Chapter Text
Scott let his head rest on his bed.
Well, it was a coffin in a crypt, but he didn't have his own bedroom since his manor had been destroyed whilst he slept those 600 years.
Vampires didn't need to sleep. But Scott liked to take short naps from time to time, so he was taking one because of how little food Scott has his hunger will be kept down by sleep for a few days.
He closed the lid to the stone coffin and let his eyelids slip close, knowing that it would be a few days before Owen, Pyro, or shelby would awaken him later.
Avid wasn't sure what he was doing. He had heard how owen and someone else discussed the fact that Scott had decided to go back to sleep for a few days in his crypt deep below the ruined but currently being the rebuilt castle.
And since Owen kinda got avid kicked out, he was curious to see Scott.
So there he is, his footsteps slow and deliberate to not accidentally awaken Scott or draw anything else that would murder avid on sight.
He quietly crept to the bottoms of the place where the crypt was located.
The mud flooring somehow muted the sound of Avid's footsteps. He soon got to the end of the hallways just to see the elder vampires resting place.
The candlelight was now lit, and it reflected from the stone walls.
The room was just as big as avid remembered, and it was definitely still just as beautiful and terrifying because of the fact of a murderous thing hiding here.
The pillars and the carvings into the stone let it look almost like a place of peace and a safe haven to others and not an evil vampire's bedroom.
Avid didn't grab the stake off from his belt. He didn't ask himself why he wasn't listening to his intuition at a time like this.
He didn't grab the holy water either and sneaked down to the lower level where the stone coffin laid, now closed off from the outside of the world.
This room wasn't as cold as when avid had discovered it.
It actually felt almost eerily welcoming to him even if there was a bloodthirsty creature laying in the same room, fully sleeping.
He stood on the pedestal that the coffin was laid in, and he carefully slid off the lid. His eyes finally met the sleeping face of Scott.
Unlike when he was awake, Scott looked harmless, calm even.
Yet he was still very pretty, not like Avid will ever admit it since he already knew the other man was a vampire.
Scott's pale blue hair shimmered in the candlelight like the sky in the daytime. His pale skin reminded avid of the snow-white princess from the tale he had read when he was just a small child.
His lips were the same color as pink tulips. The outfit was still the same as it had been before.
The jacket that he hung from his shoulders with an infinity brooch holding it was the same exquisite tailoring.
The dark purple tail coat and white shirt gave him that iconic extravagant look that he was known for.
But the gem the color of blood caught Avid's eyes.
It glimmered to the now exposed candlelight, like a fire burning deep within the earth on the white ruffled shirt collar.
Avid stayed quiet for a second. He had so many options on what to do.
He could grab the stake and drive it through Scott's heart. He could bring everyone from town here to prove his theory.
He could grab something that would keep the lid on and never let Scott escape.
But he did none of that. Instead, he leaned on the side of the coffin that Scott was placed in. Avid's head tilted and was supported by his right palm.
He looked at the man who would murder him if he knew Avid was even near the remains of the castle.
Yet, Avid felt brave by what he was doing. He didn't feel an ounce of fear.
Okay, maybe he was a bit anxious, but it was still so weird since he was quite the paranoid person.
He let his hand move some loose hair from Scott's face, a sense of calm washed over him.
He liked this moment. For some reason, Avid wanted, maybe, hoped that this moment would never end.
Where scott wasn't an enemy to Avid, where Avid wasn't sick, where everything was calm. He sighed, looking at the ceiling to avoid looking at Scott's pretty face.
He didn't notice the vampire's eyes had snapped open. The new magenta color was quite different from the sky blue, which Scott thought only he himself remembered it.
Scott couldn't help but be quite curious on why the pretty scaredy cat of a hunter was next to his crypt even though avid perfectly knew what this place was.
What was even more amusing yet surprising that avid was caressing his hair. Like Scott wasn't the centuries year old vampire that had bloodlust on his mind quite often.
It was nice, though. Almost like Scott could hear his own heartbeat again even if it had been gone for many, many years. But Avid's hand was quite comfortably warm.
Avid looked back to Scott's face to still see the resting face that was quite one of a charmer. "He's pretty like this." Avid whispered to no one particular. "He's always been so, so pretty. It's a shame he's a vampire."
He sighed quietly. Eyes slipping shut, he's tired from the stress of being kicked out even if he left by himself.
