  1. Oh, wow! Someone else who remembers the other E/R! Irrationally, I thought I was the only one -- not even most of the nostalgia sites seem to remember that one. (Did you also watch the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon on CBS on Saturday mornings?)

Hope you enjoy the rest of this!

    1. Nope, didn't watch Dungeons, but I loved The Muppet Show, in any of its incarnations.

And I also loved this story!

      1. Muppet Babies! That and D&D are my all-time favorite Saturday morning cartoons. The thing I loved about Muppet Babies was that it kept a lot of the intelligence and wit of The Muppet Show, even if it was simplified for a littler-kid audience.

        1. Did you also love "Emergency!", which aired back in the 70s? I loved that show when I was a young girl.

          1. I never saw that, unfortunately. Just a tad bit too young to have seen it.

            1. Aww, you missed out, then; it was a great show! It was a TV show about Los Angeles firemen/paramedics and the hospital they worked with.

            2. Emergency! Season 2 Opening and Closing Credits and Theme Song

The entire series is available on DVD now. I highly encourage you to order yourself a set and check the show out! I liked that show much better than the hospital show that aired prior to then, "Medical Center." (I have fond memories of "Marcus Welby, M.D.," though.)

              1. Oh, cool! It looks like this was one of the openings that "Police Squad!" parodied. I also love that each character has all of their degrees and qualifications listed after their names.

                1. Yes, that made it immediately apparent to the viewer what each character's job was, didn't it? Since I've never watched "Police Squad," I'll have to take your word for it.

    2. Excuse me for butting in, please - but which other ER? Google only gives me one series 1994 - 2009, and that's the one I remember... It was a great show - probably because its creator, Michael Crichton, studied medicine for a few years.

      1. Believe it or not, there was a show called E/R that ran for about a year in 1984. Like its far more famous follower, it was set in the emergency room of a Chicago hospital, and it featured a very young George Clooney: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086704/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_72 or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E/R will tell you about it.

It tried to walk the very thin line between sitcom and half-hour drama in the way that M*A*S*H did, mixing serious storylines with general wackiness. It didn't always succeed, but when it did, it really did. I was very little when this show aired, but I still remember parts of it to this day, and you can see some of it on YouTube if you want to see how it holds up.

        1. Thanks for the info - I managed to find snippets on YouTube. But I wouldn't have recognized George Clooney if he hadn't been in the title of the video ;)
