Comment on Warped Minds

  1. Unless Skywarp decides to keep bringing it up as a way to annoy him. :P

Did to me. But I do think that Insecuriosity raised some good points. While you seem to be filling in the gaps well enough, and I do get what you're saying about people being bored by the original posts, there are those who have very successful stories regarding worldbuilding with a lot of detail. Besides Bibliotecaria, a good example is Distortions in Time in the Avengers fandom. That author has put in a glossary of the terms that she uses at least in her Ao3 posts. And as long as the chapters can be (and I believe it has a little over 80 chapters now), it's proven to be a very popular story. It's rich in detail, and you don't mind the chapter lengths since it's woven so well into both dialogue and action. But I'd imagine that it would be people who would really be into the fandom who would like something like that.

You don't have to be expansive in the detail, just throw in enough that those who might not be getting it do. I'm following it easily enough and have been able to develop a good idea from some of the context; but like I indicated, some probably won't or might just up to a point.

    1. Oh, dear, there goes my comment, into the ether(net).

Haha, Skywarp might well do something like that. He's such an arse.

Distortions in Time is a story I hesitate to read due to the list of tags and warnings. I love Loki, though. I have such a spot for villains with tortured souls (who knew? Surprise, right?). Tom Hiddleston does a great job. Helps that he's kinda cute.

      1. LOL

He is and he would. I was always surprised that he wasn't killed long before being thrown out of that shuttle in the original movie. ^^

You don't have to read it, was just using it as an example of a world-building story that's been successful in spite of chapter length. I've skimmed through a lot of the stuff that made me uncomfortable, and won't deny there were chapters I skipped over. But it wasn't hard for me to pick up what happened from reading comments or reviews. And I certainly had no problem whenever I picked up reading again.

I think it's all in how it's told that makes the difference. I'm sure you'll figure something out for your own story. :)

And I am not surprised by your having a "spot" for villains like that. ^^

        1. Regarding my story, I hope to be able to make things clear enough. I can only try, haha, either way it's going to take me years to finish writing. :)

TFSpeedwriting has stopped posting prompts, which is a shame. I guess if I, and others, had kept posting publicly it might have kept going.

Oh, and I swear the only reason nobody killed Skywarp is because every time they tried to he just ported away. I'm more shocked he didn't telefrag* himself in a wall or something.

*In the gamer sense, not the TF fandom sense, though I'm sure there's a fic out there.

          1. Well, just do what you can. ^^

I've noticed. I used to like reading those. But not much to be done about it.

I actually have seen a fic where his teleporting took both him and Thundercracker..."between", I guess you could say. Can't remember the title, though.
