This was brilliant! I love how you were able to bring the atmosphere to life with your words. The circular narrative, both beginning and ending with the cigars, was a wonderful touch as well. I felt like it was such a subtle way to show how pervasive Arthur is in Edward’s life, whether it be to his detriment or otherwise. I also really enjoyed the moment where it becomes obvious that he has (or wants) no one to rely on or trust in except for Ellen… it’s just too good. Overall, I’m just glad to see someone writing them together like this. Thank you for posting! I can’t wait to read your other works and whatever you decide to post next :)
(Also, as a fellow history enthusiast, I appreciated the Roosevelt reference.)
Oh my goshhh ;-; I'm so glad you enjoyed the little things I included, you made my day. I've been trying to improve my creative writing skills since I'm pursuing a STEM degree, but I've always had a passion for the arts and history. I'm currently working on a second chapter for this story. I wasn't planning on continuing it but I had so much fun and I have a few ideas for how it can go, especially building on his relationship with Arthur. <3