Scott opened his eyes again, he's glad he was able to close his eyes so fast to not get caught by Avid's gaze.
Honestly, he was quite surprised that Avid hadn't realized that Scott was very much awake at the fact that the very much undead vampire's cheeks were a bright pink from hearing what had been said about him.
Scott wasn't sure how to react. At first, he thought it would be a good idea to jumpscare the poor guy, but now his ears were now filled with the sound of his own blood rushing.
Avid opened his eyes to meet the flustered vampire's face.
Both of their eyes were locked on each other for a second. Shock, embarrassment, maybe even a small fluttering of butterflies was felt by the both of them.
Avid pulled back his hand. He wasn't sure what to say. "This never happened." Was the thing he muttered before booking it. Scott sat up, pressing his hands to his face, mind racing.
The elder vampire rarely got this flustered or surprised, yet here he was, face pink, and hands shaking. "Oh, oh no." He whispered to himself in a quiet manner.
Chapter Text
Avid knew he was a foolish man. A foolish man who was way too curious for his own god damned good.
He started hunting vampires because he was curious, and he lost someone from that.
He went to a town far away that was rumored to have had vampires, and those rumors were true. They were truer than what Avid had expected, and Avid knew there was no safety for the townsfolk.
He ventured into the scary cript he had found before again.
Knowing full well that a monster was hidden within the walls of the crypt like buried treasure that was cursed.
Yet he still went in, interacted with the sleeping beast just enough to wake him up.
Avid was so unbelievable close to death it was obvious that his luck was barely hanging on by a thread.
And maybe Avid should listen to himself to not listen to his heart, to not start pulling at the thread of hair that was his luck and try to risk something that might get him killed.
Yet, Avid knew he was always a foolish man.
So he didn't listen to his one logical part of his brain and did the same thing he had done just a few days ago, though this time he gathered supplies.
He had grabbed his silver sword, his holy water, his drinkable water and food, but he left his stake.
He wasn't ready, not yet. He needs a bit more time before he does that. He also had grabbed a bottle of cow blood.
He wasn't sure why, maybe to distract Scott if the male was hungry enough to go rouge on Avid.
Yet Avid knew Scott was intelligent enough not to go particularly rouge. Maybe he was just trying to trick the vampire. Maybe the blood is poisoned?
It wasn't. It was blood that Avid didn't dare to touch after placing it in the glass bottle. Maybe Avid was feeling pity for scott?
The man didn't know truly, but he had always been a truly foolish man since the day he had first breathed his first breath, and until he breaths his very last ones, he is a fool hiding behind confidence.
Avid was a foolish man when he first met Scott and when his heart started racing whenever he saw the other's face in the daylight and the darkness of the nightfall.
Scott hadn't been able to exactly fall asleep for long after Avid had come across him and had done what he did.
For some reason, Scott wasn't exactly sure what this feeling was.
It oddly felt like the butterflies he had felt for one of his servants many years ago, jimothy or Timothy was his name.
Scott had long forgotten how he sounded or looked many years ago. He had died over 700 years ago if Scott is correct.
But when he thinks of Avid, at the moment where they first crossed paths.
The tension between had clicked right into place as Avid and Scott realized that there was hatred rooted deep into the seed of the earth because of their origins.
And yet, as Scott thinks of the last time, he had met the beautiful, almost purple magenta eyes that Avid possessed Scott couldn't help but think his heart is beating again even though it wasn't.
He hated when he couldn't understand his emotions, especially ones that were clearly emotions that humans felt.
He sat in his coffin, the crypt, eyes wide open and looking at the now pitch dark room because all of the candles had already burned out.
Scott could still see, but he was far more distracted with battling his own mind, questioning what was real and what was merely a silly dream.
Scott couldn't tell what it was. He only knew that his mind had been plagued by Avid's ashy brown hair that spiked at random places.
That pretty little face and those moles under his eyes. It felt like Scott was going insane and he knew he was.
Scott knew it's gonna take a while for anything to happen for the rest of his coven to go down to his crypt.
Still, he really doesn't want to be going insane with Avid's face stuck in his head like a charm of sort.
He hated this. His claws were slowly digging into the stone of his coffin from both the insanity of this very new feeling and the fact he hasn't been able to get even the smallest bit of blood.
This whole thing was supposed to help Scott fall asleep to not get him so hungry.
