Work Text:
Hinata wipes his sweaty palms on the shorts of his uniform. He's here. After all this time. After all the waiting, he's finally, finally here. He's long ago lost track of how many days he's spent away from Japan. Training, working himself into the ground, pushing himself to the limit. Evolving. He's better now. God, is he so much better now. When he tried out for the Black Jackals and he saw how the coaches and scouts looked at him, he knew. They understood he had improved, that he had fought, that he was not the same person who left two years ago. Far from it. He was shiny and new, and he had his sights set on taking it all. He also, maybe had his sights set on a tall, dark haired setter. But he was saving those thoughts for later. He had a feeling they both were.
This was his first game as part of the national team. His debut! He was going to blow them all away. He was going to make sure he blew him away, too. He could already here the loud cheering of the crowd, the claps and shouts. He could almost feel the vibrations from where he and the rest of the Jackals were waiting for their que to enter, in the wings of the stadium.
A hand clamped down on his shoulder and startled him out of his thoughts. He was not suprised to see Bokuto grinning brightly down at him.
"Are you ready for this, Shouyou?! You're debut!" The spiker pretty much only spoke in Caps Lock, much like Hinata.
Shoyou nodded and smiled, his body felt tingly all over. He was more than ready. He had been waiting on this for so damn long.
"Don't worry about me Bokuto-san, its the Adlers you should be checking on. We're gonna win!" Shouyou shouted, excitedly.
He wasn't lying, wasn't boasting, wasn't filling the air with meaningless words. They were going to win.
He was going to fly.
From the corner of his eye, Shouyou saw Atsumu abandon his resting spot on the wall, to walk over to them.
"Thats the spirit, Shouyou! Tobio-kun and Ushijima-san aren't gonna know what hit 'em! Ninja-Shouyou is gonna put everyone else to shame!" Astumu smirked, knowingly. Then he seamed to think about his words, and with his face scrunched, he amended, "Try not to steal all of our thunder though, we all still want to seem kinda interestin'."
Hinata shook his head, grinning wide. He loved his team and he couldn't wait to get out there and show Japan what they could do.
Shouyou turned to look at both of them, that familiar look of hunger in his eyes. That same look that he had in high school when he craved more, the same look he gazed at the bright beaches of Brazil with. He turned that gaze on his friends locked eyes with his teammates. "We are going to win," he stuck out his fists to be bumped, "together."
Two fist shot out to meet his.
It was time to play.
****
Waiting to see Tobio again was challenge. As soon has he was back in Japan, (after taking a 10 hour nap, to battle the jet lag), he wanted to see Tobio. Unfortunaly, professional volleyball players have a rigorous schedule, coinciding with the fact that Shouyou was now on his own professional team, they had a hard time finding a good time to meet. Meaning they decided to wait.
That isn't to say either of them were happy about this. Hinata could tell by Kageyama's strained tone, crackling though the speaker of the phone, that it was the last thing he wanted to do.
"We've waited two years, Tobio." Shouyou tried to comfort, knowing those words probably did as little for Kageyama as the did for himself.
"Whats one more month, right? Then you can see me. We can both stand on the same stage, and it'll be great! Totally romantic!"
Kageyama didn't say anything, but he did grunt.
Shouyou Tsk'd, "Don't grunt at me, dummy. I miss you, too, but we're gonna have to wait a little longer."
Kageyama sighed, the silence extending.
Shouyou you didn't say anything though, wanting to give Kageyama time to think, knowing the setter wanted to say something.
After a small pause, Kageyama stuttered over his words. "I-I know that. I know its only one more month, but-," there was a tiny hitch in Kageyama's voice, the smallest of inhales, "it's already been so long. I just...god, I miss you."
Shouyou blinked up at the ceiling of his apartment from where he stood in the kitchen. His original goal was to get a glass of water and a snack when Tobio had called. He answered without hesitation. Like always.
Now it was a game of blinking the tears away before they could spill over onto his freckled cheeks. How was being in the same country three hours apart so much harder than half way across the world?
"I miss you too, Tobio. You really have no idea how much. I've been working so hard to get back to you and finally beat you!" Hinata's watery laughter gave him away.
He sighed, sadly, "I don't think I've stopped missing you since I got on that plane two years ago. I missed you everyday, but...I'm happy I did. And now look, we're finally on the same level! You're gonna have to run a little faster now, because I'm about to catch up."
Kageyama let out a breathy chuckle, he had gotten better at laughing since their first year. He actually smiled now, too. And not that horrifying murder grin he sported in their first year. No, this new smile, well it did things to Hinata. It was lopsided, but anytime he saw it, Hinata had to focus on his breathing. He was sad he had only seen it over FaceTime lately, but it was still enough to make his heart beat loudly in his chest.
"What if I don't want to run anymore?" Kageyama's voice trickled through the phone.
Hinata froze. What exactly did that imply? He didn't know what it would mean to stop chasing after Kageyama?
