It's not really subconscious when pretty much everyone in the vet office knows exactly which of these rants it's going to touch off from Peter, but...yeah. He and Stiles take their little scaly baby very seriously, and he's certainly not going to make the same mistakes with her that his parents made with him. If Zilla's going to be a vehicle for mass destruction, it'll be purely because that's her innate nature as a tiny little god-monster.
