You and me, Us // SaneGiyuu

Summary:

"Giyuu, that's enough," the demon said with a serious face. "I don't fight omegas, especially if they're pregnant." Tanjiro made a strangled sound.
"I don't know what you're talking about," and seriously, the omega didn't know what he was talking about.
"Haven't you noticed?" The seriousness hadn't left the demon's face. "Well, don't blame me if something happens to you."
And the fight continued.

Work Text:

You and me, Us

It was a one-night stand; there was no heat or rut involved, just two adults who claimed to not get along with each other, but at the time, it seemed anything but.

The Red Light District disaster had happened almost two months ago, and at that moment, Sanemi was furious to learn that Uzui Tengen, the Sound Hashira, had requested his retirement after destroying Upper Moon Six. Even more furious, when Tengen himself commented that the demon girl, Nezuko, had saved his life.

And every time he thought about that, the image of the Water Hashira materialized in his mind, and he refused to leave.

That's why he groaned in frustration when he ran into him one night in a house with a Wisteria Emblem. They hadn't spoken since the Kamado brats' trial, and when Giyuu finally laid eyes on him, he greeted him with a "Shinazugawa" so simple it set the white-haired man on edge. Then he looked straight ahead and walked off, disappearing down the hallway, just like that, as if they were nothing.

Because they were something.

Although it's hard for Sanemi to accept, it seemed the omega had accepted it more than he had. Shared missions, nights when neither of them wanted to be alone, heats, ruts. And every time, Sanemi had to use all his self-control to not to mark him.

Tomioka Giyuu was driving him crazy.

Once in his room, Sanemi thought things over. His inner alpha was trying to convince him to apologize to HIS omega. When had his inner alpha started treating the dark-haired man like his omega? He had no idea; it was a battle he was losing. When he finally told himself he would find Giyuu to fix things, he found the other man right outside his room, his hand raised, about to knock on the door. Right there, with that beauty of his that drove him crazy.

He wasted no time, grabbing him by the uniform and dragging him into the room for a kiss that took both of their breath away. Soon, their clothes were superfluous, and soon they were both a swarm of limbs moving in excitement, naked on a borrowed futon, with only four walls for witnesses. And when Sanemi was about to cum, he made a move to leave the omega's warm interior, but the omega stopped him by squeezing him even tighter with his legs and tilting his face to the side, inciting him to cum inside, to tie him up, to mark him.

Sanemi should have stopped him the next day, should have looked for him, but he simply watched the dark-haired man leave as always.

The Infinity Castle, with its deadly traps and endless corridors, seemed like the last place Tanjiro and Giyuu would want to be. They both moved forward diligently, eliminating demons left and right and looking out for each other like never before.

Until Akaza appeared.

Giyuu watched as Upper Moon Three became engrossed in fighting Tanjiro alone, leaving the omega not only forgotten but confused.

In one of the openings Tanjiro left, Giyuu approached to help him, getting involved in the fight, but no matter how hard he tried, Akaza pushed him away, causing Giyuu to awaken his mark of pure courage.

When they finally managed to defeat him and the yellow-eyed demon turned to ash, Tanjiro ran to help Giyuu, who fell to his knees exhausted. But before either of them could say anything, they fainted from exhaustion.

A while later, both awake and rested enough, with no bleeding wounds, Tanjiro took the time to observe the omega in front of him. Despite being a beta, he had a sense of smell as developed as any alpha, and for some time now, he'd been sensing a different scent coming from the Water Hashira. At first, he'd thought it was his normal smell, but now that he noticed it, he could smell Giyuu's pretichor scent, subtle, yet spreading like perfume through his body along with the sweet smell of milk. Something unusual for someone who had always controlled his pheromones to perfection.

"Mr Giyuu..." the redhead began, but was interrupted by Giyuu.

"Now is not the time, Tanjiro," the black-haired man gripped his katana tightly as they ran. "We have to move on after all," he said softly.