"You better not be giving up on me, Bakayama!" Hinata decided to go for the safe choice. Afraid, he was misinterpreting. Scared to put himself out there, to get his hopes up, even though he knew what Kageyma was implying.
Kageyama groaned. Hinata could practically see the eye roll through the phone.
"No dumbass! Why are you making me say this out loud? God I- I want us to stand together on the same stage. Forever. I want us to play together, but I want us to be together too. You already know this, why are you being deliberately dumb?"
This is true. Hinata knew what Kageyama wanted, because they wanted the same thing. The summer before their third year, they both figured it out. It was nothing a profound as a confession, but they both knew that they had found their person. Who else could piss Kageyama off to the point of falling in love, other than Hinata? Who else could push Hinata to be better, to fly higher, to fall harder than Kageyama?
This was both great and kind of disappointing, as Hinata had just broken the news that after this year, he literally be moving half way across the world for two years. Still, the gentle touches and late nights spent practicing or hanging out, meant more to the both of them than they had led on. Even though nothing came of it at the time, knowing was more than enough. The silent and mutual, "I will wait for you," was enough to keep them grounded. Enough to get them through the distance and miles that would soon separate them.
At the time, they had decided to wait. To wait until Hinata got where he was going. Once Hinata had returned and established himself, they would make their way back to each other, of that they were sure.
Hinata sucked in a shaky breath, "I do know that." He whispered, feeling shy. "But we will see each other soon. Twenty-eight days. Countdown starts now, right?"
Kageyama sighed again, but it didn't sound as pained this time. "Yeah, countdown starts now. I'll see you then, Shouyou."
Hinata smiled gently, "See you."
The line goes dead and Hinata is left to stare at his kitchen sink, praying that the days fly by. He can't believe he has butterflies, no- angry wasps attacking the contents of his stomach, because of this dork he's known since middle school.
He clenches his fist, resolved. First thing on the agenda, beat the socks off of the Adlers. Second, kiss the hell out of Kageyama Tobio.
Plans sorted, Shouyou decides to head to bed. Hes gonna get up extra early to train tomorrow, and then in twenty-eight days, he's taking Tobio down, in more than just volleyball.
****
When his team enters through the double doors, he's greeted with roaring crowd and the golden volleyball court. He had been so excited for this part. The entrance, where you get to show off, to strut, to let the crowd go wild. He swears he had never been so pumped before.
The team had argued about what their walk out song for Shouyou's debut should be. Bokuto was convinced that "Jump" by Kriss Kross was the only way to go.
"It fits so well! Hinata is all about the jumps! He's got mad hops!" Bokuto had argued, when Atsumu said he thought "Lose Yourself" by Eminem was more dramatic.
Hinata hadn't really gotten a word in, as the pair was constantly going back and forth, when Kiyoomi inserted himself into the conversation, after seeing the two showed no signs of stopping.
"Its Hinata's debut, why don't you let him decide what he wants our walk out song to be? The rest of us got to choose when we started."
Both stopped bickering and turned to Kiyoomi, who shrugged. "What song do you want, Shouyou?"
Shouyou grinned, he had the perfect song.
Looking back now Shouyou did not regret his decision. If we was being honest, he had never felt more cool in his life. When the song started up, his team began a slow jog onto the court, making their way around the court like they had practiced the day before.
If this is what is was like to be on a professional team, Hinata could definitely get used to it. Shouyou felt his grin get bigger as the Chorus of the song started and Oliver began passing volleyballs out to warm up with.
Shouou knew it was kind of a cringy pick, maybe a little overdone. But once he heard it on a radio station in Brazil, he knew that this was the song he would choose once the opportunity struck.
The opportunity was now. Over the speakers, Post Malone was singing, "Congratulations." Shouyou related a little too much, once he heard it. In the past, he was always doubted, either because of his height, or his lack of skills, or people believing volleyball would only be a hobby for him. Most people assumed thay this was not a viable career. But he was done being underestimated. He finally made it, and no one could doubt him now.
"I dreamed it all ever since I was young.
They said I wouldn't be nothing, now they always say congratulations." The music continued to play in the background, until it slowly faded out.
His team hustled to the beches and began to huddle and make room for the Adlers to make their grand entrance as well. Hinata wondered what their song would be, as Kageyama acted uninterested and then refused to tell him when Hinata pestered him about it.
The lights dimmed again, like they had done when Hinata's team had entered the court, and the crowd once again went wild. Hinata's heartbeat went wild as well, but he was choosing not to focus on that.
The Adlers stormed the court with their captain in the lead. It took Hinata a minute to recognize what song they chose, realizing it was "DNA" by BTS.
It was a good choice, all things considered. He knew immediately it was not Kageyama's choice, and was most likely chosen by Hoshiumi, as Hinata saw him multiple times posting about "BTS Stan Twitter." Hinata thought it was a solid choice. The Adlers looked really cool while warming up to it. However, there was one Adler in particular, that Hinata couldn't take his eyes off of.
