Yeah, you're right -- 'parent' is far too nice of a title for her, haha! :'D She's definitely more of a boss/supervisor (like you said, I think canonically she's his 'handler,' a title which I actually tried to reference in those lines from Hank/Fowler about Connor needing handling)! ;)
However, as I mentioned in one of my earlier comments to someone else, I think Connor's views of his relationships are very technical/limited by technical categories or definitions(?)... so while I do think he would clearly differentiate Amanda and Hank, he also still puts them in a similar category -- still a 'guiding figure' (like you suggested) that he aspires to please and be valued by, yet obviously in different ways and via different tactics. Idk, that's just me anyway, haha. :P And don't feel weird about getting too into meta stuff, lol, because that's all I've been doing to write this fic! :'D And besides, I think hearing other opinions/insight is always fun!! <3
