Chapter 1: (0) Basic info
Chapter Text
A little background before we get into it. I don't know much about omega verse other than what fanfics I've read and personal additions, so this is how it works in this
All designations have scent glands on their necks and typically stay in packs
Omegas-
They aren't common, male ones are especially rare. They are more sensitive to things such as scents, and more vulnerable against other designations.
Male omegas are very rare, have a more feminine figured, and have both genitalia
Omegas have markings on their face that show they are omegas
They are typically homemakers due to instincts, and go soft for kids
Betas-
More of a neutral sector, can be male or female, pretty common, no strong instincts for things other than scents, have markings on their necks
Alpha-
Uncommon but not rare, more likely to see a male one than a female.
Sensitive to scents especially omegas, very strong instincts.
Female alphas have both genitalia, and a more masculine figure
Have markings on their wrists
Chapter 2: (1) move in day
Summary:
Keith is finally moving into his new dorm, but has yet too meet who he will be rooming with

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Keith was glad to finally be moving into his college dorm. It was a fresh start, he could finally get away from all those kids at his high school, more specifically, get away from Lance McClain. The guy was an ass, always trying to one up him and prove he was better, as if it isn't hard enough to prove himself in school as a male omega without some dickhead alpha trying to prove he was better!
At least keith was finally away… for now.
It had been a habit to cover up his markings with makeup, it was just such a hassle to wipe it off every time just to show his designation! Keith also wore scent blockers, it was safer that way, most omegas wore them. Both of these combined made most people assume he was a beta, because he was obviously too weak to be an alpha and he was pretty short at only 5’3. He never corrected them, just let people assume. Only those close to him knew the truth, it was easier than having to deal with a bombard of questions about what its like to be a make omega and all the personal details.
So here keith was, walking inti his room for the next year. He was sharing it with some alpha, he hadn’t cared to figure out who. It was a pretty new thing for alphas and omegas to room together, its a pretty big safety problem.
So any alpha who is in a combined dormitory has to be approved and any omega has to state on their application that they are comfortable with it or else they get put into an omega only dorm.
The room was empty, his roommate hadn’t arrived yet, not that keith cared. He didn’t plan to see them all that much, he wasn’t the sociable type. So instead he focused on unpacking, he picked a bed and the half of the room he wanted before he began putting things away and doing a kittle decorating. His name being the only one written in the whiteboard on the outside of his door so far.
Maybe college wouldn’t be so bad, as ling as his roommate wasn’t annoying.
Notes:
I hope you enjoyed the first chapter. This was my first Fic so i am open to criticism or anything you would like me to add!
Chapter 3: (2) Lances turn
Summary:
Lance is moving in!
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Lance had spent a while helping his friends move in rather than himself, so now it was just getting dark when he got to his dorm. He was in the combined dorm and was pleased to find his roommate was an omega- he just hoped he didn’t seem like a creep, he was known to be a bit flirty and never knew when to shut up.
It seems his roommate already moved in, which was to be expected with how long he took to make it to this point. Their half of the room had a pretty dark and gothic look to it, though he wasn’t gonna snoop to find out if thats the sort of person they were, he could respect that small privacy they might want.
Lance had a decent build, pretty tall, pretty strong, stereotypical alpha, he was hoping that wouldn’t scare his new roommate, wherever they were because they didn’t seem to be in the dorm. Odd, omegas dont normally go out in the dark because its a safety hazard, but maybe they were just at a friends.
Once lance finally managed to unpack all his belongings, he grabbed a marker and added his name to the whiteboard he’d seen on his door when he walked in. He took note of his roommates name, Keith- sounds familiar.
It was pretty late so lance just decided to crash on his bed already, maybe he would meet his roommate tomorrow?
Notes:
I just wanna right the fun stuff already, but i gotta do the intro chapters 😞
Chapter 4: First meeting
Summary:
Keith finally crosses paths with his roommate after weeks of avoiding them
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Keith finally felt like he was getting into the flow of things here, and it only took a couple weeks. Sure it was a little uncomfortable in his dorm room at the moment with there being no familiar scents and an overwhelming scent of alpha where his nesting space should be, his roommate obviously spent a lot of time in the dorm. But he had a routine now, one that he was falling into easily.
It was a Thursday evening, so Keith should be having his art class right about now, but it was cancelled due to the professor having to deal with a suddenly sick child. No big deal, Keith would normally just go to the library or his older brother shiro’s place, but he was tired and his clothes have been annoying him all day to the point he nearly cried- so best to get out of them.
Keith has never actually been in his dorm around this time, he was always busy, so it was a surprise to him to find his roommate there. Shit, Keith hadn't actually planned on meeting his roommate yet. He was a little anxious about it (not that he’d ever admit that) because he knew it was an alpha.
He tried to go unnoticed and just grab some clothes so he could book it to the bathroom to shower, but instead he heard a weirdly familiar voice from his roommates bed
“Keith?”
Keith turned around, mentally preparing for an awkward introduction they should have had awhile ago but froze when he clocked who it was
“Lance?!”
Just Keith's luck! Get stuck with a cocky alpha from high school whose entire life's purpose seemed to be trying to one up him (as if it isn't hard enough to prove he's more than a homemaker as an omega!) and flirt incenselessly with everything that moves.
“Oh no, no way, absolutely not! I am not rooming with you!” keith quickly said in protest
“Oh like this is any better for me? Plus you’re never even around so what's the big deal?” Lance was under the idea that the petty rivalry they had was just a playful thing they both did for fun, he had no idea how much it pissed Keith off or that it made his life incredibly difficult.
“What's the big deal? We don't get along! I’ll never be able to sleep knowing it's your scent that lingers around my nest! Its difficult enough as it is knowing its an alphas scent”
Keith huffed before finally grabbing some clean pyjamas and leaving to go to the communal dorm showers, the omega ones, designations may be allowed to share rooms and sleep two feet apart but god forbid they shower in cubicles in the same block
Keith took his time, washing his hair, removing his scent blocking patches since he couldn't wear them 24/7, and overall trying to feel clean. His pyjamas were a simple blue, long sleeves and trousers.
By the time he got back to the room lance seemed ready for bed too, figures he was gone for like an hour
“Oh so you’re actually spending the night here for once?” lance remarked sarcastically, no real bite to it
“Shut up, I do all the time” Keith knew he was lying, he crashed at Shiro's normally. But it wasn't his fault! He didn't feel comfortable in a strange new place and he was expected to sleep peacefully around unfamiliar scents? No way, he tried to sleep here the first week but it was too overwhelming, so he opted to stay at Shiro’s until his dorm smelt a bit more like him and he was comfortable enough to actually make a real nest there.
Keith brushed through his soft locks, giving himself two small braids while ignoring the eyes on him. He wasn't going to give Lance the satisfaction of a reaction, that's probably what he wanted right?
His hair was normally curly, he just hated the way it was impossible to get out his face like that, so he straightened it every day, it was easier to clip back like that. He took his contacts out before turning off the lamp on his side of the room to go to sleep. The only source of light left was the soft glow of the sticky stars he added to the ceiling of his side. That was actually pretty cute, who knew he had good taste in decor?
His bed was big, too big. It was supposed to comfortably accommodate an alpha, but he was an omega, a notable size difference there. It left plenty of room to build a decent nest when he finally felt ready. As for now it not only made him feel smaller as he drifted to the dream world, but looked adorably tiny.
Notes:
I was recommended to not write everything in italics, so this chapter follows accordingly. as always this is my first piece so any criticism, tips, or just love is very appreciated, I'm always looking to improve!
Thank you so much for reading, I'll try not to wait too long before posting chapters! xx