Hinata knew as soon as he saw him, this was going to be a very difficult game. Because, holy hell, had Kageyama gotten even taller? "Not fair!" Hinata thought angrily. But Jesus, did Kageyama...fill out. Not only was he taller, but every part of him was extra...beefy? Buff? Sculpted by the Gods in an effort to torture Hinata?
Hinata could see the muscles in Kageyama's arms flex as he practiced setting the ball. Each movement highlighting just how muscular the setter now was. Hinata's eyes slowly made their way down and he felt all the blood rush to his face when he saw that Kageyama's thighs were nothing to scoff at either.
Every part of Kageyama was...enticing and distracting. As much as Hinata never wanted to leave the court or for this match to be over, Kageyama's...physique made a very compelling argument to get this over with as quickly as possible.
Hinata finally tore his eyes away from Kageyams legs and uh- other parts, only to realize Kageyama had caught him staring. Those bright blue eyes landed on his and he knew he had been caught. For what it's worth Kageyama didn't look much better for about 3 second. Moth agape, staring just as hard as Shouyou had been. To be fair, Hianta was leagues above where he had been when he left. One of the most noticeable things being his Bronzed tan, from playing countless rounds of volleyball on the beach in the Brazilian sunshine. The other being, he had more muscle now than he had ever had before. He had filled out too, and by the looks of it Kageyama had noticed. Good.
But then slowly, Kageyamas mouth closed, and his shocked expression morphed into a smirk. He was looking at Hinata like he wanted to devour him. Maybe he did, and Hinata certainly wouldn't object. Hinata just hoped it was in the same way he wanted devour Kageyama. Which was to say, in every possible way.
Kageyama, with blue eyes still trained on Hinata, mounthed something from across the court. Hinata picked up on it immediately and he felt the excitement in him grow.
"You better be ready."
Shouyou, staring right back, mouthed,
"Bring it on!"
****
"And with that last beautiful spike, Ninja Shouyou has won this game for the MSBY Black Jackals! Hinata Shouyou's training has paid off and we can't see what he's going to do next!" The announcers voice boomed over the roar of the crowd.
Hinata knew it must be defeaning in the stadium, he could literally feel the vibrations from the crowd. Almost everyone in the stands was on their feet, cheering and jumping. Even with the deafening noise, Hinata couldn't hear anything besides his heartbeat. His pulse was going wild. His first game had come to and end and he had scored the winning point. That last spike had felt good in his hand, had felt solid and heavy, and he pushed it with everything he had. He saw the ball smash through Kageyama and Ushijima's block, before hitting the ground with a slam. It was over. He was shaking, the adrenaline coursing through him. They won!
He won!
He felt bodies begin to slam into his, excited hands grasping his shoulders, shaking him. His teammates all eager to hug their newest member. At one point, he's pretty sure Bokuto picked him up and spun him around, kissing his forehead in the process, but he couldn't think straight enough to be sure. Too frozen in the moment to realize what was going on, from one moment to the next. Hinata looked around at his teammates, at the crowd, trying his best to soak it all in. To soak in how good this felt. It was unreal.
It wasn't until he saw a head of dark hair slip underneath the net that he began to come back to down to earth, (or at least back into orbit). Kageyama was making his way towards him. One shining black volleyball shoe after another, bringing him closer to Hinata, wobbly smile plastered on his face.
Hinata gasped, and its like time had finally unfrozen. The fog had lifted, the euphoria no longer paralyzing him. Bearings gathered, he ran, full sprint at Kageyama. The setter must of known what was about to happen, because he opened his arms wide and braced for impact. Hinata launched himself forward and as expected, Tobio was there to catch him.
Hinata wrapped his arms around Tobios neck, legs coming up to cross around tobios back as well. Kageyama wrapped both arm around Shouyous waist, to help support him.
Hinata breathed in deep. After two years of working hard, feeling displaced, and homesick, he was finally right back where he wanted to be. He breahed in deep, and he could smell Tobio all around him. He smelled like sweat, which should have been gross, but oddly wasn't. But he also smelled like the same Old Spice deodorant Kageyama had been using since second year. He smelled like everything Hinata had been missing.
"Oh my god!" Hinata wheezed into the side of Kageyama's neck.
He did not think those were going to be the first words he said to Kageyama in person, but here they were. He thought he would say something grand or inspiring, like "You made me invincible." Hinata had, embarrassingly, imagined this moment in his mind so many times.
In the end, "Oh my god." Must have been a safe choice, because Kageyama squeezed Hinata harder. Hard enough for Shouyou to realize Kageyama was shaking.
Kageyama buried his face into Hinata's hair and Hinata knew the setter was doing the same thing that he was. Taking it all in. Breathing it all in.
Kageyama gasped out a quiet, "Yeah."
Hinata knew it was stupid, but he was sure Kageyama was feeling all the things he was. He was always the best at reading Kageyama and he didn't think this time was different. No words could describe how this felt. How they felt about each other. But holding on tight was enough.
That didn't stop the tiny beast in Hinata from craving validation, from wanting Kageyama to acknowledge his victory.
"I won." Hinata whispered, lips brushing against the side of Tobio's throat.
