One question that's raised tbh, is what exactly seperates the two universes that would cause this change in relationships. I mean, obviously the difference they discovered was that Gumball and Penny broke up and that Gumball is with Carrie now, but that implies more differences between the universes because people don't just break up for no reason. In our normal timeline, Gumball and Penny absolutely adore one another and it's the same with Carrie and Darwin. Of course that doesn't mean they could never break up, but I feel like there had to be some reason that the characters in our normal timeline had an incentive to stay together that the one's in this timeline just don't have. But then again, there do seem to be minor differences in how the characters behave and think in general too judging by the fact that the alternate character's aren't always in agreement, and maybe those seemingly small shifts in mindsets were enough to put the character's on different levels of compatibility with their individual partners? I mean Gumball himself is clearly annoyed by the alternate him multiple times and while I originally brushed it off as him just not liking himself- either because he's got a generally low opinion of who he is or because he's just that grating- however it could also imply that there really are just fundamental personality differences between the two. Like the alternate Gumball said, not all people are compatible, but normal Penny and normal Gumball definately are, so if alternate Gumball and alternate Penny aren't that really just means one or both of them are different as people in some ways.
