    I've actually never seen the anime and only read the manga up to a little bit past the chuunin exams, for similar reasons to you actually? It was too much of the same and because I felt like I'd signed up for a slow-growth team oriented world building thing and instead it jumped RIGHT into world-ending stuff with everyone seperating. (which is one of the reasons this was so satisfying- the team! together! acting as a unit!)