Hianta felt more than heard Tobio shudder, then a quiet, "Yeah," escaped the setters mouth, once again. Like he didn't quite have the words to express anything more yet.
Hinata leaned back to look at Kageyama's face and was happy to see that Kageyama was already looking back, sporting a smile. Large and shaky, and the most beautiful thing in the world.
"You won." Kageyama said, looking at Shouyou. "You were amazing."
Hinata's bottom lip wobbled, suddenly overcome with a lot of emotions. He wasn't sure if was Kageyama or winning, probably all of it, but it all suddenly felt like too much. He didn't wanna cry on national TV, but honestly, who could blame him at this point. He also wasn't sure if he could hold it in, pride be damned.
"We're finally even." Hinata choked out, "We're on the same stage now."
And maybe this hug had went on too long and Kageyama was literally just holding Hinata at this point, but neither cared. Their PR team might care, but that was a problem they could deal with later...probably.
Kageyama continued to smile, which honestly had to be some kind of record for him at this point. His blue eyes shiny and gleaming. The same look that was reserved for great spikes and better tosses, was aimed straight at Hinata, like he was the only game worth playing.
Kageyama leaned down, mouth ghosting over Hinatas ear, "We're gonna go even further."

After the interviews and handshakes, signing a lot of autographs, and finally showering and changing, they were released to go home, or in this case, go out to eat. As the Adlers, Jackals, and alumni of the Karasuno Volleyball Club decided to go out and celebrate.
Shouyou knew his old teammates were somewhere in the crowd, but he was too focused to notice them until the game was over. He made his way to the exit of the stadium doors, where he knew his high school team was waiting. The Adlers and Jackals going ahead, giving he and Kageyama time to reunite with their old team, and promising to meet up at the restaurant soon.
Hinata and Kageyama must have finished changing at the same time, as Tobio had just walked through the exit doors where their friends were waiting, not noticing Hinata coming from the opposite side of the building. Hinata jogged, to catch up, barreling through the doors behind his favorite setter.
In front of the building stood his group of friends. Those who could make it anyway. Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, Suga, Daichi, Tanaka, and Kiyoko all watched as Hinata flung himself out the doors, eager to catch up to Kageyama, who was in the middle of saying his hello's.
To no one's suprise, Suga was the first one to wrap his arms around Hinata as soon as he saw him.
"Look at you!" He said, Karate chopping Hinata in the side, before rounding on Kageyama to provide the same treatment.
"You guys were so cool! Hinata, that last spike, I mean wow! To think I was the one who first taught you about receiving and now you're on the fricking national team!"
He rounded on Kageyama, again, "Kageyama, what was that dump? So fast! It took me a full minute to even process what you did! I also saw that you still sign your autograph the same way I showed you, so I want another one! I kept the original bu-." Suga was cut off, by Daichi wrapping an arm around his shoulders.
"I think what Suga is trying to say, is that we are all so proud of you. You guys were great." Daichi's cool tone had the same affect on Kageyama and Hinata now, as it did in high school.
Kageyama swallowed hard, pressing back against the emotions welling up in his throat. These guys had also come to his debut game, too, when he first entered the league, but he never grew tired of knowing that he had real, honest, caring friends.
Daichi smiled kindly at him and Suga beamed, nodding in agreement, along with the rest of their old friends.
Hinata however, was not so composed. "Damn it!" He cried, flinging himself at the couple standing before him.
He hugged Suga and Daichi with all his might. "How many times am I gonna cry today?" He wailed, squeezing them both hard, before finally stepping back.
There were obvious tears in his eyes and in his cheeks, and his face had turned red. He looked at his former teammates and was immensely thankful for all of them for always cheering him on and believing in him.
"I really love you guys." He said, roughly wiping his tears away.
"This is probably long overdue, but-," Hinata stood in front of them and bowed deeply, "Thank you all for helping me get to this point. Karasuno was truly a blessing, and having you all as my teammates and friends is something I am grateful for! I know this journey would have been much harder without your help and guidance. So...thank you!"
Hinata stayed bowed for a moment longer, hoping to get the message across and compose himself in the process. When he looked up, he was shocked to see most of them looking teary eyed or with wobbling lips.
To his suprise, it was Tskukishima who spoke up. "We're your friends, idiot. You and the King don't have to get so gushy over it. We're always gonna root for you. Even if you are the two most annoying people on the planet."
There was a short silence, where everyone took in Tsuki's unusual kindness, a true rarity. Hinata breathed in deep and beamed at Tsuki, looking over to see that Kageyama also looked pleased, eyes shiny, grin barely contained.
"So can we please go eat before my appetite is ruined by all these...emotions?" Tsukishima requested.
"We always knew you had a heart, you big blonde bean pole!" Tanaka exclaimed, trying to drag Tsuki down to give him a noogie.
Hinata smiled widely, locking eyes with Kageyama as he did so.
He missed this.
