It has to do with the fact that when you first post the story, the closing AN is logged as the AN of the entire story. Meaning that unless you manually go in and remove it from the main story and then attach it to the first chapter, it will always show up at the end of the last chapter posted. Most people aren't aware of that glitch, however. It's very annoying.
Chappa'ai is a Stargate term, yes. It's Abydonian for "Stargate."
Even if you're initially posting as an unfinished work? As in, not a oneshot, I mean. That is a weird glitch.
...Why are they using two words in two different languages that reference the same object? Trying to see if Toph and Zuko recognize the Abydonian word?
(Also, I'm on chapter... three or four, I think, and I swear you're purposefully seducing me with linguistics and pseudo-biochemistry and historical suppositions of culture and ugggggghhhhhhh, I'm so glad I gave this fic a chance even though I don't know Stargate.)
Recognizing the Abydonian word: pretty much, since I headcanon that as the common language used by Goa'uld slave communities. "Stargate" is English, after all, and clearly the kids don't speak English.