Tanjiro mentally assured himself that they would talk later, but that moment never came, with Giyuu falling into a coma after they were finally able to return Tanjiro to normal.

The kakushis no longer knew what to do, even though they had already applied first aid, the Water Hashira was still unconscious, not to mention that he was bleeding more than they had anticipated and they could not identify which wound so much blood was coming from.

When Aoi finally reached Giyuu, she was surprised to find him in such bad condition. The poor girl couldn't keep up, but she decided to prioritize the omega.

"Why didn't you bring him to me sooner?" she cried worriedly “he is having a miscarriage” the kaksuhis, some shouted with concern, others rushed to help even more “Mr. Tomioka, can you hear me?” Aoi spoke to him, while giving orders “it's going to be alright, okay?”

As the days passed, the rumor that Tomioka Giyuu was pregnant spread everywhere. Aoi had managed to stop the bleeding from his wounds and the loss of him with her best efforts, but the omega was not out of danger yet. Little Oyakata-sama had gone to visit the injured and gave Aoi everything she could to help them all recover.

"How is Giyuu?" After learning of his special condition, Kiriya was one of the first to see him.

"He's not out of danger yet," she explained, "but everything seems to indicate that his puppy is in good health."

Kiriya asked Aoi to ensure Giyuu received the best treatment they could, and they moved him to a private room when his condition became more stable. However, she severely limited the dark-haired man's visits, allowing only her, her assistants, and Urokodaki to be near him.

For Urokodaki, the news of his most precious student hit him hard, and he remained by his side always. Over time, Aoi allowed Giyuu, still in a coma, to be visited. Uzui stopped by several times, concerned about his teammate, bringing him steaming bowls of salmon with daikon to see if the scent of his favorite food would awaken the omega. Nezuko was the one who lingered the most; the young alpha would sit silently next to Urokodaki as she repaired the treasured haori of the man who had forgiven her and for whom she had been given a second chance.

Everyone who was conscious was worried about the pregnant omega. But almost none were as worry as when the Wind Hashira awoke.

Shinazugawa Sanemi woke up three weeks after the Final Battle. He opened his eyes as a kakushi was changing one of his many bandages. The poor man screamed and ran away, returning a few minutes later with Aoi.

Sanemi, still in pain, wasn't in the mood to yell or get angry, so he let her talk to him and explain the state of his injuries, although at that moment all he could think about was Genya. "Who's still alive?" he asked after she finished speaking. The beta answered him, telling him what happened after they defeated Muzan. "Which of the hashiras...?" he asked, unable to finish, afraid of the answer. She lowered her head sadly. "Only Mr Tomioka." "Only Tomioka?" Sanemi thought. "Mr Tomioka... his condition is very delicate."

For Sanemi, it's like a bucket of cold water has been thrown over him. His now-awake alpha tenses and demands answers, alerting all of Sanemi's dormant senses. So, putting aside his lament for all his fallen comrades and his brother, he asks Aoi for more details. She hesitates before speaking again.

"Mr. Tomioka is pregnant. He fought in that state throughout the entire battle. He was the last to fall unconscious, and he almost lost his puppy," she replies, her voice breaking. "They're both fine, although Mr. Tomioka's condition is still sensitive. He's been stable but remains in a coma."

Sanemi couldn't believe it; that information hit him hard. His alpha stirred in awareness.

"I need to see him," he says, pretending to get up. "I need to see him."

"Please, Mr. Shinazugawa." She pushes him onto the bed. "Your wounds could still open."

"I don't care," he says, wanting to get her off him but feeling weak. "I need to see him," he repeats. "I think he's mine," he manages to whisper. She looks at him in confusion and then nods.

"Please, Mr. Shinazugawa, just wait a few days," she assures him, and he goes back to sleep.

When he wakes up again, a man wearing a tengu mask is accompanying him to the side of his bed. Sanemi, still not fully awake, struggles to remember who it is, but he immediately remembers Giyuu's soft voice telling him about his master.