****
All of them had met the designated restaurant, and after many hours talking and eating, it was already late into the evening. Most of their friends had either called it a night by now, or were on their way to complete inebriation. Shouyou and Kageyama, however, hadn't drank much, but were absolutely glued to each others sides. They were sitting hip to hip, arms brushing, ankles tangled under the table. This had been such a fun night. Kageyama and he had squabbled back and forth about a rematch, Kageyama promising exact revenge during their next game. Both teams, even though they were rivals, had a lot of intertwined connections, and celebrated freely. Playful banter and jokes being thrown around carelessly. It was nice. It was so nice.
Hinata had missed this. He looked up at Kageyama, who was discussing something with Ushijima and knew he was blantly staring. He felt mesmerized by Kageyama's adam's apple, watching as it bobbed up and down as he spoke. He knew their teammates must know as he was making his feelings blatantly obvious. But he couldn't help it. Two years and a lot of pining later, he was finally sitting next to the current object of his desires. Kageyama was, to put in plainly, so pretty. Painfully so.
His hair had been cut recently, now cropped shorter at the back, but growing out on the top. He assumed Miwa was responsible. Hinata either needed to send her a fruit basket or a death threat, because she had no right, to make Kageyama look that hot.
He wasn't kidding about Kageyama filling out either. His arms and legs were big, but his face was beginning to lose that boyish charm. His jawline sharp and defined, and now armed with that smile, it was enough to take anyone out. Hinata also wasn't sure if eyes could get more blue, like scientifically, but he was pretty sure Kageyama's had. Were they really the same color when he left two years ago?
Hinata noticed, once again, too late that he had been caught sgaring. Kageyama had his eyes trained on Hinata. They said nothing, but it's like a whole conversation was had. Almost like one of those moments they would share on the court. Obviously, he read him loud and clear, as he addressed the remaining friends left.
"Hinata and I are gonna head out, we hope you guys have a good rest of your night. Be sure to get home safe." Kageyama said, standing up and pulling out a wad of bills and laying them on the table.
Hinata went to do the same, reaching for his wallet, but Kageyama stopped him. "I got it. Let's go."
Hinata would have argued, but he was entirely too transfixed on Kageyama. Too caught up in whatever this was to do anything other than gape at the setter. Kageyama grabbed his hand, using his free one to wave at their remaining friends, who grumbled playfully. No one protested too much though, for what Hinata assumed were obvious reasons.
They had already talked about this the week before, Kageyama's place was closer, so they had decided that Hinata would stay the night with him, as both were off tomorrow with no practices scheduled.
Leaving the restaurant, they were met with the chilly wind, the October air nipping at any exposed skin. Noticing how chilly it was, brought Hinata's attention back to his hand, still holding Tobio's. Kageyama had never dropped his hand, and now their fingers were interlaced.
Hinata grinned down at their linked arms, and squeezed Kageyama's hand three times. Both knew what it meant. Kageyama looked up from where he had been focusing on his shoes as they walked. He smiled gently at Hinata, squeezing back three times. It wasn't much, but for now, it was enough.
They continued their trek for another 10 minutes, Kageyama letting him know that his apartment was just around the corner. Hinata looked up at the sky, but this wasn't like Miyagi, the light pollution blocking out any chance the stars had of shining through. He felt Kageyama's shoulder brush his intentionally, and he looked back at the setter. Their walking paused.
Kageyama was already staring at him, and Hinata could feel the tension, it was like the air had grown heavier, and suddenly Hinata was tired of waiting. He had been in love since his second year, and they had both been holding back for so long. Why were they holding back now? The streetlights cast shadows onto Kageyama's face and Hinata had made up his mind. With his free hand, he reached up to cradle the back of Kageyama's neck, encouraging him to lean down. Hinata stood on his tip toes, as Kageyama complied, bending down to close the gap that they had lasted far too long. Finally, finally their lips met.
Hinata knew it wouldn't be like the movies, no fireworks or loud music. But it was unbelievable. Kageyama's lips were soft and gentle, and he pressed into Hinata like he was drowning, like Hinata was the last breath of air. Hinata freed his hand where it was still tangled with Kageyama's to bring it up to the side of Tobio's face. To deepen the kiss, to savor it, to stay like this forever. Kageyama's free hand settled in the middle of his back, urging Shouyou closer. They were completely pressed up against each other, barely any room between them. Hinata isn't sure how long they stayed tangled together, but he wanted more. He would always want more. They were running out of air and Kageyama broke the kiss, long enough to take a breath and dive right back in. This time, pressing small little kisses to Hinata's lips. Hinata could pass away right now, and have little regret. He was so in love with this boy.
Fianlly, they actually broke a part, only to rest their foreheads together, staring into each others eyes.
Hinata smiled, almost bashful. "Sorry," He whispered, "but, I got tired of waiting."
Kageyama's little smirk appeared, leaning in to kiss Hinata again. When they parted again, he simply said, "Thank god." He grabbed Hinata's hand again, tugging at him until they are both running down the empty sidewalk towards Kageyama's apartment, laugher echoing around them.
