knew that wasn’t true. He wore his hair long and much more casual clothes than his brother and father. He had orange triangles on his cheeks, but they were set in the opposite direction of Monroe’s.
“Hey bro,” Gabriel grinned as he came into the dinning room. Lucifer looked surprised to see him.
“Gabriel, I didn’t know you were coming,” Lucifer hugged his baby brother.
“Yeah dad wanted me to meet the niece and nephew. Woah she looks like you but a tall girl,” Gabe laughed at Charlie.
“Yeah, hi I’m Charlie,” Charlie offered her hand.
“Isn’t that a boy’s name?”
“Her full name is Charlotte,” Lucifer grumbled. Gabriel gave Charlie a hug ignoring her offer of a handshake.
“And this is Hazel and Monroe,” Raphael introduced them.
“Michael’s son. He’s like a mini Mike. Except the ears, does he have dog ears?” Gabriel took the child out of Hazel’s arms. He squealed with excitement. Hazel seemed panicked by this action.
“They're more like deer ears,” Lucifer chimed in.
“And this is the ex,” Gabriel now had Monroe on his hip.
“Her name is Hazel, and I told you not to mention Michael,” Raphael moved to take Monroe back.
“I get it you didn’t want me mentioning Michael in front of your little girlfriend,” Gabriel rolled his eyes, moving back to keep Monroe out of his brother’s reach.
“We aren’t dating,” Raphael and Hazel blurted out at the same time. Both were blushing.
“Yeah, okay. Very believable,” Gabriel laughed.
“Dada!” Monroe pointed at Raphael.
“He is not helping your case,” Gabriel laughed again. “Is Michael coming tonight?”
“He better not,” grumbled Hazel. Gabriel looked surprised.
“You seem to really think you are too good for my brother,” he glared at Hazel. Hazel actually felt fear. She felt something similar to when her shadows were suppressed two years ago.
“Shut the fuck up,” Raphael growled. Lucifer now had his demonic eyes and horns out. Hazel was starting to shake. Charlie weaved between the men to grab Monroe from Gabriel.
“You're really protective of some sloppy seconds.” Lucifer punched his baby brother square in the jaw.
God walked in at that moment to see two of his older sons attacking his youngest while his granddaughter shielded his grandson and daughter in law from whatever was going on. “You three office now!” He ordered. They didn’t seem to hear him. He snapped his fingers, and the four of them appeared in his office. “Separate!” This time he got their attention.
Once they separated, God could assess the damage. Gabriel had a bruised jaw, a black eye, and a ripped shirt. “So what did Gabriel do?”
“Why do you assume I did something?” Gabriel whined.
“Because you are the one that was getting beat up,” God rubbed his temple. His youngest was giving him a headache.
“He insulted Hazel,” Raphael looked ready to punch him again.
“She was being a bitch,” grumbled Gabriel.
“You were suppressing her power. You piece of shit,” Lucifer’s horns were still out.
“So she was being a bitch about Michael dumping her,” Gabriel attempted to defend himself. God raised his hand to his older sons.
“Gabriel, Raphael and I told you not to bring up Michael. Did you happen to think there might be a reason?” Gabriel looked confused. God sighed, “Michael didn’t really date Hazel. He assaulted her suppressed her powers and got her pregnant.”
“But Michael said they dated.”
“They did for a few months when he posed as a sinner and went by a fake name,” Lucifer started to calm down.
“So I just…”
“Called her not good enough for her rapist while using the same restraint on her he did,” Raphael snorted. God stared at his youngest.
“I need to apologize. I didn’t know.” Gabriel looked guilt ridden.
“You do.” God snapped his fingers healing up his son. “You and Lucifer go apologize to Hazel. I need a word with your brother.” Raphael looked surprised at his father. Gabriel and Lucifer headed back to find the girls leaving the two alone. “You can ask her out you know.”
“What?”
“Hazel, she is interested. So are you… unless you have another reason for beating up your brother. He crossed the line, and instead of staying level headed you defended her. She’ll be my daughter in law no matter what you decide, but I think she would be a good fit for you.”