And yet, he couldn't even fall asleep, so his hunger started up again. Fortunately, he's still level two, but he was hanging by a thread now.
But then something caught his eyes. He saw a lanter being held up on the stairs and Avid's face being lightened up by the gentle glow of the fire in the candle being held up in this dark, dark room.
Avid's eyes shined with uncertainty yet with this odd look that Scott couldn't quite place his fingers on. After all, Scott doesn't know or remember that look from any human he had met or how it was called.
It was similar to what he had seen in Owen's eyes whenever he spoke of the vampire that turned him.
Or Cleo's eyes whenever she looked at pearl. Or how Shelby's eyes light up whenever drift was mentioned. And yet, Scott had no idea what this look meant.
He put his head on his palm, leaning on his arm. His eyes locked on Avid's eyes, which shined like the sparks of fire.
Avid's eyes had locked onto Scott's very own eyes.
Scott never understood how such a foolish man had survived for so long in the wild, especially if he goes into a place where a hungry beast rested.
Scott let out a hiss from his mouth through his fangs as he looked down at the floor whilst a wave of pain and dizziness flickered through his undead body.
The hunger pains were really something when he could only focus on them. He could hear fast yet steady steps go down the stairs and Avid rushing to his side, but he didn't acknowledge them just yet.
Scott is pretty weak now, only because the state between two levels was painful and definitely weakened the vampire for the short while.
The elder vampire is pretty sure he should be expecting a stake to his heart by now from the hunter nearby, maybe some mocking remarks. Instead of it, he felt warm calloused hands grab his face.
His eyes snapped to Avid's face. The man was clearly surprised by how Scott just looked awful, unlike the times when the man mocked the hunter in front of the entire town.
It felt so wrong for scott to look like that, in Avid's very own opinion, like seeing a whitering flower.
The midnight magenta and the almost red magenta met, practically like a vortex pulling each other's gazes to one another.
Like those silly chinese finger traps, not letting either of them break out of their gazes for the short moment.
It felt like time had frozen for them and only them. They were practically the only beings in the universe to each other in this waking moment.
That was until Scott's head fell to his chest as another wave of pain. It snapped Avid back to the reality of things.
How Scott was in pain from what was obviously hunger if the vampire hunter could tell from how the blue haired male was gripping his stomach and hissing.
Avid knew he shouldn‘t be here with a starving vampire.
It's in the creatures nature to attack anything flowing with blood and with a beating heart, yet Avid stayed when he realized Scott was holding himself back for whatever reason.
Scott wasn't sure why he wasn't just tearing at Avid's neck.
His head was full of the echo of Avid's heartbeat, of the sweet metalic red blood flowing through the mortal hunter's body like it was a cure to all of Scott's current problems he was having.
He didn't know why he hadn't pulled away from the other's grip or why he hadn't made the man leave for his own safety.
Scott didn't know anymore. Even with living for over a thousand years, he didn't know why he wasn't listening with his instincts to attack the man who had done him wrong.
Why didn't he just sucked the man of every single drop of blood he had to offer.
Maybe because he just couldn't like the idea of seeing Avid's eyes dry up of all the spark of light he had in them, maybe Scott was just being an idiotic vampire, letting himself starve.
Avid tightened his hold on Scott's face when he felt the blue haired monster try to pull away.
He grabbed the bottle of blood with his right hand and said thanks in his mind to everything holy that he had actually listened to himself and brought this cow blood to his surprise visit to Scott.
Scott froze for a second when he felt the grip on his face tighten, and then that sickingly delicious and sweet smell of metallic blood invaded his airways.
Like a thirsty man finding water in the middle of the desert, he couldn't help but try to raise his hand to reach for whatever was holding the thing Scott oh so craved.
Yet instead of being able to grab the thing he wished for, he felt cold glass press to his lips. He felt his head tilted up, and blood was now slowly pouring into his mouth.
It felt refreshing and amazing to finally have food after starving. His mind became clearer, or just clear enough to know Avid was the one helping get the food in, and Scott didn't care. He can question that foolish Hunter much later after Scott is back to his normal consciousness.
Avid was quite surprised at how clearly starved Scott was.
He almost had stabbed the man with his silver sword when he noticed those sharp black nails reaching for him, and then he realized that Scott's eyes were locked onto the bottle of fresh blood.
Those eyes were so dilated as soon as the bottle of the red liquid was open it was clear that Scott wasn't exactly very lucid.
