The Mera Mera no Mi still exists in this 'verse, yes. Mostly because I've decided that the fruit Riot ate in his original timeline was a Legendary Logia for godfire. Which is why he managed to travel through time. So Riot will find the actual Mera Mera and give it to Ace, at which point he will realize that there are a few differences in their powers and go "... well that explains that." and probably start experimenting in preparation for setting Akainu on fire.

It's entirely possible for Roger to have had an older kid, and in the process of helping Ace with his mental health Riot manages to come to terms with who his birth father is himself. It's great. ♥

Garp spends a few months seething about "grandson stealing pirates" until he actually meets Riot and then he goes "... aw shit there was another one fuck you Roger you should have told me that" and then there is Monkey D family bonding time. Riot walks away with his "new" grandfather's contact info, only a few "Fist of Love" bruises, custody of his 'little brothers', and Garp's crew is freshly traumatized. Makino was mostly relieved that someone had shown up to actually take care of the boys. So while she was sad to see them go she was glad for them. Dadan and the bandits basically went through that flashback scene of Luffy leaving home a decade early. So she's proud of her boys but also still Dadan and thus a crusty old lady who don't need no emotions. XP

    1. OMG I want to see this written out so badly, it's perfect and beautiful and Garp would just so accept Riot as another grandson without pause and I think I need to breathe now. *wheeeze* This universe is so awesome!

I've been thinking about this scene recently and may get around to sketching it out soon. Garp is one of the best plot derailment tools in One Piece and I think more fic authors should take advantage of that. This is a very fun 'verse to play in, so I'm glad that you like it so much. ^_^
