Work Text:

The room was shrouded in darkness, the monotonous hum of machinery filling the room with an ominous static. A lone figure stood observing a map of the Star Forge. Cast in shadows, Revan gazed into the heart of the Star Forge.

Silence disturbed, the door slowly hissed open, revealing a lithe figure, their features casted in shadows aside from the sharp yellow eyes, glowing like that of a predator.

With slow, measured steps, the woman pranced further into the room. As she reached Revan's back, Bastila fell to one knee.

“The Jedi is dead, Master,” she said, her voice echoing in the room.

Revan said nothing for a moment, giving no acknowledgement of her words.

“The master may be dead,” Revan said smoothly, letting the silence linger for barely a moment, before continuing on. “However, there is something you have failed to mention, my apprentice.”

Bastila bowed her head, “Indeed, there is. Forgive me if I have offended. The apprentice still lives while I was dueling the master; the apprentice managed to escape.”

Revan at last turned around, their mask glinting in the dim lighting, “This is not your failure.”

She slowly approached Bastila, her steps slow, “Jedi are all the same, they would readily sacrifice themselves instead of facing their opponents with all the diligence required of their station. If they had instead worked together, perhaps they may have both managed to escape; instead, they would rather their foolish ideals live on by ensuring the next generation prospers, letting those who live in the present suffer for their inaction and cowardice”. Beneath the mask Revan's eyes narrow, “This is how they have survived so long, by running from conflict. But it is also equally damning as they divide their resources, making them easier prey. It is of no consequence the apprentice will be hunted down with the full might of our Empire; they cannot run forever.”

“It is as you say, Lord Revan.”

Revan nodded and walked past Bastila, “Rise, apprentice, we have matters to attend to.”

Bastila woke with a gasp, nearly falling off her bunk in the Ebon Hawk, her eyes wide, she felt ill that her mind would even entertain such a disturbing line of thought. She knows she is not above the darkside, her masters have told her countless times of how easily she gives into her emotions. But this vision had little to do with her impulsiveness. Rather, it was not a vision of her mind's creation but rather a result of her bond tying her very soul to Revan.

At least she must convince herself to believe this, because if this is what she truly desires deep down inside she is not certain she can continue with this mission.

As if speaking of the devil, Revan herself appeared in the doorway smiling at her, and oh how she hated her for it, because it was getting increasingly more difficult to separate the woman behind the mask from her partner in this adventure.

“Hey Bastila, I wanted to know if you wanted to get some more practice in with me.”

Notes:

DAY 2 BABY I love the dark side ending and its honestly much more fulfilling atleast in this game because of the context (e.g the brainwashing) people hype up the redemption arc but is it true redemption if you cannot contemplate and atone for your sins, they made the same mistakes of the past and treated revan the same way so its only natural that history would repeat itself because theyve learned nothing. Bastilas fall to the darkside is parallel to revans they damned bastila too because when they saw bastila i bet all they saw was revan a prodigy that was at the forefront of a war they were probably afraid that she would become like revan so they probably held her back we know this from bastilas dialogue on top of the temple okay i think i yapped enough now lol but i could go on for hours the lightside ending is so unfulfilling to me