After Scott had dranken up every last bit of the blood that was offered to him. His head rested now on the edge of the coffin's side, eyes half closed.
He was still processing everything that had happened, and Avid was still there, in the crypt of a cursed creature.
The little hunter wasn't so afraid now that Scott looked closely, but it didn‘t quite matter to the immortal being.
For some reason, Scott felt that he could sleep quite well with knowing Avid was nearby.
But instead of taking up that charming little offer of resting for another short while, he decided to speak with Avid.
Purely from curiosity, not everyone would just go into a place where a hungry monster was supposed to be resting.
"Why are you back here, little hunter?" Avid snapped his attention back onto Scott at hearing that the elder was addressing him.
He could see sleep pulling at Scott's mind. Honestly, Avid thought vampires didn't need or like to sleep. It seems he was wrong on the didn't like part.
Yet he couldn't think of an answer to help diminish Scott's questioning gaze, which held strictly on Avid only.
"I.. I am not sure." He could feel blush burn on his skin like he had just gotten out of the coldness of a snow storm that left his cheeks bright red, even though it was mostly from embarrassment.
Scott hummed, not exactly in a mocking way. Though Scott was clearly in thought. "And yet you helped me. You fed me with fresh blood when you were able to only land a mere gaze at my body screaming for hunger? It feels like you've grown a heart for a vampire like me."
The end was a bit more teasing if Avid could tell more the toothy grin Scott was showing off with tired eyes.
"I am unable to repay you at all at this current moment as my body is still recovering from starving for so long."
Avid froze at the acknowledgment of weakness, hands still tightly wrapped around himself.
He should be scared or try to kill scott since he hated vampires, yet as he thought he couldn't help but feel enthralled by Scott's tired yet ethereal look. "...may I stay here for a bit, that's how you can repay."
Scott raised an eyebrow. "If that is what you wished for, then yes. Though block out the crypt door, shelby and Pyro will come by to visit in the near future."
Avid's eyes widened, and he looked straight at those pretty eyes that Scott had. They were once sky blue and Avid missed it, but red did look quite pretty for the other.
He's not sure why he wanted to stay, but he was also a fool. Maybe he could rest up before having to deal with town like he had been doing.

Chapter Text
Two full days and nights had passed since Avid stayed in the crypt with Scott. The man had been asleep for that time, like a statue, not even moving a muscle.
Yet he was still stunning in the light the lanter was providing, like those ancient statues from long, long ago are.
Avid kinda had been looking through the entire cript for anything interesting for the first day.
There wasn't exactly anything interesting, probably because it was to trap a vampire from the runes on the pillars he just noticed.
He did find old books of journals. He couldn't read it because of how outdated the language was, but some of the older doodles were interesting to analyze, especially when he had to hide from the other vampires, which he now realized that shelby was apart of, shocking truly.
It wasn't as bad as he thought to be stuck even if willingly, with a vampire since the vampire slept this whole time, but he did wonder how it would have been if scott was fully awake.
For the second day and night, Avid stayed by Scott's side strictly just to make sure the man wouldn't wake up and lunge at Avid.
Yeah, strictly because of that, definitely not because of anything else.
He had been looking at Scott for a few minutes since midnight had hit, Avid should have gone to sleep for the night, but his body just wouldn't let him rest.
He didn‘t mind. He should mind, but he didn't see the point to that.
He played with a small bit of the collar of Scott's jacket that was sticking out of the coffin purely because of boredom.
He had gotten a bit of a look of Scott's neck where a long faded bitemark showed under the ruffled collar.
It seems like the jacket Scott wore made it a good disguise for the male's true nature of evil and vampiric heritage.
Yet he couldn't exactly blame Scott for having it. It did look good on him.
He hummed with a tune he created for himself out of boredom from having to stay in this place.
It was his choice, and yet he wondered what was happening in the outside world. Maybe his friends were worried for him? Avid could only hope so. After all, he did care for them.
He leaned his head closer to see Scott's face clearer, and then he saw the other was smiling widely at him, fully awake.
His eyes were opened with the corners scrunched up from his wide smile.
Avid froze for just a second before he jumped up and backed away, blush burning into his cheeks at being caught staring at Scott sleeping like a weirdo.
He could hear the other laughing at him, and Scott sat up. Stretching his arms out from the slow numbness of sleep.