“You’re not worried about Michael’s reaction.”
“Not at all. He isn’t getting near either of them again… I am surprised you didn’t mention the wings or the divine energy he puts off.” God watched his son avoid eye contact. “So that was done intentionally.”
“I feared you would take him from Hazel,” Raphael answered honestly.
“I can understand that,” God sighed, patting his shoulder.
xxXXxx
Gabriel apologized sincerely to Hazel. “I had been misled about the situation between you and my brother… I hope you accept my apology.”
Hazel had finally stopped shaking. “I’ll think about it,” Hazel wasn’t sure if she could trust him yet.
“I can’t really ask for more,” Gabriel offered his hand. Hazel took it gingerly. “You can call me Gabe. I would like to know my nephew if at all possible.” Hazel nodded.
“Uh Hazel,” Charlie called her. She still had Monroe in her arms.
Hazel turned only to panic again. “Where are his wings?” She ran to her son.
“He may have pulled them in. Has he not done that before?” Gabe joined them with his nephew.
“No he hasn’t. Check his back. If he pulled them in, there will be marks on his back,” Lucifer instructed them. Hazel practically ripped off her son’s shirt to check his back. There were 6 gold ovals on his back. “Yes, those are them.” Lucifer thought of removing his suit jacket and shirt to show his red marks, but Gabe was already yanking up the back of his shirt to show his own marks. They were slightly more yellow gold than Monroe’s.
“So this is okay?” Charlie asked still holding her cousin.
“Yeah, he is honestly a little old to just be figuring it out,” Gabe answered, dropping his shirt back down.
“Well I don’t have wings to teach him,” grumbled Hazel.
“I don’t put mine out often,” Lucifer admitted.
Gabe started laughing, “one day in Heaven and the little guy already figured out his wings.”
Raphael and God enter to see everyone surrounding Monroe. Monroe’s shirt was removed and his wings were gone.
“He pulled his wings in?” Raphael went to check on Monroe.
“Did you teach him?” Hazel asked, looking at Raphael.
“I’ve been showing him my wings, but it’s not exactly easy to teach,” Raphael answered honestly. Hazel nodded, pulling his shirt back on.

Hazel felt drained after the day. Raphael had insisted on escorting her them back to the hotel. Lucifer headed to his suite while Charlie rushed off to find Vaggie.
“I’ll carry him to bed. You’ve been through enough today.” Raphael carried Monroe upstairs to bed. Hazel followed after them. She noticed a shadow following after them. Once Monroe was placed in his crib, Raphael gave her an awkward look. “Could I have a word with you before I go?”
“Sure.” Hazel led him through the adjoining door from Monroe’s room to her own. She was fully aware the shadow was still with them.
Raphael had never been in Hazel’s bedroom before. Art supplies littered the space along with several halfway completed projects. Her bed was made and the room decorated in a manner that reminded him of the radio demon.
“I know meeting everyone today was a rough experience, but I enjoyed you getting to see where I'm from.” Raphael seemed extra nervous. Hazel watched the shadow start to glare at him. “Would you. I mean could I. Would you want to go on a date sometime?” He was finally able to get the words out.
“I’d like that.” Hazel didn’t want to say too much with her father’s shadow lingering.
“Great, I’ll call you.” Raphael was grinning as he left the hotel.
Hazel turned to the shadow that was moving back towards Monroe’s room. “He’s fine. He just finally learned to pull in his wings.” The shadow nodded before melting under her bedroom door.
Notes:
Technically Saint Colette is over stillborns, but I figure Raphael would be over the entire medical field since he is over the sick.
Chapter 14: Rough Morning
Chapter Text
Monroe was extra clingy the next day. He wanted his Pop and Dot.
“I don’t know what's gotten into him today,” Hazel sighed. Monroe was nearly having a tantrum.
“Pop pop pop!” He kept yelling. Alastor was in the middle of his radio broadcast. Nifty turned on the radio so he could hear Alastor. He seemed to settle.
