Comment on No Bitter End

  1. Update, and book II are completely different things.

I'm not complaining, I'm just saying that 30k words is a novel, so this is really fun as the entirety of book two. I love Chloe's mind state, I love the pile of new mysteries getting shoveled in.

I like kwamii problems Chloe. I like that she has to make the active decision not to pick the most domineering choice that comes to her. I like that everything is grade A terrible now, and there's a moment where Chloe almost, sort of could have changed the outcome slightly in hindsight.

We're getting autistic Gabriel in here too right? Can't just focus all the funess on the best characters, right?

I really like that day two escalates this far. I can't wait to see how the next section gets worse.

    1. Ah, but see, I am a lover of Long Fics, and it seems like the Miraculous Fandom is in sore need of some good old-fashioned, 600k+ word fics that AREN'T all about shipping, so here I am :P

AHH, I love your review! It's so thoughtful! I ADORE long reviews, even more so than long fic!

I'm glad you noticed Chloe is having to resist her domineering, agressive choices, and it will continue like that for a good while-- and she will slip up occasionally too, because redemption is not a road without stumbles, and it's important to show both the internal struggle, as well as the outward growth!

My biggest pet peeve with other fics ""redeeming"" Chloe is that they're not even redeeming her-- they're RETCONNING her into having been good all along, or, almost worse, having her suddenly pipe up one day and turn into the perfect buddy to Marinette with no build up or evidence to support her sudden behavior change. I HATE it when people do that, because it just erases any motivation I have to like their version of her; she's not earning her redemption, it's being handed to her on a silver platter.

Yes, yes indeed, things are Grade A Terrible, but just wait-- things are going to get even more Disasteriffic in the next few chapters, and it will continue to be a crazy train ride 'til the end of the line!

Ooooh, perceptive, I'm curious, which part in particlar did you think Chloe could have made a big enough change? There are several important bits, and the foremost one will be at the begining of the next chapter, much like the "If Chat Noir Had Looked Back..." header.

Of course we're getting Autistic Gabriel! I myself am autistic, so pretty much every single character that narrates this fic is going to be autistic and or ADHD, it just depends on the character how they express themselves internally or externally.

Chloe, as I mentioned in the tags, has ADHD (not that she knows that), and in particular, she has some pretty severe Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria, so she lashes out at others over perceived slights, and keeps all but Sabrina and Adrien at arm's reach.

All of the POV characters (who exactly will narrate will be a surprise, but I WILL mention, it will be a cycle of Five Main Narrators, with every Sixth chapter or so being a Guest Narrator) are going to have unique stims (fidgets) that they consciously/unconsciously do when happy/stressed/scared, and it'll help give for the perceptive Readers when another POV is observing the characters in question!

Oh boy, I hope you are ready for some SERIOUS angst, because it is only going to escalate from here >:D