Avid was still trying to get the blush of embarrassment off his face, not noticing when Scott got out of his coffin.
Scott was looking at Avid's pretty face. His face was so incredibly red that Scott couldn't help but start giggling. Truthfully, Scott didn't expect to be awake without a stake hovering over his body.
But, from Avid's nervous and embarrassed bluster, it did calm Scott's nerves for the fact that the hunter hadn't truly tried to kill him.
Very foolish, but oh well, not his current problem.
Scott reached for his collar of the jacket just to notice it had a bent on the left side like someone had been playing with it whilst he he was deep in sleep.
He tilted his head whilst fixing the little hiccup to his carefully curated look.
Then his eyes snapped to avid. The man was peeking through his fingers just to get a look at Scott, almost like Avid was in the presence of one of the prettiest people to ever graze the land of the earth. Yet Scott wasn't sure what this look meant.
Actually, he wasn't sure what any of the looks avid had shown him the last time he was awake meant either.
Scott really should figure out what these feelings he is seeing and feeling are. Shelby, maybe? She does seem to know far more about these emotions than Owen or Pyro.
He took a step, and another, like he was careful of the space he was in. He tilted his head, as he was now only a few centimeters away from the other's male whose face was bright red like a glass of blood.
"Hello again, I was expecting you to be gone when I was awake, or me having a stake drived right into my heart."
He didn't sound angry, and Scott wasn't. He was just curious to know what had been running through Avid's mind to make him stay by Scott's side through the entirety of Scott's rest without even trying to slaughter Scott.
Even if they both knew Avid's blood would be drained if he even tried to attack Scott.
Well, only Avid was sure of that, Scott couldn't exactly make himself like the idea of a rotting corpse that looked suspiciously like Avid's body.
Like seeing a dead dog by the side of the road, a bit weird.
The other stayed frozen before he spoke with this nervous edge laced in the tone. "I- Oh, I....I forgot my stake?"
Scott raised an eyebrow, fully knowing that Avid was lying. He never left his stake behind unless he purposely did as such.
Though Scott found it quite humorous at how much of a scared puppy avid looked like. "Sure." Scott shrugged, clearly telling Avid Scott wasn't convinced but won't question what Avid had said.
He let his hands rest across his chest. Avid couldn't help but feel his head spin and his heart beating at such a fast pace.
He got jumpscared by Scott being awake, and he should have already calmed down. Yet, when he looks at Scott's effortlessly glamorous and elegant look, he can't help but feel weak at the knees from just having a mere glance at the man before him.
"Now, my darling hunter. What are your next steps from now?" Darling, that word echoed through Avid's mind like he was in an empty abyss. Scott just called him darling, and his heart was beating like a mini hurricane.
"...I should return back to the town?" Avid sounded like he was the one asking questions, and Scott couldn't help but feel like the man was truly pitiful. "You need an alibi, dear. They won't just take your word."
Avid nodded hesitantly, and then he felt a hand slowly and gently take his arms and lifted them.
Scott smiled, quietly placing a bag of silver, Cooper, and other materials.
"Here, this would surely get you out of some trouble you might be getting yourself into by saying you were just out of town for full two days for no reason. Just say you were out mining, alright, little hunter?"
Avid felt the weight of the materials now in his hold, Avid was uncertain if he should even trust Scott at this moment after only spending a pair of days together, most of the time it was when Scott was asleep.
The vampire definitely wanted something.
"What, what do you want for these?" The other shrugged, not minding to answer such a silly question that the vampire hunter had proposed to him.
"It's quite simple." Scott took a pause, thinking of how he should word what he was trying to tell avid. "You come to visit me once in a while."
"And why should I? You could be pulling me into a trap!" Avid found some strength in his own voice, but he was still quite charmed by Scott, who himself was clueless of the inner turmoil avid was currently carrying in his heart of confusing feelings and of something else that the other held close to his own heart.
"And why should I trap you? Not like you have any use for me to be a vampire, but you dying would cause too much chaos between the townfolk back in Oakhurst." With a small sigh, Scott dismissed the question he had been given, yet he answered a bit of it.
Avid reeled himself back with surprise. The blue haired man was clearly genuine unless he knew exactly how to gaslight Avid to the fullest of his strengths, which would be quite an impressive feat Scott had done if he had already figured out what exactly ticked avid off into anger or perhaps annoyance at another living being or maybe at the undead would fit more with Scott.