****
When they got back to Kageyama's apartment, there was no time to mince words. They threw down their bags, barely chucking off their shoes, when Hinata's back was shoved up against the closed apartment door.
Kageyama was on him instantly, kissing him roughly, nothing like the sidewalk kiss they had shared moments ago. They were still out of breath from running, gasping into each others mouths. It was clumsy, and messy, and the hottest thing Hinata had ever experienced. The feeling of Kageyama pressed up against him, pressed up against everything, was sending his mind to places he rarely let himself go to. Thinking about Kageyama like that was amazing, but not from ten thousand miles away. That was just torture.
But now, now that he was here and Kageyama certainly wasn't going anywhere, Hinata allowed himself to let go and enjoy it. Because, God, was Kageyama the hottest person.
Kageyama broke their kiss, a string of saliva coming with it, and trailed down to Hinata's neck. He was sucking and kissing, nipping at all of the exposed skin, and Jesus Christ was Hinata losing his composure.
Hianta ran his hands through Kageyama's hair, tugging on the stands and gasping at the little grunts Kageyama was letting out.
"God, Shouyou." Kageyama murmured against his neck.
Hinata gasped at his voice, tilting his neck to give as much access to it as Kageyama wanted. Hinata would give Kageyama anything he wanted at this point.
"Shouyou, I wish you could have seen yourself." Kageyama mumbled in-between kisses. "You were so good. You were incredible. I couldn't take my eyes off of you."
Hinata really gasped then, it's possible that Kageyama could read Hinata better than he liked to admit, because everything Kageyama was saying was sending blood straight to his dick.
"I-" Hinata's breath shuddered when Kageyama pressed their hips together, sending waves of electricity through Hinata.
"I was incredible?" He pleads. Hoping Kageyama says more, needing Kageyama to say more.
"Yeah, dumbass. Everything about you is amazing. Your spikes, your jumps, your-," Kageyama pauses to lift Hinata up, wanting Shouyou's legs wrapped around him, "thighs. God, your thighs are something else."
Shouyou squeezes his thighs as tight as he can, anchoring himself to Kageyama.
"Tobio, the bedroom, please!" He begs, "I need it, need you." Hinata is gasping, kissing whatever part of Tobio he can reach. He needs this man, needs his best friend, his partner. Now.
Hinata has never thanked the stars more that Kageyama is ripped, because the way he absolutely manhandles Shouyou, switches him into over drive.
Tobio carries Hinata, still attached at the waist, to his bedroom. Kissing and grinding all the way there. Hinata is making pathetic, embarrassing noises, but he truly cannot stop. He's never needed anything as bad in his whole life.
They finally make their way to Tobio's bedroom. Somehow, Tobio gets the door open, even though he has a Hinata sized leech attacking him. They make their way into the room, and Kageyam kicks the door shut.
Hinata whines, "Why is everything you do so hot?" He pretty much speaks into Kageyama's mouth.
Kageyama must chuckle, as the kiss is broken. He utilizes this opportunity to untangle Shouyou from him, and throws him on the bed.
Shouyou hits the comforter, with a small thud, sprawled out. The gym shorts he decided to wear after the game, sliding dangerously up his thighs. So much of his skin was exposed. Kageyama could see where the shorts he wore to the beach to train in must have stopped, because the tan line was stark.
The white of his upper thigh, contrasting with the tan on his lower legs. Kageyama's mouth went dry. He knew Hinata was undeniably attractive before he left, but now it was like Hinata's hotness was on steroids.
Hinata, impatient with just letting Kageyama stare, sat up on his forearms. "Tobio," he choked out, "please."
As history has shown, Tobio was bad about denying Hinata anything. So why start now.
Tobio sank down onto the bed, placing one leg on each side of Shouyou. Straddling him and caging him in. "What do you want to do?"
Hinata took a shaky breath in. As much as he wanted Tobio to be inside him right now, it wasn't the best time. They didn't have practice tomorrow, but Shouyou had another game lined up the day after. He didn't want to risk hurting himself or jeopardizing their chances of winning, so early on.
"Maybe not that. Not right now, but other stuff?" He said meekly, "Other stuff is good?"
Kageyama smiled down at him, leaning into to kiss him again, this time gentle. Understanding. "Other stuff it is."
With that, Kageyama hopped off of Shouyou and slid to the floor, landing on his knees. Before Shouyou could ask why, Kageyama grabbed him by the waist and pulled him to the edge of the bed. Hinata's ass was at the very edge, and his legs were spread, to accommodate Tobio who was sitting in between them.
Kageyama looked up and met his eyes again, "This okay?"
Hinata could no longer function, Tobio's hungry eyes staring into his, his face so close to his already, very obviously hard dick. All he could do was nod his head yes. Tobio could do anything.
With the nod of affirmation given, Tobio tugged on the hem of Hinata's shorts, asking for permission. Hinata raised his hips and in one swift movement, both his shorts and boxers were gone.
