   It always goes right to my soul that Bucky’s lady word in IW was “Steve?” His last thought was to turn to Steve for help. Bucky being the first to dust wasn’t an accident - his life and his friendship with Steve is the most personal of stakes in all the CA movies and then they lose, and everything Steve was fighting for is just gone with no ceremony and that hurts (like Loki being redeemed in Ragnorok and then being the first to die in IW. Smart storytelling; the stakes are set so high right off the bat.

   I loved your point about Steve being sure he’d die before Bucky, given all his illnesses pre-serum. He’s never thought he’d lose him and then he lost him twice.

   The ending was so heart-warming x

      I know!! It haunted me after watching IW in preparation for Endgame. And how much would Steve kick himself for not answering?

      That's a point several other people had made to me, and I knew it made so much sense.

      And yes, I wrote that in a kind of feverish hope, like Please please please PLEASE let this be true.. And I am so glad it was.
