    OH MY GOD. Ok let's be real here, I read the description and REALLY didn't want to read this because I don't think I can bear sad!bagginshield? And if - at all- it's probably be them meeting in dreams if I got that right? And just old!bilbo is so sad to me, already and ... it'll just be heartbreak... that being said, obviously I read all of this, and it's AMAZING, it's got so much depth, and detail, and heart, and I think this will be brilliant. Also kudos for the fact that you have so many characters here (many of whom we've never actually encountered much of in the books/movie, but you've managed to lend them distinct individual voices already. fantastic. I'm really, really looking forwards to the next chapters, this looks great so far. Thank you for writing it!!! (I'll now stock up on chocolate so that I can manage reading this and having my heart broken over bagginshield ;_____;)

      I ain't gonna lie, this is angsty for quite a while. But there will be jokes here and there so we don't all dissolve in our own misery, and things do begin to look up. After all, there's just been a giant battle, and the living world is dealing with a lot of crap. The dead are coming to terms with being dead. It's all a bit awful right now. But! The light at the end of the tunnel isn't an oncoming train! (it's a volcano, but that's quite some time later...)

      Thorin is able to reach the subconsious - thus, 'the sleeping mind underneath the waking one'. Others can hear him if they're receptive - and considering that many of them are grieving, a lot of them won't. He won't be exactly 'heard' but he'll have an effect. :D

      There's going to be a LOT of the other Dwarves in this, and I love daddy Thrain and grandaddy Thrór! It's sad to me that they get vilified in fic so often, because they were actually rather incredible Dwarves. Thror's movie death is bad enough - but when you read his canon death.... dear sweet Mahal below. No wonder they went to war. And we need more Lady!Dwarves dammit, I'm not having any erasure in my fic. Lady!Dwarves ftw!