Hinata wanted to feel embarrassed or mortified, but the way Tobio was looking at him, stopped any of those thoughts. Tobio was acting like Hinata was God's gift to man. Running his hands up and down the inside of his thighs, you would think that Hinata held the secrets of the world. There was so much adoration in Tobio's expression. Hinata didn't need reassurance. That look was enough.
Tobio slowly ran his hands down Hinata's thighs. Feeling that soft skin over the tightened muscle. He wanted to leave bruises and marks on these thighs. Let the world know that this sunshine reincarnate was off the market and spoken for. He leaned down to press soft kisses against Shoyou's thighs. Deciding to just leave one mark. It would be enough for both of them to know. To remember.
He chose a place high up on his thigh. Not to far away from Hinata's cock, which was now totally hard. He began sucking, licking over the forming bruise, kissing it lightly.
He was pleases to hear that Shouyou was already whining, moaning, babbling any words that came to mind. Kageyama gave one last gentle nip to the hickey on Shouyou's thigh before moving on to what he had really been waiting for.
He looked at Shouyou one more time, before wrapping his hand around Shouyou's cock and stroking it twice.
Hinata practically bolted up, not expecting the feeling to be quite so much.
"Holy fuck, Tobio!" He cried out, the motion leaving him in a daze.
Kageyama smiled, and decided he was done with teasing and with waiting. With no warning, he sat up and took Shouyou in his mouth, stopping at the hilt.
Shouyou lost it, the feeling of Kageyama's mouth was amazing. He let out a loud moan and couldn't stop the natural reaction to buck his hips.
As soon as he did he was apologizing, not wanting to mess this up or hurt Tobio.
Tobio shook his head and came up for air, breaking the seal around Hinata's dick with a loud popping noise.
"If you want, you can fuck my mouth." Kageyama said, earnestly. "I really don't mind."
Hinata gaped at him. Kageyama was really okay with just saying that out loud? Like he was requesting Hinata jump a little to left for his next spike.
"Are you sure?" Hinata asked, nervous energy radiating off of him.
Kageyama kissed his thigh again, before laying a reassuring hand on his knee. "I've thought about this moment for like the last four years, please. I am so okay with this."
Hinata blushed brightly but nodded. He watched as Kageyama slowly sank down on his dick again, inch by inch. How was it hotter this time. God, he could not handle Kageyama Tobio and his level of sex appeal.
Tobio once again, sank all the way down and this time began to actually move. He was doing his best to encourage Shouyou to move, to fuck his mouth. God, he wanted Shouyou to use him.
He squeezed Shouyou's thighs trying to persuade him to move. He saw Shouyou swallow heavily, but then he brought his hands down to Tobio's head and dug his fingers into his hair, and began to gently thrust his hips, making his dick hit the back of Tobio's throat. Tobio gave a hum of approval and the minor encouragement seemed to spur Shouyou's movements on. He began to actually thrust into Tobio's mouth. Tobio should have known with the kind of person Shouyou was, he would be loud while doing this.
Shouyou knew he was being loud, maybe obnoxious, but he really didn't care. The feeling of Tobio's mouth around his dick was too much. He had never felt this way before. He knew he was going to cum like this if they didn't stop. He knew that they couldn't go all the way tonight, but he did have an idea.
"T-tobio? Can we stop? I have something I want to try." Shouyou gasped out, afraid he would get too close to the edge and not be able to pull it off.
Kageyama pulled off, with a loud pop and raised his eyebrows. "Are you alright?" He asked, concerned.
Hinata stuttered out a breathy, "Yeah I'm good, but I want to try something, if you're up to it?"
Tobio shrugged, "What do you want to do?"
"Do you have lube?"
Tobio raised his eyebrows again, but didn't say anything. He leaned over from his position on the floor, and dug around under his bed for a moment, before handing Shouyou a small clear tube.
Hinata smiled, and patted the bed next to him. Kageyama was still fully clothed, and Hinata was starting to think it was a bit unfair.
He reached over and grabbed the hem of Kageyama's shorts, pulling a similar move to Kageyamas and removing both the shorts and boxers at once. He also went thr extra step and made Kageyama discard his Tshirt as well, even though Hinata still had his on.
Tobio was now fully naked on the bed, and Hinata felt it was overdue that he had his turn. He was happy to see that Tobio was just as hard as he was. Hinata pushed Tobio back into the pillows and straddled his waist. He was aware that this meant Tobio's dick was pressed flesh with his ass, but honestly that was kind of the point.
He placed his hands on Tobios pecs, fingers gently trailing over his nipples. Tobio's breath hitched ever so slightly, but one look at his face and Hinata knew it was okay to keep going. He then traced his fingers along the lines of his abs, tracing the six pack and wondering how he got so lucky. His lips followed his hands, kissing all along his abdomen, until he was scooting back and they were lowering to Tobio's dick. He wrapped his hand around the hardened cock loosely and stroked it gently. Just like with his abs, Hinata leaned down and kissed the head gently.
Tobio's head hit the pillow and he let out a soft grunt.
"I know we can't go all the way." he heard Shouyou say. He picked his head up to meet his eyes, and show he was listening.
