Nothing much really happened, the months following their transfer to Soumei.
Their classmates weren't mean to them and they didn't even bad mouth them, mostly they acknowledged them but didn't go out of their way to include them and honestly? Izumi was okay with that, she and Hitoshi had long since gotten used to it being just them.
Except that wasn't really the case anymore, their duo had become a trio.
Ever since the day they had met Iida-kun he stuck by them and it was.. Nice.
Even Hitoshi had relaxed around the uptight boy and now seemed to enjoy teasing the other boy with that smug grin of his, flustering the blue haired boy to the point of making his entire face red and his arms to start chopping like a robot on the fritz.
(Izumi had pulled Iida-kun to the side one day and told him that was just Hitoshi's way of showing affection, He got to tease you but no one else could, it was a rule.)
During lunch they would either eat in the classroom or lunch room, and after school the blue haired boy even began to hang out with them.
Which led them to their current predicament.
“I knew this was a bad ideal.” Hitoshi bemoaned and she shushed him softly even if she privately agreed that maybe what she had dragged the other two boys into might not have been the best choice of after school activities.
But really, hero battle hunting was fun!.
Sometimes.
“My brother is going to be so angry with me.” Iida-kun hissed and she patted his shoulder as an explosion rocked their small shelter.
“Be happy, you two might yet live, I on the other hand am as good as dead when my dad hears about this.” she risked a glance passed their place of hiding before she ducked back around with a low hum, face carefully blank while inside her head she was using words her dad would scold her for.
Or praise her, it depended on how creatively she used them.
See it happened like this, Izumi had heard about a new hero debuting a few days ago named Kamui Woods and today when she and her cousin and friend were out she got an alert that a battle was taking place between the wood hero and a villain, naturally she dragged both reluctant boys with her so she could flush out the new page in her notebook.
And then another villain showed up that could wield fire and wood boy began having trouble because apparently? He didn't know how to handle a situation where his quirk was useless.
Honestly, do hero's nowadays not know how to use basic hand to hand? I could name three different times he could have decked flame brain already!. Her mind hissed and she shut her eyes and banged the back of her head against the truck they were hidden behind.
They couldn't really run because flames were roaring a handful of meters away from them on either side and it was taking everything in her not the break down because Iida and Hitoshi were there and this was all her fault!.
Okay, think, calm head is a clear head and all that.
There were currently two villains, one who apparently could manipulate flames, and the other one was able to create oil slicks which were very flammable.
Honestly their teamwork rather impressive but still meant a bad situation for the three students.
“If I die, you can have my hero memorabilia Hitoshi, but Iida-kun gets all my Ingenium stuff.” her words were as dry as the air around them and Hitoshi wheezed before elbowing her.
“Aizawa-san, now is not the time for jokes.” Iida-kun muttered, face carefully blank if not for the twitching eyebrow.
And then Endeavor got there.
And made it worse.
“Oh for Fucks Sake.” she hissed, no longer caring if both boys heard her and this time slammed the back of her head against the car.
“the villain's have flame Manipulation and Oil Slicks you giant flaming idiot! You are the worst possible hero for this! Get frikken Backdraft or the Water Horses! Anyone but you!.”
Of course the hero did not hear her words, they were hissed in a whisper and he was currently trying to beat fire with fire... and losing.
Badly.
Number two he might be, but against a bad quirk match up he was woefully helpless to the point it was almost funny, the oil slick villain actually made the flame hero slip and land in the oil and because of his costume which was always on fire?
'Fwoom'
Up he went.
A loud smack had her look over to see Iida-kun with his hands over his face.
Hitoshi just laughed.
Totally Done™ Izumi fished her cellphone out, honestly even her dad's glare was better then this.
Dialing quickly she held the phone up and it rang a few times.
“Izumi?” the calm voice of her dad made her internally giggle because it wouldn't be calm for long, oh boy.
“Hey Dad! So how's your day been?” she asked as pleasantly as she could and Hitoshi shot her a look.
“What did you do now.” the dry tone had her wincing slightly before a slight explosion shook the ground and the silence stretched.
“What. Was. That.” she cringed this time.
“You know that villain fight that started up thirty minutes ago? Between Kamui Woods and the oil slick villain?.”
Whoosh! Went more flames as Endeavor decided that if his previous applications of flame hadn't worked, then he needed to use more.
“you're right in the middle of it, aren't you?.” her nervous laugh ended in a squeak as a burning piece of rubble impacted the building beside them and stuck there.
“Well it wasn't just an oil slick villain, there's also one that controls flames right? And well, Boom.” she gestured with her hand vaguely even if he couldn't see it and Iida hissed at her to keep it down.
“And then Endeavor showed up thinking he could fight fire with fire and... uh... it's not going well.”
“Don't forget when he made an ass out of himself and slipped like a rookie.” Hitoshi called back, phone out and recording the entire thing from beneath the car, far to used to this.
