“You’re going to be okay Cap. Who am I kidding? Of course you’re going to be okay, you’re our Captain!” Tony could hear Sam say through the curtain. He was laying it on a bit thick for comforting a guy who only had a broken arm and the super-soldier serum. His attention is brought back to the bed when his hand is squeezed weakly. He smiled at the boy laying on the bed and squeezed his hand back. The boy’s eyelids fluttered, and he let out a small whine. Tony started rubbing circles into his hand, whispering “You’re doing such a good job Peter. You’re doing great. Just a little bit more buddy. Do you want me to turn the lights down?” Another whine came out and Tony took that as a yes. Unfortunately, he hadn’t been quiet enough.
Clint scoffed. Of course Stark would be fucking someone in the next room over.” Natasha spoke against him. “I don’t think he’s fucking anyone, he asked if the other guy wanted to lights to be turned down. Who does that in a medbay while fucking?” Natasha peered curiously around the curtain and gasped as Tony threw his body over the bed in a desperate attempt to cover Peter’s. Peter let out a confused noise. “D-Dad?” He croaked. Tony leaned over Peter and shed a tear. “Hey Pete. It’s so good to have you back. The Compound’s been so quiet without you.” He pressed a kiss against the boy’s temple. “Stark? What the hell is this about?” Steve asked, having stood up and pulled back the curtain. Tony fiddled with the breathing tube in Peter’s nose, starting to pull it out. “Nothing that’s any of your business.” He snapped. “You’re experimenting on kids now? God that’s low, even for you Stark.” Scott sneered. “He’s not-” Peter coughed. “He’s not experimenting on me. I did this all to myself when I agreed to go on that fucking field trip and wandered off into Oscorp’s spider room. This is just a side-effect that he’s helping me through.”
“Then what’s he pumping into your veins?” Wanda challenged. “Nutrients because I fall into a coma-like state every winter. While my metabolism does decrease, it’s still pretty enhanced. I went through my first hibernation without him and I almost died.” Peter shook and Tony ran his hand through Peter’s curls. “It’s okay Bambino, everything’s okay.” Peter leaned into the touch and hugged him. “I think you’re forgetting something.” Tony said, addressing the Avengers once more.
“Oh? And what’s that?”
“The agreement was that I could kick you out of my tower any time I want as long as I give a notice a month in advance. This is your notice. You better start seeing who would be willing to hire old news that no one likes anymore.” Tony gave them a sharp smile. Natasha froze and Sam looked terrified, while the others just didn’t look impressed. Tony detached the IV from Peter and picked him up. Whether they thought he was kidding or not didn’t matter to him. They would find out in a month. In the meantime, he had a kid to help relearn how to use his muscles.