"How are you feeling?" the old man asks him in a calm voice. And they talk, the beta asks patiently and the alpha answers with an unusual calmness for him, the beta assures him that when his wounds heal a little more he himself will accompany him to Giyuu's room, and the alpha can only sigh resignedly.

Now it made sense, he supposed, after that night they'd been together and he'd marked him. He couldn't stop thinking about the raven-haired man. His alpha continually asked him to find him and not let him go. The few times they met, he couldn't stop looking at him.

In the last meeting before training, he couldn't help but worry about him. His alpha insisted to follow him, hug him, protect him. When they trained that day before falling into the Infinity Castle, his alpha got angry with him, urging him to take care of the omega, to give him the love his omega needed. And he was about to do it, until the brat Kamado arrived and ruined everything.

The white-haired man groaned in frustration, still in his bed. Why didn't the other say anything the last time they saw each other? Why did he keep fighting? No one in the organization would have blamed him; both the other hashiras and Oyakata-sama, would have understood.

Soon, Urokodaki arrived and escorted him to the room where Giyuu was still in a coma. There, he found Nezuko, now human, sitting in one of the chairs beside the bed, delicately stitching the omega's torn haori.

"Mr. Shinazugawa, good afternoon," she greeted him cordially. "It's good to see you." He simply gave her a nod of greeting.

"How is he?" he asked, looking at the sleeping omega. He was hooked up to several IV bags and covered in several layers of clothing.

"Aoi says he's stable," the older man replied, "and the puppy is developing normally. We brought clothes from his estate and from my house. When Nezuko finishes the haori, we'll add it to the makeshift nest as well." Sanemi felt Urokodaki's gaze on him.

"I'll ask for clothes from my estate as well."

That's how the three of them found a routine for caring for the raven-haired boy. Nezuko was the one who spent the least time, alternating between Giyuu, taking care of her brother, and watching over the other two brats. Soon, she finished arranging the haori and left it neatly folded at the head of the bed. People came and went; Uzui visited them almost daily, and Kiriya-sama also visited.

And so two months passed when Tomioka Giyuu finally opened his eyes.

Nezuko was the first to notice, drawing the attention of the two men at her side. To say that Sanemi almost rushed to hug the omega is an understatement. Urokodaki appeared above, stroking the raven's hair with one of his hands.

"Giyuu, we were so worried," he told him. Nezuko had rushed to find Aoi.

"Don't do something like that again," Sanemi reproached him through tears, not caring if anyone saw them.

"Do what?" Giyuu asked in a whisper.

Upon learning that the omega had finally awakened, visitors were quick to arrive, and with each visit, the poor blue-eyed boy was scolded for his actions.

"I didn't know, okay?" was what he said when he was a little more recovered, sitting up in bed and eating the salmon with daikon that Uzui had brought him.

Even Tanjiro, when he finally woke up, told them what had happened with Upper Moon Three. Urokodaki, like any concerned father, reproached him for his actions.

Giyuu couldn't help but feel guilty. He always kept a hand on his already swollen belly, lightly stroking his developing puppy. Despite Aoi's repeated reassurances that his puppy was fine, the omega couldn't help but feel horrible about it. "I knew something was wrong," he told Sanemi once when they were alone. They were both lying on the bed in Giyuu's room, the raven-haired man burying his face in his alpha's neck, inhaling his green tea scent. "I should have listened to my instincts."

"That's over," Sanemi told him, running his bandaged hand through the omega's hair and back. "Now we just have to make the most of what's left. We'll be fine, you and me, us."

"It's really not how I would have liked it to be, all of this," Giyuu leaned even closer to the alpha, snuggling and purring. "But I like it."

Sanemi kissed the gland on his omega's neck. "Yes, he liked it too."

Notes: At least in this world, Giyuu didn't lose his arm, nor did anyone die from the Mark at 25.
