Shouto was waiting with bated breath for when Endeavor would finally snap, and it was exhausting. He needed concrete evidence, a way to know for certain that Endeavor was a changed man – and what better way to do that than to piss him off enough that he became violent? Theoretically, of course, because had Endeavor actually changed, he wouldn’t hit his son over something so trivial as a cigarette.
Alternatively, four times Todoroki Shouto smoked a cigarette because he wanted to anger his father, and one time he did it because he needed the respite.

Scowling Shouto reluctantly stepped back, letting her leg go as he moved to the side. He slumped against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest and definitely not pouting. She stepped in between them, smiling widely as she spoke. “Shouto was just helping me warm up” she explained and Katsuki grunted. His eyes moved past the women stood between them and dragged over Shouto’s body, his red eyes narrowing when he saw that bulge in his jumpsuit.
“Is that what he was doing?” Shouto turned his head away from them, feeling the slight blush forming on his cheeks. Katsuki was teasing him, Shouto could hear it in his voice but it didn’t change the fact that he still felt like a school kid getting caught behind the bike shed by a teacher. Katsuki didn’t like it when he wasn’t included, Shouto had learnt that the hard way.
