    Everytime Hiccup and the dragon riders free a hunting boat of dragons they're forcing someone on that ship to go unpaid or even fired, if not without food.
    Like it's their way of life and there are some islands that have zero valuable resources beyond fish and anything they manage to grow. Some islands don't even have that luxury, living on essentially barren infertile rock.
    So, Grimmel's island was probably one of those unfortunate ones and they would use dragons to trade and barter for all their goods.
    Sorry if that was confusing :')
    I always wondered what happened to the people who worked on the hunting ships and the families they have back home.

      Thats right. I did that too. Hiccup never thought what happend with the families when they injured or even killed hunters. Thats is what I bring in my fics up sometimes too.

      I do wonder if Hiccup and his friends will find a way to make it up to those islands, if they can be forgiven by the people who live there and if Hiccup decides to let go of his guilt and turn his rage on Grimmel.