"Not right now, anyway, but would you want to fuck my thighs? Next best thing, maybe?" Shouyou asked shyly, picking up the lube as if to show his train of thought.
Any coherent thought that Kageyama might have had, flew out of the window. This boy was going to be the death of him.
Tobio groaned and sat up, "Fuck, Shou. God, yes!"
Tobio once again quickly turned the tables. He made Shouyou turn around and face the pillows, he situated him with his ass in the air. Tobio took a moment to just look at this extremely sexy boy in front of him. He needed to find a shrine later and thank whatever God brought Shouyou to him.
"You're sure right?" Tobio asked.
Shouyou groaned, "Fuck yes, Tobio! Please, I need you!"
With that Tobio took the bottle of lube, and squeezed a decent amount on to his fingers. He placed his hand on the inside of Shouyou's thighs and spread the lube over the soft skin. He then took the remaining lube and pumped himself with it. He scooted closer behind Shouyou, and circled his hands around Shouyou's waist.
His dick slipped between Shouyou's thighs and they both let out loud moans.
"Fuck." Tobio growled in Shouyou's ear.
All he heard in reply was a soft whimper.
He began with small thrusts, testing out the waters. Shouyou's thighs were warm and soft, and his dick felt amazing squeezed between them. Shouyou was even clenching his thighs with every thrust driving Tobio mad.
Throwing caution to the wind, Tobio decided he was going to fuck this boy hard. With a bruising thrust, he pounded into Shouyou. Thrust after thrust, the two of them began to lose their composure.
Shouyou was a whining mess. Somewhere along the way, Tobio had grabbed Shouyou's dick and was pumping it in time with his thrusts.
Shouyou was crying out, loudly, lewd and uncaring, Tobio knew every wet dream he ever had from this point on would consist of those noises. Tobio knew he swore a lot, but it was like this opened a whole new realm of swear words. The only thing he could get out were mutters of "Fuck, Shou, and Shit."
Suddenly, with one hard thrust between those creamy thighs, pumping Shoyou as fast as he could, Shouyou tensed up, and with a loud cry of, "Ohmyfuckinggod, Tobio!" He came, white warmth splattered the pillow, Tobio's hand, and parts of Shouyou's chest.
Shouyou tensing was all that was needed to send Tobio over the edge, he gripped Shouyou's thigh so tight he was sure it would bruise, and with one last vulgar, "Fuck!" Tobio painted the inside of Shouyou's thighs too.
Both sat there for a moment, panting, taking it in, before promptly collapsing side by side, next to each other.
They were both sweaty and panting. Shouyou, was currently covered in both of their cum. They probably needed to shower.
They lay in silence for a while, both of the lost in thought and lazy. Basking in the after glow and in happiness. The silence was nice, comfortable. It kind of felt like coming home.
After a while, Tobio's hand reached out, searching, until he found Shouyou's fingers. He interlaced their hands, before flipping Shouyou's over and bringing it up to his lips, to kiss gently.
Shouyou turned to look at Tobio, his golden eyes piercing. He smiled, cheeks red. "Thank you."
Tobio was dense, but he was smart enough to know Shouyou wasn't just thanking him for the sex, but for literally everything that had transpired from first year until now.
Tobio smiled down at him. "You know, I dont think I ever told you this. Kazuyo-san told me that if I got really good, somebody who was even better would find me."
Shouyou stayed silent. It wasn't often that Tobio talked about his grandpa, or that dark time in his life after he passed. More often then not, Shouyou would shut up and listen. He tried not to pry too much.
Tobio looked up the ceiling, doing his best to get through the story he had thought about telling Shouyou hundreds of times by now.
"Back then, I thought he was just trying to calm me or give me weird advice. I didn't really buy into it. I know now, that he was right. I got really good...and you got even better." Tobio squeezed Shouyou's hand. "You found me, and I- I don't think I'll ever be able to repay you for what you've given me, Shouyou."
Shouyou's breath hitched and the only thing he could think to do was throw himself at Tobio, crushing him in the tightest hug manageable.
He buried his face into Tobio's shoulder and exhaled shakily.
"You don't have to repay me, Tobio. You don't owe me anything. I love you. I love you so much. You've given me more than I ever thought imaginable. Just having you here, in this way, in all the ways I have you...is enough. More than enough."
Shoyou moved to sit up, trying to meet Tobio's eyes and show him, tell him, that he is the best thing in his life. Tobio thinks he was waiting on Shouyou to be found, but without Tobio Shoyou would be the one who was lost.
The words die on Shouyou's lips when he see a strange look on Tobio's face.
Tobio sucked in a sharp breath, before pausing, "You're my best friend, Shouyou."
Shouyou knows most people would think it would be obvious that they were much more than that, but Shouyou knew what Tobio meant. Felt it deep within, something soft and warm solidifying inside of him.
They were best friends, partners through life, and they felt like soul mates.
Shouyou leaned down to capture Tobio's lips again. Letting him know he understood. Showing him that he felt the same.
They knew what it was. They were in love.