"N- fine. But I don't know if we should meet here, the other townfolk could find us so can the other vampires."
Scott grinned at avid, happy to know that Avid decided to agree to the small Itty bitty deal Scott wanted from the paranoid guy.
"You make a good point, my dear. Let's meet at the pale forest then, right behind my castle, and then we can have a walk to our new meeting spot."
Avid raised an eyebrow, nor exactly expecting Scott to agree with him, but it didn‘t make him any less glad at the fact that he and Scott weren't arguing anymore.
This felt only nice, calm even. Avid liked this current atmosphere that was between him and Scott.
He felt his heartbeat calm down as a calm ocean warmth shielded that heart that Avid had inside of him.
"That's - thank you, I guess." Scott just giggled, looking straight into Avid's eyes. Avid remembered when they were once the prettiest ocean blue like the calm wave sof the ocean eyes.
He missed those perfectly blue eyes now, but he couldn't help but blush at the bright magenta red eyes Scott had.
They were quite beautiful even now as Scott looks so intimidating in this poorly lit room of the underground of the castle.
Scott put his hand to ruffle Avid's hair slightly. His smile never fell off. "I should be thanking you for agreeing." Scott's eyes were almost magnetizing for Avid.
The bag of materials felt heavy in the mortals' hands like he was carrying the world in that same bag.
"Now go, little hunter. The other vampires are out. I don't feel their presence near or in the castle." And that was the go ahead for avid who rushed to reopen the entrance to the tomb and leaving. Scott stayed down there for a moment. There was a bit of blush on his face.
Clearing his throat, the man started to leave the ancient tombs to go back into the open night sky.
Scott had been a bit distracted for the past few days.
Both shelby and Pyro knew that it wasn't about the fact that right after he awoke, the entirety of the coven was found out, or that two new vampires had been made yet they stay with the mortals.
No, he didn't seem to care much about it. Yet both shelby and Pyro were concerned, so shelby decided to ask Scott. "Scott?" The other glanced at her with a raised eyebrow. "Yes?"
Pyro decided to continue. "Are you alright, sire? You seem to be really distracted lately." Shelby nodded, clearly having the same concerns as Pyro.
"Yeah! Like you've been thinking about something else." The blue haired vampire just chuckled.
"Oh, don't worry, you two. But I do have a question for shelby to answer as I am quite curious."
Shelby tilted her head. "What is it?" Scott smiled at her being willing to answer his question.
"Recently, I've been experiencing an emotion. I have no idea what it is. My thoughts have been plagued with one person."
"Whenever I think of them or speak to them, my face heats up, and it feels like my heart is beating again. Do you perhaps know what it would be?"
Shelby looked at him with her eyes wide, whilst Pyro was chocking on the blood he had been drinking out of his glass. Neither of them expecting this. Shelby gathered her thoughts. "That, um, sounds like you're in love."
Scott thought about it. A bit of embarrassment was felt by him before he stood.
"Thank you, shelby. I should get going. We need to refill put blood supplies." And with that, Scott was gone, flying away as a bat.
The silence shared by Shelby and Pyro was the loudest it has ever been. "Should we tell Owen about what sire just said?" Shelby just stayed quiet. "I'm not sure."
"Tell me what?" Owen appeared behind them, hands crossed over his heart, and his eyebrows furrowed.
Shelby looked at Pyro before looking at Owen, perfectly knowing it's better to not get Owen angry. "Scott is in love with someone."
Owen himself looked just as flabbergasted. "I was not exactly expecting that."

Pov of Scott the next chapter: fuck fuck fuck why must I be inlove and with that fool NOOOOO
Chapter Text
Scott had his face leaning against a pale oak tree. The shadows the night provided with his hair made it practically impossible to see Scott's face at all or emotions.
And yet, it was very clear that from the energy he was radiating, it was self hatred and disappointment.
Scott absolutely did not like the news he had gotten from one of darling fledglings. He apparently was in love with Avid, that pitiful hunter.
The whole Cleo and apo wanting to stay with the humans that happened three days ago didn't hit him as hard as this has hit Scott.
Scott was supposed to be the example of perfect excellency, elegance, and power and not fall in love with someone as paranoid and low class like that little hunter.
And yet, he did it anyways, and he couldn't be more disappointed in himself.
