It was also really interesting trying to figure out how Lafayette would mess up in English. I basically tried to take the common mistakes my classmates and myself make and then invert them? So, like, I tried to use too many subject pronouns as opposed to too few, and I had Laf say "the island of Alex" instead of "Alex's island" because that's how possessives work in French.
(Since I see this, I'll answer this too) Absolutely makes sense! Remember, he might also use the absolute wrong word! Ex: My friend was playing my Russian ex-husband in an improv scene and we were trying to buy the same swordfish. He asked me "Let's give monies to de man for the horny fish, ok Leetle Waife?" (I'm 5'4, he's 5'8ish) He was referring to a swordfish. He used words that would make sense to a non-English speaker, but is hilariously wrong to natives.
