Summary
The tornado tore through the convoy of the Long Walk like a machete through a stack of old wet newspapers. Tanks ruptured, disgorging wailing soldiers up to the maelstrom–-some even fired their carbines into the gale, as if that was going to fucking do anything.
The road itself, which had been a living thing to those who walked, was torn up by its filthy dark creosote roots–-was slurped, was sluffed, was devoured upwards into that abyssal maw.

The last seven Walkers survive and end up at a sinister farm in rural Maine. A fairytale of sorts.