It wasn't like him to wallow in his own misery and just be like this.
But he had every right. The elder vampire hated himself so much, so, so much. Why must he fall in love with HIM of all people?!
The honey talking and the sweet nicknames were supposed to be teasing!
Was it teasing?
It's supposed to be teasing. And now Scott can not do anything about this.
Murdering Avid will make him sad or disgusted with himself, but not doing anything will make his mind worse.
This is the worst possible thing to ever happen to him. How could his own mind, his own body, betray him like this!
This is a worse fate than being cured or being staked at the heart.
Honestly, he's tempted to ask Martyn for a favor of doing that exact thing to Scott. But also, Scott isn't one to let himself fall so deeply into the pits of hell.
He sighed, his claws slowly piercing holes into his jacket. He will need to change it into his cloak after he gets to his final form.
Scott tried to distract himself from the little cute faces he remembered avid having. Or honestly, he was just trying to get rid of Avid's silly little face out of his head.
The little smug smile, or the angry looks - NO! He has to stop.
But he can only hear Avid's nervous and frantic theories or angry jabs at Scott running through his mind like a broken vinal.
Scott sat down, the back of his head leaning again the same pale oak tree.
He held his knees tightly to his chest, like an angry child.
But in Scott's current conundrum, it was because of the fact he has become so utterly and unbelievably smitten by someone lesser than himself, and he knows things would never work out.
Avid's a hunter for Lord's sake! Scott has found out that he became one of the things he hates quite a lot in other people he had to interact with.
A lovesick fool!
Avid stared into the sky. His eyes glazed over at the current thoughts that came through his mind.
The pretty gemstone red eyes stuck in his mind like a flash of lightning in an old photograph.
That pretty pale sky blue hair haunts his every waking moment of life, since he left the crypt and most of the townsfolk believed his fake alibi, minus legundo and Martyn.
He sighed quietly to himself. He had been rewriting the same letter for hours now, and yet it wasn't perfect.
He looked through the window of his home in the town of Oakhurst and saw a blue-gray tanager. The bird reminded avid of Scott's hair.
The hunter's roommate glanced at the man. Raising an eyebrow and stepping behind Avid.
Drift put her hand on Avid's shoulder, snapping him out of whatever trance he had been stuck in for the past few days.
"Avid, bud, what are you day dreaming about?" Her voice had curiosity in it. Confusion was also there with concern. It wasn't that common for Avid to be so deep in thought or just having that look of pure unfiltered buzziness.
"Drift, I've been feeling something that is my first time feeling, and I'm not quite sure. Could I ask you for your help?"
He asked with a tilt of his head to wait for the other's answer to his request for help with dealing with an emotional problem.
Drift raised an eyebrow before pulling out a chair for herself. "Yeah, of course Avid, I don't mind helping my friend out."
Avid sighed like the world had already buried its ugly claws into Avid's shoulder.
"So, recently, I've only been able to think about one person. And my heart feels like it's going on a marathon whilst I just malfunction. Each time, I imagine their perfect hair or their pretty and bright eyes. Their remarks."
"How everything and anything keeps reminding me of them. Their laugh or how they see themselves as all powerful."
He finished, already looking like he would go back to that trance like state. That goofy smile that had stuck to Avid's face as he thought about this person.
Drift tilted her head, thinking about what Avid could be experiencing before she frowned and looked straight at Avid.
Then she thought again, and then her eyes went back to Avid.
And then she realized what that look was. It was the same look she herself has whenever shelby is mentioned. It is the same look that Pearl and Cleo share.
It was the same look the doctor had whenever he said he wanted to find a cure, and under his breath, he muttered about it being for Owen.
It was pure, unadulterated love that Avid has been feeling. Or, at the very least, it was some sort of crush, yet it was the fact that Avid had fallen in love none the less.
Drift sighed. She was far too curious not to want as much information as she could possibly gather and uphold in her brain.
"Could you perhaps describe this person you are speaking of?" Avid just shook his head. "Not really. Their bright hair and pale skin are too noticeable." He murmured the last part.
Bright hair? There's like three to four people with bright hair, so it does lower the number of people in this little mystery drift decided to want to know of.
Pale skin now was also somewhat easy. Only Martyn and Scott have very pale - oh... oh gods. Drift's eyes widened with realization before she just put her head into her hands. Processing a new revelation.
