"The point was, I was lost, and I didn’t really fancy stumbling into something embarrassing, like an ancient blood-letting government ritual or the men’s bathroom."
One thing I really want to mention (before I forget again) is that I love reading a Night Vale story with a female protag. I haven't looked for many so far, since I've been swooning over Cecilos for most of my fandom, but it has started to bother me that the most relatable characters in the show are guys. Dana and Maureen are relatable, of course, but we are rarely shown their perspective. (Tamika is a hero archetype, so I'm not sure she is "relatable" per se.) Our window to this world, our guide, our avatar, is Cecil. And I love him, and I love Cecilos, but at the same time I find myself longing for an everyman character who is female. I'm tired of feeling like "generic human" = "male".
That's exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to rectify with this fic! There are so many female characters that can be further explored in the Night Vale universe, but since the focus is Cecil and, by association, Carlos, most of the focus goes to them and while they are really wonderful characters, there are so many others that deserve their own stories. Especially Maureen, since she seems like such a relatable underdog whenever she appears.