Iida was still nervous.
Iida would learn.
I'm on my way, don't move.” her dad's tone was bland and she hummed softly.
“Kinda can't, but I understand, love you and see you soon.” she said the last part as cheerily as possible.
“You're still grounded, but I love you too.” she sighed but hung up.
“why did you call your dad?.” Iida asked and moved closer to her side when flames roared and Endeavor got absolutely coated in oil.
His look was priceless.
“Oh, Uncle's a pro hero.” Hitoshi said distractedly and Iida stared at her and she smiled because yeah, they hadn't exactly told him.
“Underground so its not something I go around saying, but yeah.” she shrugged faintly and Iida's mouth opened and shut before he shook himself.
“I understand but right now I don't think is really the time, just please tell me he doesn't use fire or anything flammable?” his voice was pleading and she reached out to pat his shoulder softly.
“Nope, no fire, promise.”
Kamui's loud shouting about property damage didn't seem to effect the number 2 one iota and he only applied more flames and the heat was making her sweat, Hitoshi having already stripped off his Gakuran and tie and sitting in his white button down and even Iida had undone a few buttons.
Lucky boys, able to take off a few layers without public ridicule, grr.
Utterly bored while destruction happened a few meters away she pulled up the news feed and hummed as she watched the fight live from a helicopter hovering over the scene and-
“Hey, there's us!” she said cheerily and both looked over to her cellphone before they both looked up to see the chopper above them.
Still Done™ with the situation she leaned back and flashed a peace sign beside her eyes and Hitoshi snorted, wheezing in that odd laugh of his and Iida legit facepalmed.
“No no, C'mon this is our first time on TV.” she smacked the boys and Hitoshi joined her in her peace sign showcase but Iida just stared at them and both she and the purple haired boy stared back.
“One of us.” Hitoshi muttered.
“One of us.” she echoed and red eyes were incredulous.
“No, are you both crazy?!” his words were a harsh whisper and Hitoshi snorted, peace sign still held up beside his temple.
“We're gonna be heroes, we'd have to be a bit crazy, now smile for the camera engine legs.”
Iida gaped at them in shock before biting his lip.
“I must be insane.” he hissed, eyes scrunching closed but a slight breathless laugh escaping him as he held up a stiff peace sign and they all looked up and flashed smiles at the camera above them.
“Welcome to the Crazy Kids Club, we have granola” Izumi said cheerfully.
Decided to go a step further because why not? She pulled out a granola bar and handed one to both boys before cracking it open and slowly gnawing her way through it.
“Are you seriously eating now?!” Iida hissed incredulously, hand coming down and whipping his head to stare at her and Hitoshi guffawed as quietly as possible beside them.
“Gotta have them good nutrients, here, have some water.” she pulled out a water bottle next and handed it over, smirking when the camera crew hadn't pulled away from them and Iida sighed and uncapped the water bottle to take a drink before handing it over her head to Hitoshi.
“We're going to become memes, aren't we?” The purple haired boy said dryly and she hummed.
“Memes?” Iida asked and Hitoshi snorted.
And then suddenly half the flames guttered out and on the news reel she saw the villain's flames sputter out along with Endeavors.
The camera turned from them to the fight once more and she could barely see some gray fabric shoot out and encase both of the villains before her father well and truly thrashed them.
In fact it was kind of terrifying how soundly and quickly he beat them down, tied them up and left them to hang.
It happened all in less then a minute, the situation was done and taken care of.
Endeavor stood there looking like a sad, limp candle without a flame as her dad walked passed him, the other pro opening his mouth but her dad merely held up a hand and walked passed him towards the car all three students had hidden behind.
Seeing her dad approaching she sighed and decided to bite the bullet, standing and brushing debris and granola crumbs from her cloths as Iida and then Hitoshi both popped up on either side of her and her dad''s dark eyes took all three of them in.
“You're uninjured?” he asked gruffly and she gave a quick nod as police, the fire departed and an ambulance arrived to take care of everything else.
Her dad pointed to the emergency vehicles.
“Go get checked out by medical and head home kids.” dark eyes lingered on her for a moment before her dad turned to speak with some officers and she and the two boys walked to the medical personal.
“That.. was that your father?” Iida asked softly and she gave a faint hum and a nod and she saw the confusion and waved a hand.
“He's an underground hero but he still has enemies, showing more interest in me then a normal hero would just draw attention.” realization dawned on him and Hitoshi yawned and rubbed the back of his neck.
“Yeah, Uncle Shouta is actually a big mother hen when it comes to Izumi here, probably because she always gets into trouble.” the purple haired boy dodged around the kick she aimed at his shin but wasn't expecting the bap to his head and frowned but didn't say anything.
“I see, my family as well are always scrutinized, and the people who watch closely could just as well be someone with nefarious intentions towards us, though luckily nothing bad has happened so far.” the blue haired boy straightened then.