Scott was the one Avid always talked about or thought about, so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise about avid that had pure hatred for scott started to become more infatuated with that certain bloodsucker.
Or maybe Avid has just been just in denial for his true feelings for Scott?
Either way, drift wasn't exactly surprised. She is disappointed in the fact that apparently Avid's taste for men was of a noble man who had a habit of making fun of him and also being egotistical in some way, shape, or form.
Drift isn't going to be a hypocrite, though. She loves shelby even as a vampire, so she won't be shaming avid about falling in love with one.
But she can and will be very disappointed at the fact that Avid has either a weird taste in men or he has just absolutely terrible taste, really depends.
"Avid... I'm so heavily disappointed yet not surprised that you are in love, and with Scott of all people!" She leaned her headback. Avid's eyes widened, and he shook his head. "IN LOVE. Of course, I'm not in love. I would never love another. There's no way in everything that is holy, and Scott of all people!? I would never love him he's a horrible monster, and he's evil. Even if he has a handsome face that i could look at all day and an interesting personality and history, he's still a vampire, and I would never be in love with...him."
Avid stopped for a second, replaying everything he had just said. Now catching his compliments in a sentence that was supposed to not be giving any chance to show that he was truly in love with the blue haired man.
"...oh." He whispered to no one in particular. "Are you angry." He asked with at least some dignity to sound ashame with himself.
Drift let out a puff of air. "Not really. I like shelby, and she's a vampire, so I can't say I'm angry at you liking Scott of all people. But I don't know if he is safe to be around."
"He is!" Avid interrupted before clamping his mouth with his hands.
Drift caught the shocked look Avid was carrying before signaling him to continue what he wanted to say.
"Um, well remember when I said I've been mining for the two days I've been missing and the materials I've had with me?"
Drift nodded, interested to know where this whole thing was supposed to be going.
"Well, that was a lie. I kinda stayed in Scott's crypt as he slept because a day before I disappeared, I found Scott starving in his cript and I had cow blood with so I kind of fed him because I wanted to rest away from the town for a bit. And I only knew Scott was ther because before even that happened, I stumbled upon him in the crypt after getting kicked out of town."
He took a breath after just spamming everything he wanted to say.
Drift raised an eyebrow.
"And he didn't kill you or turn you?" Avid shook his head. "N-no. He actually let me stay in the crypt whilst he slept so he could repay me for helping him and also invited me to meet with him from time to time in the pale oak forest."
Avid looked like an excited puppy as he spoke about what he had been offered.
Drift couldn't help but be suspicious of Scott's intentions to asking Avid to meet him in such an isolated place as those woods.
But she knew Avid was stubborn, especially if it came from his curiosity. "Fine, I'll keep this secret, but bring a dagger and / or a stake to your meetings just in case scott goes feral and decided that tearing your actual heart out of you is far more interesting for him to do than chat with you about something silly."
Avid's magenta eyes sparkled like a nebula exploding with absolute utter joy to know that drift would keep his feelings a secret.
She even decided to keep it secret about Avid wanting to meet Scott every so often or what he did actually do instead of mining for two entire days.
He grinned a toothy grin at the woman who just shook her head in a bit of frustration and a small touch of amusement of how Avid's hatred was quickly turned into flattering and a big crush on Scott.
One of the most deadly people around or near them all.
Drift couldn't help but feel worried for her roommate and also hope for the best, which she herself didn't know what it was.
To be fair, now that she looks about Scott's and Avid's situation, oddly reminded her of that trope that both shelby and M. had mentioned ahwile ago.
Though drift doesn't exactly remember what the trope was called, she did remember what it was like, and it suspiciously was now reassembling the situation happening in front of her own very eyes.
She looked at the letter, and it was clearly meant to be delivered to Scott. She could tell from how carefully everything was written in pure cursive.
Avid's writing was usually a lot more messy as he doesn‘t think much whilst also writing anything.
And yet he had been trying to write a beautiful letter to Scott.
She smiled softly at the view and looked back at Avid's sheepish face.
"You are taking this whole falling in love with your worst enemy quite well." Avid just smiled and nodded. "Yeah, yeah, I guess I am."
Avid knew he was. And he's glad at that fact that even if he knew that after his brain fully processed everything, he would be quite angry at himself.
Notes:
Next chapter is gonna be avid having to deal with the fact that he's actually in love and not in trance hehe >:D
