Work Text:
Clementine wants her mom. More than anything in the world, she wants her mom to come home and fix this. To change whatever has happened to Sandra and make it right.
Instead, there’s a man in her house. He’s old, like dad, limping across her porch and into the kitchen. She doesn’t recognise him, but she’s a bit too far away to see properly. The treehouse is safe, and her mom told her not to talk to strangers, so she stays and she watches.
He walks around, but he doesn’t take anything. Mom always said if a strange man got into their house, it would be to steal their TV, but he hasn’t touched it. He did touch their phone, though. Maybe he does know mom and dad, and he’s looking for them.
She speaks to him through her walkie talkie. His name is Lee, and he sounds nice.
Then Sandra appears.
“Look out!” Clementine yells, and ducks back into her treehouse.
Lee shouts from the house. She has to do something, to help somehow. But she’s too little to stop Sandra…
Dad’s toolbox sits on the porch, with all the dangerous things she’s not allowed to touch. Wrenches and screwdrivers and hammers.
“Here!” Clem picks up the biggest hammer and gives it to Lee, who is stuck under Sandra as she tries to bite his face.
He grabs the hammer and hits Sandra with it. Again, and again, until she stops moving. Clementines stands back, watching in horror as this strange man kills her babysitter.
