This is fanfiction so the author can do whatever he wants. He is an Oliver/Sara shipper like me so he pairs the two together and changes the backstory so they are married.
So he's not just 'mildly retconning' Hours 4 and 5, but majorly retconning in some random relationship that makes no sense? I know that people can do what they want in fanfictions, but I just really hate forced-in ships.
Oliver/Sara makes no sense? That has to be the most ridiculous thing I've heard all week. And that includes Batman beating Thor because 'He's Batman.'
Oliver/Felicity is what doesn't make sense.
Oliver/Sara makes sense. Oliver/Earth-2 Laurel would make sense. Even Oliver/Laurel made some sense. Oliver/McKenna made sense.
But the main cannon relationships in the Arrowverse shows make as much sense as one ant helping out the other when a boot is about to crush them. WestAllen and Olicity top that list. If you claim to hate forced-in ships, then they are the ones you should hate. Because this perfectly describes them both.
Well the Barry and Iris thing actually happens in the comics, as for who Oliver should've been with, then that was definitely Laurel, not Earth-2 Laurel but the real Laurel, Felicity was basically a Oracle rip-off. As for why I complain about the Oliver/Sara thing, Sara's basically a lesbian at this point, and sure you can say she bisexual, but I think it's safe to say she more prefers women.
It happened in the comics yes, but the show ruined it from the start. The show's version of WestAllen resembles absolutely zilch of what it is in the comics. Plus, Iris is a bitch who constantly proves herself to be a hypocrite. The Arrowverse version of WestAllen is more toxic than the grounds around the Chernobyl.
Yes Felicity was for sure.
Oliver/Laurel could have been fine but the show made it hard to root for them as well right from the start.
As for Sara, Legends of Tomorrow ruined her character. She has been OOC since Season 2 of that show and is absolutely nothing like the Sara that was introduced in Arrow Season 2. At the end of Season 1 of LoT, her sister's dead and 4x23 of Arrow hasn't happened yet. And what does she do? Joins the Legends to go on crazy time travel adventures. The Sara from Arrow Season 2 would never ever do that. She would actually stay and help out against Darkh. At this point, she doesn't care about her home or the fact that her father died.
So yes, Sara is written OOC in Legends and isn't like Sara at all. Plus, Sara from Arrow Season 2 is who should have been with Oliver. He is with Laurel in the comics, but none of the two Laurels are actually very comic accurate. Sara is a much more comic-accurate Black Canary than either of them. The should have just changed her name to 'Laurel' or 'Dinah.'
Legends Season 2 onwards, Sara has basically been replaced by her selfish clone Sasha who is nothing like the real Sara except in fighting skills. Same thing that happened to Luke Skywalker in 'The Last Jedi' when he became Jake Skywalker. Of course this happened to Oliver and Barry in their respective shows as well but that's a whole other story.
Well, I think Legends of Tomorrow, which started out as a man putting a team together to save his wife and son, has basically turned into the writers saying 'Let's do whatever the fuck we want! Who gives a crap if it makes sense!", and does anyone remember Hawkman and Hawkgirl? The two were a major focus of the first season and just literally flew away never to be seen again, not even helping with alien invasions or the multiverse being destroyed. I wish Booster Gold was in the show, that would make so much sense!
Personally, I think any of the Arrowverse shows would've worked better if there was a little less focus on the damn romances, can't we just have superhero shows that are about superheroes and not a bunch of 'will they or won't they' bullshit?
Well, since we seem to be having a lengthy discussion, what do you think about Batwoman? If they wanted to have another female heroine centric show, why not do Batgirl? I would've love for a Barbara Gordon centric show, or maybe even Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown. I mean I know Kate Kane doesn't have much outside the comics, but is the only reason they made her the main character just so they can appease the LGBTQ community?
Personally, I don't think the premise makes sense, Batman just abandons Gotham for three years for no apparent reason and none of the other members of the extensive Batfamily takes over his watch? Where's Nightwing? Red Hood? Any of the Robins or Batgirls? Hell, where's Alfred!?
Yes, that is exactly what Legends has been since Season 3. Season 2 had the right balance of plot and wackiness. Season 3 had more wackiness but the plot was still understandable. What was the plot of Season 4 again? Assuming it had one to begin with. I dropped Legends during early Season 4.
Yes, its weird what the writers did with those 2. As annoying as they were, it's stupid that they never showed up again.
Yes, all of the shows work better that way. This is why I enjoy Agents of SHIELD and the Netflix MCU shows so much. Romances happen in them but never take over the show. And most of them are actually healthy.
I think I agree 100% with you on Batwoman. Barbara or Cassandra would be much better candidates for a female led superhero tv series.
Yes, the premise is stupid like you say. Bruce would never randomly abandon Gotham unless he dies or he has made sure it has a good protector in his absence.
And yeah, where are the other characters who would watch over Gotham with him not around?
It's a mediocre show made with the intention of scoring woke points.
You know, I've been thinking of what if they made a tv show about the Batfamily? You could keep the premise of Batman suddenly disappearing with no warning, and this brings all the criminals and psychos out to do what they want, and this causes Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake and Damien Wayne to come together to protect the city, with help from the Batgirls.
You get the drama of the Robins interacting and trying to be brothers, some shiptease with Dick & Barbara and Tim & Stephanie, but most importantly they try to find out what happened to Batman and try to find him. Has Kate ever try to find out what happened to Bruce or was she focused on her sister?
I think this idea alone has the potential to be the best Arrowverse show......provided they hire good writers. And none of the Arrowverse writers are worthy of being called 'good.'
Well it doesn't have to be a Arrowverse show, they could probably do it on the DC Universe stream, lord know it has to be better than that sorry excuse of a 'Titans' show.
The general consensus on Titans is that Season 1 was good, in spite of flaws here and there, while Season 2 had a good pilot but went downhill after that.
