Comment on E is for Emancipation and Enzo

  1. Adults cohabiting the same space, filtering into each other's lives through little things, is what it's all about. That's the human connection I'm apparently incapable of not including in every fic. Peter is so hesitant to let himself be something important that this long game kind of fight was agony to write! He doesn't get it! Or he didn't until Ben just up and slapped him with the truth. I figured after the life he's had, Riley wouldn't appreciate the yelling, which is literally canon. That scene with Ben apologizing to Riley in the first movie after yelling has stuck with me all these years. The characters are in such a deep mess and I love them. Thanks for reading, friend!

    1. That scene from the first movie with Ben stopping and very calmly and gently saying "everything's going to be okay, sorry I yelled at you" haunts me REGULARLY. Like, in a good way, but it HAUNTS me. It's such a specific thing to do, and I felt like it spoke to both Ben AND Riley, because there are several points in that movie where he gets worked up enough to yell but Riley is the *only* person he apologized to for it. It's maybe my favorite moment in the movie tbh for all the rabbit holes it sends me down.

      1. The first time I watched that scene, I rewound it to play a second time because I was so shocked to hear a big action hero(tm) up and apologize without any embarrassment, totally sincere that I wasn't sure I'd heard right. It's my fav scene too! :D
