Chapter Text

Izuku was 4 when he was diagnosed quirkless. His mother felt she was unfit to take care of him (she hated him for being the cause of all her problems). So he was sent to an orphanage where he lived (survived) for a year.

Then, when Izuku was 5, a nice couple came to the orphanage to pick out a child. He really wasn’t that interested(he learned not to get his hopes up. But by a sheer force of luck, the couple picked him. Their names were Shota and Hizashi.

His life was good after that. He had parents who loved him, a cat named Odysseus, who he found with a string bow around his neck that his parents let him keep. Even if things were bad at school, he was happy that he got to come home to his loving family. But that all changed when he showed up.

When Izuku was 8, he was sitting on the couch reading a book with Ody in his lap, sleeping soundly, when his parents came home with a tall purple-haired boy. They introduced him as Hitoshi Shinso and said he was going to be living with them from now on.

Izuku didn’t have a problem with Hitoshi; he wasn’t much of a talker, which was fine, but it was when he started blaming small, petty things on Izuku. It started small, like telling his parents Izuku was the one who had left his action figures out when Izuku cleaned them up, and Hitoshi came and messed them up. Stuff like that, but it progressively got worse.

One day, Izuku got home from school with fresh burns from Bakugo's explosions. While he still went to Aldera in all its discriminative glory, Hitoshi went to a stuffy private school that had a zero-tolerance bullying policy.

So he went to his room to start his homework. He was in there for about an hour working on some analysis when his dad called for him from the living room.

He stepped into the room, feeling the tension and hostility in the air. His dad was standing there, arms crossed over his chest, Hitoshi sitting on the couch with an ice pack over his eye, and his papa was also on the couch consoling the former.

“Izuku, Hitoshi said that you told some classmates of yours to attack him.” now wasn’t that the accusation of the decade.

“I didn’t do it” his said as his defense

His papa chimed in with an uncharacteristically harsh voice “what proof do you have?”

“My classmates don’t speak to me” he mumbled

“He’s lying, I saw him do it” Hitoshi said and when his parents turned away Izuku saw the smug grin on the others face.

“But I-“ Izuku tried but was cut off by his dad

“But nothing you are grounded and I’m taking your phone”

All izuku could do was sigh and he returned to his room to grab his phone to hand it to his dad.

Things went on like this for years. His house was no longer a place of refuge it was hell. His parents stopped talking to him and sometimes forgot to make him dinner unless of course he ‘did’ something to their precious Hitoshi. So when he was 12 started hanging out on the trash beach. Sometimes he would sleep there and go back to the apartment (it stopped being a home years ago) Shota and Hizashi wouldnt say anything. He kept working on his analysis he also learned how to build support items and code. He started an analysis series about hitoshi, Shota and Hizashi he kept them under his bed. He had a routine that he was happy to stick to

One day however was different.

It started normal enough with his classmates picking on him in between classes. At the end his homeroom teacher came in talking about careers for everyone then threw the sheets talking about everyone wanting to be a hero. If he was being honest izuku hated that word ‘hero’ it had no meaning to him anymore he only analysis them because its good practice. Both his ‘parents’ are heroes they are training hitoshi for the UA entrance exam but why should he care it only means they spend less time with him sure he is less than thriving but he has Ody so life is just fine right now.

(anyway back to your regularly scheduled program)

After that everyone started using their quirks which is illegal but oh well. Then Bakugo starts talking about being the best and the teacher being the hater he is says “oh midorya arent you going for UA too”

Izuku stops reading for a second “yeah the support course” so the thing is izuku was lying while away from the strangers he called his family he had been working on a portfolio to send to I-Island academy for a scholarship program that the school offered. If his calculations were correct the letter should be coming today.

Everyone was in shock because they think quirkless means stupid. Izuku feels hands press into his desk and is promptly thrown into the wall by one of bakugos explotions. The bell rings and everyone scurried out until its just izuku, bakugo and his 2 lakies. One of the lakies took his notebook and handed it to bakugo who exploded it and threw it out the window.

“Dont even try applying to UA even if it is the support course, if you really want to be of use to the world there might be another was just pray for a quirk in your next life and take a swan dive off the roof of the building” he snarled before making his exit leaving izuku.

Izuku went outside to grab his notebook he decided to take the long route to the beach.

While in an underpass he heard something from behind him it was the sound of a manhole cover opening suddenly he felt a presence over him.

“Perfect a medium sized skin suit to hide in”

A slime monster engulfed him and started shoving the slime down his throat just as everything was going black he heard a faint yell.

“TEXAS SMASH”

He woke up with a slap to his face. He sat up to get a look at his savior and omg it was

AllMight the #1 hero and symbol of peace also his idol. “Are you alright young man?” he asked

“I’m fine thank you for saving me” he said great fully. All might just nodded at him and smiled before jumping away in one swift motion that made izuku fall over due to the wind pressure.

Izuku got up and almost on autopilot walked back to the apartment. He grabbed the mail from the mailbox and on top was a envelope addressed to him from the academy. He opened the letter on the way up. Izuku was shocked to find out that he had been excepted to the academy on a full scholarship, inside were details of his flight that left in 2 days and where he would be staying. It all felt like a fever dream until.

When he opened the door he saw Shota, Hizashi and Hitoshi standing there waiting for him, in there hands were his analysis series about them. The pristine books were held roughly in each of there hands. \

“Do you want to explain to us why you have a set of notebooks under your bed that list our weaknesses and ways to get rid of us?” Shota asked angrily. After the day he had had izuku was not up for dealing with this and he honestly was done with the people that he could have considered his family

“Why do you think cant you read in between the lines” izuku spat he was absolutely done being pushed around by everyone.

“Hes dangerous” “hes going to hurt us in our sleep while we are defencless” Hizashi and Hitoshi said . wow dangerous was not something he had ever been called, useless, stupid sure but dangerous was different, new, something he unlocked by being seen for the first time.

He pushed past them all to get to his room, it had been ransacked books and pencils everywhere posters ripped and figurines broken. He got past that and grabbed his emergency bag from under his bed it had clothes, money, soap and food for both him and Ody. while he packed his ‘family’ was screaming at him about him being a disappointment, useless and for the first time a threat to their safety. He grabbed Ody walked to the door and turned around

“Where are you going?” Hizashi asked

“Away from you guys” was his response as he put his keys on the hook and prepared to walk out when Hitoshis annoying voice stopped him.

“You have nowhere else to go” he said

Well let the performance begin

He held up his letter “You taught me a lot. Not the things a kid’s supposed to learn from their family—but lessons all the same.I learned what silence sounds like when someone’s screaming for help.I learned what it means to stand alone. So… thanks, I guess. You showed me exactly the kind of person I’ll never be.” And with that he left that place for good
