Comment on A Dovahkiin Spreads His Wings

  1. Looking good so far. Cant wait till the next installment. One relationship you might think about is a jon/val pairing. Jon decides to go beyond the wall (cus he is bored or something) and saves her from a white walker. This act effectively "steals" her. Could pose a interesting problem for jon. Something to think about.

    1. I love the idea of Jon accidentally stealing Val. There are too few stories with that pairing which leaves lots of ideas to exploit. She always seemed badass and it would cause a lot of problems but then open up a lot of ways the story could go with what she stands for and the 7 kingdoms. I'd say instead of him being bored it could be a dream that makes him go he has already had one so it would make sense.

      1. Not a bad idea, actually. I’ve always liked Val and though she’d be a good match for Jon in the books, plus she’d fit right in among the various shied-maidens of Skyrim. The one issue is that when Jon returns, he intends to do so only as a visit. He doesn’t want to stay there so if he does fall in love, it can’t be with someone who wants to stay either.

        1. So your story won't include the Others? As it seems Jon is destined with a big role in the end game if Val was to survive then I can't see why she wouldn't want to start a new life somewhere else after having to go through all that. Regardless she has already had to flee from one kingdom to move down to the wall. I always got the sense the Wildlings were happy to move, settle etc they just want their freedom, something Westeros is against with its structure and laws so if the other place is better on that front I think she and possibly other freefolk would want to go.
Can't see any other candidates that would willingly leave Westeros of noble birth other than perhaps Arya.

          1. Please re-read the first chunk and then consider if the Others will play a part.

I had meant that I didn’t think Val would want to leave her people and her family behind. But I never considered moving all the Free Folk from Westeros. It’s an interesting idea, though I’m not how the logistics of it would work. I’ll give it some thought!

I never said the romance options were limited to Westeros characters. But no, just no JonXArya. Not in a million years.

            1. Thanks for the heads up. I thought that was Ned and the family. Whoops.
SPOILERS if you haven't read the books. At current book stage her family, unless the theories are true, is her sister and her nephew and she is seperated from them both. The same as Manse if you count him. Beside you control who lives and dies.
They wouldn't all have to go some would despise the sort of magic that must be involved.
Yeah no I only mentioned her name as she is the type of character that would leave and is also highborn. The usual Daenerys, Margaery and Arianne care too much about their own place in Westeros.
              Can't wait to read more.

            2. Not just logistic but social too. In my mind freefolk is like forsworn not to mention skyrim people reaction to them.

              1. There are definitely some similarities, aside from the whole briarheart thing. I like to think even Tormund would find them crazy though...
