Work Header

begrudgingly ill

Summary:

“Bakugou, you have got to go back to your dorm: you are sick.” Aizawa deadpans as Bakugou walks into the classroom, obviously disheveled. His hair is uncombed, his nose is red like he’s been sneezing uncontrollably, and his UA uniform is—somehow—worse than what it usually is.

“Sen—achoo!—Sensei, I’m not—achoo!—Sick, let me go to my seat.” Bakugou sniffs, sneezing horribly.

Or,

Bakugou is sick, something he says he "never is", watch him make this everybody else's problem.

Notes:

Work Text:

“Bakugou, you have got to go back to your dorm: you are sick.” Aizawa deadpans as Bakugou walks into the classroom, obviously disheveled. His hair is uncombed, his nose is red like he’s been sneezing uncontrollably, and his UA uniform is—somehow—worse than what it usually is.

“Sen— achoo! —Sensei, I’m not— achoo! —Sick, let me go to my seat.”  Bakugou sniffs, sneezing horribly.

Was his seat always so far back ? Bakugou ponders, limping to his desk. My legs are really tired.

“BAKUGOU!” Kirishima yells as Bakugou’s head makes a loud thud on the ground.

His classmates surround him, checking up on him, while Aizawa walks to where he fell. “Carry him back to his dorm, he’s out cold,” Shouta utters to no distinguishable person, muttering under his breath, “ damn problem child never knows when to take a break” .

The students nodded while Kirishima, Deku, Todoroki, and Iida lifted him at the count of 3.

“So, who’s looking after him now?” Mina questions. They’re all in the common room, excused from class to “ divide up Bakugou’s responsibilities whilst he’s sick ”: a faulty excuse to skip, but it worked, so who really cares?.

“Todobro.” Denki says at the same time as Tsuyu says, “Kirishima.”

The class looks at each other, confused.

Finally, Kirishima, Todoroki, and Iida come down from Bakugou’s dorm, entering the common room.

“Where’s Deku?” Uraraka asks through muffled volume, an apple in her mouth as she starts to braid Mina’s hair.

“With Bakugou, he’s looking after him while he’s sick.” Todoroki answered, the three nonchalantly coming in to the common room, sitting down by their friends.

Aoyoma looked up from his phone, staring at Todoroki with confusion. “ Quoi? Deku ? I thought they hated each other, no?”

Todoroki just shrugged, leaving it be.

“Dammnit Deku— achoo! —let me go, I’m— achoo! —not sick!” Bakugou bickered, resisting any attempt of Deku trying to help him get to Recovery Girl.

Deku sighed, why is Kacchan so stubborn? Every time Bakugou was sick, he would adamantly refuse.

Deku remembers a particularly unwavering sick Kacchan in elementary—4th grade, to be exact.

(“ Kacchan, you’re sneezing really loud and you used all the tissues! You need to go to the nurse!”

“Deku, I’m not sick!” Kacchan coughed.

They were in Mrs. Shigeta’s class, or was—they were now outside in the 4th grade hallway.

Since Kacchan was sneezing so loud, Deku was assigned to take him to the nurse. Like always, though, Kacchan was so sure he wasn’t sick.

“Let me just take you to the nurse,” Deku started, already starting on his puppy eyes, “please Kacchan.”

Unfortunately for him, Kacchan was already used to his “cute” expression and stayed still, not letting Deku move him.

After a minute of Deku doing the whole shebang—pouting, puppy eyes, and almost tearing up, Deku gave up. “Fine! If you’re not moving I’m going to call Mrs. Shigeta!”

Kacchan’s eyes widened. However, his body remained stiff.

Deku stomped to the door, coming in to the classroom to tell his teacher that Kacchan wasn’t letting him take him to the nurse.

Mrs. Shigeta walked out of the classroom, massaging her temple; already used to the boys’ attitudes. She lowered her voice, coming down to face Bakugou. “Katsuki, you’re sick, okay? You need to go to the nurse so we can treat you.”

“B-but—achoo!—I’m not sick!” Bakugou sneezed. Mrs. Shigeta raised an eyebrow, challenging the kid.

“Yes you are, don’t you want to miss a day of school, huh?” The teacher bribed in an attempt to grab Bakugou’s arm to take him to the nurse.

Bakugou paused, thinking about it, but when he realized that his teacher was grabbing his arm, he flipped out: screaming and throwing a tantrum.

Finally it took 3 teachers—2 from the upper grade levels—to restrain him, finally taking him to the nurse and checking him out.

He, unsurprisingly, had a high fever—a symptom of his flu.

“Nerd, why’re you standing still?! Are you gonna help me or what?!” Bakugou screamed from across the hallway, dispersing Deku’s memory.

Deku flinched at the sudden noise, starting to walk to Bakugou after a couple seconds. “Sorry Kacchan.”

“Shut’up.” Bakugou dismissed as Deku grabbed onto his arm, helping him walk to Recovery Girl’s office.