“Also! Your father is very efficient when dealing with villains, it took him nearly no time at all to deal with those two while the number 2 hero himself was having difficulties.” red eyes took in the destruction around them and the boy winced and Izumi could understand.
The entire area the fight had taken place in was torched, not to mention wrecked.
The repair bill for this would make her frugal little heart squeal in pain and she was glad she didn't have to pay for it.
“Not to mention he did it all without a single bit of property damage.” those words were said with a certain edge to them and Hitoshi grinned.
“Yeah, we don't really like the human torch either, doesn't seem like a nice guy and.. he's also kind of a dunce.”
it was only sheer luck they weren't within ear shot of the number 2 (who was back to happily setting himself on fire.) and the man himself could not hear their words.
“I..” Iida stopped himself and Izumi was impressed, she expected him to rush to the defense of such a 'renowned' hero.
“My brother does not like him much either.” he said finally while glancing pointedly away and Izumi felt herself smiling.
For a boy who admired his brother so much, she knew that he tried to emulate him as much as possible.
And if Ingenium himself did not like Endeavor, then it was very unlikely Iida would like him, either.
(It also said a lot about the man that one of the kindest heroes around didn't like him at all.)
After getting checked over and given the thumbs up from the medical personal there they were allowed home, Iida walking them as far as the train station before they split ways, and then her and Hitoshi parting ways to make their separate ways to their apartments.
Kicking her shoes off she released a deep sigh, pulled her uniform jacket off and knowing without a shadow of a doubt she would need to wash it thoroughly.
Tugging her tie loose and pulling it over her head she undid her hair tie and let her curly green hair loose, a quick look at the entry way showing her dad wasn't back yet.
Padding to her room she changed from her uniform into some comfy pajamas her dad had gotten her for her tenth birthday, the bright pastel monstrosity was an eyesore but it had cats and kittens all over it and was her favorite because it was comfortable, and right then? She needed that.
Collapsing on the couch it only took seconds for Skids to make his way into her lap, the gray cat purring like a motor already and she sank her fingers into the plush fur with a happy hum and gave him a liberal amount of ear rubs and chin scratches.
“I had a hell of a day Skids.” she told the cat and got a rumbly purr as a reply and huffed, reaching for the remote and clicking on the news.
As expected they were playing the clips from just a few hours ago and she snorted softly when she saw Endeavor's feet fly out from underneath him, land in a puddle of oil and catch on fire, it was like a comedy skit.
Then the camera panned to the car in the middle of it all, side facing an apartment building and-
Well, there they were.
It was amazing seeing herself on the news and the camera had zoomed in, the reporters voice exclaiming over students being caught in the crossfire and heroes unable to get to them due to the flames.
And then Izumi watched herself look up and give a peace sign, face perfectly bland in an almost perfect rendition of her dads face before she smacked both boys, Hitoshi looking up and flashing a peace sign boredly and eventually Iida joining in and they all smiled, Hitoshi's was a bit maniacal like her own but Iida's was pretty nice, he'd do well with camera's during his career for sure.
And then the her on the news pulled out snacks and coaxed her friends to eat.
“Hitoshi was right, we're so gonna become memes.” she said softly.
After a while she began to doze, the news a soft drone in the background as Skidmark purred in her lap.
She was jolted awake when the couch suddenly dipped, head jerking up and eyes blinking quickly before she was dragged into a warm side and the familiar smell of coffee and their laundry detergent filtered into her groggy mind.
“What am I going to do with you?” her dad sighed and she shifted to lean into him, Skid murring at them before shifting and getting comfortable in her lap again.
“to be fair, we didn't mean to get caught in that, we were well on the sidelines when everything went up in flames.” her words were a drowsy mumble and her dad sighed again and his head fell back to rest on the couch.
“I don't wholly blame you, though you should have been smart enough to get out before it got that bad.” that last sentence was said with a more strict tone and she grimaced and buried herself further into his side, arms wrapping around his torso as far as she could as she mumbled softly.
“I didn't think it would get that bad, I was expecting the heroes on scene to... I dunno, handle it easily? But they just.. Ran around.” she waved a hand and her father huffed and muttered something she couldn't quite catch.
“they rely on their quirks to much and their physical bodies to little when it comes to fights, its a fault a lot of heroes have when they've got flashy quirks like that.” she hummed softly and watched the news replay the fight again.
When she and her friends showed up on screen and she saw her and her friends flash peace signs her dad snorted.
“Really?” he asked and she flushed.
“at that point it was just getting stupid, okay?”
When the her on the TV brought out snacks and a bottle of water her dad shook with silent, barely controlled laughter.
“Well, for your first live debut it's not a bad one.” he said, voice carefully controlled and she bit her lip and shoved at him and he snickered a bit.
But no, it wasn't a bad one at all.
