That's never been what I've said though, in the story or in the comments. Kal had no knowledge that the law even existed because he's not old enough to remember anything of Krypton. Kara is old enough to remember the law, as well as its impact. It's nothing to do with age of majority, just age of awareness.

But why does that even matter when the point of them both going to Earth was because Krypton was about to explode? They are both refugees with no home planet to return to. Even if they could operate in space they have clearly chosen through years of actions that they are defending the Earth. Kara being old enough to remember a law means nothing when your saying is that everything would have been fine if Kara had stayed and died along with the rest of her kind on Krypton. Do you understand how ridiculous that makes this whole argument for the green lanterns? Logically Kara has no case to answer and this is beyond an abuse of power. So the normal 'punishment' would be to return the Krypton home, but again where do you plan to send Kara for such an awful crime of being the last of her kind? How dare she be sent to protect a defenceless baby. But sure, Kal gets a free pass because 'he wasn't aware of the law' are you kidding me? The plot hole are huge and your logic is weak. I'm really surprised given Lena intellect she failed to counter argue or was the shinny green ring too pretty for her to focus?
Lena doesn't know Kara's backstory: when she does, then of course she'll say more, we just don't reach that scene in the first chapter. The Guardians don't watch the show. All they see is Kryptonians not deciding to leave their world, and Kara slipping away and basically hiding. Sure, if Kryptonians asked permission, they'd likely have been allowed to leave, but they didn't. From their perspective it's someone who was hiding from them, knowing that she was doing so, only objecting when she got caught. But that's a later scene. If you dislike the premise so much, don't read it. If you find the premise interesting but have questions, keep reading rather than expecting every question to be answered in the first chapter. I'm getting tired of responding to comments like this.