“Thank you nifty,” Hazel breathed a sigh of relief.
“Give the kid a break. He has never been away from them this long,” Husk shook his head at Hazel’s obliviousness. Hazel stopped to think. Husk was right. Monroe was extremely attached to her parents. They had been so exhausted that they slept in this morning missing her mother before she left for work. Now that they were up Alastor was busy with his broadcast. Monroe had his green blanket as he stared at the radio grinning.
“Poor guy, he missed them yesterday,” Charlie smiled at her cousin.
“Charlie, could you watch him for a bit? I need to do something.” Hazel asked Charlie. She nodded and was handed his snack he had been refusing most of the morning. Hazel headed upstairs. She wanted to print a couple pictures of her sister since she knew her father wasn’t a fan of digital photos. Hopefully she had a couple good ones.
xxXXxx
Alastor finished his broadcast promptly only to find his shadow looking bothered rushing him downstairs. Halfway down he heard a static noise that usually meant Monroe was upset.
“Monroe?” Alastor scooped his grandson away from Vaggie without even asking.
“Pop!” He seemed to scream in relief burying his face in his grandfather’s chest.
“He’s been looking for you and Thea since he woke up,” Vaggie grumbled oddly feeling happy to see Alastor.
“And where is Hazel?”
“She said she needed to do something upstairs. He wasn’t accepting her either,” Charlie sighed. She had toddler snacks stuck in her hair.
“Pop, Dot?” Monroe looked up at him with large blue eyes.
“I shall call Dottie to see if she can come home early.” Alastor headed to the landline to call his wife.
xxXXxx
Dottie returned home immediately. She found Monroe clinging to Alastor with tears in his eyes.
“Dot!” He screamed, jumping from Alastor’s arms. His wings popped back out, and he fell. Alastor caught him before he hit the ground.
“Monroe, Dot’s here,” Dottie snuggled her grandson.
“Momma?” He seemed to now realize Hazel was missing. Hazel came walking down the steps at that moment with pictures in hand.
“What’s wrong bud? Mama you’re home early,” Hazel was confused.
“I called her given Monroe’s upset state,” Alastor admitted. He hated seeing him so bothered.
“He was fine yesterday, but this morning he has been inconsolable,” Hazel admitted.
“You could've called me earlier,” Dottie snuggled Monroe between her and Alastor.
“Charlie said you were doing something?” Alastor raised an eyebrow at his daughter.
“I was thinking about getting them framed, but here.” Hazel handed them a stack of pictures.
The first couple were of Monroe, one of him with a few other angels, and one of him asleep on a man they could only assume was god. Then they saw the ones of Hazel and her sister.
“They let you see her?” Dottie was shaking. Alastor stared at the pictures. This was the first time he was able to lay eyes on his oldest daughter.
“Raphael is kinda over that kind of stuff, so while Monroe was napping he took me for a visit.” Hazel knew this would mean a lot to them.
“Was she okay?” Dottie now had tears in her eyes.
“Yeah, Nurse betty was there. She told me I looked like your mom,” she gave her dad a smile. Alastor could see it. His mother was a tall beautiful woman with a smile similar to his own.
“Dot no Cry!” Monroe was patting at Dottie’s cheeks.
“It’s okay buddy. These are good tears.” Dottie kissed his head. Alastor snapped his fingers. The photo was now safe in a frame.
xxXXxx
Raphael was pacing trying to think.
“What’s wrong you have that over thinking look?” Gabe interrupted his older brother.
“I asked Hazel out,” Raphael admitted.
“Good, you two were basically already a couple,” Gabe shrugged.
“Where do I take her on a date?” Gabe raised an eyebrow. “Hell isn’t an option due to the amount of attention I attract. The same could be said for her in Heaven.”
“You could wear a disguise or give her one.”
“I still draw attention in Heaven due to my rank, and she does in Hell due to her overlord connections.”
“Take her to the human world then. You’ll both have to wear a disguise. No one will know who you are,” Gabe leaned back with a grin. Raphael did like the sound of the idea.
